I'm going to shoot it to you straight. I struggled with what I wanted to say for the next couple of episodes. I had this vague idea of a topic and it just felt wrong. So instead of going with it, I went with my gut and posted one of those “True or False” posts on Instagram. One of you wrote, “True or False: You used to be a Christian and now your beliefs are more New Age” and I think so many people were surprised when I said False. Throughout this season we've touched on my spiritual journey, but I wanted to go a little deeper because my health and my beliefs have truly walked hand in hand. I have never been more sick than when I was wholly focused on the church and I've never been more well than when I focused on my faith. Even when I was at the height of my inner turmoil and felt so bitter, so lost, so confused, and so jaded, I never once felt as if God had left me. He was there and held me through the pain and the turmoil and gave me the space to come back the root of my beliefs and faith. In this episode:[00:36] The time change has really messed me up this week. What about you?[04:01] True or False: You used to be a Christian and now your beliefs are more New Age. Hear the answer. [06:27] This episode is about trusting your gut and my spiritual journey. [12:36] I'm taking you back to the beginning and providing more about my history and upbringing. [19:42] Learn the first red flags I saw as I was growing more involved in this new church. [23:18] Denying your intuition over time causes true division in your body and brain. [30:50] Why do we feel like we need to revel in our suffering? [32:23] I got to a point where I was so shut down, so sick, and I was falling apart. [33:44] The straw that broke the camel's back. [37:11] When I left the church I lost everything about my identity at that time, but it all changed when I gave myself permission to not go to church if I didn't want to. [40:48] Even through the time when I was so over church, God was still there holding me. [42:00] Come back for the next episode to hear more about how I got from despising everything about the church to where I am in my faith now. Links and Resources:Check out Kossma Beauty and get 10% off your order: https://kossma.com?sca_ref=3234045.RbRkbQw19uCheck out Araza Beauty Here: https://arazabeauty.com/?rfsn=5696612.7d62e3 Use code fullynourished for 15% off your orderI'm launching my first membership!!! You're excited to be pregnant. You're supposed to be glowing, but instead you look kind of green. If you feel nauseous or you just threw up, it's probably morning sickness.Jade Elliott spoke with Hannele Laine, here an OB/Gyn from Intermountain Healthcare To help you know how to make it through morning sickness.Morning sickness is common and may be under-treatedAccording to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 50-80 percent of pregnant women experience nausea and 50 percent experience vomiting or retching.Morning sickness may be undertreated. It often begins prior to the first appointment, so women sometimes wait for the appointment rather than asking for help. In addition, women may not seek treatment because they believe it is common and usually temporary or because they're concerned about the safety of taking medications while pregnant. What causes morning sickness? The specific cause of vomiting during pregnancy is not known. One hypothesis is that it due to the change in hormones levels during pregnancy.Common myths about morning sickness:1.It only occurs in the morning. False: You can have morning sickness any time of day.2.It's resolves after the first trimester. False: A few women have it last into the second and sometimes even into the third trimester.3.It harms the baby. False: Typical morning sickness does not harm the fetus. What increases your risk of severe morning sickness?Severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is called hyperemesis gravidarum. It is more likely to occur with these risk factors:A twin or triplet pregnancy.A previous pregnancy with nausea and vomiting. In women who have family members with nausea and vomiting of pregnancy.A history of motion sickness or migraines.Being pregnant with a female fetus.Simple ways to help reduce morning sickness:Eat small meals, every 1-2 hours to avoid a full stomach and to avoid hunger.Eat bland, dry foods like crackers, cereal, toast or baked potatoes.Eat some protein with every meal.Avoid spicy or fatty foods.Eat something before you get out of bed. Keep crackers on your nightstand.Take prenatal vitamins at night after a meal or switch to folic acid alone.Avoid unpleasant smells as they may trigger nausea.Try ginger capsules or candies, ginger ale or tea made with real ginger.Wristbands that put pressure on or electrically stimulate a pressure point on the wrist may help. How to prevent morning sickness from becoming severe:Avoid getting dehydrated. Try taking little sips all day of something like Gatorade.Seek treatment early to prevent severe symptoms requiring hospitalization.Talk to your provider about how to manage your morning sickness and review possible medications that can help.Keep your prenatal visits and call if you are having trouble between visits. When to call or see your provider:If nausea or vomiting is severeYou pass only a small amount of urine or it's dark in colorYou can't keep liquids downYou feel dizzy or faint when you stand upYour heart races or is poundingYou're losing weightIf nausea or vomiting begins after nine weeks of pregnancySevere nausea and vomiting could be caused by something else:Warning signs that your nausea and vomiting may be due to another cause:abdominal pain or tendernessfeverheadachethyroid enlargement or swelling on the front of the necknausea and vomiting that occurs for the first time after nine weeks of pregnancy. If you have severe nausea and vomiting, your provider may want to do additional tests to evaluate other causes of the symptoms. Show Notes: [0:00:53] Intro | Timely Topics Previous Episode & Series Recap [0:02:36] Bridging the Gap from Uncertainty to Culture The norms and stardards, i.e. the default state of behavior in your organization. When you have these figured out, you can answer the question, "What do I do when I don't know what to do?" [0:04:49] "Now we're going to talk about Culture." What is your company culture? It's a BIG umbrella! The textbook definition, the assumed, the implicit and explicit. "Your culture is a combination of who you are, what you value, and how you behave." Creating a great company culture. You don't control all of your company culture. You have leverage and input, but you can't dictate the culture. It's just as much what your team brings to the table. True or False: You can't know what your culture is in the early days, because people make up your culture? There's a weird irony to unpack. Each new hire brings something to your culture. Culture fits & culture adds Diversity [0:13:17] The Contradiction/s of Culture? Expand to do more, be more, say more. What's the cultural focus? Sometimes we hang on to the wrong things. It's far to easy to use "culture fit" as a way to discriminate, both consciously and subconsciouslt. Stop it! [0:17:16] Examples of Things That Make up Your Culture How do you approach work? What is your stand on work/life balance? How do team members interact with one another? What is your management/leadership philosophy? Challenge: Poll your team. Ask them, "What do you think our culture is?" If you have someone on your team you hope doesn't contribute to your culture...oops, too late, they already have! [0:22:31] How Does Your Culture Get Conveyed to a New Hire? Making sure that we convey the culture we know about to other people. Don't be a smoke and mirrors company when it comes to your culture. There's who you are, and who you want to be. [0:25:38] Wrap-Up, Takeaways, Parting Words You likely don't have one company culture. Next episode: Purpose...what's yours? Why are we here? True or False: You are a worthy individual regardless of what you do? You simply need to exist? According to Dr. Kara Pepper, the answer to that question is a huge True. You are worthy, you simply need to give yourself permission to believe it.    Dr. Pepper followed her childhood dream and became a physician, had the husband, and had the two kids. The problem came when she realized that her life was hard...every single day. Surely this wasn’t what she’d worked for all those years.   It took coaching and learning how to manage her mind and her expectations for herself to bust out of some epic burnout. Now she’s helping others to do the same. She’s supporting physicians to manage their burdens and their mindset so that they can find fulfillment in their life’s purpose.    First step? Give yourself permission to take care of yourself.   Listen as Dr. Kara shares more about her background and what drove her to become a physician coach. She’s digging deep into why we as physicians especially find it hard to give ourselves permission to be anything other than perfect. Can you answer this question: What is the most important factor in determining the cost of how you pay for your home? The truth may surprise you. For many people their home is one of their most valuable assets. The tactics of how you pay for it could potentially save you thousands of dollars, or unnecessarily cost you thousands of dollars that may have been avoided. WTR discusses ALL the truths of how mortgages work, along with the costs, and possible tactics to avoid losses. NOTES [00:30] Kevin: This is going to be a two part discussion. Today, in part one, we’re going to talk about the different kinds of mortgages and the many factors that go into the true costs and what it means to have you home actually paid off. [01:30] We’re going to start off with a quiz for our WTR listeners. Remember your answers because at the end of the episode, we will see if they are the same as your original answers [01:57] Brian: People don’t usually like taking quizzes, but this one could save you some money, so it’s worth taking. These answers are what clients would originally suspect (the correct answers are at the bottom of the show notes page)[02:05] True or False? A large down payment will save you more money over time than a small down payment.True- you have less loans and you pay less interest [02:33] True or False? A 15 year mortgage will save you more money over time than a 30 year mortgage.True- interest rates are lower for a 15 year mortgage [02:55] True or False? Making extra principle payments saves you money.True- if you make more principle payments, you’re paying it off sooner and hence paying the bank less [03:13] True or False? The interest rate is the main factor in determining the cost of the mortgage.True- the higher the interest rate, the more you pay [03:25] True or False? You are more secured having your home paid off than financed 100%.True- if it’s paid off then it’s good to go, because the inevitable may happen where you can’t pay off the mortgage payment [04:00] The first thing to consider is that there are a lot of types of mortgages out there[04:17] Can be quite confusing when you look at all of the options what is the best type [04:52] It’s up to us to try to figure out from a business perspective which ones we can do the best with (to save the most on or make the most on) [05:03] Everything that you know, you probably think is true (if you know it, it must be true). Every once in a while, however, we come up against an idea that we don’t really know the answer to (don’t know if it’s true or false). When we come up against that kind of information, we can either accept that idea (get a bigger box to accommodate it) or we can reject it because it doesn’t fall within our box of knowledge[05:54] When it comes to mortgages, many people find mortgages to be an emotional subject because it’s tied to their house. What we think is true about mortgages may or may not be true in reality[06:13] If we come up with a different conclusion, it’s not necessarily false just because it’s different [06:33] Let’s talk about financing in general. There’s two types of financing[06:46] Self-financing: taking money out of your bank account to pay for a house, which results in a cost (not getting interest) [07:21] Bank financing: using the bank’s money to pay for a house, which results in a cost (interest rate for the use of that money) [08:25] Reasons/ factors why you may want a mortgage[08:38] The majority of people can’t write out a check to pay in full for your house [08:57] When you have a mortgage, you get to have a possibility of a tax deduction in some cases[09:53] By taking a mortgage, you can actually create a tax deduction for yourself, which isn’t a bad thing [10:02] There’s potentially a spread between the cost of borrowing and what you could earn (let’s call it in a side fund)[10:15] Let’s suppose that you have the option of either writing a check to pay...

#11 I have an online money mindset course called Awakening Abundance. One of the key lessons of this course is called “The Cold Hard Truth on Being Comfortable.” In this lesson I teach the four dangers of your comfort zone, along with information about your financial blueprint and how to take an honest look at your current relationship with money. Now your comfort zone isn't only dangerous from a money mindset perspective. In my opinion a comfort zone is the last place you want to be when you are creating or setting goals. I used to hear it with my coaching clients all the time, “Val I just want to be comfortable” and honestly I would CRINGE when I heard it. If you're someone who is aiming for comfort, look around you. Look at all the things you have in your life right now. You obviously have some sort of technology like a smartphone, tablet or computer, and access to the internet. You have made the time to be part of this broadcast or replay. You see, if you don't already feel comfortable; at this point in your life… I'm not sure if you will ever be truly satisfied. It might seem harsh but… think about it. What more could you possibly need to feel “comfortable?” Maybe you're realizing you want something more than comfort. Perhaps you're looking for luxury? Or maybe you desire freedom? You could actually be craving less of materials to open up space for more time? Whatever it is, it probably isn't comfort. When you were setting your goals or resolutions, or maybe you were just thinking about 2019, were you aiming for expansion? Personal development? Or Mediocrity? Stagnation? And Staleness? Or perhaps you set “safe goals” that don't grow you? Let me explain the 4 main dangers of your comfort zone. Danger Number One: Your Comfort Zone is Unhelpful Your comfort zone isn't helping anyone. When you choose to aim for “comfortable” what you're really telling the Universe is, “Everything is okay as it is. Don't stretch me. Don't gift me. Don't excite me. Bring in enough on the next pay cheque to pay my current bills.” The Universe delivers. You go about each day the same. You don't worry about your bills because you have your job - for now anyway. But the truth is, you are not adding any value to the world. And babe… you were BORN TO ADD VALUE TO THE WORLD. You were born to succeed and help others. You were born to give and to receive. Ask yourself: does being comfortable afford me the privilege of helping others? Danger Number Two: Restraining Wanting to be comfortable is holding you back from being your best self. You were born to be the best you can be, and “comfortable” isn't your best. It isn't my best. Open yourself up to the world, to possibilities, to the abundance of life. Get yourself into motion, shake things up! Learn a new skill, meet some new people. Be vulnerable, be open to growth and love. There is a quote by Thomas Jefferson that I always remind myself of before I'm about to do something new and I'm scared. He says “If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done.” What is it that you need to do to achieve what you truly desire? Danger Number three: It's False You don't actually want to be comfortable. Comfortable is stagnation and being stuck and even if you think you want it right now, you won't want it for very long. If you look at the goals you created for 2019, or if you really think about what you desire. If you were to choose three words to describe how you want to feel in 2019, I HIGHLY doubt one of those words is “comfortable.” When I was creating the Awakening Abundance course I interviewed several people and one of the questions was how do you want to feel. Some examples of the feedback were: “relief, excitement, relaxed, proud, stress and worry-free, at peace, empowered, confident, financially free, successful, and generous.” But NONE of the responses was ever “to feel comfortable.” Not a single one. The truth is you deserve to be happy, and confident, and empowered, and free, and generous and all those incredible and abundant things. The final danger is Number Four: Mediocrity Comfortable is too ambiguous. It's not a goal. Comfort might feel nice, but it's essentially wanting to be mediocre. Set aside the ordinary, it is time for extraordinary! If you're still reading this post, I know that you're ready for more. I know you're ready to leap out of your comfort zone and move into growth and expansion! And guess what!? The magic happens outside of your comfort zone! Outside of your comfort zone are limitless possibilities and opportunities for growth! The Universe is limitless and SO ARE YOU! The only limits we experience are the ones we create for ourselves (usually in our minds).   So what are you waiting for?! What moves are YOU going to make today to stretch yourself and grow? What leaps do you need to take?  And don't feel like you have to ask anyone else what yournext move is, because it's really up to you - and you ALREADY KNOW what to do. If you were looking for a sign to move forward, let this be it. Unapologetically live your best life; let magic into it.

I have a couple few friends in my neighborhood who I have been training and racing with for more than a decade. Two in particular, Todd Stockford and Tom Beal. I never have to remind myself to look up the All American rankings, because the moment that the All American list is announced, I get a group text with my neighbor's standings and scores.   When my friends and I carpool to races, we talk about the scores and which races someone qualified for Nationals. We'll talk about where Nationals or Worlds is going to be this year or the next. It gives our racing context and purpose. But there have been things that have been a bit of a mystery to me. Things like how did USAT come up with the decimal score they assigned me during a race? I've generally understood that the people that show up to a race can influence the score that I get, but how? I have an athlete, Amy Miller, who has qualified for Nationals and is very much in capable of achieving All American and Team USA, and I wanted to get the facts for her. So I thought let's get the experts on the show and help all our listeners. Welcome back. Our post interview discussion is sponsored by Halo Neuroscience. The Halo Sport from Halo Neuroscience will help you learn the technique and form to get faster. 20 minutes of neural priming with the Halo Headset gives you an hour of neural plasticity to work and lock in the muscle movement that leads to strength, power and endurance. If you are looking for a premium gift for your endurance athlete for the holidays, this is that item. Use code MHE150 to save $150. Topics: USAT Ranking System Converting a race time into decimal format:   From Nick - we change participants’ times into minutes using a mathematical formula Example 1: a time of 00:49:30.0 would change to 49.5) Example 2: a time of 02:11:08.0 would change to 131.133 – 2x60(hours into minutes) + 11 minutes + 8/60(seconds into minutes) Any time over one hour will take the number of hours and turn that into minutes. Two hours equates to 120 and three hours will equate to 180. This is why the above example has a decimal time of 131.133. 2 hours into minutes - 120 + the 11 additional minutes. and then changing seconds into minutes as well. How are Race Scores Calculated? Our ranking system uses pacesetters to determine a par time for each race. Every race has a unique par time, depending on who has competed. It is important to understand the basic concept behind the ranking scores: scores are calculated as a comparison between an athlete’s race time and the projected time of the best age group athlete in the country (par time). For example, if the par time of a sprint race is 60 minutes, someone who completed the race in 72 minutes would be 20% slower than the best age group athlete, calculated as 1.2 times the par time. However, we do not know who the best age group athlete in the country is – so we estimate his/her performance by creating a Par Time. It would have been possible to give out ranking scores based on these numbers, where the lowest score is best; a score of 1.0 being the best score and all other scores going up from there. This way, it would be easy to see how each athlete’s times compare to the times of others. However, in most sports the higher scores reflect a better performance. It was decided to take the inverse of this number (1/1.2 for this example giving .833333) to achieve this goal. Fractions of “1” are not sufficient, so this number is multiplied by 100 (giving our example athlete a score of 83.3333).   There are six steps used to determine race scores:   Find all possible pacesetters: Determine which participants received an overall score in the previous year. These participants are considered “pacesetters” in this event. (Note: pacesetters are not athletes who competed in the race the previous year as well as this year. Pacesetters are any athlete who received an overall score based on any three on-road triathlons (2 or more races of any other sport) from the previous year. An overall score tells us what type of performances the athlete generally puts in.     Convert minutes into decimal format: We change participants’ times into minutes so they can work in the mathematical formula (example: a time of 00:49:30.0 would change to 49.5) (example: a time of 02:11:08.0 would change to 131.133 – 2x60(hours into minutes) + 11 minutes + 8/60(seconds into minutes)   Find each pacesetter’s calculated time: This is done by multiplying each participant’s time in minutes by their pacesetter score (final score from previous year) then dividing that by 100 (this removes a certain percentage of their time). This tells us how quickly an athlete that is ranked at a 100 could have completed the course.   Remove top and bottom 20% of calculated times: Drop the top 20% & bottom 20% of calculated times. This removes any extraordinarily great performances (a pacesetter significantly outperforms their previous year pacesetter ranking) and extraordinarily poor performances (causes could be a flat tire or dehydration for example).   Determine Par Time: Average the remaining 60% of calculated times to come up with the “par time.” We are interested in the “par time” as this is what all of the participants’ times will be compared to when calculating their individual rankings. Competitors are actually racing against the “par time” as far as scoring is concerned.   Determine each participant’s race score: Divide each participant’s (decimal) finish time by the par time, invert and multiply by 100. (For example: assume a participant had a finish time of 49.5 and Par Time was set at 45 minutes Original Score: 49.5/45 = 1.1 Inverted Score: 1/1.1 = .909090 Race Score: .909090*100 = 90.9090   Races with 2, 3, and 4 pacesetters, do not have any pacesetters removed from the par time calculation. It is not until you reach 5 pacesetters that we will begin to remove the top and bottom 20%. We do not want to remove pacesetters when there are too few and we can't get a grasp on their performances by removing them.    8.For women, they then get a gender graded adjustment of 10%.   Triathlon Trivia - qualifying for ITU Worlds and Team USA What percentile to you need to rank in a:s Local - 15% State - 25% Region - 35% True or False: You don't have to compete at AG Nationals to qualify for Worlds and Team USA The first ___ of the top ___ All American in each AG can earn a spot to Worlds and Team USA True or False: A collegiate athlete can qualify for AG Nationals at NCAA or Club Nationals  News https://303cycling.com/colorado-classic-to-feature-only-women-pro-cyclists-in-2019/ http://303triathlon.com/blind-colorado-athlete-sets-ironman-record/   YouTube Video of the Week is sponsored by Rudy Project. True or False: You can’t be a real artist and make money. Most other professions are more reliable and stable than any kind of art. A lower percentage of artists make a stable, livable income than other For art to be pure, the artist should not do it for the money. The only way for an artist to “make it” they must “sell out.” If you answered TRUE to ANY of those statements, you need some de-programming. In this week’s episode Jeff Goins will help set you straight. Click here to download or listen to this episode now. Spiritual Foundations Our word for this episode comes from Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” We all know what happens if your computer gets a corrupted hard drive. It’s been infected and is no longer capable of properly performing the task it was assigned. The same is true for the words you speak. If they are infected with negative and hurtful attitudes they are no longer capable of performing the task they were given from God. What is that task? Your words were designed to edify, uplift, and encourage those around you…and yourself. Selah. Tip of the Week Our tip of the week, not surprisingly, is connected to our guest Jeff Goins and his new book, “Real Artists Don’t Starve: Timeless Strategies for Thriving in the New Creative Age.” One of the things I love most about this book is that it debunks the myth of the starving artist.
