#205: Organic California field and row crop farmer Scott Park details the success he's found with his low-input, targeted tillage operation for a room full of real organic certified farmers. Primarily a tomato grower for canneries, Scott's does not shy away from sharing his experiences with slippery price negotiations and the headaches around the regenerative movement's lack of enforceable standards. Scott's full talk and excellent slides can be viewed on our YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdGiGqNTf2M Scott Park and his son Brian run Park Farming Organics in Meridien, CA and are known for investing excess time,  money, and effort into thoughtful experiments aimed at growing food in concert with nature. Scott was the main speaker at our Farmer Friday event this past September, which was held one day before at our conference at Churchtown Dairy in Hudson, New York -  Real Organic: A World Movement.https://parkfarmingorganics.com/To watch a video version of this podcast with access to the full transcript and links relevant to our conversation, please visit:https://realorganicproject.org/scott-park-normal-ca-farm-farmed-abnormallyThe Real Organic Podcast is hosted by Dave Chapman and Linley Dixon, engineered by Brandon StCyr, and edited and produced by Jenny Prince. The Real Organic Project is a farmer-led movement working towards certifying 1,000 farms across the United States this year. Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce, and pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs from products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit:https://www.realorganicproject.org/farmsWe believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be, but that the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing the ability for small farms who adhere to the law to stay in business. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but still paying a premium price. And the lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. If you like what you hear and are feeling inspired, we would love for you to join our movement by becoming one of our 1,000  Real Friends:https://www.realorganicproject.org/real-organic-friends/To read our weekly newsletter (which might just be the most forwarded newsletter on the internet!) and get firsthand news about what's happening with organic food, farming and policy, please subscribe here:https://www.realorganicproject.org/email/

Topics covered1. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH):FSH plays a vital role in the development of ovarian follicles and the growth of eggs. It's essential for the follicular phase of your menstrual cycle. For optimal fertility, your FSH levels should be below 10 Mili International Units per milliliter. Those with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) should pay special attention to the ratio of FSH to luteinizing hormone (LH). Regular exercise can positively influence FSH levels.2. Luteinising Hormone (LH):LH, in tandem with FSH, regulates the menstrual cycle and is responsible for triggering ovulation. Around ovulation, ideally, LH levels should range from 6.17 to 17.2 International Units per liter. These levels are crucial for interpreting results from Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs). A healthy lifestyle is key to maintaining proper LH levels.3. Estradiol (Primary Estrogen):Estradiol, the primary form of estrogen, is crucial for developing reproductive tissues, regulating the menstrual cycle, and supporting pregnancy. Its levels fluctuate between 10 to 300 Picograms per Milliliter, depending on your menstrual cycle stage. Early menstrual cycle testing of estradiol is often used to assess ovarian reserve.4. Progesterone:Progesterone prepares and maintains the uterus for a potential pregnancy by thickening the uterine lining and aiding embryo implantation. Its levels vary significantly throughout the menstrual cycle, being lowest during the follicular phase and peaking in the luteal phase. Medications are available to help manage progesterone levels.5. Testosterone:Despite being present in lower levels in women, testosterone is crucial for maintaining libido, bone density, and muscle mass. Abnormally high testosterone levels may indicate ovarian tumors or adrenal gland issues. Normal levels should be around 0.5 to 2.4 Nanomoles per LitreThe balance of these hormones is critical for regulating the menstrual cycle and overall reproductive health. If you have concerns about your hormonal levels or symptoms like unexpected spotting, consult your doctor for proper tests. Something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. — Acts 9:18-19 As we can imagine, Saul's experience of meeting Jesus on the way to Damascus must have been terrifying. He said later that when Jesus appeared to him, he felt as if he were like a child taken from the womb too early (“one abnormally born”). Being stopped by a blinding light, falling to the ground, and learning that he had persecuted the church of God by chasing followers of the crucified Messiah—who was now ruling in heaven— was all too much! Saul, blinded by glory, had to be led by hand along the rest of the way to Damascus. Then, a few days later, the Lord sent Ananias to visit Saul, and he received the Holy Spirit, was healed from blindness, and was baptized. The book of Acts shows that people come to faith in Jesus in many different ways. The Spirit is free and does not follow a formula. Sometimes the Spirit uses words of Scripture to move a person's heart. Sometimes a person hears the good news through someone else. Sometimes the Lord speaks through a dream or a vision. In some cases, as with Saul, the encounter may be dramatic and even terrifying, followed by a vision and the coming of the Spirit a few days later. In other cases, whole households are baptized, including children who will grow in faith throughout their life. But in all of these ways the Spirit is at work! Lord, to some of us you come hovering gently. Others of us need to be knocked to our knees. You know best how to fill us, Lord. Amen.

As you know, when I read a great book with profound information, I have to share it with you guys! Well, the most recent book I have been digging into continues to further my knowledge and reverence for how our body works and heals at an energetic level. In his book, Healing is Voltage, Dr. Jerry Tennant details in how our cells are meant to run at -20 to -25 millivolts (which means our bodies are electron-rich, so to speak) and that when we creep closer to zero and, God forbid, go into the positive territory, that's when our body becomes riddled with disease and cancer. It's as simple as that!So that begs the questions: how do we stay in the -20 to -25 millivolts range? What causes our cells to go above or below that and how to we return to that range? How does this ultimately affect our tissues, organs and body systems? What lifestyle habits pull us out of that range and what lifestyle habits can we adopt to stay in that range effortlessly? What about diet? What about medications? How do you measure it? This is all just the tip of the iceberg, as it relates to the book. But I will keep it simple and just stick to one chapter in the book to give you a taste of this paradigm-shifting information.Dr. Tennant has compiled relatively simple, yet profound information in the 550-page "handbook" that is just lurking in the archives of Amazon —  just sitting there waiting to be read and applied to one's life. Why this information is not more prevalent and, in a perfect world, taught in school? Well, that's the beauty of this podcast. I can at least share it with you all and hopefully that begins a snowball effect to get this information spread to more and more people.    This will be at least a two-part series, as there is too much juicy information to put into one solosode. Those figures have increased since just last week. MPR News meteorologist reports that all models forecast BELOW normal precipitation into early July. Minnesota roller coaster weather patterns of late have had major effects on farmers. Late, heavy snowfall and flooded fields delayed planting in parts of the state. And now that plants are in the ground, it's dry. With the outlook threatening a third year of drought, farms of all sizes could soon be under stress. What does public health mean to you? Public health is the intersection where individual patient decisions meet public policy, where medicine meets law. Bio Output Medical was founded by Dr. Jay K Joshi as an Intern managing complex Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients. Concerned by the limitations of manual urine output measurements and subsequent kidney care management, he set out to develop a technology that would improve the measuring and recording of urine output to help patients with kidney injury or kidney failure. Born out of a need to improve urine output measurements, Output Medical is passionate about kidney management and saving patient lives. Abnormally low urine output (known as oliguria) is a leading indicator of acute kidney injury (AKI) among ICU patients. AKI is a rapid and dangerous loss of kidney function which seriously impacts a patient's quality of care: it increases mortality, cost of care, length of stay, and readmission. AKI occurs in 20% of all ICU admissions each year, meaning approximately two million patients in the U.S. for whom regular and automatic urine output monitoring could improve their health. The average additional cost of a patient with AKI is nearly $16,000, a significant cost to patients and hospitals. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
