My guest today is Nathan Mac!This is the type of guest that I would call a triple threat as Nathan Mac is the type of creative individual that excels at many different creative avenues to express himself, which includes Music, filmmaking, theatre and of course Circus!I'll be going through Nathan's created journey by firstly talking how his interest in music began and how he became a musical artist, his love of circus and he incorporates that into his live performances, the film he wrote, starred and produced called 'Learning Curve' that was directed my friend Chiara Viale, his stage shows and all that he has planned for us in 2025.Nathan currently has a show about to beginning running in the Smock Alley Theatre as part of the Seen & Heard festival called 'Starchaser'. It runs on this Thursday and Friday and tickets are available for that now, it is surely a show not to be missed!Nathan Mac's websiteTickets for Starchaser at Smock Alley TheatreTickets for The Gathering - A night of music in Aid of Enable IrelandDonation page for Enable Ireland Hosted on Acast. Tom McGrath is a composer-lyricist from Tipperary, Ireland. His background is in classical and Irish folk music. He has a master's degree in contemporary composition from Trinity College, Dublin. His musicals have been performed in the Camden Fringe, London and Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin. Tom works part-time as an NHS doctor. He is a member of the Book, Music & Lyrics workshop and Mercury Musical Developments. Amy Clair Tasker is a theatre maker and musical theatre writer. She works with her own company Pinecone Performance Lab, and with The Cockpit, where she produces the Voila! Europe Theatre Festival and the Theatre Maker artist development programme. Amy has a BA in Drama from the University of California, Irvine. She is a member of the Book, Music & Lyrics workshop, Mercury Musical Developments, and Musical Theatre Network. The Queen is Mad is a musical tragedy inspired by the true story of “Joanna la Loca.” The elder sister of Catherine of Aragon, Joanna came to inherit the throne of Castile in 1504 – but her father and husband conspired to usurp her power by claiming she was mad and locking her away. Against the brutality and fanaticism of 16th century Spain, the show charts Joanna's quest for freedom and control of her own life. With shades of Passion and Wicked, this chamber musical fuses a contemporary classical score with a tale of power, betrayal and rage.

Hi Guys, Dylan here to give a quick update about all things Hearthfire for July! See below copied text from our Hearthfire State of the Flame post that can be found over on Patreon and in our discord! The links to everything as always are in our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/hearthfiretales Hi Pals! Hope you're all doing well! Just a quick one for this month's Hearthfire State of the Flame update for you all! Firstly, Voting Closes This Sunday July 7th for the CRIT awards, so this is your last chance to vote for us, we'd really appreciate it if you could! Here's a link to a very silly video we made about how easy it is! : https://www.instagram.com/p/C8zqU1rNfgF/ We are on like Page 3, and can be found in the Best Series Section! Live Show! Also up imminently is our Big Live Show in Smock Alley Theatre on Saturday 13th of July! You're probably sick of us talking about it by now, but tickets are beginning to move quickly, so if you haven't gotten your ticket yet, go now!! Lastly, July Release Schedule! We are taking a small break for July, to give ourselves time to focus on the live show, and then decompress after it! We're all super busy as well over the summer, so we need to find time to record, and then time to edit, so we estimate that we'll be back early August with our regular scheduling! However, that does not mean that the feed will be dead, we'll be doing a feed drop of the Fate of Daya, the Actual Play that Dylan guest Gm'ed on, set in the world of "No Return", and Audio drama that all 3 of us have been cast members on! It's a cool story, and is something a little different from the usual vibes of Hearthfire Tales, and we think you might like it! Don't forget too we have lots of Content on our Youtube Channel, and will still be active on our twitch channel over July too, so go check that out where Jim is running a game called, The Wizard of Wildspace, which is the Wizard of Oz meets Spelljammer! It's very fun, and eatures some of our friends from the Irish TTRPG and streaming community! That's all for us, we'll be back in August, rested and refreshed, and ready to tackle the end of the Feywild Saga! Stay Dangerous!
You'll know Rory Nolan from Ross O'Caroll Kelly – but is he sick of Ross? He joined Dave to tell him the truth and chats all about his new show at Smock Alley Theatre.
An incredible true story of sex, scandal, and American murder, we talk to the creators of the Stage production ‘'The Devil Himself''. Joining Jonathan this morning was Paul Nugent Writer and Director of 'The Devil Himself and also Andrew Porwancher Professor of Constitutional history and author of The Devil Himself.
For today's episode, I'll be joined by Jim Murphy and Gráinne Hunt of the band Hibsen! Each of them are extremely talented muscians, you may know Jim from his work from fronting his band Blue Fish Diamond and you may know Gráinne from her solo work as a contemporary nu folk singer/songwriter.They've come together to form the band Hibsen and have recently released their debut album, The Stern Task of Living.'The Stern Task of Living' is an album inspired by the work of James Joyce, with each song on the album is taken from his collection of short stories in 'Dubliners'.Having recently played as a part of Bloomsday and putting on a fantastic show in Smock Alley Theatre, it was a real pleasure having them on. This episode will be a little different to the normal structure as the band have very generously allowed me to sprinkle parts of the album throughout this episode, so you get a real feeling for how beautiful the music is.On top of that, there is a live performance of 'Eveline' at the end of the episode that the band recorded in studio.I hope you enjoy the episode!Hibsen Bandcamp: https://hibsen.bandcamp.com/In the Midst of Plenty tickets: https://www.inthemidstofplenty.com/tourBlue Fish Diamond Bandcamp: https://bluefishdiamond.bandcamp.com/Gráinne Hunt's website: www.grainnehunt.com

We are 6 years old and we are having a party online! Join us to chat about the Táin on Sunday 6th December at 7pm. We will be talking about the latest episodes where we released a special edition Táin recording. Check it out if you missed it. Here we will be going LIVE ON YOUTUBE to chat about this epic myth and all the madness of 2020. Sorcha read somewhere once upon a time, that An Táin Bó Culaigne was the tale that should be told after dark and in the dark half of the year. So, six years ago, in a small pub in Dublin we started telling the Táin. There were about 10 people there at the time. Each week the numbers grew and grew, and at the end of the tale, there were people crammed in, and listening from the stairwell outside the room. For the past 6 years, every year we celebrated by telling the Táin as we did the very first time at a live show. This one never gets old either. Each year we found a new way to tell it, more details to enhance, or perspectives to examine. It’s an epic, so it was possibly told in the dark months to last the entire winter. Over the years we worked on a number of versions of this story, and ‘The Shadows of the Táin’ was the final script we came up with and premiered in Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin in collaboration with the Shadow Puppetry of ‘Flight of Fancy’. We toured this show in the last couple of years, and have had plans of performing it live again and again… but without live venues open, we decided to do something different with this script. The last three episodes of the Podcast was that something different. Sorcha is narrating this on her own this time, and Rurai O'Shea (the first musician we ever collaborated with) took this reading and added the soundscape and music to it as his lockdown project. And aren't we lucky to be able to collaborate with such an artist. Part 3 of our special edition birthday telling of the Táin. This episode focuses on the aftermath of the havoc that the armies of Ireland deal on Ulster. Cuchulainn awakes after a healing sleep to see the hills burning. Handel was soon so busy in Dublin that he could not keep up. Smock Alley Theatre further down Fishamble Street had to cancel performances because Handel monopolised the best musicians in the city. They even had to turn Fishamble Street into a one-way street when Handel was giving concerts because of the ensuing traffic congestion. Thus sedan chairs could no longer just be parked outside Mr Neal’s Great Musick Hall while the noble guests were enjoying the strains of Handel’s music. Handel was a success – and he had not even started introducing his audience to his new compositions yet. So far they had only been listening to the works they already knew.Music: Dunedin Consort ‘Handel’s Original Dublin Version 1742’

In this week's episode - recorded live at Smock Alley Theatre as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin - Darach and Éimear are joined by Terry O'Hagan, the man behind the Vox Hiberionacum blog.

There was a full house at the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin when we put on this discussion about media in an age of fake news as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin. It was, as you are about to hear, a hell of a discussion.
