“Tune Your Frequency to Truth,” is the motto of Angel Lyn, MSW, and Soul Mentor. Angel is a public speaker, life coach, author of Soul-U-lar Evolution: a Mormon Woman's Transcendent Journey to Love and co-founder of southern Utah's annual healing festival, “Yin on Fire.”  She was born and raised in St. George, Utah, U.S.A. She studied social work at BYU-Hawaii and later earned a Master of Social Work degree from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. She loves learning and mentoring and is a homeschooling mother of five outgoing and hilarious sons. She acquired three exceptional bonus daughters through a blended family relationship just 6 years ago. All 8 children are now between the ages of 12-21.  What began as a very sheltered life in an ethnically and religiously homogenous community, began to shift with her opportunities and passion for travel and living outside of Utah, in places like New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, and Spain.  Angel returned home to Utah in 2014 just in time to experience an existential crisis that became a great, spiritual awakening. It brought her home to trust herself and taught her to live from love, rather than fear. Angel began going “inward & upward,” for guidance and trusting that her soul is led by the Divine Source of Truth. She believes everyone can have this same spiritual connection and unlock spiritual gifts and abilities that facilitate healing and personal guidance and direction in life. A Utah native, Bauer studied international cultural studies and peacebuilding at BYU-Hawaii, an experience that shaped her marketing and storytelling approach. In 2014, she and her husband co-founded Thread Wallets. She recounts how the idea for her company emerged from her husband's need for a minimalist wallet and their realization that there was a market gap for expressive, functional designs. The conversation highlights the brand's growth, its mission to inspire adventure and self-expression, and recent marketing efforts, including creating custom products for high-profile figures.  Bauer attributes Thread Wallets' rapid success to trusted mentors, a tight-knit business community, and Utah's entrepreneurial environment. She expresses her passion for supporting women in the workplace, highlighting Thread Wallets' commitment to a family-friendly, flexible work environment and equitable parental leave for both men and women. Bauer stresses the importance of maintaining simplicity in entrepreneurship, seeking mentorship, and taking incremental steps toward success.

Alfred Grace is the President of the Polynesian Cultural Center on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Alfred grew up in New Zealand and then moved to Hawaii for an engineering apprenticeship and later attended BYU Hawaii. He had hoped to become a tour operator for New Zealand, but ended up working for the PCC, where he then became president. The PCC is one of Hawaii's top destinations, having served more than 40 million visitors since opening in 1963. In this episode we discuss the following: When Alfred became president of the PCC, the goal was to attract as many customers as possible. But COVID gave them a chance to reassess their strategy, and they realized that maximizing attendance put too much stress on the infrastructure and the employees, which in turn reduced the satisfaction of the guests. By capping attendance, they were able to increase guest satisfaction, increase employee satisfaction, and also charge a premium. And lastly, I love Alfred's advice to the employees when they ask him for advice: Keep trying to excel at whatever you do. Love what you do. Enjoy what you do, and don't worry so much. Because if you are consistent, and do the things you do very well, life is going to take care of you.   Connect on Social Media: X: https://twitter.com/nate_meikle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/natemeikle/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nate_meikle/

They gain status by attacking people playing wealth creation games.    You're not going to get rich renting out your time. You must own equity—a piece of a business—to gain your financial freedom. - Naval Ravikant Important quotes from the podcast by Naval on Leverage:   “Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand, and I will move the earth.”  —Archimedes    To get rich, you need leverage. Leverage comes in labor, comes in capital, or it can come through code or media. But most of these, like labor and capital, people have to give to you. For labor, somebody has to follow you. For capital, somebody has to give you money, assets to manage, or machines. - Naval Ravikant   Capital and labor are permissioned leverage. Everyone is chasing capital, but someone has to give it to you. Everyone is trying to lead, but someone has to follow you. - Naval Ravikant   Code and media are permissionless leverage. They're the leverage behind the newly rich. You can create software and media that works for you while you sleep. - Naval Ravikant   If you can't code, write books and blogs, record videos and podcasts. - Naval Ravikant   Leverage is a force multiplier for your judgment. - Naval Ravikant   Apply specific knowledge, with leverage, and eventually you will get what you deserve. - Naval Ravikant   Important Quotes from the podcast on Business and Entrepreneurship   There is no skill called “business.” Avoid business magazines and business classes. - Naval Ravikant   You have to work up to the point where you can own equity in a business. You could own equity as a small shareholder where you bought stock. You could also own it as an owner where you started the company. Ownership is really important.     Everybody who really makes money at some point owns a piece of a product, a business, or some IP. That can be through stock options if you work at a tech company. That's a fine way to start.

In 1921, President David O. McKay of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Church members in an old chapel in Laie, Hawaii — where he witnessed many cultures worshipping together as one. There on the north shore of Oahu, President McKay saw how people can be united by the gospel of Jesus Christ. In a campus devotional at BYU–Hawaii almost one year ago, BYU–Hawaii President John S.K. Kauwe III spoke of President McKay's experience and of BYU–Hawaii today. The Church's university in Laie continues to resemble that diverse group President McKay encountered more than a century ago, said President Kauwe. He joins this episode of the Church News podcast — taped on the BYU–Hawaii campus — to talk about the vision and future of BYU–Hawaii and of his service as the university's president. This episode is the first of a two-part series.  The Church News Podcast is a weekly podcast that invites listeners to make a journey of connection with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the globe. Host Sarah Jane Weaver, reporter and executive editor for The Church News for a quarter-century, shares a unique view of the stories, events, and most important people who form this international faith. With each episode, listeners are asked to embark on a journey to learn from one another and ponder, “What do I know now?” because of the experience. Produced by KellieAnn Halvorsen. 206. Tragedy in the Holy Land: What Can We Do? — A Conversation with Chad Ford

Ever since October 7th, we've been wanting to better understand the conflict in Israel and Gaza and how we as Latter-day Saints can be good neighbors and friends to everyone impacted by it. We know there are no easy answers. Our guest this week, BYU Hawaii professor Chad Ford, has been working on peacemaking initiatives in the region for several decades and acknowledges the very real fear people involved in this conflict feel: that peace isn't going to happen in their lifetime. In the conversation, Chad walks us through a brief history of the conflict in the Middle East and why, at this moment, there is so much suffering and resistance to peace. We talk, as well, about the difficulty of resolving conflict in our personal lives, and how tempting it is to want to justify ourselves and be “right”, at the expense of fostering love in our relationships. We were also really aware of how easy it can be to sit in a position of relative comfort and ease and make pronouncements about what people directly involved should do or think. We tried really hard not to do that and focus more on what we can do to be engaged peacebuilders where we are. As is often the case with difficult conversations, we're asking for some extra grace because we certainly didn't handle any of this perfectly. As challenging as this conversation was, we also found much of it invigorating. Chad has spent years thinking through passages of scripture that seem to justify war and how Christ's overarching message counteracts them, reminding us that it is more important to be “right” before our brethren than it is to hold the “right” position. He reminds us, as well, that as Latter-day Saints we have one of the most compelling examples of peacemaking in our scriptural canon, in the story of the Anti-Nephi Lehites who set down their weapons of war out of commitment to God. Chad shares unforgettable stories about peacemakers in Israel and Gaza who have used their faith, creativity, and commitment to loving their neighbor to find ways for Israelis and Palestinians to connect and form awareness of their common humanity. Most of these people, he says, are not giving up, even with the situation as dire as it is. If you want to hear more from Chad, we encourage you to check out Chad's book, Dangerous Love: Transforming Fear and Conflict at Home, at Work, and in the World. We should mention that Chad is one of the most fascinating people we've ever interviewed; he seems to have lived many lives in one. He not only holds a degree and has decades of experience in conflict resolution, but he has a law degree and had a whole other career as a writer and analyst at ESPN—you'll hear in the episode how that side of him has tied into his peacebuilding work. Later this year, Chad is relocating from Hawaii to Utah to join the faculty in religious studies with the Haravi Peace Center at Utah State University.

Brian Pitcher has been in the Real Estate Industry since 2004. Since then, he has sold over 1000 homes in his career as an agent. Flipped over 200 homes as an investor and has accumulated over 120 rental units in Utah and Idaho. Last year he also acquired 3 storage unit complexes with his partners in Montgomery, Alabama, which are roughly 750 units. They also started a new Storage Unit Management Company called OSM Storage Management. We manage our own facilities and for others. We are under contract to buy our 4th facility in July.Brian made a name for himself in the Great Recession by shifting to where the market was going and became one of the top Short Sale Specialists in the country and was a prominent member of the Short Sale Specialist Network. He was also one of the top Short Sale Agents in Keller Williams and was on several speaking/teaching panels during that time, as well as receiving many awards for production. Once he saw that the market was turning around in 2011, he shifted again but this time it was to remodel and flip distressed homes. He was able to ramp up so fast that he was invited to participate in Collective Genius, which is a mastermind of the top real estate investors in the country. He was in that group for 4 years. As the market got saturated with everyone thinking that they were real estate investors, it was time to shift again. This time it wasn't about making a ton of money doing something transactional, it was about creating stability and freedom. It was time to start acquiring doors for cashflow and stability. Brian has a gift for looking at where the market is going and shifting very fast to acquire the knowledge to succeed at a high level in the new market. One event that significantly changed Brian's perspective on life, is that in 2013 he was diagnosed with acromegaly, which is a brain tumor on the pituitary gland. After 2 brain surgeries to remove the tumor, and a jaw surgery to fix the effects of the tumor, he ended up in the ICU at the hospital 3 times. The tumor is now gone and unlikely to come back and he is now on hormone replacement therapy as the pituitary is now nonfunctioning. He is now healthier than most people because he is monitored every 6 months. Through that life changing event Brian made the goal to always live like he only had 1 year left to live, but plan like he will never die. Before his real estate career Brian graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in North Idaho. He then went to North Idaho College for a year and a half followed by a 2-year Mission for the Mormon Church to Santa Maria, Brazil Mission. He then returned and studied for a year at BYU-Idaho, a year at BYU-Hawaii, then 3 years at the University of Utah ending with a Degree in Spanish. During those years Brian was on Scholarship at all those schools for cheerleading. After College Brian spent 2 years cheering professionally for the Utah Jazz until a shoulder injury in 2005 forced retirement.During the winter months Brian is an avid Snowboarder and for a short time was sponsored by Project 57 Snowboards to represent them at several snowboarding competitions until they went out of business. When the powder isn't fresh at the resort, you will find him in the back country snowmobiling. Brian has a wife and 2 girls that occupy all his spare time. The girls are ages 13 and 15 and love to play sports. They live in Draper, UT and during the winter find themselves on the slopes and in the summer out on the boat or checking out the National Parks or traveling to exotic locations around the world.
