It's back to just us ghoul-friends this week! And we managed to both have some witch storiez to tell. Sarah starts off with the strange death of Christopher Case. Shoutout to Reddit user r/chickenwinganxiety for the write up. Is Chris' death easily explainable with the diagnosis of acute myocarditis, OR, was it the curse of a witch that came to deadly fruition?? Either way - if you learn something, it's your own fault. Stephanie wraps up the episode with some Pennsylvania Dutch history. Did you know they practiced their own spells, rituals, and even pow-wows? And the colorful decoration you see on the outside of barns is actually a "Hex Sign" that's meant to ward off the Devil and other evil spirits. It's a lighter episode than previous weeks, and what can we say...it's a nice episode for some white witches.

After a nearly 6-month absence from the show, original Smorgasbord Radio show co-host Dave Jackson returns to the studio. Chris decides to take advantage of Dave's return by dialing the rhetoric back a bit from where the show has gone in recent episodes. Jerome Malauskas has taken his responsibilities of Chief Conspiracy Correspondent (CCC) seriously and as a result, the SmorgShow was starting to go into territory we strongly resisted for many years. Hence, the rather benign episode title, "Coffee with Chris and Dave". We have shelved the whiskey in favor of our favorite brew so it is safe to get the family together and gather around your listening device of choice. With Ally's wedding just 90 days out, Chris has started to panic about writing the perfect Father of the Bride speech. Here, we discuss essential elements of a perfect speech and the top gaffes to avoid. Is Chris up to the challenge? Baba Gonesh takes a break from his duties of International News Correspondent and taps into his wealth of knowledge of Hindu customs and traditions with the first of 3 installments of 'Baba Wedding'. In this first installment, Baba addresses the #1 asked question submitted to him through our feedback hotline, "What is up with India and the arranged marriage?" Finally, Chris and Dave head to the local cafe to have a hot brew and to discover the specific personalities associated with each type of coffee. We've known for quite some time now that Horizon: Zero's Dawn's long-awaited sequel was en route. We've even had a title (Forbidden West) and target platforms (PS4 and PS5) since it was first revealed in 2020. But now? Well, now we have 14 minutes of gameplay to talk about, along with a very, very conspicuous absence of a release date, or even year. So, let's jump back into Aloy's futuristic (yet crumbling) world and measure our excitement for and expectations of Guerrilla's new project. Let's also return to the realm of JRPGs, specifically with Square Enix's dueling franchises Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The former is rumored to be getting a PS5-exclusive spin-off based on the original game, while the latter's 35th anniversary celebration brought with it a few games worth discussing. Finally, we'll work our way through the rest of this week's news -- PS+ games, Uncharted 4 on PC, new Sonic titles, and more -- and end, as we always do, with listener inquiries. Where should Grand Theft Auto VI take place? Should Sony be better at calibrating PS5's supply with demand by adjusting pricing? What's the most important IP to ever run on PlayStation hardware? Is Chris' constant state-of-being simply one long yawn? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Business Method Podcast: High-Performance & Entrepreneurship
How does the FBI, CIA and Special Ops teams negotiate with kidnappers, international terrorists and the most dangerous people on the planet? Are there secret strategies to negotiate that give you a superpower for getting anything that you want? What if you just learned a few key tips on negotiating to save a couple thousand dollars on the price of your next car? Well the truth is, there are tips and strategies we can use to learn how to be better negotiators, they are easy to learn, and it doesn't take months of training to pick up. In fact, everything in life is a negotiation. You negotiate with people you live with, your family, and friends, strangers, and you even negotiate with yourself on a daily basis. Quite often, they are simple things like what you're going to eat for dinner, other times they are more important things, like what school to send your kids to. Good negotiation is really about good communication, and learning to the back and forth of communication well. It is not about manipulation, but about empathic communication, and understanding others points of view. Today, we have one of the top authorities on negotiation on our podcast, and I am really excited to have him on the show! His name is Brandon Voss, and he is the President of The Black Swan Group. The Black Swan Group is a strategic business advisory firm that focuses on business negotiation. Their negotiation structure stems from Brandon's father Chris Voss who was the FBI's lead international kidnapping negotiator for 20 years. They use hostage negotiation skills to solve business negotiation problems, and it works like a charm. It is a process that recalibrates communication efforts in order to close better deals and create long lasting relationships. Brandon is Black Swan's thought leader with respect to the three main negotiator types: The Analyst, the Assertive and the Accommodator. Knowing these three types can change your results massively when closing deals. It gives you an edge over others when sitting at the negotiating table. Throughout the show, we are going to discuss Brandon's strategies, how to use them to make more money, find out how to mitigate conflict with confidence, become a better communicator, and create better relationships in our own lives. Last, but certainly not least, we will talk about the little known ‘Black Swan' effect that is essential to understand when negotiating any deal in your life. 04:57 Who is Brandon Voss? 06:38 Brandon's Most Intense Business Negotiation 14:17 Understanding The Emotional Brain 19:05 Neuroscience of Negotiation 25:10 Is Chris' Negotiation Strategy any Good? 31:57 The Next First Move 35:27 3 Negotiator Types 38:49 The “Black Swan” 44:12 How To Disconnect From a Desired Outcome 47:54 The Short Game 51:02 The Mirroring Tactic 53:40 Active Listening 59:10 Brandon's Dream Negotiation 01:02:32 Where To Find Brandon Voss? Who knew that we'd talk about Six Days in Fallujah for two weeks in a row some 12 years after the original iteration of the contentious game was cancelled. Yet, it's all our sphere wants to talk about, as the FPS revival of Six Days is drawing the ire of predictable industry-types. The question, though, is simple: When does criticism of a game stop being about the game itself, and start being about the critic? This is a deep subject, so naturally, we dive right in. Plus: The DualSense class action lawsuit is on, Avengers is getting its PS5 update very soon, Legends of Mana, Ninja Gaiden, and even Xbox-exclusive Stubbs the Zombie are all PS4-bound, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Does G4's revival have any prayer of succeeding? Following the recent Nintendo Direct, are we hankering for a State of Play? This is a time of year when many people give thanks for what they have. On this episode of Retirement Answer Man, I explore the definition of thankfulness and gratitude with our Rock Retirement Club retirement coach, BW. He even brings us 5 tips that can help us to cultivate gratitude on a regular basis. Tanya Nichols joins me again to help answer listener questions. You’ll learn what you can do if you are worried about a market crash, what to do if you think you are too old for long-term care insurance, and we’ll discuss Roth conversions from a 403B. Press play now to join me to hear the answers to listener questions and more. What are you thankful for? The definitions of thankfulness and gratitude are very similar. Thankfulness is the consciousness of benefit received from others. Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives both tangible and intangible. One way to combat worry is to create a habit of thankfulness. I have done this personally and it has changed my life. Practicing gratitude contributes to greater happiness and it allows us to focus on what we have rather than what we lack. Listen in to hear what I am grateful for this year. 5 tips to help cultivate gratitude on a regular basis Cultivating a gratitude practice can seem like a good idea but it often falls by the wayside after a few days or weeks. The beauty of practicing gratitude is that it shifts your mindset. You can use these 5 tips to help you become more thankful by creating your own practice of gratitude each day. Write and send a thank you note to someone who has had an impact on your life each month. Get in the habit of saying thank you to at least one person each day. Keep a gratitude journal. You get bonus points if you try and come up with different things to be thankful for each day. Pray. If you are religious, praying can help you cultivate gratitude. Meditate. Instead of focusing on your inner self, try focusing on gratitude in the moment. Does sequence of return risk keep you up at night? The world around us seems so unstable right now. Many people worry that we could be at the start of the next big crash. What if we are at the beginning of several years of zero returns? Sequence of return risk is one of the biggest worries of those on the cusp of retirement. Although people worry about sequence of return risk, if you look back at history and study bear markets, youĺl see that even within those years there were good years and bad years. It’s also good to remember that your portfolio won’t directly reflect the S&P 500, we simply use it as a planning tool. How to balance market risk against inflation risk Why do we take market risk when we are worried about sequence of returns? Inflation! Inflation risk is just as big, but it creeps up slowly over time. You have to balance the risk of inflation with market risk. You can take market risk. You just have to know how much you are comfortable with. The first thing you need to do is understand the minimum effective dose of investment risk you need in order to create the life you want. Next, you’ll want to time segment your money by building your cash flow model early in retirement. Plan for statistically probable outcomes and then test for outliers. Listen in to hear the details of how you can protect yourself from both inflation risk and market risk. OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE RETIREMENT ANSWER MAN WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? In this episode of Coaching Conversations, business growth experts Nick and Chris reveal the secrets of good organisation. Chris is back from a well-earned break and admits, facing an avalanche of work is stressful enough without good systems in place. Fortunately, Nick has proven advice for effective day planning – the bottom line being, you will be more effective when you prioritise, intentionally focus and most importantly, remove distractions. Working smarter, not harder is wonderful in theory – but how do you get there when every day is frantic and unpredictable? Learn a few new tricks in this inspiring episode of “Coaching Conversations” with Nick and Chris ….! Show Notes 0.25 Welcome to the show and intro (and yes it IS Chris’ birthday today and his kid wanted cake for breakfast… naturally). 3.00 Nick and Chris discuss their own secrets to good organisation. 4.00 Firstly, Nick is all about “time”; business owners generally work 8 – 10 hours a day – and jump back on at night for a few more. Nick believes you must be regimented with your time to avoid burn out and poor health. Prioritise. Get up half an hour earlier. Do yoga. Meditate. Exercise. Whatever it takes. Make yourself priority number one. That’s non-negotiable. 7.00 Me Time. Food Time. Knock Off Time. Nick believes you can get serious work done in 4-7 hours with decent systems and the right people in the business. If not, you need to adjust your timing to be productive. 8.15 Secondly, Nick is all about “tactical”. Can someone else do the job faster? Are you wasting your time and knowledge when you could be doing something more productive? Software programs, calendar management – look at the tools you use to manage your day. Nick likes to work 15 hour days, Tuesday to Thursdays - and this is how he does it! 10.14 How do you work smarter, not harder? Save money – not spend money? Chris talks about the Two “D”s. The first D is “Remove Distraction”. The second is “Discipline”. You can have the greatest systems in place, but if you don’t follow it, you’re in time management trouble all over again! 15.00 If you want to work three days a week, 15 hours a day – you must have discipline. Remove all distractions and apply focus to ensure you get all the priority based stuff done first. Nick factors travel time into his calendar. 17.10 Intentional focus v distracted focus. Don’t be disrespectful of time. Yours and other people’s. 18.05 Elon Musk’s time management philosophy; he manages his day in five minute increments. The dichotomy is that regimentation actually affords freedom. 21.05 Have you read the book “Profit First”? In it, Mike asks how you can achieve double the output with half the time and resources. 23.35 If you have any questions or thoughts on marketing your business or marketing in general, reach out to Nick and Chris (and remember to ask for your free Quarterly magazine …!) ask@upcoach.com.au EPISODE SUMMARY It takes discipline to improve efficiency in your business. How to crunch twice the amount of work into half the time? Remember the reward for efficiency is a win/win for your team and the company – no one says no to extra money or time off, so work towards these goals. Ask yourself repeatedly, what are you doing with your time? How do you remove distraction? What do you need to enable more discipline? What do you need to plan? Your calendar is your best friend so fill out every working day minute and you will see where spare time is possible. Time and Tactical. Distraction and Discipline. Focus intently on the basics and get your life back – while staying the successful course in business.

Remove all distractions and apply focus to ensure you get all the priority-based stuff done first.

Co-hosts Chris Wright and Graeson Korte dive into fascinating topics yet again. What kind of video games are the best? Is Chris able to explain the joke that he came up with completely in Spanish? (Answer: yes) What is the least funny country? (Answer: inconclusive but the poll done on it was completely wrong) What is the proper way to pronounce "coupon". Graeson decided that his prior time commitments were more important and left in the middle of the show, leaving Chris with the job of keeping the show going. Now Chris has the podcasting blues. Luckily he takes advantage of this and plans to create a new blues album. One question still remains unanswered though: will Chris create a completely new podcast? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pointcounterpoint/support

The Patriots yet again, or the Los Angeles Rams? Will Michigan sports fans keep insisting that Tom Brady is one of theirs? Is there any rooting interest for Lions fans? Is Chris consumed by LA? Will Jeremy talk about squares again? How will these two teams attempt to dismantle one another? Stats, quirky stuff and fun times abound as we prepare for the final game of the NFL season.
