Today, Dr. Ken and Cynthia talk about how AI is shaping the world our teens are growing up in. From homework help to “AI friends” and therapy bots, this technology is moving fast — and our kids are encountering it whether we feel ready or not.Instead of panic or hard bans, Dr. Ken encourages thoughtful, ongoing conversations. We discuss how AI is affecting schools, what healthy use can look like, and why it's important to help teens think critically rather than rely on technology to think or feel for them.We also address the emotional side: AI that feels encouraging or “understanding” can be appealing, especially for kids who feel alone or unsure socially. But simulated support is not real relationship. Parents can help teens stay grounded, connected, and aware of the difference between feeling understood and being truly known by real people. If you have a minute, please leave us a review. Today we're talking marriage with Dr. Ken Wilgus — not our marriages (although we detoured there), but our kids' future ones. Dr. Ken discusses research that says we shouldn't panic if our kids consider getting married younger than the cultural norm. Marriage isn't just a “capstone” once you're fully established — sometimes it's a cornerstone that builds adulthood together. We unpack cultural trends, fear-based parenting, and why avoiding the dating conversation doesn't actually protect your teens. Dr. Ken challenges us to talk openly about marriage, consider how our own marriage baggage might influence our advice, and stop assuming later is always better. We wrap with dating checklists, the pressure Christian young adults feel to find the “perfect godly spouse,” and one final gold-nugget from Dr. Ken that you cannot miss (hint: it has to do with our own marriages). If you have a minute, please leave us a review. In Week 1 of the Messy series, Pastor Curt Taylor kicked off with a message of hope centered on the story of Bartimaeus from Mark 10:46-52. Life is undeniably messy because our world is broken, and we are spiritually dead in our sins, completely unable to save ourselves. But God, rich in mercy and overflowing with love, steps into our mess through Jesus Christ to bring life, healing, and transformation. Pastor Curt reminded us that the gospel isn't advice about what we should do but good news about what God has already done — and His grace has the power to make us alive and whole, no matter how messy our lives may be.

*I talk a tiny bit about grief in this episode, nothing deep. But head's up in case you're not in a place to hear any mention of this. You're imperfect. Life is messy. Show up anyway. In this episode I share 12 ideas or quotes that will help you practice hope-in-action or imperfect action and show up fully to life - even though it's messy and imperfect.Takeaways: Embracing our imperfections allows us to fully participate in the messiness of life, which is essential for personal growth and connection. Life inevitably presents us with challenges that often feel overwhelming, yet we must confront these imperfections and continue to show up with intention and courage. The journey of life is characterized by continual action and adaptation, rather than waiting for a perfect path to be revealed before making a move. Recognizing that our small contributions can effect change in our immediate environment empowers us to act despite feelings of inadequacy or overwhelm. It's easy for us to drown in the messy problems we're facing each day, but if we stop and remember where God has shown up for us before, we may discover that laughter and even joy are hiding in the mud. Today, Paige welcomes Cynthia Yanof. Cynthia is a wife, mother, podcast host of the show MESSmerized, blogger, and author of Life is Messy God is Good - the topic of today's episode. Cynthia looks at life and all its hardships with the deep understanding that God is sovereign AND He is good - and that if we take the time to look back at all the ways He has come through for us before (especially in ways we didn't expect), we can move through life's difficulties with a little less heaviness on our shoulders and a little more laughter in our hearts. Paige's TakeawaysValue the quality of your friendships, not the quantity. Cherish the ones who point you back to Jesus.Stones of Remembrance: Remember where God has been in your life! Write down what God is doing in this moment and season, so you can stand against the seasons of despair where the enemy will want to come in and lie to you!Give “Easy Yeses” wherever you can! Let your kids have some (safe) autonomy. Allow them easy yeses so that they can learn, grow, and gain confidence. Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast? PSALM 40:1-5 1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is the man who the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.  DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1 What do you think about the messiness of the Isaac - Rebekah, Jacob - Esau, Jacob - Laban, Rachel - Leah saga? Why does God continually seem to find people's lives to highlight which would make for a good Jerry Springer episode? Thinking about some of the messes in your life, how can you relate to the hope found in Psalm 40:1-5? 2 Review all of the deception found in Genesis 25-31. Among all this deception, who, if anyone, do you think felt a sense of belonging? Where have you found a place to belong? How can you relate to being viewed as "not Esau" or "not Rachel"? 3 "God can't bless who you pretend to be." What do you think about that statement? How have you learned the truth of that statement? 4 "Life is full of let-downs." What are the let-downs you've experienced which have hit you pretty hard? Describe one of your - "When morning came - there was Leah" type moments. 5 "Regardless of how big of a mess we make, God's good and gracious will shall be accomplished." How have you seen this to be true? When have you been amazed at what God does with the glorious mess you made? 6 Describe the encouragement you receive from what emerges when you overlay the hope in Psalm 40:1-5 on top of the three statements above.

In this episode, Cindy Esliger explores the messiness of life and how what appears to be a series of obstacles is an integral part of our career journey. Navigating life's messiness isn't just about bouncing back but about embracing the new opportunities the experience may offer. It's our reaction to the chaos that matters and Cindy is here to guide us on how to embrace the unexpected.Rolling with life's punches and working through life's chaos can feel like a disheartening setback. But resilience is connected to confidence, so when we endure, our confidence grows when we realize we can survive whatever happens. Confidence is vital for career survival and Cindy has three strategies for maintaining confidence in the workplace: 1. Know our stuff, 2. Celebrate the wins, and 3. Speak up in meetings. Confidence and resilience are interconnected and we'll need both to succeed.  It can still be difficult to embrace life's messiness, however, and Cindy understands the struggle. Telling ourselves to enjoy the ride even if the journey is chaotic is one thing, but actually doing that is another. So Cindy offers three strategies for embracing the possibilities within the mess: 1. Look for opportunities in the unexpected, 2. Make flexibility our new best friend, and 3. Embrace the learning even when it's tough. Cindy unpacks her strategies and lays out a solid plan for surviving and thriving through life's messes, guidance useful no matter what stage of career we're in.  Resources discussed in this episode:Guide to Embracing the MessinessAstronomic AudioConfidence Collective—Contact Cindy Esliger Career Confidence Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | linkedin | email

I hope you're taking some time this week to slow down and spend a few minutes pondering Holy Week and all that it means to your faith. My prayer is that we don't come out on the other side of Easter the same way we went into it. I pray that the very reminder of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice on the cross sparks a new hope in our lives, causing us to want more God in our lives than we currently have.    Every year on Good Friday, my husband pulls out the ol' “It's Friday . . . but Sunday's Coming” message at some point when we're all in the car together. He gets mocked for this predictable move every year, but gosh it's a message we need to hear on repeat. Take a minute to listen this week and even follow Mike's lead and throw it on the car radio for the fam.    On today's show we have Lisa Whittle talking with us about revival, and how to experience it both on a corporate and personal level. Lisa is passionate about the importance of desiring and wanting more God in our lives—which leads to a personal revival that can literally change everything about how we live.    I especially appreciate her list of things that keep us from revival, or wanting more God. Things like our need for comfort, control, and even popularity. This is a perfect word for us going into Easter, and I pray it challenges you in the coming days.

Ever found yourself knee-deep in the chaos of everyday life, juggling parenting, work, and what seems like a million little mess-ups? You're not alone! Join me and the hilariously insightful Cynthia Yanof, author of "Life is Messy, God is Good: Sanity for the Chaos of Everyday Life," as we navigate the joyous battlefield of life with a healthy dose of humor. Get ready to laugh at our blunders, nod in agreement with our parenting foibles, and get a fresh perspective on how embracing the mess can draw us closer to an authentic Christian experience. This episode isn't just about chuckles though; it's also an invitation to ponder the footprints we leave in the lives of others. Through personal reflections and the heartfelt story of a friend's anointing, we unpack how small acts of intentionality can ripple into waves of influence. Discover how answering that 'God-sized' call, like opening your heart to foster care, can reshape not just your world, but the world of those around you. It's a powerful reminder that our influence isn't measured by our audience's size but by the depth of our impact. And let's get real about the high-wire act of parenting, shall we? We strip away the glossy filters of social media success and have a heart-to-heart on recognizing the divine beauty in our children's quirks and challenges. This conversation goes beyond the surface, as we embrace vulnerability and build a stronger community within our churches and personal lives. There's strength in showing up as we are – imperfect, but together. So tune in, grab a coffee, and join us for a conversation that promises to uplift, inspire, and perhaps even laugh.Book: Life Is Messy, God Is GoodBible: NIV Life Application5-Year JournalFavorite App/Website: Dwell AppAlabaster Beautiful individual Books of the Bible Support the showCheck out our website for more ways to fully connect to God's Word. The day has finally come where I get to share something unbelievably exciting that's going on in my life. And true to form, I come to you somewhere between wildly excited to share the news while also completely nerved-out because it's vulnerable and so deeply special to me. But here we go!    Drum roll please . . . . You guys, I wrote a book!    It's called Life is Messy, God is Good and it's the biggest labor of love I've had the privilege of being a part of in my life. I say labor of love, because I've seen God's incredible kindness in allowing me to write a book that a publisher actually wants to disseminate to the world at large!   But it's also been a labor of love over here as I have spent over a year praying over this book, writing, deleting, writing more, deleting more, and asking God to speak truth through my words in ways I will likely never fully understand or appreciate. And now that the time has finally come where I can talk about the book, I wanted YOU to be the first people to hear about it.    So on today's show I'm talking a little bit about the book, but also about my heart behind the book and how my life has been impacted by people who have allowed God to use the messiest places of their lives for His bigger purpose. Something he's longing to do in all of our lives.    So can I ask YOU for a favor (or two or three)? If you love MESSmerized or love me or even tolerate me but continue to show up each week . . . will you please pre-order Life is Messy, God is Good? It comes out February 6th and pre-orders are a HUGE deal in order for retailers to carry it.  Will you spread the word? It's as easy as sharing this email and/or my social media posts (make sure you're following me please) with your friends and family.  Lastly, will you pray? Join me in praying very simply that God will do “immeasurably more”  than we can ask or imagine in paving a way for this message. (Esphesians 3:20)   I'm so grateful for each of you and can't wait for today's show.    All things Cynthia Pre-Order Life is Messy, God is Good

We are beginning a new sermon series entitled Shipwrecked, a series all about making sure our faith doesn't get “shipwrecked.” The term is used by the Apostle Paul in his first letter to Timothy, his protege, a young man whom he mentored to become a church leader, and Paul was commanding Timothy to conduct himself well and not become shipwrecked, as some have done. What applied then very much applies to believers in current times who are not vigilant in standing firm and have seen their lives and their faith become a complete shipwreck. Most people would agree that life is messy. No one lives a life of such ease that day after day things all fall neatly into place, and problems all work themselves out without difficulty. Although certainly not comprehensive, this series addresses many of the challenges that are constantly bombarded with and provides practical biblical wisdom to guide us. We hope God will speak to you through His Word, and make you better equipped to stand firm in your faith.   Scriptures Today: 1 Timothy 1;18-19, 6:10 // Luke 19:1-10 // Phillipaians 4:11-13 // Matthew 19:23-24 // 2 Corinthians 5:21 We're so glad you joined us for this powerful message!
