Warning!! This novel may lead you to make rash and life-changing decisions!* *Probably don't read if you fear you may be ripe for liberation. Or if you sometimes wee when you laugh... First there was Having It All, then there was Bridget Jones' s Diary and I Don't Know How She Does It. Now there is Teenage Punchbag. I'm Just A Teenage Punchbag is a laugh-out-loud, sob-on-the bus journey through the so-called life of a middle-aged woman. Ciara is mother to three ungrateful, entitled teenagers, is married to steady Martin, a man with hairy udders, and is grieving for her mum who now lives in the wardrobe in a cardboard box from the crematorium. She finds solace in her anonymous blog, and in the daily chats she has with her mum's ashes (often the best conversations she has all day.) Despite the menopause, the invisibility of middle age and the daily self-esteem bashings, courtesy of her kids, Ciara manages to navigate the stormy waters of grief and family life - until her mask slips and she is cast out from the family bosom. She embarks on a mission to fulfil her mum's dying wishes to have her remains sprinkled from the top of the Empire State Building, finding company, distraction and - ultimately - herself in the process. If motherhood is a job - who says you can't resign?

Kate Reddy is facing her 50th birthday with 2 teenagers, aging parents and a husband in a mid-life crisis. Oh and no one wants to hire her & peri-menopause is on! This story is hilarious, deliciously sardonic and spot-on. A worthy sequel to her 1st book “I Don't Know How She Does It”. And it's been optioned for TV!

tv allison pearson know how she does it
Life's Lessons- Unleashing Your Full Potential by exchanging wisdom and changing human behavior netting highest output.

Kate Reddy had it all: a nice home, two adorable kids, a good husband. Then her kids became teenagers (read: monsters). Richard, her husband, quit his job, taking up bicycling and therapeutic counseling: drinking green potions, dressing head to toe in Lycra, and spending his time?and their money?on his own therapy. Since Richard no longer sees a regular income as part of the path to enlightenment, it’s left to Kate to go back to work.  Companies aren’t necessarily keen on hiring 49-year-old mothers, so Kate does what she must: knocks a few years off her age, hires a trainer, joins a Women Returners group, and prepares a new resume that has a shot at a literary prize for experimental fiction.  When Kate manages to secure a job at the very hedge fund she founded, she finds herself in an impossible juggling act: proving herself (again) at work, dealing with teen drama, and trying to look after increasingly frail parents as the clock keeps ticking toward her 50th birthday.  Surely it will all work out in the end. After all, how hard can it be?  Hilarious and poignant, How Hard Can It Be? brings us the new adventures of Kate Reddy, the beleaguered heroine of Allison Pearson's groundbreaking New York Times bestseller I Don't Know How She Does I Allison Pearson’s first book, I Don’t’ Know How She Does It was a smash hit when it appeared in 2002. The story of a hedge fund manager who could juggle nine currencies in five time zones but wakes up at 1:37 am in a panic over the need to produce a homemade pie for her daughter’s school, Oprah called it “the national anthem for working mothers.”

With 24 gold medals to her name and a bunch of broken world records, Libby Trickett is adored by Australia. But when she hung up the goggles in 2009, it wasn't the last we saw of the swimmer. She hit the pool again, then retired a second time, and instead of slowing down, she sped up. She gave birth to a baby girl, Poppy, but things got tough. Libby shares how she lost her identity as a new mother, struggled with her career ending and how she eventually discovered that the only way to make it through, was just to get back in that water. This is no ordinary I Don’t Know How She Does It. It’s a beautiful reminder that the people who look like they have it all together, are often just as lost as the rest of us. For the first time ever in the history of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, film critics Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider talk about movies they like, don’t like and simply shrug at. First up is “Drive” starring Ryan Gosling. It falls under the “like” category (a lot). Next up is “I Don’t Know How She Does It” starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Can you guess what category this flick falls under? We answer the QOTW which was, “What actor or actress who normally plays a certain type of character could break out and play against type?” Of course there’s pimping, plus PROPAGANDA EXTRAVAGANZA (see details below). Both Jeff and Eric saw the original “Straw Dogs” and Eric saw the remake. Interquel is played with “Bull Durham” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” PROPAGANDA EXTRAVAGANZA: If you like Movie B.S. then tell people about it. The most creative propaganda piece will win the biggest Movie B.S. prize to date! One winner will get the following Blu-rays: “TRON: Legacy,” “MacGruber,” “Limitliess” and “Louie: Season 1.” Check out our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/moviebspdx for past examples. Fans have made and posted fliers, created decks of cards, and even killed a man in our name! Deadline to enter is October 19.
