For the twelfth time, we gather around the campfire for one of RBI's favorite traditions: Stock Stories. Five Fools. Five investing lessons. This summer's tales share a surprising common thread: A biotech shell company that refused to die. An old gift of IBM stock quietly compounding for decades. A Fool who finally bought Alphabet nearly twenty years after he first meant to. A company called Life360 proving that “obvious” doesn't mean “fully valued.” And a producer awakening to stock-market investing in his 50s.The lesson? You may think you missed it. You probably didn't.Pull up a chair, grab a marshmallow, and join us around the campfire. The local market fell for a third straight day, sliding 0.3% to reach a one-month low. Sentiment soured after President Trump dismissed Iran’s latest peace proposal as "garbage," warning that the ceasefire is on "life support". While the ASX remained cautious ahead of tonight’s Federal Budget, the index has shed 2.5% over the past three sessions. BHP hit a record high of $60 per share, overtaking CBA as Australia's largest company. Conversely, DroneShield cratered 10% following an ASIC investigation into executive share sales, and Life360 tumbled 11% after user growth failed to meet expectations. Tracking apps promise peace of mind — but the neuroscience tells a different story. About half of U.S. parents now use location-tracking apps like Life360, Find My, and Google Family Link to monitor their kids. A 2024 study found that frequent checking correlates with lower self-esteem in teens and higher parental hostility into the college years. The safety you're buying may be costing you more than you know. In this episode, neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf breaks down the hidden neuroscience of family surveillance: why every "just checking" reinforces hypervigilance, how tracking apps hijack the same reward circuits as slot machines, and how to rebuild trust without abandoning safety. You'll learn why your brain reads constant location monitoring as a low-level emergency, how "I just want to know they're safe" gradually trains your nervous system to equate vigilance with love — and why that erodes trust in both directions. Dr. Leaf unpacks the four myths that make surveillance feel like care, and walks through her 5-step Trust Neurocycle: a practical tool to break the checking loop and move from monitoring to mentorship. In this episode of your favorite daily comedy show, the gang is joined by comedian Ryan Beck, who casually drops the idea of doing stand-up shows… for kids. Yes, actual children. In a comedy club. Where drinks are normally involved. What could possibly go wrong? Turns out—quite a bit, especially when you're trying to entertain both adults and kids at the same time without accidentally ruining anyone's childhood. From there, things somehow escalate into a full-blown discussion about parenting in 2026, including tracking your kids with apps like Life360, whether that makes you responsible or creepy, and how one bad Snapchat decision led to a legitimately terrifying story. So yeah, fun AND educational. But let's be honest—you're here for the nonsense. And nonsense is exactly what you get when the show plays “Press Your Luck,” a game where contestants have seven seconds to answer a simple question… or they have to give out their phone number live on air. One guy fails. Spectacularly. And now somewhere out there, a phone is still vibrating off the table. We also get into high school reunion dread, the emotional damage of realizing the 2000s were 20 years ago, and the mystery of who keeps deleting Riz from his own high school's Wikipedia page (seriously, this might be a full-blown conspiracy).Oh—and just when you think it couldn't get more uncomfortable, someone writes in with a story about accidentally broadcasting themselves changing clothes to their kid's friend via a smart screen. That's right. This daily comedy show covers everything from birthday laughs to accidental crimes against social dignity. It's messy, it's ridiculous, and it's exactly why you keep coming back to this daily comedy show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

We tell ourselves it’s about safety. But what if tracking our kids is quietly costing them confidence, independence… and trust? With apps like Life360 becoming the norm, many parents are asking: Are we protecting our children — or projecting our anxiety onto them? In this episode, we unpack what constant monitoring does to developing autonomy, whether location-sharing normalises surveillance, and how to balance safety with healthy independence. If you’ve ever checked the app “just in case,” this conversation might change how you see it. KEY POINTS Why over-monitoring may increase anxiety — for parents and kids The developmental cost of constant surveillance How tracking impacts trust, autonomy, and competence When location sharing can work — and when it crosses a line The difference between safety conversations and safety control QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “When parents outsource their anxiety management to technology, children pay the developmental price.” RESOURCES Lenore Skenazy – Free-Range Kids Let Grow movement Claire Rowe (psychologist & parenting writer) Should We Be Tracking Our Kids? [Article] ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Ask yourself: Is this about safety — or my anxiety? Replace monitoring with problem-solving conversations. Gradually expand your child’s freedom in age-appropriate ways. If using location sharing, make it mutual and transparent. Focus on teaching capability, not controlling outcomes. The Aussie market capped a volatile week with a modest gain, as record-breaking gold prices and a tech surge offset weakness in the banking sector. Gold miners remained the standout story, with Evolution, Westgold, and Genesis hitting all-time highs as the precious metal tracked toward its strongest weekly gain since 2020. However, the day’s top performer was Life360, which skyrocketed 27% after hiking profit targets following record user growth. Guzman y Gomez also climbed 4% on an exclusive delivery deal with Uber. Looking ahead, a holiday-shortened week looms with the market closed Monday, followed by a high-stakes local inflation update and earnings from US giants Apple and Microsoft. Hubble Network is redefining what's possible in satellite connectivity by connecting standard Bluetooth chips to satellites over 500 kilometers away using advanced antenna arrays and digital beamforming. Founded in 2021 by Alex Haro (co-founder of Life360, which IPO'd in 2019 and grew to 80+ million monthly active users) and Ben Longmier (whose previous company's protocol became Amazon Sidewalk after acquisition), Hubble has launched seven operational satellites via SpaceX and is serving enterprise customers across intermodal logistics, off-grid construction, and outdoor recreation. In a recent episode of BUILDERS, I sat down with Alex to explore how Hubble is building the infrastructure layer for global IoT—positioning as the "T-Mobile of space" rather than competing in device markets. Topics Discussed: The technical architecture behind connecting Bluetooth to satellites: lowering bit rates, optimizing modulation, and deploying hundreds of antennas for digital beamforming SpaceX's rideshare program mechanics and what it actually takes to book satellite launches as a startup Why Hubble deliberately chose to be network infrastructure rather than building hardware for specific verticals The psychology barrier of overcoming Bluetooth's short-range association—even among experienced RF engineers from Google, Amazon, and Starlink Strategic focus decisions when facing unlimited market opportunity across construction, agriculture, mining, logistics, and defense Transparent pricing as a developer-first GTM strategy versus traditional enterprise carrier sales models The transition from Life360's consumer hardware exploration to founding a satellite networking company GTM Lessons For B2B Founders: Choose your competitive layer strategically—infrastructure scales differently than applications: Hubble explicitly positioned as network infrastructure, not a device manufacturer. Alex stated: "We're not focused on building the hardware or devices. We very much view ourselves as a networking company." This allows enterprise customers to integrate Hubble connectivity into their existing devices with just a software change to the Bluetooth chip. The result: each B2B customer can deploy hundreds or thousands of devices to their end users, creating exponential reach. For founders building horizontal technology, consider whether competing at the infrastructure layer—even if less immediately tangible—creates superior unit economics and market leverage versus building full-stack solutions. Developer-first positioning requires operational commitment, not just marketing: Hubble's pricing transparency wasn't a marketing tactic—Alex described it as "hardcore to our ethos" because their goal is connecting billions of devices. They explicitly modeled after Twilio and Stripe rather than Verizon or AT&T, making it possible for engineers to validate unit economics independently and start free trials without sales conversations. This wasn't debated internally because both co-founders and the early team aligned on this approach. For infrastructure companies targeting massive scale, half-measures on developer experience will fail—the entire go-to-market motion must support self-service validation and transparent economics. Constraint forces clarity—unlimited TAM demands disciplined ICP filtering: Despite viable use cases across construction, oil and gas, mining, agriculture, supply chain, and defense, Alex emphasized: "In the early stages, focus is the most important thing. Every hour matters and being able to focus matters quite a bit and defocusing yourself can really hurt." Hubble's "sexy hook of Bluetooth to space" generates inbound interest across industries, creating constant pressure to expand. Their active debate centers on which industry leaders are "solving important use cases" with existing customer bases of "hundreds, if not thousands of customers." For founders with horizontal technology, resist opportunistic deals—filter aggressively for partners who provide concentrated distribution rather than one-off deployments. Physical demonstration collapses credibility timelines for counterintuitive technology: Hubble faced skepticism even from sophisticated RF engineers because of hardwired associations between Bluetooth and short range. Alex noted: "Some of the investors that joined our A or B, they passed on our seed and A because they thought, well, I believe in Alex, but is this really physically possible?" Post-launch with working satellites, the conversation shifted from "is this possible?" to commercial terms. The lesson isn't just "show don't tell"—it's that for technically improbable innovations, rushing to demonstrable proof compresses months of explanation into minutes of validation. Founders should potentially sacrifice feature breadth to reach a single, undeniable proof point faster. Operational domain expertise reveals infrastructure gaps others can't see: Alex spent years as CTO of Life360 attempting to build connected hardware for families—smart pet collars, GPS watches for kids, fall detectors—but existing networks had "super short battery life, very bulky, no global coverage, way too expensive." He invested in Ben's previous mesh network company and became a close advisor before co-founding Hubble. The insight wasn't theoretical—it came from failing repeatedly to solve the problem with existing infrastructure. Founders should treat operational frustrations in previous roles as proprietary market intelligence: you've already paid the learning cost that competitors will need years to acquire. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co // Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I Hire Senior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams. Joe Concha recaps an epic weekend of NFL playoff action before diving into the "two universes" of news coverage surrounding the controversial Minneapolis ICE incident. Joe dismantles the media narratives pushed by Joe Scarborough, Steve Kerr, and Doc Rivers regarding the confrontation, arguing the video evidence contradicts the outrage. Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer joins the show to discuss media bias and why Democrats are ignoring the facts on the ground. Plus, Joe reacts to Stephen A. Smith's take on sanctuary cities, roasts the "woke" lectures at the low-rated Golden Globes, and marvels at a New York socialite who didn't notice her husband's affair for 21 years because she didn't have Life360. In Part 2 of this heartfelt and practical series, Shelly continues her conversation with parent coach Diana Davidson — and this time, they're moving beyond the emotions of drop-off and diving into what actually happens next.Once the dorm room is set up and the goodbye tears dry, a brand-new season of parenting begins. The rhythms change, communication shifts, and the “How often should I check in?” questions start rolling in. And if you've ever struggled with things like Life360, texting boundaries, or knowing how to support your college student without hovering — you're not alone.Diana offers real-life strategies for navigating this new dynamic with confidence, peace, and connection. From communication rhythms to practical boundaries to fun creative ways to stay close across the miles, this episode gives you tools you can use today.Whether your student calls every day or hasn't texted you back all week, this conversation will help you build trust, stay grounded, and embrace this next chapter with intention.Key TakeawaysParenting from a distance requires a shift from manager to guide on the side.Every child has different communication rhythms — honor their personality, not someone else's.Before setting expectations, have a simple conversation: “What kind of communication feels good for you?”Boundaries create trust — and reduce anxiety on both sides. If Life360 causes stress or control, ask: Is this for my child or for me?Simple connection points (photos, pets, plants, playlists) can keep relationships warm without pressure.Your child grows when you give them space — and your confidence grows too.Links and ResourcesConnect with Diana: https://dianadavidsoncoaching.comDiana's free parent care package“They're in College… Now What?” free webinarJoin the Simple Shifts newsletter: https://midlifemadesimplepodcast.com Resources:Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/shellyniehaus/Simple Shifts Newsletter: https://midlifemadesimplepodcast.com/tipsWomen Entrepreneurs In Prayer Call - https://midlifemadesimplepodcast.com/prayer
How do our phones, apps, and digital tools quietly shap our experience of motherhood. We're joined by Amanda Hess, writer at large for The New York Times and author of Second Life: Having a Child in the Digital Age. Amanda shares how pregnancy apps, tracking tools, and hyper-targeted ads didn't just “support” her— they started defining what kind of mom she thought she was supposed to be. From fertility tracking and bump apps to baby monitors, sleep trackers, and Life360-style teen surveillance, we unpack the subtle ways tech feeds anxiety, perfectionism, and the pressure to “optimize” everything… including our kids. In this episode, you'll hear: How one pregnancy app quietly shifted Amanda from “this is helpful” to “this is telling me who my baby should be”—and why that mattered when her son's diagnosis didn't match the glossy digital version. What happens when your phone knows your pregnancy before your friends do, and how targeted ads start shaping your identity as a mom before your baby is even born. The hidden emotional cost of baby and teen surveillance tech (like smart socks and location tracking apps) and why they create more anxiety than actual safety. Simple mindset shifts to reclaim your intuition in a tech-saturated world, so your phone becomes a tool—not the authority on your parenting. This week on the show, Dr. Ken and Cynthia dig into listener questions. They start with digital monitoring: What do you do when Life360 tells you your teen is speeding or texting while driving? Dr. Ken breaks down when consequences help, when they don't, and why too much monitoring can accidentally communicate, “Your life is still our life.”Next up: a 21-year-old daughter who wants to stay at her boyfriend's apartment when she comes home. Dr. Ken tackles how parents can hold to their moral convictions without assuming financial threats will change a child's heart. Then they move to the rise in occult-ish curiosity—numerology, crystals, spells—and how to talk to teens about what's concerning, what's just cultural noise, and how to communicate your beliefs without panic or power struggles. Finally, they take on a question every parent asks at some point (okay fine… at least Cynthia asks it weekly): How do you connect with a teen who barely says three words? Dr. Ken explains why silence doesn't mean distance, how to keep communication open without pushing, and why sometimes the most meaningful parenting happens when your teen grunts in your general direction.Today's show is practical, relatable, and filled with answers to the questions you're asking. From $700 a Month to a $9B Giant: Building Life360 with Chris Hulls What happens when a founder ignores the “safe path,” bets on himself, and keeps going long after most people would've quit? In this episode of The Jess Larsen Show on Innovation & Leadership, Jess sits down with Chris Hulls — Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Life360, the world's largest family safety platform with 90+ million monthly active users and a public valuation approaching $9 billion. Chris's journey is anything but conventional. He went from growing up in a small farm town… to enlisting in the Air Force at 17… to almost becoming a dishwasher at the South Pole… to dropping out of Harvard Business School… to living in a friend's closet on $700/month while building the first version of Life360. But the real story is what came next: —a category-defining pivot from disaster response to family location sharing, —launching on Android before anyone believed teens would ever have smartphones, —surviving seven slow years before meaningful traction, —and ultimately building a platform that detects car crashes, dispatches tens of thousands of ambulances a year, and has become a “social network for families.” Chris and Jess go deep into what it actually takes to scale from zero to multi-billion-dollar market cap: the messy pivots, the lucky breaks, the conviction bets, why too much “data-driven thinking” kills innovation, and why founders must learn to hold two opposing truths at once — relentless belief and complete surrender to the chaos. This is a conversation for founders, leaders, and anyone who wants to understand the real psychology behind building something massive from scratch. Learn more about your ad choices. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In 10/04/25. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. This weekly broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS In the US, chaos and anxiety continue with another so-called government shutdown. President Donald J. Trump threatens additional cuts to federal employment, while furloughed and locked out employees ponder when and if they will be compensated. The National Guard will not be shutdown, and hundreds of troops are being parceled to Memphis, Tennessee to quell criminal unrest. Meanwhile in Vallejo, California a 28-year-old black female “was hidden inside a secret wall inside a detached unit at a Vallejo home,” according to FOX2 news. A 41-year-old White Man was arrested for Renia Lewis's death after her family used Life360 to locate her mobile phone. Lewis's murder has many tragic similarities to the 2024 murder and dismemberment of Sade C. Robinson. We're two days from the born date of the late Neely Fuller Jr., who was born into the System of White Supremacy on October 6th, 1929. Gus found it noteworthy that George Stinney, who was sentenced to death in a South Carolina electric chair at the age of 14, was born about 2 weeks apart from Neely Fuller Jr. on October 21stt. #EndStageWhiteSupremacy #INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: http://cash.app/$TheCOWS Call: 720.716.7300 Code: 564943#
