Two striking things are revealed to us in our theme verse: the first is the fact that God's people can be destroyed and the second is the reason it's possible for them to be destroyed, which is their lack of knowledge of God's Word. The ignorance of God's Word is such a terrible thing. Jesus said to the Jews, “You err, because you don't know the Scriptures” (Matthew 22:29). This helps us further understand why the Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The solution to every problem, the answer to every question, and everything you'd ever require in life are all in the Word. Don't ignore the Word. To ignore the Word is to set yourself up for failure and unnecessary hardships in life. Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Proverbs 11:9 says, “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” Acts 20:32 says, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” It's about your knowledge of God's Word. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” How much and how well do you know Him? That's what's going to determine how far you go—your prosperity, glory, dominion and victories in life. The things you require or desire for a godly life are already yours in Christ. But the way to make them effectual in your life is a function of your knowledge of Him. The knowledge Peter writes about is full, exact knowledge—“epignosis” (Greek). Spend time every day, studying, listening to, and meditating on the Word of God. Inundate your spirit, soul and mind with the Word. As the Scripture says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16). The result will be a life of ever-increasing grace, ever- increasing relevance, ever-increasing glory, unending success and all-round prosperity. PRAYER Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the knowledge of your Word that dwells in me richly, causing me to walk in faith, dominion, glory and power. Through the revelation knowledge of your Word, I live and function in absolute victory, now and always, in Jesus' Name. Amen. Therefore, if you're going to have more faith, you have to hear more of God's Word. You can't be listening to negative things that produce fear and expect your faith to increase; that'll only build more fear in you. Inundate your spirit with the Word. Some people face certain challenges and are overwhelmed because they're operating at a level of faith that's too low to deal with the situation. Yet, it's possible to have a lot of faith that's weak. Weak faith is the result of the lack of exercise of faith. So, hearing God's Word is one thing, but until you act on the Word you've received, your faith will be weak and you'll stagger when you face adversities. So, grow your faith strong through the exercise of your faith. Strong faith is prevailing faith; it doesn't stagger: “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God” (Romans 4:18-20). A rapacious appetite for the Word of God will of necessity bolster faith in you to tame circumstances, keep Satan where he belongs, and cause you to live triumphantly every day. But you must keep exercising your faith to keep it strong. PRAYER Dear Father, I thank you for the opportunity to hear and receive your Word. My faith is increased even now as a result of your Word that has come to me today. My heart is forever after your Word, and by my faith in your Word, I prevail over situations and circumstances, to the glory and praise of your Name. Amen. But another threat to the internet is just regular old sea level rise. "Uh, yeah, some is already happening." Carol Barford, a biogeochemist at the University of Wisconsin--Madison. "I mean there's a lot of data out there that shows that sea level on the coast is rising."And that, she says, means big problems for internet connectivity in major coastal cities like New York, Miami and Seattle. Barford and her colleagues forecast that danger using a map of global internet networks, and sea level rise data from NOAA. "So there are two maps, where's the internet stuff and where's the flooding. And when they're superimposed, where they coincide, there are problems." Using NOAA's extreme sea level rise estimate, recommended for forecasts involving long-term infrastructure like this, the researchers say that 15 years from now, 4100 miles of fiber optic cable could be underwater. And 1100 internet hubs could be surrounded by water. And remember, our land-based infrastructure isn't waterproof, like transoceanic cables are."Seawater comes in, and cabling is not meant to work underwater. So signals will be interrupted and dropped. The actual infrastructure itself might deteriorate." The researchers presented the peer reviewed findings at the Applied Networking Research Workshop in Montreal this week.
