2025 really started with a bang with a new game reveal by one company and big changes at another, while the show season got off to a flying start in both the US and the UK. So, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News are back to bring you all the exciting news from the industry throughout the month of January in their Pinball Industry News PINcast. Last month's PINcast anticipated the reveal of Stern Pinball's first new release of the year, and sure enough Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant's Eye duly launched, with public premieres soon after at CES in Las Vegas and EAG Expo in London. Jonathan and Martin were at EAG to play it, but they also got to sit down with Gary Stern, John Buscaglia and Doug Skor from Stern Pinball to talk about the new game, the latest news from the company as well as the state of the wider industry, while Gary also shared his cooking tips. Big changes at American Pinball where their EVP David Fix is one of many staff no longer working there as the owners look to transition the company into a contract manufacturer. Whith hardly anyone left, what does are the prospects for their seventh title which is ready to launch? To find out, the duo speak to David Fix about his departure and those of his fellow employees, while exploring the convoluted way American Pinball has been managed in recent years, where the business is now, and which of their many development projects might yet see the light of day. One feature being newly integrated into one American Pinball game is the Scorbit scores and achievements tracking system. But they aren't the only ones adding Scorbit, as Pedretti Pinball announce it will also feature in the next code update to their Funhouse Remake game. Speaking of which, there are lots of new code updates this month, including Jersey Jack Pinball's Avatar: The Battle for Pandora reaching feature-complete v1.00 status and Spooky Pinball's Looney Tunes getting its new wizard mode. Plus, there is news of a Customer Referral Program from Multimorphic which could save $1,000s on a new P3 game, the opportunity to get a Toy Story 4 game with a $2,000 discount, the latest updates on the two Alice in Wonderland titles in development, and a hands-on review of Homepin's The Blues Brothers game. There's also a look at the potential impact of trade tariffs being imposed by the US and the resulting retaliatory action, as well as sad news of the passing of a prolific and popular pinball voice artist whose talents you are almost certain to have enjoyed. Can you believe it's already the start of another new month? The good news is that a new month means a new Pinball Industry News PINcast with Jonathan Joosten from Pinball Magazine and Martin Ayub from Pinball News. Having covered the first few days of the month in the previous PINcast, the duo look back on all the excitement from the pinball world throughout the remainder of September. After numerous teases, Jersey Jack Pinball finally announced their tenth game with the launch of Avatar: The Battle for Pandora. Featuring six flippers, three under-playfield areas and numerous wireforms criss-crossing the playfield, perhaps the greatest innovation is the use of UV-reactive ink across the playfield, plastics, inserts and sculpts. There's also a first-time pinball artist who created the playfield, cabinet and backbox art package, as well as a musician who composed the music for his first ever production pinball. To find out much more about them and the rest of the game, Jonathan and Martin are joined by the game's designer, Mark Seiden. Having launched their latest title just a few days earlier, Stern Pinball have been busy building and promoting their The Uncanny X-Men with video streams of gameplay along with a number of changes based on audience feedback. The company has been busy in Europe too, attending the IAAPA Europe event en masse, as well as hosting an evening with Gary Stern at the Dutch Pinball Museum. October is Pinball Expo month, so this latest PINcast looks ahead at what we can expect from all the major players at the show. There's also full details of the extensive seminar schedule and how you can get to enjoy all the main talks even if you can't be there in person. There's news about the debut of Homepin's new The Blues Brothers game, who has signed an exclusivity agreement with Spooky Pinball, when you can see and play DPX's new Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, who is manufacturing what, and why it looks like your final chance to get one of these titles before it is discontinued. Get all this and so very much more in this latest September 2024 edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast – the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Grab it right now from your favourite podcast supplier, find it on YouTube and YouTube Music, or get it direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget to subscribe to the PINcast to guarantee you get the freshest episode every month, the very moment it is published. It's time to talk pinball, and who better to talk about the industry, the hobby, the rumours and the latest developments than the heads of three of the biggest pinball companies? Join Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News in this latest edition of their Pinball Industry News PINcast looking back at all the exciting news from the pinball world throughout the month of January 2024. The duo got together for the EAG International Expo coin-op trade show in London to play the latest titles from seven different manufacturers, including two models of Stern Pinball's newest game, Jaws. To find out more about how that game was created and the latest developments at Stern Pinball, they sat down with company Chairman, Gary Stern. You can hear their interview with Gary exclusively in this month's PINcast. American Pinball has been the subject of plenty of rumourmongering of late, much of it unfounded. To get at the facts, Jonathan and Martin talk to the company's Executive Vice President, David Fix, to find out the steps being taken to bolster their customer support, how they are introducing a new board system into their future and previous games, when their next game might be announced, why the company definitely isn't for sale, and much more. While at the EAG International Expo, your PINcast hosts also got to sit down for dinner with head of Jersey Jack Pinball, Jack Guarnieri. Jack was there to promote his company's Elton John and The Godfather games which were being exhibited and earning very favourable reactions from those who got to play them. You can hear that ‘Dinner with Jack' exclusively in this month's edition of the PINcast. Plus, there is news from all the manufacturers exhibiting at the EAG show, including details of how pinball is re-joining the line-up of games at one large coin-op distributor and operator, and who might be behind a mysterious new upcoming game launch. Meanwhile, there is news of a new appointment at Spooky Pinball, expected changes to This Is Spinal Tap, lots of new game add-ons now available and shipping to customers, and news of the first in a series of new miniature pinballs. All this and much more is packed into the latest edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast. So, make sure you haven't missed out on any of this excitement by streaming or downloading the podcast the pinball industry listens to. Grab the latest edition of the Pinball Magazine and Pinball News PINcast from your favourite podcast supplier or direct from Spotify on the link above, and don't forget to subscribe to guarantee you get all the freshest episodes each month just as soon as they are published. While the Legacy/mainstream media is looking at another mass shooter with an allegiance to pronouns, how many heard about the stabbing death of a cab driver at the hands of another violent and unhinged trans person. A man who now thinks he's a woman, was out on no bail after felony threats of violence just a few days earlier. But, it was a stabbing so it's not as politically useful, is it? John Kirby doesn't want the press to report on leaked information from the Pentagon. It's amazing how this Administration truly has no regard for the First Amendment. Here are the top 6 revelations from those leaked documents thus far: Photos to a spring of`fensives with different losses than we've heard; Ukraine has only 5-6 weeks of air defense capabilities left; South Korean doesn't want to give ammo to the US for fear it will end up in Ukraine; Israel was pressured to get in the Ukraine conflict, even if anonymously; Russian hackers supposedly cyber-attacked a Canadian pipeline, but Canadian officials are saying it's not true; and, Mossad agents in Israel may have been working to undermine President Benjamin Netanyahu over his judicial reforms. Outside of those revelations, yet another story just hit from those leaked Pentagon documents revealing Egypt was conspiring to sell 40,000 rockets to Russia and to keep it hidden from the US. Our enemies are slowly turning our allies, both overtly and covertly, against our nation while we worry about the woke agenda and the dismantling of our own nation. Speaking of our own dismantling, new documents suggests the Fed may have instigated the violence during January 6. I know that's shocking to most of you, but it seems the mound of circumstantial evidence continues to build against the FBI and others in our own government. Similarly, according to a post from America First Legal, Gary Stern, the National Archives' General Counsel, confirms in an email obtained by them that “the Justice Department, via the Biden White House, had made the [special access] request,” regarding the documents at President Trump's home, Mar-a-Lago. We already told you that last year, but it's nice to see those facts finally being brought to a more public light. Bud Light is learning, go woke, go broke. They are facing some significant financial losses and backlash to their new VP of Marketing's woke, virtue-signaling goal of spotlighting the transgenderism cult movement. Finally, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre beclowned herself (again) by saying in the history of presidents, Joe Biden is unprecedented in the number of shouted questions he answers from the Press Corps. Even the sympathetic propagandists in the room rolled their eyes and verbally disagreed with that blatantly false assertion. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Hear about his marketing agency and how the idea to turn his story into a movie started back in 2020. We then discuss how pinball used to be illegal in New York City, discovering pinball in college, working at GQ, being challenged to write a book, and testifying at City Hall it was a game of skill, not a game of chance. Learn about life choices, working in advertising, how others got their start in pinball, plus ideas how you could get into the industry now. Hear about home enthusiasts being a huge boost, going international, and thousands of events, tournaments, and leagues happening every year.  We then dive into some of his favorite games and projects, including the ones he designed, along with his licensing work on Elvira, NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Terminator 2, Arctic Thunder, and other games. Learn about the growth of barcades, the explosion of the industry, the difference to video games, and cooperative play. Hear about his concern on the recent pricing of pinballs, not going too hardcore on the game design, and thoughts on licensing.  Towards the end he shares a great story about Gary Stern, the legendary Harry Williams, his pinball book, and some current games he's playing or interested in. Learn about websites you can check out, the March 17th, 2023 release date, the irony of making pinballs in Chicago but not being legal years ago, and how this little indie movie is winning awards (go check it out).  Bio: Roger Sharpe's demonstration of pinball as a skill-based game overturned New York City's thirty-five-year ban on pinball machines in 1976. A Product That Changed a Life In More Ways Than One: Interview with Gary SternBorn in Baltimore, MD.  He and his mom ended up in a small town near the Kennedy Space Center on the Atlantic Ocean.    He was constantly in the ocean where he learned to surf and sailboard. He'd get to visit his brother in Colorado where he got the snowboarding and mountain biking bug.          Gary, graduated as a Physical Therapist from the University of Florida.  He had every job imaginable to help pay the bills.  Lawn service, landscaping, restaurant, retail, construction - the list goes on and on.  He had the opportunity to work with professional athletes and public figures from all over the world at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO, quickly establishing a reputation for helping these patients extend their careers.       Life's trials weren't over yet though.  His father died of cancer in May of 1998 and I moved back to Florida to take care of his mother who was also diagnosed with cancer.  He was blessed to meet his wife Danielle soon after moving back to Florida.  He got married 2 years later.  He went into pharmaceutical sales working for GlaxoSmithKline in an attempt to increase his salary while allowing more flexibility of my schedule to care for his mom. She passed away in May of 2000.     He needed an outlet and quickly found one in cycling.  Training and racing became his "therapy".  He went on to race successfully for 15 years, racking up numerous wins in mountain biking and road racing including 5 Florida State Time Trial Championships.   This led him to meeting his coach and good friend, Simon Kessler.  He never realized how important this meeting would be to his life's direction.     Simon called him up and asked him to take a look at a product he was suggesting to his coaching clients.       That became a life-changing journey! Gary was able to "retire" from his pharmaceutical career and never look back. He had the opportunity to travel all over the world to share the message of time and financial freedom.  Website:Gary Stern (garystern2.com)Eric Reyes: Host of Hey Coach! EPISODE 46 A-Block (1:46) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump just convicted himself of Obstruction of Justice. (2:50) The big debate within DOJ about charging him is about "consciousness of guilt." Could he have NOT known he had illegal possession of documents (including one detailing the nuclear capabilities of another nation)? If as The Washington Post reports, he actually packed the boxes himself, he knew - and the debate is over. (3:45) And to make it worse, he tried to suborn perjury, to get his attorney to sign a document in February saying he had returned all the documents (4:38) Which could lead to a conspiracy, since he DID get another attorney to sign the same kind of document in June (5:36) An entirely separate second path of Obstruction and Conspiracy was opened by his conversation with Maggie Haberman about the Kim Jung-Un letter (7:12) All of which explains the timing of his suit against CNN (8:45) And his threat to sue the 1/6 Commission, which may register in only one place: (9:00) CNN, where Chris Licht and John Malone have spent six months brown-nosing Conservative politicians in hopes that the leopards wouldn't eat THEIR faces. B-Block (13:17) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Whisper (14:20) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: It's one thing to be anti-abortion and to have a news organization prove you paid for a girlfriend's abortion, but it's quite another, Herschel Walker, to then be repudiated in public by your own son. Plus the Oaf Keepers' trial starts (18:06) IN SPORTS: Albert Pujols yes, Aaron Judge no; Monday Night Football fan flattened; National Women's Soccer League devastated by new report of coach corruption (20:50) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Scott Jensen and Kim Kardashian compete with a Twitter Karen who can't tell the Pennsylvania Senate from a minor league baseball team. C-Block (25:19) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The day I met actor Walter Matthau, his improbable hobby of vocal impersonations, and the kindness he extended me that was so extraordinary that though it was the only time I met him, when he died years later, I burst into tears.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The XFL is looking for money, but who should they get to invest? What's next for the latest cuts from the NFL and which league between the XFL or the USFL should those players be targeting for their next stop? What's next for the CFL after this crazy week with Gary Stern's departure from the Montreal Alouettes and the trade of Vernon Adams Jr. to the BC Lions? We tackle all of those questions and more with our slate of guests which includes Brendan Coffey from Sportico, Ric Serritella from NFL Draft Bible, TSN's Matthew Scianitti, and Cody Grace from the Calgary Stampeders.Brendan Coffey of Sportico stops by the program to chat through his latest article coming out regarding the XFL looking for investors ahead of its 2023 launch. Brendan fills us in on why the XFL might be seeking money from outside investors, what types of partnerships they might be looking to form with these new investors and why the XFL needs to give up such a high stake (potentially) of the league to entice new investors.Ric Serritella from NFL Draft Bible makes a long overdue appearance on the show to recap some of the latest USFL cuts and signings as NFL teams completed their 53-man rosters this week. We talk about the success of the USFL season 1 by having at least one of its players on an active NFL roster, talk about what's next for players cut by the NFL potentially heading to an XFL or USFL roster and the differences Ric sees in the scouting and talent potential for both XFL and USFL.TSN's Matthew Scianitti sits down from his hotel room getting ready to cover the REDBLACKS at Montreal Alouettes game this week to run down all the craziness that was CFL Week 13 thus far. We discuss Gary Stern's abrupt departure from the Alouettes' day-to-day operations, discuss the big BC Lions acquisition of Vernon Adams Jr., commiserate Randy Ambrosie's unenviable task of seeking out a new potential owner for the Alouettes, and pontificate over what's next for Trevor Harris as the (potentially hesitant) face of the Montreal's CFL franchise. Finally, Cody Grace courtesy of the Calgary Stampeders makes an appearance to preview the big Stampeders and Elks home and home games coming up. We cover his CFL season thus far, goals for the squad the rest of the year, and if the team can make a deep playoff run under the new (and permanent?) on-field leadership of Jake Maier.0:00 The Markcast Episode Promo2:20 Show Intro7:34 Sportico's Brendan Coffey, XFL Investor Interview24:59 NFL Draft Bible's Ric Serritella, NFL Cuts to USFL/XFL Interview54:12 TSN's Matthew Scianitti, CFL Week 13 Interview1:15:21 Calgary Stampeders' Cody Grace Interview1:25:29 Show Outro, Giveaway Photos

The episode of Best Seller TV features David Black, author of Ripped Apart: Living Misdiagnosed. Gary and Carol Stern's Epic Fight Against Malpractice in the American Healthcare System as well as Carol Stern, one of the book's protagonists, and her story of perseverance. We all understand the U.S. healthcare system is a complicated, bureaucratic institution. While there are plenty of good stories to tell, this one isn't. Ripped Apart: Living Misdiagnosed is a four-year journey where Black goes into excruciating detail telling the story of Gary and Carol Stern and the abject failure of the healthcare system. Gary Stern spent three years with his internal organs outside of his body – however, Black thinks of the book as a love story. A story of a dedicated wife who advocated for her husband, fought one of the largest industries and even the White House. Black states that the “healthcare system is incoherent” and “schizophrenic.” On the one hand, it's meant to heal the sick, while on the other hand, it's a highly bureaucratic entity and those two things don't go together. He says one-way patients (and their loved ones) can better protect themselves from medical errors is to ask questions. “Keep asking questions until you get an answer you can understand,” he urges. Once patients do that, they will be better equipped to make better judgments about their own healthcare. This book is for everyone, or anyone, who has had to navigate the healthcare system and become an advocate to those who need one. Stern emphasizes that notoriety is not the ultimate goal for her, but she hopes that her story changes what patients go through that could lead to malpractice and for medical professionals to admit their mistakes sooner too and; hopefully, offer better treatment options. As a long-time writer for television, and other books, Black says there are only three types of stories in the world: writer against something larger (fate, God, nature), people and other people, and person up (or against) his/herself. This story touched all three categories, making it an incredibly descriptive project, rather than merely a superficial one. Stern advises people to push the envelope if they don't feel they're getting the right answer and listen to what the patient is saying as no one knows their bodies better.
