On this episode of The Ty Brady Way, Ty reflects on a classic story called "The Little Red Hen" to convey a powerful message about hard work and dedication. Ty shares how the story tells of a diligent hen who seeks help from her companions – a dog, a pig, and a cow – at various stages of growing and making bread. However, each time, they refuse to assist and choose to sunbathe instead. The little red hen persists, doing all the work herself. When the bread is finally ready, the dog, pig, and cow eagerly want to share it, but the hen enjoys it alone.   Ty draws parallels between this story and the life of an entrepreneur. Ty emphasizes that success isn't just about the highlight reel; it's about the unseen hard work, dedication, and sacrifices that lead to that success. The story serves as a reminder that there is no substitution for hard work, and individuals must be willing to put in the effort and make sacrifices to achieve their goals.   Ty encourages you to assess your willingness to put in the hard work required for success, to overcome challenges, and to achieve your dreams   As always, we would like to hear from you! Work a four letter word? Prov 12:11 #Nightlight #RTTBROS Work 4 letter word? Paul Chappell He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he t followeth vain persons is void of understanding-Proverbs 12:11 Though it may have originated in Russia, the origins of the childrens story The Little Red Hen are uncertain. This little parable describe hen who found some wheat seeds and invited the other barnyard anim to help her grow and harvest the wheat. Despite her repeated asking assistance, none of them are interested in planting, weeding, watering harvesting, milling, or baking. Yet when the delicious bread is finish they are more than happy to help eat it. Instead the Little Red Hen said "I'll eat it myself." She had done all of the work, and she deserved the satisfaction of reaping the fruit of her efforts. Our society does not value work as it once did. There are man government programs providing funding for those who are unwilling t labor. (This is different than providing help for those who cannot hel themselves.) These programs produce a negative incentive. When there is no connection between work and reward, it is not hard to understand why people regard work as something to be avoided if at all possible Those who are able to work but refuse to do so cheat themselves of the satisfaction and accomplishment that comes from diligent labor. Instead of drifting along with the culture, God's people should b shining examples of diligent workers. Whether or not the task is enjoyable or pays as much as we think it should, work is part of God's plan for our lives. We must remember that ultimately our labor is for the Lord, no our human boss, Colossians 3:23-24 admonishes, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ Today's Word to the Wise: Do all of your work diligently, realizing that you rob yourself as well as others when you do less than your best. We started our Travel Brat Texas trip by flying Delta into Dallas, picking up a car from my fave new rental car company, Thrifty, and scooting over to the most beautiful little historic town. The historic town of McKinney, Texas, was about 45 minutes from the airport and a must-visit hidden gem on the outskirts of Dallas! We stayed in the most charming hotel- The Grand Hotel of McKinney. The Grand Hotel was built in 1885 by the Heard Brothers. When built, the Grand consisted of an original 14 rooms, a Grand Ballroom, and Rick's Chophouse. It was only 15,000 square feet! Later, the Tower was added, expanding the hotel to 45 rooms. From the Willy Nelson book in our room to the Grand Ballroom and rustic red brick walls, the Grand Hotel was charming from head to toe. My favorite part was the tasteful paintings on every floor and in every room, and the little library at the end of the hall right by our room!Check out the Grand Hotel's Experience Page for the 411 on McKinney. The town of McKinney was quaint and charming. For morning coffee, there are two great spots: Layered and Filtered. Layered had the best hot chocolate and a killer lavender late. The most remarkable addition to the restaurant was the little robot cat tray that brought out our food. Yes, in the "story for all ages", she did all the work. But in our real lives, do we want to eat alone, while others have nothing to eat? When we examine the ways we are connected to others, we will most often find that it is where we work, where we serve, and where we share that we feel connected. Beyond the parable of the Little Red Hen, this service is also about building that connection more deeply, and includes our Worship Associate's reflection on "Belonging and Serving." My guests Stephanie Nye and Kirsten Finberg are each lovely in their own right, but because they are longtime friends who work side-by-side at the Morro Bay Farmers Market each Thursday afternoon, they are magic together. Stephanie (aka Soupgangsta) is the brains behind Farmers Market Inspired Soups, a company she's had for many years that feeds folks tasty soups made from produce she gets at the market. I first came across Stephanie's work via her cookbook, Central Coast Farmers Market Soups, a beautiful love letter to our home and the agriculture it supports, plus recipes of course. Kirsten Finberg is another person I'd met once or twice but never had the chance to really get to know. She is the owner and baker behind Little Red Hen Bread, which makes wood-fired breads for sale at farmers markets and other local outlets. Kirsten is a firecracker with energy, brains, and humor to spare. The two of these ladies work at several farmers markets, but when they met at the Morro Bay Market, they knew they'd become friends, just like soup and bread. But NOT like cherries, as you'll soon understand. Anyway, listen in and you'll feel like you're right at the table with us.   Buy Stephanie's book here.   Little Red Hen Bread Instagram: @littleredhenbread Farmers Market Inspired Soups website: farmersmarketsoup.wordpress.com Instagram: @soupgangsta

Sometimes stories are so new and different from the ones we are used to hearing that we have a hard time understanding their value. We all have to work through a little fear of the unknown, and it takes some practice to see the goodness in new stories. The good news is, we can learn to see the inherent goodness in those stories. The more we listen to new and different tales, the more we consider the different cultural lenses through which people may see those stories, and therefore, the more we learn to love them and their tellers. Even if stories differ from the ones you tell, you can often find their inherent goodness as you listen. Today's stories will explore quirky ideas like a snake's marriage proposal to a woman and even a donkey challenging a toad to a race! Each story may seem a little odd at first, but if you listen for a bit of their inherent goodness, you will hear themes of familial strength and expanded love. Today on The Apple Seed, enjoy the following:"The Woman and the Snake" by Barry Stewart Mann from The Improbable Love of Ethel and Elmer and Other (8:23)Professional actor, writer, and storyteller Barry Stewart Man tells of a girl named Ambala, who can't seem to get rid of her illness. One day, the snake she and her father take care of every day appears to her in a dream, and tells her she will be healed. When she finds herself free of the illness soon after, she begins living a confident life till she is again visited by the snake in another dream. This time, he declares that she will marry him! And so, believing his predictions, she prepares to do just that. Listen in as Barry tells The Woman and the Snake, from his album The Improbable Love of Ethel and Elmer and Other. "The Three Army Surgeons" by Ingrid Nixon from Grimm's with a Twist  (8:34)Inspirational speaker and storyteller Ingrid Nixon tells of three army surgeons who were so skilled that they could remove their own body parts and sew them right back on by morning. One day, during their stay at an inn, the surgeons body parts go missing – the inn keeper and his wife find a way to replace their body parts, hoping they will not notice the different when morning comes. Puzzle along to this quirky tale as Ingrid tells The Three Army Surgeons, from her album Grimm's with a Twist.  "Donkey and Toad" by The Storycrafters from Classics with a Twist (8:00)Storytelling duo Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns, also known as The Storycrafters, tell of a donkey who would always brag about his long, strong legs as he laughs about his friend Toad's short, stubby ones. Toad enlists his children in helping him win the race, and instructs to jump out at Donkey and sing their ancestral song at him as he passes by. Tune in to the lyrics of this quirky song as The Storycrafters sing along to Donkey and Toad, from their album Classics with a Twist.  "The People Who Could Fly" by Kim and Reggie Harris (16:19)Our country is still wrestiling with a history so entangled with the enslavement of fellow human beings. A wealth of stories grew up among those enslaved people. And it's so remarkable that such a persistent thread among those stories is the thread of the mythical ability of the people to fly away to the magical country called "Freedom". This story called "the People Who Could Fly" was recorded live at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival.  "The Little Red Hen" by Donald Davis from Grandma's Lap Stories (8:09)Donald Davis usually enthralls audiences with stories of his youth growing up in the Appalachian Mountains. But he tells traditional tales, too. Like "The Little Red Hen".
