She went to work for a major brokerage firm at the age of 25.  Along the way she earned AAMS (Accredited Asset Management Specialist) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations and also holds series 7, 63 and 66 Securities Licenses.  Working in a small town, Michelle did everything from making sure little old ladies didn’t run out of money, designed retirement plans, set up college savings accounts and everything in between.  Her favorite thing to do is to take a giant pile of financial statements and data and turn it into a comprehensible and workable plan for her clients.    Michelle learned how to manage investments from her company, but managing day to day finances was harder, because of her ADHD. After 23 years working as an advisor, Michelle was able to retire at 48. Of the two programs, AgriStability can be considered the more complicated of the two programs. So, what does that mean? Join Tracy and Justin as they dive into an episode dedicated 100% to demystifying this often-misunderstood program. Join Tracy and Dave in this three-part interview as they take a look at the current farming economy and discuss why now, more than ever, farmers need to be marketing their grain as the key strategy to unlocking higher profits on their farming operation. They discuss the obstacles that farmers often face when it comes to marketing their grain, and why these common behaviors tend to cause farmers to freeze up and miss securing higher prices for their grain. Dave gives actionable advice on how farmers can overcome the fears that are associated with grain marketing. It is these same fears that hold farmers back and cause missed revenue opportunities. They round the interview off with a lively discussion about the power of an advisor, and how even the best at their craft use a coach to train, mentor and improve their performance. Dave asks a million-dollar question to get farmers thinking: “What if Tiger Woods didn’t have a coach?” Where would he be? Are you interested in unlocking higher profits on your farm? If so, you won’t want to miss this lively discussion between Tracy and Dave. Part #3 – The Power of an Advisor Learning the basics of grain marketing takes time and energy. Tracy asks, are they proactively selling or just picking up the phone the day they need to sell grain in order to free up bin space or to generate revenue to pay upcoming bills? His answer may or may not surprise you. With increasingly narrowing margins, learning how to market your grain should no longer be an optional activity on your farm. Have you ever wanted a fast and reliable way to make changes in your life? In our newest episode of Results May Vary, we orient ourselves with Ela Ben Ur and her Innovators' Compass, a simple tool that allows you to take swift action on any opportunity or challenge you're facing.  As Ela describes it: "The Compass orients us to the powerful directions we stretch in different practices of “innovation” and intuition—from personal learning and reflection practices to organizational processes like design thinking and agile development.   It works over months or in just seconds—on a whiteboard, digital document, scrap of paper, in conversation or in our mind, alone or with others. It’s in use from schools to businesses. As a compass, it helps us see ways we can explore in different settings; it doesn't give us a map or route—we create our own maps of our challenges as we go." How can you use Ela's experience and Innovators' Compass as inspiration to design your own life and increase your creative confidence? Listen to RMV 12 to find out! Show Links i2i Experience is Ela Ben Ur's independent business where she consults, coaches and teaches in design research, strategy, and innovation. With 15+ years of creative problem-solving experience, Ela is passionate about the capacity of human-centered design and design thinking to empower people and organizations. Innovators' Compass is where you'll find more information, resources and examples of this simple, reliable tool in action. Harvard Ed's Project Zero was founded by the philosopher Nelson Goodman in 1967 to study and improve education in the arts. Goodman believed that arts learning should be studied as a serious cognitive activity, but that "zero" had yet been firmly established about the field. John Maeda's definition of Design Thinking: "It's the capacity to think that a better idea could exists, and possessing the tools to imagine what that is. Instead of focusing on fixing existing problems, conceive an ideal endpoint and work creatively to get there." Field Guide: The Design Thinking Experience Gould Academy is hosting a 3-day workshop for anyone who wants to be a better and more efficient innovator. Join Tracy and an all-star team of design thinking practitioners in Bethel, Maine June 21st-24th.
