In this episode of the Podcast of Champions host Ryan Abraham is in studio with David Woods joining the stream remotely to recap the Alamo, Holiday and Sun Bowls and previewing the Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl., the first College Football Playoff appearance for the Pac-12 since 2016. The guys start off breaking down what was a depleted USC squad facing No. 15 Louisville in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Despite the limited roster numbers the Trojans came out inspired behind Miller Moss and his USC bowl record six touchdown passes en route to a 42-28 victory. Next up No. 14 Arizona had a monster matchup with No. 12 Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, one of the best games outside of the NY6 games. The Wildcats ran out to a 13-0 lead before the Sooners rattled off 28-straight. Arizona was able to capitalize on OU turnovers and finished strong for the 38-24 victory. Finally, No. 19 Oregon State faced No. 16 Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl on Friday morning in El Paso. Both teams suffered major roster opt-outs, but the Beavers were far more depleted including the majority of their coaching staff. This one wasn't much of a contest with ND cruising to a 40-8 victory. The guys then look ahead to the New Year's Day bowls with No. 8 Oregon facing No. 23 Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl and No. 2 Washington matching up with No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl in the College Football Playoffs. Alabama isn't allowing its players to view film at their leisure like they would normally because of the cloud of controversy surrounding Michigan this season. Is this paranoia driven? We love us some brown sugar-cinnamon Pop-Tarts. And we love us some Bowlapalooza. Together? You get nearly two hours of college football podcasting fun. The bowl game season begins Saturday at 11 a.m. (#OUOhYeah), continuing through the next few weeks. And as we do here at the Carla and Crappy Show, we gathered up a few friends – and an avocado – to pick some of the games we thought will be interesting. It's our 10.5th year of doing Bowlapalooza (COVID year counts as the half), and our cast will sound familiar to folks who have been here before; in addition to A.J. joining us live, we have Gabby Biltz, Braden Gall, Aiden and Kelly Krieg and Jake Rose. Professional obligations kept Braden from joining us for the whole show – hence the Bradenpalooza show within the show – but we all got our say, and then some, with a list of seven bowl games. And more importantly, we discussed mascot eating (and mascot dumping) as we considered the finest Pop-Tart flavors of all time. Ready? Even if you're not, here are the games: Saturday, December 16 11 a.m., ESPN, Myrtle Beach Bowl: Ohio vs. Georgia Southern Nearly all of OU's offensive production is in the transfer portal, but there may be a few points left – if the Bobcats' defense plays as it should. 3:30 p.m., ABC, Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl: Miami (Ohio) vs. Appalachian State Crappy has strong feelings about Miami, OU's rival in the MAC; nearly everyone else is feeling happy about Appy. Saturday, December 23 3:30, ABC, Lockheed Martin Armed Services Bowl: James Madison vs. Air Force Who in their right minds would pick against a former commander in chief in the Armed Services Bowl? Only a couple of us, as it turns out. 10:30 p.m., ESPN, Easy Post Hawaii Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs. San Jose State Avocados are firmly behind Coastal. Everyone else likes Sparty Junior. Wednesday, December 27 5:50 p.m., ESPN, Duke's Mayo Bowl: North Carolina vs. West Virginia The picks were mixed for this game, but everyone wants to see Mack Brown get a tub of Duke's Mayo dumped on his head. Thursday, December 28 5:45 p.m., ESPN, PopTarts Bowl: NC State vs. Kansas State The PowerCats are looking good. Strawberry Pop-Tarts? Not so much. 9:15 p.m., ESPN Valero Alamo Bowl: Arizona vs. Oklahoma Arizona continues its run as the team no one wants to play. Except for the one of us who has a friend who was an athlete at Oklahoma. Friday, December 29 2 p.m., CBS, Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl: Notre Dame vs. Oregon State The transfer portal will have a GRRRRREEEAAAAAT impact on this game (Get it? Yeah, sorry…), as both quarterbacks are moving on. Does ND run the ball into the ground, or will OSU complete its run in the PAC 12 with a final win? After a stomach bug waylaid Carla (she's feeling better now, thanks), a brief discussion about national championship contenders – we'll use those picks as tie-breakers, if necessary – and probably one too many beers for Crappy, we were pleased to wrap up what is perhaps the most chaotic Bowlapalooza ever. Can we top it? We'll give it a try with the 11.5th edition next year. In the meantime, enjoy bowl season, boys and girls, and we'll see you back here prior to the NY6 games.
No opening take as the guys open their 300th episode with our swan song for Dillon Gabriel as he takes his talents to Oregon. Grant says if Oregon makes the Playoff and OU goes 6-6 next year then Venables could be in trouble. Lee is looking forward to seeing DG play in the Big Ten (01:30). We dive into all the roster news involving Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman, Cayden Green, and more (16:10). OU picks up a transfer WR from Purdue who reminds Grant of a former Sooners receiver. The OU WR room is looking outstanding right now (31:00). OU got a transfer CB out of SDSU and what's going to happen with Woodi Washington (38:35)? What's going on with Tawee Walker? The guys once again provide a full throated defense of what was OU's best running back for most of the season (43:40). We go down the list of Sooners who've entered the portal and are likely gone (55:50). The guys would love to see a few key defensive players come back next season (1:07:30). We turn our attention to the Alamo Bowl (1:09:45). We haven't talked about the Playoff teams yet, so we do it now. We both think Washington got jobbed and the Committee made the wrong call. Rants ensue, including a homer call by Lee that is impossible to prove. We also complain about OU missing out on a NY6 bowl game (1:19:40). Lee thinks we are on a crash course for a Texas-Alabama rematch with Texas winning it all and we hate it (1:38:00). A little on Jayden Daniels winning the Heisman, what's going on at Texas A&M?, and the SEC is about to release the full 2024 schedule (1:41:25). Grant wants to show some love for OU's unbeaten men's basketball team (1:54:30). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
TCU Men's Basketball had its first road test of the season at Georgetown in the Big East-Big 12 Battle, a test it would've failed until the heroics of Emanuel Miller's *controversial* buzzer beater gave the Frogs the victory. It was TCU's 2nd win of the week after downing Houston Christian with ease on Monday. TCU Women's Basketball continues to destroy all opponents in its path, dismantling Tulsa 82-50 to move to 8-0 for the first time in program history. Madison Conner with a career-high 41 points on 10 made 3FGs; she's shooting 50% from long-range and 89% from the free throw line for the season. College Football transfer portal opened this week and there are already big names looking for new homes. Several Horned Frogs have declared intention to leave Fort Worth, including TCU's top 2023 recruit, WR Cordale Russell. Conference Championship weekend concluded and the College Football Playoff is set, where 1-loss Big 12 & SEC teams got into the field over the undefeated ACC Champion Florida State. Liberty earns the G5 bid to the NY6 with its undefeated season as the Committee selects the Flames over the AAC Champion SMU Mustangs TCU Volleyball reached the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons, and again won its first game to advance to the Round of 32. TCU fought back from a deficit in the first set vs. 6-seed FSU and eventually emerged with a 3-1 win over the Seminoles. The Frogs would face Regional host Arkansas in the 2nd Round and were eliminated with a 1-3 defeat at the hands of the Hogs. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/frogsup/support

Blake Biscardi reacts to the unprecedented College Football Playoff field for the 2023-24 season. Michigan vs. Alabama in the Rose Bowl and Washington vs. Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Did the Committee get it right? Blake breaks down what happened in the room and how Florida State was left out at the expense of Alabama and the SEC. Should FSU have gotten in despite the injury to Jordan Travis? Then, Blake previews the New Year's Six Bowl matchups. The games seem a bit underwhelming, and why Liberty and Missouri won the day in the NY6. Will Georgia and Ohio State be at full strength for the Orange and Cotton Bowls? Plus, Blake thinks Ole Miss and Penn State have a lot of similarities. Finally, is Jayden Daniels the Heisman favorite? Or can Bo Nix, Michael Penix, or Marvin Harrison Jr. become the next member of the Heisman trust?
Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin getting the Penn State Nittany Lions and James Franklin in the Peach Bowl as part of the NY6. Jaxson Dart and Quinshon Judkins will face a Penn State defense that like most Big 10 defenses are pretty salty like the Michigan Wolverines or Ohio State Buckeyes. This matchup has a chance to be a game that the defense shows out and it will be on Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Defense. In the second segment of the show we talk about the very unlikely way that the Ole Miss Rebels got into the bowl game that involved the Florida State Seminoles winning the ACC Championship over the Louisville Cardinals and not making the College Football Playoff. That crazy unlikely path is reason Ole Miss is in the NY6 for the fourth time in ten years. In our final segment of the day we talk about why the Peach Bowl was actually the perfect landing spot for Ole Miss and I assume Penn State as momentum is being built for the 2024 12 Team Playoff that is one year away. We also look at some of the other SEC Bowl Games and early opening lines. WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball
Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about while we established yesterday the Ole Miss Rebels deserve to be in the NY6 as a bowl game and their resume is better than the Missouri Tigers or Penn State Nittany Lions. We look at the bowls that are possible for Ole Miss and we look a what would put Ole Miss in the best possible situation for the 2024 12-Team College Football Playoff. In the second segment of the show we talk about Each of the Bowl Games in contention between the Cotton Bowl, Peach Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and the Citrus Bowl. We talk payouts for each game and why a floor of $9 Million is pretty good. We look at potential matchups with the Texas Longhorns as the likely most watched NY6 Bowl Game and the other games with the Oregon Ducks or Washington Huskies as options. In our final segment of the day we talk about how Rivalry Week was like the Round of 64 in the NCAA Basketball Tournament and how adding a March Madness flavor to College Football is something that hasn't existed in College Football in 30 years. Head on over to YouTube, and don't forget to subscribe! https://youtube.com/live/UGOS60Kwuu4 Less than 24 hours after a potential deal with Kentucky's Mark Stoops fell apart, Texas A&M hired Duke coach Mike Elko (a former Aggies defensive coordinator) to replace Jimbo Fisher. Meanwhile, Mississippi State hired Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby to replace Zach Arnett. Indiana fired Tom Allen, paying him more than $15 million to not coach (and that was after negotiating the buyout down. Houston also fired Dana Holgorsen, paying a $15 million that Holgorsen once deemed "impossible." Andy breaks down a trio of potential candidates for that job. It's Sunday, so Andy gives you his resume ranking top 10. It looks an awful lot like the College Football Playoff selection committee's top 10, but Andy isn't sure the committee is closely examining the resumes of four 10-2 teams. The reason that matters is made clear in Andy's projected CFP and New Years Six matchups. One or two of those 10-2 teams will be left out of the NY6. Next, Nick Roush of Kentucky Sports Radio joins to discuss the wild weekend for Mark Stoops. It began with a flirtation with Texas A&M, continued with an upset win against Louisville and ended with a decision that Texas A&M would look elsewhere and Stoops would continue making gobs of money at Kentucky. Later, Spencer Holbrook of On3's Lettermen Row joins to discuss what happens next for Ohio State after a third consecutive loss to Michigan. The pressure is squarely on coach Ryan Day now. There's no doubt that Notre Dame's 2023 campaign will be considered a disappointment. At best the Irish can finish just one game better than it did a season ago. The chances at a playoff berth were dashed in October, and the NY6 chances were gone the first weekend of November. Notre Dame needs to bounce back and finish strong, and that goes beyond just beating two bad teams and winning a bowl game. In this show we break down what it means for Notre Dame to finish strong as a team, and especially on offense. Rapid Fire starts with a listener question about whether Notre Dame would have beaten Ohio State last year if Sam Hartman had been the Irish quarterback. Other topics include: * Fill-in the blank: After going 4-0 against ACC opponents last season, Notre Dame has won 28 consecutive regular-season games against the ACC. It would be BLANK if the streak ends this season. * Fill-in the blank: 247 Sports projects Notre Dame to play Oregon in a NY6 bowl. It would be BLANK if that happens. * What college football team reminds you of the Dallas Cowboys? * In the last 30 years Ohio State has only lost 66 games under five head coaches but only has won two national championships. Meanwhile, Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, and LSU have all lost more than 100 games in that same span but they each have at least three championships. As a fan, which would you take over the next 30 years? * College baseball's Golden Spikes Award winner, baseball's Heisman equivalent, was announced minutes before game two of the CWS Finals yesterday. All three finalists for the award were playing in the game. What do you think of the timing of the announcement?
