YOUCAT Love is a must have for every person 18 years and older because it actually answers your moral and practical questions about not just sex and marriage, but also friendship, dating, and engagement.   Get your copy here: https://ignatius.com/youcat-love-forever-yclfp/?searchid=0&search_query=youcat+love   Today, Ben Eriksen is joined by Thomas Jacobi, editor at Ignatius Press, and Alexander von Lengerke, YOUCAT illustrator, to talk about the new “YOUCAT Love Forever book.” The three of them discuss the importance of this work not only for college students, but also for young adults, engaged couples, and even those that are already married. This book explains the Church's teaching on gender and sexual morality. But it isn't a list of don'ts; instead, it articulates the beauty of God's understanding of love and what beautiful possibilities there are for those that avail themselves of His love and plan for their lives. Yet this book isn't just a moral guide and explainer; it seeks to give people concrete practical answers to specific and detailed questions about dating, engagement, friendship, and marital struggles. We truly believe this book can revolutionize how Catholics understand love, and we hope it finds its way into the hands of every person.   Visit Alexander's website: https://www.alexanderlengerke.de/   SUBSCRIBE to our channel and never miss an episode of the Ignatius Press Podcast. Traditional Thomists are normally unfriendly to Henri De Lubac, but today's guest, Fr. Cajetan Cuddy points out that Thomists are very indebted to De Lubac and should join him on the battlefield.   Fr. Cajetan Cuddy is a Dominican priest, scholar, and Youtuber who recently presented at the De Lubac conference hosted by the John Paul II Institute on Marriage and the Family. He joins us today to talk about De Lubac and his critical insight into the rise of constructive atheism. Fr. Cuddy and Ben Eriksen talk about De Lubac's response to this new threat to the human person. They also discuss the tendency of academics and intellectuals to focus too exclusively on the academic end of writing and researching while ignoring the search for truth and God who is much more than an intellectual principle. Their conversation not only provides insights into our modern culture but also demonstrates the crucial overlap between intellectual inquiry and one's lived experience.   Get your copy of De Lubac's works here: https://ignatius.com/authors/henri-de-lubac/ More Information on the De Lubac Film here: https://delubacfilm.com/   Check out these great resources! Dr. Peter Kreeft believes that the best argument against God's existence is the problem of pain, and in today's episode he provides spiritual insights into this mystery. Get Your Copy of “Making Sense Out Suffering” here (Book Releases 3/20): https://ignatius.com/making-sense-out-of-suffering-msosp/?searchid=0&search_query=making+sense+of+suffering Suffering afflicts us all; whether you are suffering now or will experience great suffering in the future. Naturally, suffering causes us to question God's love, His providence, and even His existence. But suffering must not cause us to reject God; instead we must wrestle with Him and ultimately unite ourselves with Him. Dr. Peter Kreeft beautifully illustrates this process of wrestling with God in this episode and in his book “Making Sense of Suffering.” Written when he himself was going through great suffering, Dr. Kreeft blends personal experience, spiritual wisdom, and philosophical perspective to reveal the truly Catholic approach to suffering. This book is not written on the mountain top as one who no longer suffers or has all the answers, but from one in the valley of tears who encourages his fellow Christian to look to the Heavens. We highly recommend this book and conversation for all who experience great pain, sadness, or suffering. It will be a true consolation but also a challenge as we place all our trust and hope in God.   SUBSCRIBE to our channel and never miss an episode of the Ignatius Press Podcast. Are you a priest or discerning a vocation to the priesthood or know somebody who is discerning? Then this is the book for you—“Distributed Like Bread” (pre-order for release at 3.2.26) https://ignatius.com/distributed-like-bread-dlbp/?searchid=0&search_query=distributed Hans Urs von Balthasar is well known for his great contributions to theology, but few know of his practical thoughts on priesthood and discernment. Therefore, in today's episode, Dr. Jonathan Ciraulo and Andrew Petiprin discuss Fr. Balthasar and how he integrated his scholarly life and his priestly vocation. Dr. Ciraulo points out that Fr. Balthasar never received any formal education in theology beyond his time at the seminar and he sought to remain a student chaplain instead of an academic position. This kept him grounded in his theology and uniquely fit to guide priests and those in the process of discernment. Dr. Ciraulo highlights Fr. Balthasar's humility, his intellectual curiosity, and his openness to God. They also discuss Balthasar's thoughts on priestly celibacy and donatism—the heresy that claims that validity of the sacraments depends on the virtue of the priest. This insightful discussion and corresponding book “Distributed Like Bread” will truly help give all people a greater appreciation for this supernatural vocation. He survived the front-line trenches of World War I and participated in the French Resistance of World War II. He lived to see the murder of the last Tsar of Russia, all the way to the fall of the Berlin Wall. During his life, he was known as a controversial theologian who was eventually elevated to a Cardinal by Pope Saint John Paul II and participated in the Second Vatican Council. Today, we are joined by Geoffrey Zokal and Sam Soruch, who are creating a detailed documentary about Henri de Lubac. In this episode, they not only comment on the extraordinary life of Henri de Lubac, but also touch on some of the more controversial elements of his theology. A team surveyed children in India who work in markets, to see whether the skills they learnt there transferred to the classroom. While proficient at solving market-based arithmetic problems, they struggled to solve problems typically used in schools. The reverse was seen for children enrolled in schools with no market-selling experience.
