It's deeply rooted in our scalps and in our souls, we're talking about black hair and everyone's fascination with it. Some would say, it's just hair, but we're telling you why it's so much more. We share the history of hairstyling, dos and don'ts of black hair, and our feelings on how our hair is perceived, imitated, and/or rejected by society. But before that, we give you a quick rundown on the memorable Super Bowl performances by black female artists and tell you why you'll want to watch all of Ava DuVernay's and Kenya Barris' work. In this week's episode, we talk about white people mad at Ja Rule, black people mad at Shea Moisture, and trying not to make old people mad. Someone is bound to be outraged with something this week. We're excited to talk with Patrice Grell Yursik, a.k.a. Afrobella! Patrice created her wildly popular blog Afrobella.com in 2006, featuring inspiring, in depth information about natural hair, skincare, makeup, travel, and lifestyle. Patrice is one of WWD's 50 Most Influential People in the Multicultural Market. Yep. The woman is major. (And you'll never guess who her fave celeb crush is. But we approve!)
