EARLY ADOPTER, 15min., USA Directed by Matt Szymanowski After a tech junkie's addictive research into a new technology that probes the deepest realms of consciousness nearly kills her, her partner decides to do something drastic to prove just how fragile their relationship and life really is. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12937582/ https://www.instagram.com/mattszy Get to know the filmmaker: I was inspired by the question about whether the great answers of the universe are either outside of us or within us. Most often people look outside, and their pursuits are even noble and true. And looking outside leads to great discoveries. But paradoxically these discoveries could be external manifestations of the knowledge and wisdom that is also in us. And I wanted to convey this idea in two people who stand on opposite sides of the matter, and these two people are also lovers and partners, and they accept each other regardless of there differences, however difficult it is. Alec Worley is an award-lacking (his own words!) author from South London. He writes comics, fiction and audio drama about swords, fangs and lasers. He's best known for his work on 2000 AD (home of Judge Dredd), Star Wars, and for legendary horror director John Carpenter. He's one of those really annoyingly talented people, with an eye for story and an ear for dialogue. You know the ones. He's also a dead nice bloke. Total Recall stands apart from our other 90's action films in this Four Play cycle through its cutting satire, intriguing themes on the nature of reality, and genuine intelligence. Paul Verhoeven's 1990 science-fiction banger was frequently misinterpreted upon its release but has aged beautifully in spite of the gratuitous violence and cheesy acting by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film toys with its main character's reality through his memory implants and leaves interpretation to the audience as to whether the film's plot happened on Mars or in Quaid's head. Total Recall injects gratuitous violence and action as a send-up of American cinema while raising intriguing questions on the manipulations of mass media and authoritarianism.
In this thrilling episode of Wize_N_Nerdy, we embark on an adventure filled with fantasy, sci-fi, and humor! We kick things off with our beloved "Question of the Week," asking our audience about their favorite iconic fantasy and sci-fi weapons. Joe and Charles bring their unique perspectives, leading to an entertaining discussion where Charles hilariously stumbles on the name of his deep-cut favorite. The Dice of Fate, as mischievous as ever, roll the dice and set the tone for the episode with "Daddy Tell me a story." Charles spills the beans about his exciting new studio, sharing his creative journey with the listeners. As the dice continue to dictate, we delve into "Let Daddy Decide," where we engage in a friendly debate about sick days and the hilarity of malicious compliance. Laughter ensues as we share anecdotes and opinions on these quirky topics. A well-deserved break arrives with our lively "Commercial Dance Break," allowing our listeners to stretch their legs and minds before we roll the dice once more. This time, it's all about "Bad Dad Jokes" — brace yourselves for some cringeworthy humor that'll make you groan and laugh simultaneously. Thankfully, Joe rescues us from the dad joke torment, uplifting spirits with the segment "What are you Nerding out about?" We take a wild ride through various exciting topics, from Demon Slayer and Temu to Audit the Audit and Driver Defense Team, exploring the vast realms of entertainment and knowledge. However, fate has one last twist in store for us: "Can you dig it: Sarcastic humor?" The dice bestow upon us the challenge of weaving sarcastic humor into the mix, and although it's not what Charles anticipated, the result is a delightful surprise, delivering laughter and wit. Finally, we conclude the episode with our signature tagline: "They may not be your father, but they will always be your daddies!" A heartwarming reminder of the unique bond we share with our listeners. Join us for this incredible journey as we celebrate all things fantasy, sci-fi, and laughter on Wize_N_Nerdy podcast. Fantasy/Sci-Fi Author Talks Third Book In Series#scifi #fantasy #author #books #bookseries #warminster #jvhilliardDiscussing pop culture and the new book in the Warminster seriesBorn of steel, fire and black wind, J.V. Hilliard was raised as a highlander in the foothills of a once-great mountain chain on the confluence of the three mighty rivers that forged his realm's wealth and power for generations. His father, a peasant twerg, toiled away in industries of honest labor and instilled in him a work ethic that would shape his destiny. His mother, a local healer, cared for his elders and his warrior uncle, who helped to raise him during his formative years. His genius brother, whose wizardly prowess allowed him to master the art of the abacus and his own quill, trained with him for battles on fields of green and sheets of ice.Hilliard's earliest education took place in his warrior uncle's tower, where he learned his first words. HIs uncle helped him to learn the basics of life—and, most importantly, creative writing.Hilliard's training and education readied him to lift a quill that would scribe the tale of the realm of Warminster, filled with brave knights, harrowing adventure and legendary struggles. He lives in the city of silver cups, hypocycloids and golden triangles with his wife, a ranger of the diamond. They built their castle not far into the countryside, guarded by his own two horsehounds, Thor and MacLeod, and resides there to this day.Website: https://www.jvhilliard.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jvhilliardbooks/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JVHilliardBooksTwitter: https://twitter.com/JVHilliardBooksGoodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/jvhilliardcomVimeo: https://vimeo.com/jvhilliardThanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteAnd Now!!! Terrence Potter has been a fan of fantasy science fiction since he was a boy. However, it was hard to find African American heroes. As he got older, he noticed the lack of diversity in superheroes and began to create the diversity he wasn't seeing. Underlying message to his readers: Be the change you want to see. After a failed first attempt due to technical difficulties, this week I was finally able to sit down and chat with the incredibly talented Caitlyn Martin about her career journey into the world of voiceover. A singer first and foremost, Caitlyn was forced to make a career shift when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and ended her ability to do live shows. Not only did she have to find a way to earn a living, but she also had to find a skill that she could do while in quarantine. Caitlyn now has a booming career in voiceover and is the voice of of our Fantasy/Sci-Fi scripted podcast series called Tech Witch. Her story is such an inspirational testament to the value of perseverance and the success we can find when we put in the work. Amanda and Jenn discuss unreliable narrators, romantic suspense, historical mysteries, and more in this week's episode of Get Booked. This episode is sponsored by The Shimmer by Carsten Stroud and Tonight I’m Someone Else by Chelsea Hodson. Questions 1. I recently began a mini book challenge with my 2 book worm friends. We each thought of ideas for the challenge and are tackling them together but have run into a bit of a dry spell. We are interested in looking at books with unreliable narrators as well as short stories or short story collections. Do you have any suggestions? --Sandra 2.Hey there! I'm looking for some recommendations on good WWI era books. I've read all the classics (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, etc). I've tried reading "The Guns of August" but its so dry it’s hard to get into. I'm fine with a perspective from any country involved in the conflict (though particularly interested in either German or British). I pretty much love any genre, just want to read a really good book! PS: Your fantasy recs are amazing, I've found so many great books listening to your advice, thanks! Thanks! --Radhi 3. Hello! My request is for a romance novel that I can get into. I've never really been a fan of the genre, but I really want to give it a shot, and I feel I just haven't found the right ones. I know it can't be that I'm averse to romance, because I've read plenty of stories that have romance, but that weren't categorized as romance perse. I think I may just have a hard time relating to the characters most of the time. I'm a huge fan of the TV show Jane the Virgin, which is BIG on romance, and I love the drama of it. So I was wondering if y'all could maybe find something along those lines, with the telenovela feel, and definitely a Latinx protagonist. Bonus points for queer representation as well. Thanks! --Meagan 4. Hello! I am currently in a reading slump and need help picking up the next amazing book that will keep me up way past my bed time. I'm looking for a mystery/suspense romance recommendation. I've recently read authors such as Nina Laurin, Loreth Anne White, Louisa Luna, B.A. Paris, Kristen Lepionka, and Peter Swanson which I have all enjoyed. Two of my most favorite books are Too Late by Colleen Hoover, and He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker. Please no fantasy or sci-fi. Thanks in advance! --Kimberly 5. Hi! I'm a huge fan of the podcast! I'm working as a library aide in a college-prep high school with a diverse student body and high-achieving students. I've had some requests for the Rick Riordan books; in the interest of exposing my kids to authors and books that get less buzz and helping them bridge the gap between middle-grade and adult reads, I'm looking for something similar. Along the lines of "You liked Harry Potter, now try Akata Witch!" or "You liked Tolkein? How about The Tiger's Daughter?" Preferably with non-white authors and characters, at a YA or adult level. Thanks in advance, --Jessie 6. Hi - I'm a serious reader and love, love, love books! I usually read literary fiction - I love a good, deep story, that's well written and has characters that live with me off the page. I like books to be places where i can learn things in relaxed ways and expand my knowledge of the world. Recent books I've loved have been A Little Life / Home Going / Alias Grace and Pachinko. I recently read my first Fantasy / Sci Fi novel - The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin and to my surprised - i LOVED IT! I loved the world building, the strong female characters, the challenge it posed in how it was read, and it was so beautifully written. I also like the idea of there being 2 more books in the series for me to get my teeth into. This is a new genre for me - so id like some recommendations of where to go next - Im looking for SciFi / Fantasy - that's thoughtful, not male centric, mature (im not a lover of YA fiction) and tells a super well written story. Thank you so much --Mitch 7. Hello! I am a huge fan of the National Treasure movies, and I was a history major in college. I love mysteries, especially ones that put a spin on an historical event. I have read all of Dan Brown's books and I enjoy James Rollins as well. Do you have any recommendations that would fall into this category? I would love to be able to listen on audio, but any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. This week I talk once again to Mr Gav Thorpe about 3 of his recent/upcoming releases in the Black Library. They are 3 diverse subject areas and mediums covering audio & written format and 3 totally different sets of characters. Its always fun to talk to Gav as he is really open and gives great opinions about his craft and his work. A fun chat again and I am sure his releases will all be big hits. It was really interesting to hear his opinions on audio books/dramas and the differences between regular novels and the auditory mediums. If you want to support the show then please checkout our patreon page and help us to improve the all round experience for everyone involved in the show and the paint page. Another reason to check out the Patreon page is that I am going to start a spin off periodical podcast where I discuss my move to China and the experience of finding a gaming community there. Only Patrons will get access to this, but the regular podcast will still be available as normal. I hope to tell an interesting story of my journey to a totally different country and my efforts to find people to play geeky games with, its going to be a fun experience and I’d love to share it with you. https://www.patreon.com/paintalltheminis

It was shot entirely within the vast city of London, England. The lead characters Joe Absolom (most known for Eastenders and his recent work Doc Martin) and Kerry Bennett (from Hollyoaks and Casualty) do an impressive job and will keep you engaged in the story. This episode we have Mark J Blackman director who will tell you that Neon is a culmination of his decades of experience. We also have Roxee Holman, the film's producer. Their production company, the Joker's Pack has an impressive range of expertise in the international film industry, and we are honored to have them here with us. Fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Which of these three has more appeal for you? How are these different from each other and why do we like them (or not like them)? Even though you may have a preference, our discussion finds that the crossover elements can enhance the experience with favorite pieces of work. However, why do people tend to steer away from one particular category? Is it too broad or too technical and realistic? Listen and find out if you agree! The panel: Jen Wise, Mindy Inlow, Ann Laabs, and Kayce Taylor
