Ever wonder how a confident person conquers every industry, every challenge, every skill they set foot in? It's not because of a magic wand or a handful of self-help books. That kind of victory comes from a set of solid principles, a willingness to fail, and a welcome attitude toward adversity.  Chris Duffin is an author, entrepreneur, thought leader, innovator in the health and fitness industry, and co-founder and chief visionary officer of Kabuki Strength. Having overcome a chaotic upbringing, Chris became a record-holding powerlifter who often uses his lifting to raise funds for charity. Now, he puts his engineering background to work with companies across various industries and build up his own.   On this episode of the Step It Up Entrepreneur podcast, Tomas and Chris dig into finding the perfect middle by chasing challenges and extremes, the mission and approach of Kabuki Strength, how Chris structures his business' values, his teams, his days, and his role as a leader, and getting clear on what you want in life and why you want it so you can focus on the fundamentals and smash goal after goal. Listen in for an interview with one of the world's (literal best) and get some insanely valuable gems to put to work in your life and your business.    What You'll Learn:   Why the “easy life” most people chase all their lives is the thing that's going to kill them faster How Chris is pursuing his goal of changing the entire face of fitness through his companies and their one-of-a-kind processes and teams What Chris' book has in store for readers, including the process of finding extreme clarity and becoming a relentless learner And much more!   Favorite Quote:   “I know exactly what I want in life. I know my values, and I know how I want to live, and I cut out the non-essential, and I chased that shit like it's fucking everything - because it is everything. And I take care of the fundamentals. I'm there with my family. I make sure I get my sleep. From Alex Epstein, host of Power Hour: On this week's Power Hour I have a wide-ranging discussion with Chris Wright, the proud and outspoken CEO of Liberty Oilfield Services. I first met Chris when we tag-teamed in a debate against climate catastrophists back in late 2015. He, like me, came to love fossil fuels despite not coming from that industry background at all (his background was working on fusion at MIT). In the past month Chris has done two very cool things. One is that he has responded to the ESG movement with a report entitled “Bettering Human Lives” that highlights the amazing benefits of the oil and gas industry, and encourages rational thinking about climate. Chris has also been making a lot of noise with a new “Thank You, North Face” billboard and video campaign. In our discussion Chris and I cover: - Why he chose to be an entrepreneur - The response to his revolutionary ESG report - The response to his “Thank You, North Face” campaign - His role working with Mitchell Energy to bring about the shale revolution - What Chris's activist successes can teach other energy CEOs - Chris's plans for future activism - Our common motivations for focusing our careers on energy - How we think about criticism

Today is the first day of Pride Month, yet, as we kick off this month-long celebration designed to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community, we continue to see many states introducing harmful legislation aimed at preventing transgender youth from participating in sports. At NRPA, it’s our position that being recognized as the gender with which you identify is a basic human right. Meaning that for the purposes of recreational sports, youth should be allowed to participate in the gender with which they identify. Last month, NRPA published guidance to empower park and recreation professionals to build more inclusive sport environments that welcome all youth into programming. Today we look forward to building on this guidance through a conversation with someone who is doing incredible work in this space.   We are thrilled to welcome Chris Mosier (he/him) to the podcast today. Chris is a trailblazing athlete, coach and the founder of TransAthlete.com. He is a six-time member of Team USA, and in 2015 he became the first openly transgender man to represent the United States in international competition. He was the catalyst for change for the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes and has been called “the man who changed the Olympics” by the BBC and New York Magazine. He is also a two-time National Champion and the first transgender athlete to compete in the Olympic Trials in any sport in a category different than their sex assigned at birth. Chris is a go-to source for policy and information on transgender inclusion in sports, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the show today. Tune in to the full episode below to learn more about Chris’s story, what all of these ‘firsts’ mean to him, and why his motto is, “Be who you needed when you were younger.” You’ll also learn: How we can apply the same principles used in changing the International Olympic Committee’s policy on trans athletes for adult and youth recreational sports. Why Chris started Transathlete.com, a resource for students, athletes, coaches and administrators about trans inclusion in athletics. What advice he would give to park and recreation professionals trying to create cultures of inclusion in their communities where everyone can thrive. How to take action against recently proposed bills in many states that would prevent transgender youth from participating in sports. Why we need to consider people and our facilities when implementing more inclusive policies. What Chris has planned for Pride Month, and more! Welcome to today’s show!   WHAT WE’LL LEARN: Chris described his deepest roots as being introduced to spirituality by way of “special event Catholicism” God and the idea of a higher power was a novelty to Chris How his relationship with sobriety was one of coercion by being court ordered into fellowships, group therapy, jail, and house arrests. Chris describes his high school locker as a small black marketplace for anything he needed. How being “uncomfortable in his own skin” led to finding relief from alcohol. How Chris fell into a 12 step meeting around his hometown and had friends in that meeting-all young people. This was the first time Chris said to himself, “This could be fun. Sobriety can be cool” How his last year of addiction was the darkest place he's ever been. This led to a call for help from God laden with curse words. From that day on, Chris has been sober. Chris states he did not find spirituality until he found recovery. When going to Hazelden, Chris flashed back to the 1st time he really got sober and hearing the professionals say, “The disease is doing pushups in the parking lot while you’re inside trying to get sober.” Chris clenched onto sobriety as tightly as he could during his stay. Even though his default thoughts were negative. What Chris’s first spiritual experience was like on his walk “taking the long way home.” How the gift of recovery helps one take pause to live a better life. Key Quotes: “The disease is doing pushups in the parking lot while you’re inside trying to get sober.” “I was really self-conscious in addiction and found my voice in recovery.” RESOURCES MENTIONED   A.I.R. He talks about what acceptance is like and how investing in himself gave him strength. How details how he shaped it and in that process it provided him a loving perspective, which gave the day to day an easier way of living . It was noticing how powerless he was, putting one foot in front of the other, and praying for his ex to have great things that would lead him towards a solid foundation to stand on. It was then, as a result of that stance where his road began to get better. In the end of the episode he shares about his little girl growing up and how that freaks him out, but he is aware that he can’t just say "no boys till your thirty"...

He is a truly wonderful embodiment of letting go and allowing for positive energies to flow into life. This positivity is also very noticeable in how he expresses what he does, which is to “create space for what we value.” Chris believes that by creating space for the things we value, and thus organizing them, we in turn allow for joy and positivity to flow into our lives. During our conversation, Chris tells us about his journey with a Live in Flow retreat, reaching out to his inner child, and his healing process. He also tells us about two times in his life when he was able to face challenges with open arms and a positive mindset and how things would have been much more difficult had he adopted a negative mindset instead. How to Generate Motivated Seller Leads Using Radio Marketing

We all want to generate a ton of motivated seller leads, but using radio? Yes, radio may feel a bit antiquated, but according to Chris Arnold, most real estate owners are over 50 years old and still listen to the radio. According to https://www.radioworld.com/news-and-business/programming-and-sales/radio-listening-audiences-rebound-despite-pandemic-impact (Nielsen), even beyond Chris’ expertise, radio listening is on the rise, and people are tuning in with greater frequency to news/talk formats. Those with greater spending optimism are more likely to be heavy AM/FM radio listeners. Radio advertising provides high-quality leads, as the people who take action and call you are serious about doing a deal. And since most investors are using the other strategies where they are less qualified or serious about doing a deal, it could be more efficient for you and your team. Chris is the owner of Wholesaling Inc and the creator of the REI Radio program. He works with clients to get 100 ads per month, per station, for about $1,000 to $2,000 per month. Chris shares tips on leveraging radio to find real estate deals and why radio is the best marketing, yet most overlooked, solution for real estate investors.  Key Insights: Chris’ real estate journey  Why virtual real estate was the way to go, even before COVID The 3 Freedoms we all want: Freedom of resources, freedom of time, freedom of thought, freedom of location  The solution provider approach to real estate investing The two categories of lead generation Why radio is the perfect channel for real estate investors Reaching the prime audience of people aged 50+  The cost of using radio is one of the most affordable marketing The mistake most people make when advertising on radio  How to analyze a radio advertising buy  If you buy marketing right, you will net a high ROI Negotiating radio advertising rates How you obtain immediate leads advertising on the radio The two main things you get with radio marketing that you don’t get anywhere else Radio is a respective form of marketing that provides you instant credibility and celebrity status Radio marketing is excellent for new real estate investors Generating motivated seller leads without the headaches  How radio instills recognition and trust for you and your business Radio is a great way to generate off-market leads What type of real estate investors should use radio advertising The process to follow for successful radio marketing The best way to handle radio live leads The ROI of radio marketing compared to other channels The most competitive radio markets and how to differentiate yourself Transitioning from success to significance What marketers like about radio Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it’s time to pause and reflect. Today’s episode is a little different than my recent interviews – we’re coming to you from the other side of the entrepreneurial journey.Where most of my previous guests have been around the halftime of their lives, Chris Bello is still in the first half of the game and looking to the future. For a coach named Paul Patterson. Chris said, “I think the core of who I am as a coach comes from him.”  Don’t Be Afraid To Pursue Growth -  "As I debated, I realized that I couldn’t blame myself for craving stability – it was only human nature after all. We are drawn by the soft voice of consistency, the allure of a warm blanket of security in our jobs and lives. And while many of us willingly happily give in to living within the status quo, the reality is that the world around us rarely remains motionless. The sun rises and sets, the seasons pass and the world keeps moving and changing. It is only as we grow older and look back at life that we realize all that we have missed, all that we could have accomplished, had we simply pushed ourselves to break free of our fears." "As I found myself deliberating once again, I began to think back to the work of Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck on motivation and failure. Dweck drew a distinction between performance orientation and learning orientation. Children that believe that their intelligence is fixed almost always give up on problems quickly, whereas those that believe their intelligence is malleable, conversely, stick with problems longer. Adults are no different. Those who are performance oriented are dissuaded by failure - they favor stability. Whereas those of who are learning oriented embrace opportunity and eschew the status quo." Head Coaches To Lead Their Teams To 5 Straight 1st Round Tourney Wins: Chris Holtmann, Mike Krzyzewski, Jay Wright, Mark Few, Bill Self, Roy Williams, John Calipari Article: David Brooks - Thick versus Think organizations -- "How To Leave A Mark On People" Focus on the process... "Do today well." "Don't compare yourself to others." Why is Brad Stevens one of the most effective coaches in the world? "He's an extremely curious learner. He has tremendous EQ and understands how to connect with people." Chris got promoted to be the interim head coach at Butler shortly after accepting the job to be an assistant... His boss (athletic director) told him, "You'll be evaluated daily." He came to every practice to watch Chris coach. "It was hard to hear, but it was the reality. I couldn't listen to critiques. I had to coach to my convictions." Living your values: You must make a commitment to your values and live them daily. The values of the Ohio State basketball team: Truth Humility Respect Toughness - "Grit is imperative in successful people. Your response to challenging moments says everything to success." Coach Tony Bennett is tremendously tough. "Calm is contagious." Your response to difficult circumstances is what toughness is all about. Accountability Thankful "He who would be calm must first put on the appearance of being calm." How does one develop composure? "You need people around you to give you honest feedback. We don't realize how reactionary we can be." "Any time you feel upset with a player, wait to talk about it until you can process it. Think it through..." Excellence = Consistency Discipline "Your habits need to match your dreams." Be convicted in what you believe What Chris looks for in a player: Toughness -- "What's the most challenging thing you've been through? How did you respond?" Selfless "What's your body language on the bench when you aren't playing?" "What's your response to a teammates success?" Honesty Advice to leaders: You can't skip steps in the process of being a leader Value the beginning stages Eliminate comparison to others as much as possible Be committed to growing professionally and personally. It's about your daily habits. Your character is put on display. "We write our stories one decision at a time."

If you have ever considered working with a coach only to have your mind flooded with reasons why you should not, you are not alone! It is natural to have these thoughts because our brains are hard-wired to protect us. We can choose to act on these beliefs – which will only hold us back – or we can acknowledge them, let them go, and take action anyway. Getting out of your own way is not easy, which is why having a coach can help tremendously. Lindsey Mango once again joins Chris, where they unpack the most common limiting beliefs that hold people back from working with a coach. We hear more about the fear of not seeing results, thinking you do not have enough money, spousal objections, and believing you are too busy. All of these beliefs are incredibly common and you should not beat yourself up for having them. It is about seeing what they can teach you about pushing yourself and the importance of investing in your most important asset – your mindset. Remember, the thoughts you have go with you into everything you do, which is why coaching is never going to be a waste. We can only go so far on our own, so do not hesitate to get the help you need. Even Michael Jordan had a coach, so there is no reason you shouldn’t. To hear more about how to squash those doubts and get a coach, tune in today!Key Points From This Episode:A quick overview of the four recurring limiting beliefs Chris and Lindsey see.The biggest objection to coaching: People are afraid they will not see results. Our brains are hardwired into protecting us from failure, but this can stop us from trying. The importance of empowering your own mind (and body) to achieve true happiness. It is not about not being afraid; it is about not letting fear stop you from taking action. Why you should not let money hold you back from investing in coaching. If money is holding you back from coaching, what else is it holding you back from? There is no greater asset than your mindset, so invest in it as much as you can! Some of the reasons that we might get held back by our spouse’s objections. How Chris and Lindsey have worked through their different risk tolerances. What Chris and Lindsey would say to a potential client with a spending limit. Why – despite what you tell yourself – you are not too busy for coaching. It is not a problem at all if you need a coach to help you get out of your own way.No-one can achieve big without outside help.Where to find Lindsey online and what she has going on at the moment.Links Mentioned in Today’s Episode:Lindsey MangoLindsey Mango Coaching on InstagramAnything But AverageThe ONE ThingMichael JordanAdam HergenrotherGoodman CoachingChris Goodman

On this episode, we welcome guest Chris Hewish, President of Xsolla. We start by discussing Chris’s take on the effects of coronavirus, his new role at Xsolla, and how he got started in the game industry, offering insight into what he wishes he had known at the beginning. He then shares valuable advice for people entering the industry and for people trying to advance their careers in Design or Production – hint: bootstrapping your way in and learning emotional intelligence can help. Chris divulges a few of his favorite games he’s worked on and what he’s excited about, including the evolution of cross-platform play and games becoming their own social platforms. We discuss some potential threats to the game industry and share candid thoughts on AR/VR/MR technology. Some funny stories are shared, a few including odd pets, and Chris talks about his current game of choice keeping him up. The episode wraps up with an overview of Xsolla’s platform, along with some more powerful advice for people currently working in the game industry. “I wish I had known that sometimes there’s more power, not power in a control sense, but there’s more power in being able to move things forward by listening than there is by telling.”                                       - Chris Hewish Chris Hewish is a multifaceted leader who's worked in both the developer and publisher sides of the business; having been directly involved in designing or producing over 50 Console, PC, Mobile, and VR games. His unique skill-set combines the design and production skills of a developer, with the business and strategic acumen of a publisher; all supported by a servant leader mentality. He’s managed individual game teams, operated multi-game studios, and run worldwide interactive business units at companies like Activision, DreamWorks Animation, Survios, and Skydance Interactive. He loves creating concepts, building prototypes, establishing roadmaps, managing production, owning P&L’s, and being a strategic thinking vision holder who brings the best out of the teams he works with. Chris is the best-selling author of Real Estate on Your Terms: Create Continuous Cash Flow Now, Without Using Your Cash or Credit. He's also the founder of SmartRealEstateCoach.com and the Smart Real Estate Coach Podcast. Chris has been in real estate for over 25 years. His experience includes the construction of over 100 single-family and duplex homes (mostly in the 1990's and selectively to date), has owned a Realty Executives Franchise (Massachusetts 1994-2000) as broker/owner which maintained high per-agent standards and eventually sold to Coldwell Banker in 2000. The 2000's included coaching ½ million and higher REALTORs® in order to scale & automate their business throughout the US and Canada. He also participated (and still does selectively) in doing condo conversions (multi-family homes to condos) and “raise the roof” projects (converting single-family ranches to colonials in growth neighborhoods). Chris has been a big advocate of constant education and participates regularly in high-end mastermind groups, as well as consults with private mentors. He runs his own buying and selling businesses with his family team, which buys 2-5 properties monthly, so they're in the trenches every single week. They also help clients do the same thing around the country. Chris and his family team have done over 80 million in real estate transactions. They mentor, coach, consult, and actually partner with students around the country (by application only) to do exactly what they do. What you'll learn about in this episode: What Chris means by “stacking”, and how a “complete predictable package” is the key to weathering any storm How a complete package is comprised of skill sets needed to operate in your niche, the mental side of the business, support, and predictability Why ACAA – Action, Critique, Adjust, Action – is a powerful way of getting the results you're looking for Why the six stacks of a complete, predictable package are proven to be repeatable, and why this repeatability is key Chris provides free, must-have resources to help you take control of and master the mental side of your business Chris explains how he can talk about real estate being predictable thanks to the stacking program being so predictable and time-proven Why the three consistent and reliable paydays generated by Chris's methods are a vital ingredient for building wealth rather than working a job Why becoming the authority in your market can help you fight off competition from the terms niche Finish this statement: “to truly, definitively and predictably _______ in the next 12 months, I must _______.” Why you need to work to make the journey fun and not just the destination, and why it's important to identify what new routines you need to develop and habits you need to break Resources: Private 15-minute strategy call with Chris: www.SmartRealEstateCoach.com/action Smart Real Estate Coach YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/smartrealestatecoach 31 Day Billionaire course: http://smartrealestatecoach.com/billionaire/ Dr. Amanda Barrientez: www.SmartRealEstateCoach.com/NFA Thursday Strategy Zoom Call with Chris: support@smartrealestatecoach.com Three Year $1 Million Plan: support@smartrealestatecoach.com Be The Authority course: https://predictiveroi.com/be-the-authority/ Elite Entrepreneurs course: www.SmartRealEstateCoach.com/ignition Website: www.getQLS.com Past Solocasts from Chris: Episode 5: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/chris-solocast/ Episode 12: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/chris-solocast-2/ Episode 20: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/chris-solocast-3/ Episode 42: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/chris-solocast-4/ Episode 55: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/chris-solocast-5/ Episode 87: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-6/ Episode 100: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/episode-100/ Episode 117: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-8/ Episode 123: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-09/ Episode 129: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-10/ Episode 137: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-11/ Episode 144: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-12/ Episode 153: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-13/ Episode 158: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-14/ Episode 165: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-15/ Episode 172: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-16/ Episode 180: https://smartrealestatecoachpodcast.com/podcasts/solocast-17/ Additional resources: SmartRealEstateCoachPodcast.com/webinar SmartRealEstateCoachPodcast.com/termsbook SmartRealEstateCoachPodcast.com/ebook SmartRealEstateCoach.com/QLS Smart Real Estate Coach Podcast Sponsor: Paul G.
