Sunday May 25, 2025 at the Hub City Church On Guard Against Gospel Drift | Galatians 2:11-14 World Upside Down Sermon by Tadd Anderson | Lead Teaching Pastor Sermon Notes: ACCOUNTABILITY is ESSENTIAL in the church because EVERY CHRISTIAN is SUSCEPTIBLE to gospel DRIFT. “We need accountability. Left to our own devices, we will soon devise or succumb to all kinds of evil. As Christians we know that we need other believers to hold us to the standards of Scripture. Life is far too difficult and we are far too sinful to live in solitude. We need community. We need accountability. And God has anticipated our need by giving us the local church as the primary means of this accountability.” — Tim Challies - No matter how MATURE in faith, we ALL continue to have indwelling SIN that must be DEALT with. Romans 7:15,18-19 // 1 John 1:8 - Biblical COMMUNITY affords relational PROXIMITY which affords healthy OPPORTUNITY for others to see our sinful PROCLIVITIES. Proverbs 18:1 // Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 // Proverbs 27:17 - The Bible presents CORRECTION by those who love CHRIST and love US, not as something we should FEAR but something we should DESIRE. Proverbs 9:8, 27:6 // Psalm 141:5 // Hebrews 3:13 - While strong, PUBLIC REBUKE is sometimes necessary, ORDINARILY correction should take the form of a GENTLE and relatively PRIVATE APPEAL to BELIEVE the gospel AFRESH. Matthew 18:15 // Galatians 6:1 // 2 Timothy 2:24-25 The Hub City Church is a local expression of the church in Crestview, Florida, making disciples Who Believe the Gospel, Abide in Christ and Obey the Word to the glory of God. Welcome to this transformative episode of Daily Influence, where we delve into the rhythm of life through the lens of the changing seasons. "Seasonal Shifts: Embracing the Renewal of Starting Afresh" takes you on a journey through the cyclical pattern of beginnings, growth, fruition, and reflection. We explore how the natural progression from Spring's seed-planting to Winter's reflective dormancy mirrors our own opportunities for personal and professional rejuvenation.- In Spring, we talk about breaking ground in your life, planting the seeds for future success, and embracing change as a positive force.  - Summer heats up with discussions on nurturing those delicate new shoots in your life and career, the dedication it takes to grow, and the resilience needed when facing the scorching challenges of life.  - Come Autumn, we reap the harvest of our hard work, celebrate our successes, and learn from the yield of our efforts, both the bountiful and the scarce.  - In the quiet coolness of Winter, we reflect on the past year, rest our weary limbs, and gather the energy needed for the next cycle of growth.  - Finally, we close the loop, considering how the end of one cycle is always the precursor to another beginning, preparing us to take the leap once again. This episode is perfect for anyone standing at the crossroads of change, contemplating a fresh start, or seeking growth. Tune in to align your personal growth with the wisdom of the seasons and learn why every ending is a new beginning.

“I miss being part of the top 1%.”Let's try to set some context. He was also a Consulting Partner at SBM Intelligence, an Africa-focused geopolitical research firm. And then, as with most immigrants, he decided to leave all that and start afresh in England for his kids. And the financial tradeoffs and adjustments have been something. In this refreshingly honest and raw conversation, Tunde joins me on The Newcomers Podcast to chat about:* The work needed to rebuild social capital as an immigrant* The mental burden of code-switching* Adjusting to the smaller houses you find in England* Being a tourist vs. being an immigrant* Writing his new book (Fireflies on the Lagoon) and the Western influence on the writing process* Career adjustments, and more. P.S. Tunde runs a YouTube channel (African History Channel) where he brings African History to life from the Africans' perspective. You should check it out.Did you find this interesting? Prophetic figures are usually violently resisted.  This happened to Christ on the Cross.  Sometimes they are simply overlooked or ignored.   This happened to Christ in Nazareth, with those who knew him well.   Unless we are careful, our own familiarity with Christ could weaken his impact in our life.  We should pray about ways to have new and powerful encounters with Jesus. https://comeawaybyyourselves.com

Happy New Year.  It feels to me as if this year, the journey is going to be one of continual change and of challenge - that 2024 will be the year when it is impossible for anyone to pretend that the life we knew, the life we grew up believing would go on indefinitely - is going to continue. The old order is dying, but if we're to absolute collapse on a global scale (because clearly it's happening locally all over the world, usually pushed by the governments of people who are statistically most likely to be listening to this podcast) -but if we're going to avert absolute breakdown everywhere, then we need to dismantle the super-organism of the markets. Markets, globalisation, the entire neo-liberal model of free trade that was neither free nor liberal, nor particularly new... these are the common thread that perpetuates the world we know. Yes, we have to change our political systems, our power generation, our food systems..... all of these are core, but it's the markets and our concepts of value and money - the core of capitalism that keep the whole show on the road. One way or another, they are going - either there's a crash and nothing... or we succeed in managing a degrowth curve to a much simpler system that is not just less extractive, it's regenerative - it repairs some of the desperate harm we've done in recent times. So I want this podcast really to begin to look at how we could shape this downward slope - to play with ideas that could take use forward into something different - to begin to build narratives, stories, mythologies, collective heroic journeys of how we as a culture could affect the change that we need. Yes, the super-organism feels as if it has a life of its own, but it is composed of individuals and if we all change our behaviour, our expectations, our understanding of what's good and what isn't - then it will change. I still believe this is possible and I'm definitely working towards this. As is our guest this week. Diana Finch has worked in senior leadership roles in a variety of socially and environmentally focused non-profit organisations since 2001. Through this work, she became convinced that our economic system is the root cause behind the environmental and social challenges the non-profit sector is trying to address. She started to become interested in the field of new economics, and was thrilled to join the Bristol Pound team as Managing Director in 2018. She continued to be a director until the organisation was wound up in 2023. The experience helped her develop an understanding of the problems with our existing economic system, creating a determination to share what she has learned by writing a book called 'Value Beyond Money: an exploration of the Bristol Pound and the building blocks for an alternative economic system' The book is not out until September, but it I was privileged to read it early and was so struck by Diana's capacity to lay out clearly the various different ways we have begun to see money and the alternative systems that people are trying - the Bristol Pound was an astonishing endeavour and the story of how it came about and why it ended are remarkable in and of itself. But it's the ideas that come after - why did it not work and what could we do now - what could help us shift from exactly where we are, to where we need to be - these are the solid gold. We did talk for a long time. If necessary, we'll split this into two bits. I'm not sure if we're going to need to, so... we'll see.   In the meantime, enjoy the ideas of how we could be different - and then if you know of anyone who could fund this, please do let us know. PreOrder Diana's book https://crowdbound.org/product/value-beyond-money/The Bristol Pound legacy homepage https://www.bristolpoundlegacy.info/Holochain https://www.holochain.org/Art Brock Metacurrency https://www.artbrock.com/metacurrency/resourcesBradford Citizen Coin https://bradford.citizencoin.uk/Mark Fisher Ghosts of my Life https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/ghosts-of-my-life-writings-on-depression-hauntology-and-lost-futures-mark-fisher/517207?ean=9781780992266Mark Fisher Capitalis Realism - Is there No Alternative https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/capitalist-realism-new-edition-is-there-no-alternative-mark-fisher/7313424?ean=9781803414300Confessions of an Economic Hitman Short Animated Version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYtb5zatgMgNew Economics Foundation https://neweconomics.org/Positive Money https://positivemoney.org/Reference booksLess is More: How Degrowth can save the world by Jason Hickel https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/less-is-more-how-degrowth-will-save-the-world-jason-hickel/364774Doughnut Economics: 7 Ways to Think like a 21st Century Economist https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/doughnut-economics-seven-ways-to-think-like-a-21st-century-economist-kate-raworth/

Afresh CEO Nathan Fenner On How AI Can Help Grocers Manage Supply Chains

The AI Podcast

Talk about going after low-hanging fruit. Afresh is an AI startup that helps grocery stores and retailers reduce food waste by making supply chains more efficient. In the latest episode of NVIDIA's AI Podcast, host Noah Kravitz spoke with the company's cofounder and president, Nathan Fenner, about its mission, offerings and the greater challenge of eliminating food waste. Most supply chain and inventory management offerings targeting grocers and retailers are outdated. Fenner and his team noticed those solutions, built for the nonperishable side of the business, didn't work as well on the fresh side — creating enormous amounts of food waste and causing billions in lost profits. The team first sought to solve the store-replenishment challenge by developing a platform to help grocers decide how much fresh produce to order to optimize costs while meeting demand. They created machine learning and AI models that could effectively use the data generated by fresh produce, which is messier than data generated by nonperishable goods because of factors like time to decay, greater demand fluctuation and unreliability caused by lack of barcodes, leading to incorrect scans at self-checkout registers. The result was a fully integrated, machine learning-based platform that helps grocers make informed decisions at each node of the operations process. The company also recently launched inventory management software that allows grocers to save time and increase data accuracy by intelligently tracking inventory. That information can be inputted back into the platform's ordering solution, further refining the accuracy of inventory data. It's all part of Afresh's greater mission to tackle climate change. “The most impactful thing we can do is reduce food waste to mitigate climate change,” Fenner said. “It's really one of the key things that brought me into the business: I think I've always had a keen eye to work in the climate space. It's really motivating for a lot of our team, and it's a key part of our mission.”

Divert is building food waste to energy plants that have achieved the scale to become profitable, scalable, and impactful in combating climate change. This is a truly inspiring story as it took them about 13 years to get to the point of proving their technology and perfecting the business model in a way that they could then get serious funding. Serious funding refers to, them now hitting a point of getting funding from Private Equity groups. In particular, Infrastructure funds. In the conversation, we go through how Ryan got into the space and left the defense space to be part of the founding team at Divert. We talk about the challenges and the milestones along the way. Then in the latter half, we discuss a lot about the financing of their business, how to get to the point of attracting Infrastructure Funding, and how important talent is to the success of your business. We invite you to consider Easter under a fresh light, a slightly different angle, maybe with a sprinkle of unexpected spices. Our goal today is to know Jesus more – because that is the essence of Easter. One of the best ways to experience Scripture afresh is to connect the Old and the New testaments, so today is about creating a sense of wonder and astonishment at the very event of Easter. We are entering the banquet that Joseph gave his brothers in Genesis 42-45 as the gateway to experience the Last Supper in the Upper Room – Jesus' last meal with His disciples, and the instruction of the Communion. We will also study another key event that links the two and is linked to each of them, namely  PASSOVER – that will be instituted by God through Moses as they leave Egypt. You can also view the video of this lesson on YouTube at https://youtu.be/94zE3huzJiw  SUPER SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! WE WOULD LOVE TO FEATURE YOU ON GOSPEL SPICE! For our 200th episode, Stephanie will compile a handful of stories from our beloved listeners. How has the Lord met you recently, and has Gospel Spice played a role? Email us at contact@gospelspice.com today to apply! Deadline is March 25, 2023. Thank you! About our episode today... Joseph's banquet represents the entry to Egypt, the escape from famine and death. It is a family reunion and a hopeful new start for the young Jewish nation that is summed up in the 70 family members. The last supper, taking place in the upper room on the night that Jesus was betrayed, the last night before he was killed, is a symbol of spiritual freedom. Just like Moses liberated the Jews from the physical oppression of the Egyptians, Jesus will liberate all who believe in Him from the spiritual oppression of sin and death. So Jesus is like Joseph in the sense that he provides escape from famine and death, and like Moses in the sense that he provides liberation from sin and death. The last supper is a mix of two primary events, and it is also where Jesus gives us the sacrament of communion, or the Lord's supper. Every Jew would celebrate Passover on that night, ever since they entered the Promised Land 1500 years earlier. This particular last supper is the last Passover, really, because the true Lamb of God has finally come to do what the Passover has been pointing to all these years. So today we are connecting Joseph's banquet to the last supper with occasional connections with Passover because Passover and last supper are intricately linked in places. We will look at the central role of Egypt, the freedom from slavery, the preparations being made around these two feasts, the guests who attend, the atmosphere around the events, the revelations made, the restoration of relationships, and the entry into a glorious future, and even the promise of hardships. We will ponder the role of cups and promises, access to Kingdoms, and the reversals of true intimacy. We will end with the glorious feast of the Lamb that awaits every one of us as followers of Christ. Happy Easter! BECOME A GOSPELSPICE MEMBER TODAY! Have you noticed our brand new website? Nehemiah 2:17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace. ” My pastor is teaching through the book of Nehemiah. After reading the verse above and the surrounding verses, he said it's one thing to only see the problem, it's another thing to see the potential. In this episode, I will explain why two songs came to mind and then, of course, I will play them for you. The two songs, you ask? 146: Looking Afresh at the Creche

The Creche (the Nativity scene) is a staple in many homes and public places during the Christmas season. We most likely were taught when we were young about each person depicted in the scene, learned that Jesus was born in a manger (hence the animals present in most creche's), and in all of that came to understand via osmosis how our individual families relate to Jesus's birth and the wider Christmas story. For many of us, those impressions and story elements formed and hardened into "our" story.  But has that story gone stale? Does it still move our souls in the way it might have once upon a time? Has our growing into adulthood and experiencing faith shifts kept us from leaning into Christmas, allowing worries about historicity of the story and mismatches in the Gospel accounts to come to the forefront? In this episode, our wonderful guest, Jody England Hansen, shares ways that she has reanimated the season by various approaches to the use of the creche--Creche Afresh! She shares various rituals that can surround our putting out the pieces and figures, ones for just ourselves but also for involving children of all ages. The ultimate take-away from our discussion is that it takes more than just a mother to birth God into the world! We are all needed, and by reflecting on the nativity scene we can each find how we are called to that.  I think you will find this episode to be very interesting, informative, thought-provoking, and powerful. Perhaps your Christmas will be better from taking the time to listen in today!
