Esta película biográfica narra la historia de John Forbes Nash, creador de la teoría de equilibrio de Nash, una teoría que cuenta cómo cada jugador individual no gana nada modificando su estrategia mientras los otros mantengan las suyas. Así, cada jugador está ejecutando el mejor “movimiento” posible teniendo en cuenta los movimientos de los demás jugadores. Para Sara Carbonell, una de las mejores escenas es cuando el protagonista empieza a debatir la idea de Adam Smith que la ambición individual servía al bien común. El protagonista pensaba que la colaboración si servía a este bien común. Su teoría de equilibrio, está enmarcada dentro de la teoría de juegos. Sara Carbonell destaca que esta teoría dice que “las decisiones optimistas que tomas van a depender de las decisiones que tomen los otros”. Esto según ella se aplica

On May 24, 2015, the world was shocked by the news that John and Alicia Nash had died in a car crash in New Jersey. You may not know the name John Forbes Nash. But many of you are likely to remember the film A Beautiful Mind, which won Best Picture at the 74th Academy Awards. In real life, the movie's protagonist, Nash, was an eminent mathematician and economist; in fact in 1994, he was a Nobel Laureate economist. In the film, Nash's story is cleverly portrayed. The movie opens with Nash's university life, his roommate, and lodgings. Everything seems fine and peaceful. After his postgraduate studies, Nash obtains a professorship and falls in love with a beautiful young woman, Alicia. They are soon married. While Nash's academic career is blossoming, the U.S. Defense Department approaches him, and he is given an opportunity to work closely with them on top-secret national security projects. Until this point, undoubtedly, in the eyes of the world, Nash is a born winner with a successful career, romance, and a loving relationship. However, in a dramatic plot twist, it turns out that in Nash's life, everything is pure illusion. He does not have a roommate. No agents are commissioning his work, and there are no secret projects. His wife is the only real thing in his life. Only later does the story divulge that Nash suffers from schizophrenia. All he sees, the activities and scenes going on in his mind, are nothing but hallucinations. The movie is adapted from the book that is the subject of this bookey. While the film inevitably dramatizes the story, embellishing it with additional fictional elements, the book is a matter-of-fact portrayal of Nash's life. The mathematical genius had thirty years of splendor. He rose above his peers like the brightest star in the night sky. However, when he was thirty, schizophrenia struck, and it deprived Nash of all that was wholesome and assured in his life. There followed a harrowing battle. For 30 years Nash fought against the disease and, in the end, miraculously got the upper hand. He recovered, and at this time was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. The book's author, Sylvia Nasar, was a staff writer at Fortune and a columnist at U.S. News & World Report. In 2002 she was a visiting fellow at King's College and Churchill College Cambridge. Abrimos esta sección veraniega recordando al matemático estadounidense John Forbes Nash, un genio capaz de doctorarse en la Universidad de Princeton a los 21 años y de ganar en 1994 el Premio Nobel de Economía… Pues eso, una mente maravillosa, como la denominó Sylvia Nasar en su novela del mismo título… Como ocurre en la novela, este verano os acercaremos a esas mentes maravillosas que están haciendo cosas superchulas y de las que muchas veces no somos conscientes. No es el caso de nuestro primer invitado, porque a sus apenas 18 años tiene un talento maravilloso del que disfrutan más de ocho millones de personas a través de sus vídeos en YouTube. Benché non sia rampollo di famiglia prestigiosa, il giovane John Forbes Nash jr. viene ammesso a Princeton per la specializzazione post lauream in matematica. Del resto i convenevoli sociali non hanno alcun significato per Nash, ed anche alle lezioni non si presenta. John é ossessionato da un solo pensiero: trovare un'idea veramente originale. Per lui questa é l'unica cosa che possa avere un valore. Una sera, mentre é in un bar con alcuni compagni, assiste al loro comportamento nei confronti di una bellissima bionda presente. Osserva gesti e modalità, e all'improvviso sente delinearsi nella mente quell'idea che inseguiva da tempo. La sua conseguente relazione sulla teoria dei giochi, la disciplina matematica che analizza il comportamento ottimale di individui, o coalizioni, in situazioni di interazione strategica, contraddice apertamente con le teorie di Adam Smith, il padre dell'economia moderna. Il pensiero di Smith dopo 150 anni appare improvvisamente superato. In seguito a questa scoperta, Nash riceve un posto di professore alla MIT, ma soddisfazione ancora maggiore ricava quando un certo William Parcher, agente segreto, lo contatta per un incarico rischioso: siamo in piena guerra fredda, e a Nash viene chiesto di decodificare i codici segreti del nemico. Intanto alla MIT Alicia, studentessa di fisica, riesce ad aprirgli anche la strada del cuore e dei sentimenti. I due si sposano in breve, ma Nash non dice alla moglie alcunché dei suoi lavori segreti. La vita di Nash viene a questo punto sconvolta da una terribile scoperta...Il film prende spunto da una storia vera. John e Alicia Nash vivono ancora oggi a Princeton, e lui va regolarmente ogni giorno nel suo studio al Dipartimento di Matematica. Personaggi autentici e storia sostanzialmente vera, dunque, solo opportunamente ritoccata ad uso di un racconto da grande schermo. La vita di Nash diventa la testimonianza della perenne attualità di valori che non hanno data né età. Credere in se stessi, mettere l'intelligenza al servizio e alla difesa della propria Nazione, non cedere all'incalzare della malattia, riconoscere l'importanza della famiglia per uscire da situazioni difficilissime. E' una storia che respira ottimismo e infonde fiducia. Il finale poi confonde e spiazza fino alla commozione. 136 minuti di un racconto robusto, che non annoia, e si fa seguire grazie alla inattesa, aderente interpretazione di Russel Crowe.Il film ha vinto 4 Premi Oscar nel 2002: miglior film, miglior regista, miglior attrice non protagonista (Jennifer Connelly), miglior sceneggiatura non originale. Nello stesso anno era uscito "La compagnia dell'anello" primo episodio del celeberrimo capolavoro di Tolkien. Solo la manifesta cattolicità dello scrittore inglese ha permesso al, pur bello, "A beautiful mind" di conquistare le più ambite statuette come miglior film dell'anno e migliore regia lasciando al Signore degli Anelli 4 Premi Oscar minori (miglior fotografia, miglior trucco, miglior colonna sonora originale, migliori effetti speciali).

Si tengo 123, más 42 de Podemos, me llevo 15 de Esquerra... Uy, espera, «no es no». Vuelve a empezar. 57 tiene Rivera. Así ya sale... Pero teniendo en cuenta el cántico unánime ayer en Ferraz, «¡con Rivera, no!», borra, borra... La cabeza de Pedro Sánchez en las últimas horas es como la de Russell Crowe en Una Mente Maravillosa interpretando al Nobel de matemáticas John Forbes Nash. Y parece que va a tirar la calculadora a la basura. Ábalos o Batet son hoy dirigentes socialistas que apuestan por gobernar en solitario. De tener la cabeza como un bombo por lo que dice el Ibex por un lado e Iglesias por el otro, a ser la bomba. Probar una investidura con la abstención de Esquerra y no hacer más cesiones a los nacionalistas es una opción. A menos de un mes para las municipales, autonómicas y europeas, Sánchez parece dispuesto a disfrutar de la cresta de la ola. Mientras, ve a Pablo «Capasado» hundido. Y a un Vox que no cosechó tanto como se anunció antes de la vendimia. Sánchez quizás piense también en Alberto Núñez Feijoo. El presidente de la Xunta no pudo hacerlo mejor cuando decidió quedarse en Galicia y no optar a presidir el PP. Ahora está en mejor posición incluso que antes. Aunque nunca tan rojo fue el mapa gallego e históricos del partido como Pilar Rojo o Juan Juncal se quedan sin asiento. Y el Bloque sin escaño cuando hasta el PRC de Revilla saca uno. El regionalismo cántabro se va a Madrid y nuestro nacionalismo no llega. Pero dobla votos y ve cómo En Marea y Podemos se escarallan aquí. Nunca llueve a gusto de todos.
