As farmers, entrepreneurs and activists, these modern-day pioneers find their initial optimism is quickly replaced with uncertainty and fear as the new legislation favors deep pocketed corporations. As an African- American businesswoman in a white, male-dominated industry, Sue presses forward despite financial concerns, repeated delays and the frustrations of dealing with the local bureaucracy.Chiah Rodriques grew cannabis plants under blackberry trees and hid from federal helicopters growing up. As an adult and second-generation farmer, she's lived most of her life in the shadows until California legalized cannabis, which offered her the opportunity to become a permitted cultivator. I met Chris earlier of 2016 when I was brought in as part of the media team to film one of his conference events. From one event to another, I began to consistently work with him on various projects from short film trailers to speaking engagements. Chris masterfully utilizes the skillset and idea he has to make an impact on the military community. A driven entrepreneur who aspires to create a lasting impression wherever he is. Whether on stage, at a coffee shop, even in front of the camera. Working with him was a privilege, being able to brainstorm and see the way he perceives the need in the marketplace. His mind is made up of clever ideas that seek to find solutions in fulfilling the hierarchy of needs, similar to the things that tug his heart when he was growing up. The way he carries himself to how he articulates a story simply invites you to be curious and tenacious with him. At a young age, the same curiosity and tenacity were birthed from the hardest times of his life. It lives on as part of Chris' journey of continuing to soar higher towards his dreams. This conversation brings us to the evergrowing and progressive endeavors of Chris that ultimately led him to see what he was meant to do. This episode is a fire side chat. Literally! Marc Wohling discovered surfing, music and martial arts early in life. These three things gave him a pattern for life; but also a structure for loss. Working in remote communities and with underprivileged youth, Marc has been using techniques drawn from surfing, music and martial arts to teach, coach and mentor. And Messr Sans Tattoo joins our chat by the fire. In this episode we discuss Marc's eclectic background and adventures. From West Timor, to the red dust of outback Australian aboriginal communities through to the best guitar rifts and then into the boxing ring. This is another great yarn. Chris has been in the healthcare industry for 36, first as a nurse, and now she’s serving as the CEO of St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout her time in healthcare, her commitment to serving patients, colleagues, her professional organizations, and her community has been evident. She claims that “it’s all about relationships,” and it shows. As a leader, Chris knows that leadership begins with awareness and management of the self. She understands there are many different leadership styles and resists “boxing in” those in leadership positions. Instead she chooses to let individuals grow and blossom into leaders.  In today’s episode, Chris provides a clear distinction between management and leadership. You’ll also hear the touching story that demonstrates why Chris continues in healthcare, even though it’s a demanding field and is only getting tougher. You’ll also hear how she self-cares and nurtures her own growth and development. In today’s episode you’ll learn: About Chris’s career path The difference between management and leadership Why serving in professional organizations is critically important for any who is or wants to be in leadership How executive leaders can best equip the next generation of leaders The importance of mentorship How Chris continues to show and develop, both personally and professionally

In fact, I don't think I've ever had a guest quite like him. You see, Chris helped a client, Walter Fisher, win $1 million in a bet to lower his body fat composition. What part does breath play in weightlifting? What is the difference between glute activation and core bracing? How decreasing body fat composition is different than just losing weight. Why the scale is not the only way to measure your body's health. How creating a false sense of high stakes can actually help you stay motivated with your goals. About Chris' book, The 5x2 Method, and how it'll help you create greater self-awareness and be present each day in your wellness journey. Examples of how to get in touch with your 5 senses every day for greater self-awareness and happiness. How to begin living for the future. How great things can happen when you begin focusing on yourself and being more open to new opportunities.   The 5x2 Method: Revealing the Power of Your Senses Get your own copy of The 5x2 Method: Revealing the Power of Your Senses by Chris DiVecchio Did you know you use at least one of your five senses every moment of the day, even when you are asleep? Each sense has its own special power, but it is when they are used in combination that we create those unforgettable experiences. We all have a set of daily habits that tend to dull our senses and encourage us to lead a pretty basic life of existence. We often find ourselves in the vicious cycle of wake up, repeat and go to sleep. I developed the 5x2 method to help wake those senses back up and create a whole new way of thinking, acting, being, and doing so you can start living the life of happiness you deserve!   As we know, the five senses are controlled by five organs: Touch Sound Taste Sight Smell   About Chris DiVecchio Chris DiVecchio, Founder & Trainer of Premier Mind & Body, brings a wealth of self-development transformation mixed with a very practical technique to his fitness training. Chris eventually ended up living in 28 homes and went to 11 different schools. He began to get in a lot of trouble; he started drugs in the 5th grade, spent most of his time in 6th 7th and 8th grades betting the horses outside of Seattle. He even started opium during the 8th grade. While in high school, Chris came to that pivotal point in life where he realized he was going nowhere fast and needed to make some changes. He realized he was about to graduate to go out into the real world. He decided he wanted to become successful, become financially free, and do something with his life and make an impact, but he just had no clue how or where to start. Listen now as Chris unveils his story of success as he talks about all the people who made a great impact in life. He explains how he got into the speaking world and ended up making television shows and writing books with the greats, like Zig Ziglar, and Jim Rohn. In this Episode you will learn: About Chris' journey, where it all started, what was the path for him along the way that got him to the point of where he is today. Paul talks to guitar legend Chris Masuak (all the way from Spain!) about his long and amazing musical history, overcoming language differences through rock n roll, his loathing for "junkie chic," and much, much more. About Chris (by Barman) Chris “Klondike” Masuak's musical history reads like a muscle car ride through the mean streets of Australia’s rock and roll underground. The Canadian-born prodigy achieved teenage notoriety as guitarist for legendary Radio Birdman and then waged a War Against The Jive with Australia's hardest working rock and roll band, The Hitmen. Next came a stint with the original (and defining) line-up of The New Christs, followed by international prominence with the chart busting Screaming Tribesmen. Klondike has never stood still, exploring his country roots with Chris Boy King and the Kamloops Swing, swinging down Texas blues side roads with The Juke Savages, and getting tubular with The Raouls. In 2007, Chris was inducted, with Radio Birdman, into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame. Klondike came into his own with Klondike's North 40 and an acclaimed debut album “The Straight Path” on I-94 Bar Records. The follow up release, "Workhorse," continued the tradition of unfashionably loud guitar rock and roll with tough tones and terrific tunes. Now based in Galicia in northern Spain, Klondike has been recording, touring, and capturing national attention with his hit single Another Lost Weekend/Animal, on New H Records. His latest project is Chris Masuak & The Viveiro Wave Riders, whose new album "Brujita" has just been released on I-94 Bar Records.

“If you don’t believe in all your heart and soul, that the thing you are offering, is the right thing, then it’s going to be hard for you to ever ask for the sale.” “Don’t fake it ‘til you make it, believe until the world catches up to where you are.” - Chris Brogan About: Chris Brogan- CEO of Owner Media Group Overview: Chris Brogan is a successful and approachable entrepreneur. He has consulted for large firms all over the world, including Disney, Google, Microsoft, etc. Chris provides education and tools to help you make your life and your business thrive, by teaching you how to own the game you most want to win. Throughout this interview, we learn some great tips on how to be a powerful salesman, and how Chris has become successful. Chris Brogan   Highlights: Why Meet with Outliers: We asked Chris why he was so willing to meet with us, and he responds by saying that he is always willing to help others, no matter what stage of work they are in and was excited to help you, Outliers. He states that everyone has started at some point and he was at the starting point at a stage in his life too. Chris wants to connect with others and see how he can help them. Newsletter Strategy: The easiest way that Chris explains it, is he’s always made it a point to talk to people the way he’d want someone to talk to him, and/or even to his mother. Chris is always trying to sell something- it’s business. But what he considers a sale is a transaction of value. 90% of the stuff he does is free, and the other 10% is where he creates his revenue. Sales: “If you don’t believe in all your heart and soul, that the thing you are offering, is the right thing, then it’s going to be hard for you to ever ask for the sale.” If you’re selling something that doesn’t work, then you’re not going to do so well. You have to believe that what you’re selling is truly going to help that person. When you are worried about making rent, or paying the bills, then you are selling with the wrong perspective and those that you are selling to will feel it as well.. Sell from love. It’s easier to sell value than anything else. Mistakes Outliers May Be Making: You cannot share, or sell something that you have not experienced. The secret sauce is that people want to know that you’re just like them. Chris hates the phrase “fake it ‘til you make it.” He says, “Don’t fake it ‘til you make it, believe until the world catches up to where you are.” Sometimes people don’t see it the way you do because they can’t see the vision that you do. Entrepreneurship and a lot of our journey can be tough, sometimes you have money and sometimes you have no money. The trick is to just be really good about where you are. What is Success: Chris believes that success is being able to say no to the things that he wants to say no to. He feels that he’s “made it,” according to the world, but he still has new goals and new heights he wants to reach. The people who fail the most in life are the people who let up on the gas petal once they reach a certain goal. Chris really admires people like Warren Buffet who work until the very end. Richard Branson is also a great example of continuing success. Richard has over 400 companies and still runs at full speed. He works hard and he plays hard. Biggest Challenge: Getting people to understand the story that he’s trying to tell. With all sales and marketing, Chris believes that he has something to offer to those around him and he truly wants to help them. Revenue: Since 2008, his company revenue has always fluctuated. In 2010, he lost $400,000 in investments. His goal for revenue this year is to beat the $1Million mark. Chris shares that when someone is thinking about their revenue goal, they need to think about what it’s going to take to achieve that and if it’s really worth it. Each goal depends on who you are and what works for you. End Game for Chris Brogan: He's not sure what it is, but he hopes that he’ll get that one idea that will allow him to create a company that will live on past him. He eventually wants to build a product he can sell that he won’t be the face of. About Chris’s latest book - The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth: Chris considers himself a “freak.” He defines freak as someone who has almost a tattoo like obsession of doing the kind of business they want to do with the people they want to do it with, and doing it the way they most want to do it. Tony Hawk, Mark Echo, and Kate White are great examples of being “freaks” of their business. A freak is the people who are tired of trying to fit in, and are just trying to find out where they belong. You can definitely have a day job and be a freak. The whole concept doesn’t require that you set off on your own and do your own thing; it’s simply owning what you do. Take Away: Chris has an authentic approach to sales that teaches any of us entrepreneurs to be true believers in what we’re selling. Like his most recent book, Chris shares that we need to become “freaks” in whatever business we are doing and we will be successful.
