An Urchin Tracking Module (Thank God someone shortened it to UTM) is a parameter. When you go into your email and go to click on a link, look at the link. It will often end with something like “UTM_Source=” AKA a parameter. They identify themselves with platforms like Google analytics. So if you click on a link in an email, the UTM will tell Google Analytics that you came to someone's site from an email. It will tell them the email you clicked on and even the subject line. Social media is a place you can get really busy and it's great to know if your activity leads to results. That's why a UTM is important. You might go into Google analytics and see something like Facebook.com/referral or Pitnerest.com/referral. You know those platforms caused that person to come to your site. With UTMs you can take it a step further and know exactly where the referral came from (such as a paid ad or pin that they clicked on). You get better at identifying where your traffic is coming from. How to set up a campaign with UTMs Chris points out that when you share a photo or story you usually have a call to action where someone can click on a link to learn more. When you create that CTA, you can add the UTM parameters. The goal is to identify the who, what, and the why. Who is sending you traffic? What type is being sent? What was the purpose of the traffic? If Chris just enters his homepage, Google will tell him they came from Instagram to the site but it doesn't tell him much else. But he could add the parameters “UTM_Source=Instagram” to identify the source of the traffic (i.e. the “brand name” of the traffic source). He could use “UTM_Medium=Social” to know it's stuff that he's sharing for social engagement (i.e. the type of traffic). A parameter of “UTM_Campaign=Academy” can tell him the purpose of the traffic (to join his training academy). A UTM allows you to identify where to spend your time, including the platform and type of posts. You can really hone in and employ the most effective marketing for your business. Using UTMs should NOT be optional for you. Listen to the whole episode to hear Chris explain why you should use UTMs for emails—and how to do it! Moving house is stressful. The logistics for packing, timing, changing utilities, and even the emotional journey of packing up a lifetime worth of memories can be daunting to those who don't do it regularly. Today, we find out how to choose the right removalist to make the job as smooth as possible.Having experienced more than 20 moves in the past 40 years, you could say Howe Tran has accumulated a lifetime of experience when it comes to hiring a removalist. His company, the removalist comparison platform, Findamover.com.au has helped hundreds of thousands of stressed Australians each year by allowing them to choose the right removalist for the job and relocate successfully, locally or interstate.1. What type of removalists are there to help move our home?2. How can I screen a removalist before choosing one?3. If I want 2 movers and a truck, what is the going rate?4. If I want all the bells and whistles - packing, pre-sale storage, fragile items, piano, what type of removals would be best suited for the job?5. Once, I moved house literally around the corner, and the removalists suggested they do 3 smaller moves, rather than packing the truck to the brim. It ended up costing me twice what I expected to pay as they took about 13 hours. What hidden costs can blow out the cost of moving house?6. Chris from Rosanna had a bottle of Grange Hermitage from his birth year and told the removalists that he would move it to his new home. He wrapped the bottle carefully in some blankets and put it on the back seat of his car. When he opened the car door at his new home, the blanket unravelled and the bottle fell to the ground, smashing the precious grange, leaving a stain on his new driveway. If Chris had allowed the removalists to move it, he would have been covered, but was never told. How do you know when your belongings are covered for damage, and when they are not? a). Why won't removalists take things like gas bottles from a BBQ, and other flammable objects?7. What's the best type of service for someone needing to move interstate or overseas?8. What type of moving company should we stand clear from?9. Who do you turn to when you encounter a problem with a removalist?10. How does 'Find A Mover' help people needing to move? Contact:If you would like to find our how Howe can help you with your next move, go to www.findamover.com.au or email: info@findamover.com.au or if you would like to be a registered moving company on findamover.com.au, you can gain more customers by being part of this successful comparison platform.

In this episode, Chris and Ryan break down why you must be relevant in everything you do. Some great examples Chris talks about, if you are talking about something that no one knows you for, then they won't listen. If Chris is talking about football or business then people will listen, if he is talking about magic tricks, it is so irrelevant to what he represents that people will tune out. Business is the same way and you must learn to focus on your brand and message and stay in that path. In this episode, Ryan and Chris talk about why they had struggles selling an Ice Shaker with hunting camo on it. It's not relevant and does not represent the Ice Shaker brand of health and fitness.
The Train Rolls On Chris Marker Le Train En Marche (1971) First the eye, then the cinema, which prints the look…. A stunned episodepost tory election landslide,in which we listen simultaneously,to both the French and English soundtracks,of Chris Marker'sLe Train En Marche,in an attemptperhaps,to revisit, and evenfind a route back to,the utopiandreamsand projectsof both early and latetwentieth century cultural marxism. …the train of revolution, the train of history has not lacked reverse signals and switched points but the biggest mistake one could make was to believe that it had come to a halt. “If Chris asked you to do something you did it: There was no question”, recalls Marc Karlin in one of his last interviews before his death in 1999. ‘Chris’, needless to say, was Chris Marker, Karlin’s friend who he called ‘le maitre’. The task was to provide an English version of Marker’s recent film Le train en marche (1971) – a celebration of the Soviet era filmmaker Alexander Medvedkin and his mythical ‘kino-poezd’ – a ‘cine train’ re-fitted with cameras, editing tables and processing labs, that travelled the breadth of Russia to make films for and with the workers. Films made on the spot, in collaboration with the local people, (workers in factories, peasants in kolhozs), shot in one, day, processed during the night, edited the following day and screened in front of the very people who had participated to its making… Contrarily to the agit-prop trains which carried official propaganda from the studios to the people, here the people was his own studio. And at the very moment bureaucracy was spreading all over, a film unit could go and produce uncensored material around the country. And it lasted one year (1932)!Medvedkin saw his kino-poezd (294 days on the rails, 24,565m of film projected, 1000km covered) as a means of revolutionising the consciousness of the Soviet Union’s rural dwellers. Marker hoped his recent unearthing would incite similar democratic film-making. In tribute, Karlin and other kindred spirits in London joined Cinema Action.” There was a relationship to the Russians. Vertoz, the man and the movie camera, Medvedkin, and his agitprop Russian train; the idea of celebrating life and revolution on film, and communicating that. Medvedkin had done that by train. SLON and Cinema Action both did it by car. Getting a projector, putting films in the boot, and off you went and showed films – which we did”. The people were brought the filmmaker’s cinema, in the same way they were brought the artist’s art and the expert’s science. But in the case of this train the cinema was to become something created with contact through the people and was to stimulate them to make their own intervention.

In this episode of #MotivationalMentors, Christine Saunders who is an Empowerment Coach stops by to talk about her story and how to be open to new opportunities by following your heart. It’s been a whirlwind for Christine, also known as Chris, during the last 12 months in particular with opportunities arising themselves all the time. In the last 12 months ago, Chris has been approached by a magazine and is now a regular featured writer as well as being approached by a radio station to host her own radio show. If Chris had listened to the fear and the made up stories she told herself about how “she wasn’t a writer or radio host” then she wouldn’t be doing what she’s doing. Instead Chris listened to her heart, gut, intuition call it whatever you like and knew these opportunities were too good to turn down and just went for it. We hope this episode of #MotivationalMentors will inspire you to do the same. If you find this episode helpful please subscribe and leave a review. Chris cites the US Bureau of Labour Statistics’ report, a report that states humans tend to consume only 19 minutes of reading a day, including email, blog posts, etc. By contrast, Chris reminds us that people on YouTube consume over 1 billion hours of content per day. When it comes to audio, Chris says that just like video, there is a massive amount of audio being consumed. Can you tell us more about your podcast?Chris says that even though he has been podcasting since 2005, he has been doing it differently than other people. He starts and stops podcasts all the time. He thinks of them more like a series, like episodic content. His current podcast is called “Making the Brand,” a podcast all about consumer experience. Chris decided to start a podcast as a way to get into people’s ears. In his podcast, he does interviews to illustrate where technology is going. What’s your take on long form audio vs short form audio?Chris is a giant fan of brevity. He states that when people decide to launch a podcast, they usually decide to do an hour-long episode just because that’s what they’ve seen others do. Chris believes they usually don’t have enough content for an hour. According to Chris, there’s an opportunity that if you make a brief enough show, you can give someone some variety in their commute. With flash briefings, he says, there’s such an opportunity as there is currently a really wide open market. If you can give someone something really useful in a minute, they are going to love that experience. How do you decide what to put into a short form audio piece of content? If Chris has certain information he wants to cover, he builds a format that would fit in one minute. Chris structures the briefing so that there’s an intro, then the meat, which is about 35-40 seconds, and then he guides people where he wants them to go. He gives people something that’s interesting, something that raises an eyebrow, and peaks curiosity. What’s your take on smart assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant? When it comes to smart assistants, Chris is really excited. He thinks Alexa is really great for shopping and product stuff. He also believes that Google Assistant has some really cool things. Chris highlights a caveat: these devices need us to create content, skills, and services to become smarter and do more complex tasks than simply being able to tell us the time. What’s your advice for people starting in voice? If you’re just dipping your toe, Chris recommends starting with a podcast, but he reminds us that flash briefings are ridiculously easy: you set it up and almost all of the mechanics are the same as for podcasts. The only difference, he acknowledges, is that flash briefings are expected daily, whereas podcasts are expected weekly. Chris also shares something he’s noticed: there’s an inclination for people who haven’t started a process like this to say that everything is already out there. Chris concedes that while yes, that is true for podcasts to a certain degree, flash briefings are brand new and a tremendous opportunity right now.And remember:I have created the most thorough course on flash briefings available. As you know, flash briefings are the prime real state of voice technology. The course covers everything that Chris and I talk about in this podcast episode and much more: how flash briefings work, the equipment you need, what you should talk about, how to plan, organize and upload your flash briefing, among many other components! This will be your one-stop shop for all flash briefings questions and needs. WHAT IS YOUR UNDERLYING MOTIVATION? We’ve all been through a lot in life. I know there’s been a lot of times you’ve felt tested, and even just beat down. As you’ve gone through these challenges you’ve acquired sets of skills to help you get through them. Those are important skills that have helped you along your journey, whether you realize it or not. Unfortunately, though, your skills may not help you with what’s next. Life is about continually growing your tool box and being adaptive and not giving up on what you were meant to do. Even though it may be hard to know what that is, you just have to follow your heart. Live for yourself, not for others. That doesn’t mean be malicious. You still need compassion and companionship. Just know you can do good for yourself and others at the same time. On this episode of 5 Minute Friday, I wanted to bring you back and episode from Chris Guillebeau. Chris is a NY TImes Best Selling Author, a modern day explorer, and has been to nearly every country in the world. He’s certainly faced an overwhelming amount of challenges, some we can only imagine. That’s why I felt he was the best person to dive even deeper into this lesson. Learn all about compassion and building your skill sets through your personal trials, on Episode 678. In This Episode You Will Learn: What makes a true quest (00:42) How to know when to continue the quest and when to stop (1:39) Why you need to keep building skill sets (2:24) Something you should give that’s better than advice (3:49) If Chris feels he’s been getting enough companionship (4:16) Chris’ definition of happiness (5:18)
Decoding Business Success Through Curiousity Chris Sims is the Vice President and co-owner of the tech startup, Codifi. They focus on paperless data solutions and workflow consulting. But before he joined Codifi, he worked as an archaeologist all over Central America, the United States, and Portugal, even studying Neanderthals and the ancient Maya. How did this engineer-turned-archaeologist-turned-tech-VP get to where he is now? If Chris has to claim to be an expert at something, Chris would say he's an expert at staying curious. When he's trying to solve something, Chris comes away with more and bigger questions. People trust him to know the limits of technology, the limits of the way they do their work. When you fully know the boundaries of something you can push beyond them. Chris started pushing the boundaries of working paperlessly when he was sent to do an archaeology project by himself in rural Indiana and he tried to find ways to make less work for himself. Questions You'll Hear Today: How did this engineer-turned-archaeologist-turned-tech-VP get to where he is now? What do you think are some of the professional challenges to overcome that are unique to millennials? How does your second life as an archaeologist shape your approach to what you do with Codifi? What influences or sources have you found useful in forming your leadership philosophy? What are some of the differences between working for a company and having high levels of responsibility, and having ownership in your company? What is one thing you want to help other millennials understand better about career development? When I asked him why he wrote the book, without hesitation, he mentioned his two elementary-age children - an eight year-old son and a daughter that's 12. "They don't have a chance," he said; referring to the future job prospects that won't be waiting for them once they reach their teen and adult years. And, as the value of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and street smarts, continue to skyrocket, building a business, working in your strengths, and doing what you love, has become less of a game of "fitting in" and more of an opportunity to "belong". In his own words - "The time for average is over." Advisor, strategist, keynote speaker, and best selling author Chris Brogan joins us on the show to share his learning experiences from his professional relaunch as well as ideas and tips from his latest book, The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth - a real-world playbook for nonconformists, cubicle refugees, out-of-box thinkers, and misunderstood pioneers.
