It's another exclusive one on one conversation with our insider Dan Rafael, he speaks with Amir Khan. This, as the former two division world champ announced his retirement this past weekend. Khan looks back on his 17 year pro career that saw him capture the WBA 140 lb. title in 2009. Khan would make five successful defenses against Dmitriy Salita, Paulie Malignaggi (in his American debut in Malignaggi's hometown of New York), Marcos Maidana (in a rousing Las Vegas battle), Paul McCloskey and a fifth-round body-shot knockout of Zab Judah to take his IBF belt in a unification fight. Khan would move up to welterweight and go on to defeat opponents such as former world titleholders Luis Collazo, Devin Alexander and Chris Algieri but he would lose two more world title fights by knockout. He stepped up to middleweight (at a 155-pound catch weight) to challenge WBC champion Canelo Alvarez and got knocked out in spectacular fashion in the sixth round in 2016. A two-year layoff followed and in 2019, Khan was stopped in the sixth round challenging WBO welterweight titlist Terence Crawford. Khan notched his final win in his next fight when he knocked out former featherweight titlist Billy Dib in the fourth round in Saudi Arabia before ending a 2½-year layoff to face fellow former champ Brit Kel Brook. Brook stopped Khan in their long overdue battle. Khan gives his thoughts on it all, including his short term future on "Fight Freaks Unite." In this episode of the Minnesota Fight Night podcast, we glance back at the nationally televised Aug. 7 card at the Minneapolis Armory. On that card, Mykal Fox came in on short notice to fight Gabriel Maestre for an interim WBA welterweight title. Most observers believe Fox won the fight, but the judges gave it to Maestre, a two-time Olympian. We interviewed Fox mere minutes after the fight, and you'll hear our conversation in this episode. Also featured are interviews with Luis Collazo, whose Aug. 7 fight with Eimantas Stanionis ended in a no-decision after a clash of heads, and Lucas Santamaria, who upset former two-division world champion Devon Alexander. The Minnesota Fight Night podcast's intro music is "Ali Shuffle," a fabulous instrumental by the great Toler-Townsend Band. Used with permission. Special thanks to Deb Toler. For the second time this summer, the eyes of the boxing world will be on Minneapolis as the historic Armory hosts a nationally televised boxing event this Saturday night, August 7. Some of the top welterweights in the world will be featured on the card, which will be shown live on FOX. Headlining the card is a WBA title eliminator pitting hard-hitting rising welterweight contender Eimantas Stanionis against former world champion Luis Collazo. At stake is the WBA's interim welterweight title. In the co-feature, former two-time Olympian Gabriel Maestre takes on Mykal Fox, winner of 22 of 24 professional fights. Maestre has taken the boxing world by storm as a pro after a decorated amateur career. He represented Venezuela in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and is now 3-0 as a pro with three KOs. In yet another compelling welterweight match-up, former two-division world champion Devon Alexander “The Great” returns to the squared circle after a two-year layoff. Alexander faces a tough challenge in the person of Lucas Santamaria of Garden Grove, California. An interested observer at the fights will be Armory fan favorite Jamal “Shango” James of Minneapolis. James holds the WBA's regular welterweight title. Premier Boxing Champions held a press conference for Saturday's card in downtown Minneapolis Thursday, and the Minnesota Fight Night Podcast was there. In this episode, we present highlights from the press conference, as well as one-on-one interviews with Collazo, Alexander and Maestre. In the exclusive Minnesota Fight Night interviews, Alexander talks about his connections to Minnesota boxing and his current mindset as he reboots his career. Also, Brooklyn, New York, fighter Collazo expands on his announcement that Saturday's fight will likely be his last -- and he throws in a mention of his favorite Minnesota Vikings player. In a stellar career, Collazo has won 39 of 47 professional fights and has been in the ring with the likes of Keith Thurman, Amir Kahn, Victor Ortiz and Sammy Vargas. The Minnesota Fight Night podcast's intro music is "Ali Shuffle," a fabulous instrumental by the great Toler-Townsend Band. Used with permission. Special thanks to Deb Toler. BY MIKE COPPINGERTerence Crawford is headed toward a matchup with Luis Collazo on March 23 at New York’s Madison Square Garden; it’s another routine title defense for “Bud,” an elite fighter who’s yet to share the ring with another such talent.C0llazo wasn’t Top Rank’s first choice, though. Before Top Rank president Todd duBoef began negotiating a deal with Collazo manager Keith Connolly, the promotional company made overtures to a different fighter advised by Al Haymon.https://www.patreon.com/ThaboxingvoiceBUY THA BOXING VOICE T-SHIRT HERE http://thaboxingvoice.com/storePLEASE SUPPORT!!! Woodsy heads to the media day for the August 4th New York card: Devon Alexander VS Andre Berto. He first talks to promoter Lou DiBella, touching upon his other fighter not on this card, Deontay Wilder. Next up is Luis Collazo (37-7) fighting Bryant Perrella. He admits to having been suicidal and overcoming adversities to get back in the ring. Finally, Woodsy talks to Peter Quillin, asking him about his inactivity. Quillin talks about having to step up as a husband and father, not just as a fighter. He says he's smarter, wise, and ready to fight again.

Welterweight Keith Thurman fluted his way to a tough victory over Luis Collazo in the main event of boxing's return to ESPN, and Willie Nelson (not that one, but we know what you mean) scored a great knockout over previously unbeaten Tony Harrison in the opener. Was the entertainment value all part of some Premier Boxing Champions master plan, or did we once more get an accidentally-fun boxing card? Junior welterweight Mauricio Herrera finally caught a break, although he may not have deserved it against Hank Lundy on HBO Latino. The irony is that Herrera still wound up being punished even in a win, as the fight ended early as a result of a bad cut over Herrera's eye. Terry Flanagan picked up a lightweight belt under disappointing circumstances in Manchester, after Jose Zepeda suffered a freak shoulder dislocation and couldn't continue after round two. ...so that sucks. For Zepeda, anyway. This coming weekend, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr faces Marcos Reyes on Showtime in his first fight back since being stopped by Andrzej Fonfara, and Carl Frampton makes his U.S. debut on CBS, fighting Alejandro Gonzalez, Jr in Texas. Overseas, it's Arthur Abraham vs Robert Stieglitz XXVI from Germany and so forth, and Scott Quigg vs Kiko Martinez on Sky Sports. Toss in Leo Santa Cruz vs Abner Mares being finalized and Miguel Cotto vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez close, and James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor have a lot to tackle. TRIS DIXON has returned from Las Vegas and spills the beans to Matt Christie about an eventful trip, punctuated by Marcos Maidana’s better than expected effort to end Floyd Mayweather’s unbeaten run. Also up for discussion is Amir Khan’s impressive victory over Luis Collazo, Adrien Broner’s repulsive mouth, updates on Paul Williams and Paul Ingle, and a look ahead to the British showdown between Martin Gethin and Derry Mathews. No politics, just boxing. Get involved.
Watch Floyd Mayweather put his perfect record on the line against Marcos Maidana in this welterweight unification bout, plus Amir Khan's anticipated return to the ring versus Luis Collazo.
The intoxication we always seem to feel in the wake of bigger fights and events takes a bit to wear off. We're still worried about the Justin Biebers and Lil Johns and DMXs and excessive holdings and attempted scrotum assaults and so forth. How can we actually take a far enough step back to assess the fight with a semi-clear head? Have we even stopped drinking since the fight began??? This week on Queensberry Rules Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Queensberry-Rules' Patrick Connor recap #TheMoment, AKA that elephant-in-the-room on your cable bill that somebody couldn't bother to come up with an actually creative name or catchphrase for. Floyd Mayweather's struggle with Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan's clutch purse of a win over Luis Collazo, Adrien Broner's whatever-that-was against Carlos Molina and J'Leon Love's win over Marco Antonio Periban. All of it. Bermane Stiverne vs Chris Arreola previewing will probably be in there too. Returning to the show is assistant boxing coach for UC Davis, Joel Stern. Thanks for tuning in!
It's a huge weekend in Las Vegas with Floyd Mayweather putting his '0' on the line against Marcus Maidana. Amir Khan returns to the ring too, fighting Luis Collazo on the undercard. We have Steve Bunce discussing both fights and the latest on the build up to Froch v Groves II.
IN this week’s Opening Bell Matt Christie is joined by Danny Flexen due to Tris Dixon being out in Las Vegas. They discuss the thrilling encounter that was Lucas Matthysse-John Molina Jnr, and examine Wladimir Klitschko’s heavyweight legacy following his win over Alex Leapai. Then there’s the small matter of Floyd Mayweather’s impending showdown with Marcos Maidana, and Amir Khan’s make-or-break scrap with Luis Collazo. No politics, just boxing. Get Involved.
On May 3rd , Showtime Pay-Per-View brings you a night of boxing loaded with 4 must see fights! Mayweather vs. Maidana, Khan vs. Collazo, Broner vs. Molina, and Love vs. Periban.
IT’S that time of the week where Tris Dixon and Matt Christie discuss the comings and goings of the boxing world. Hot topics this week are Tony Thompson proving he's one of the best heavyweights in the world by beating Odlanier Solis, Shannon Briggs trying to get a title shot by throwing a shoe at Wladimir Klitschko, and Tyson Fury's bad table manners. Also up for discussion is Amir Khan's showdown with Luis Collazo, the passing of Mickey Duff, and the emergence of Kid Galahad. No politics, just boxing. Get Involved.
It happened. Luis Collazo landed a huge punch, and Face Lube™ was not enough to bring Victor Ortiz's legs to life. Oscar de la Hoya tweeted, the internet imploded and there was generalized boxing chaos. That might be a slight exaggeration, but it was another Ortiz escapade. James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor should have a tasteless joke or two to share on the incident, as well as recapping of Gennady Golovkin vs. Osumanu Adama and more news. Thanks for tuning in!
Luis Collazo gets the big victory he's always wanted. Ricardo Mayorga announces a comeback and issues an unlikely challenge. Gennady Golovkin is getting closer to Sergio Martinez. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. seems to be getting his act together and Oliver McCall continues to fight simply because he can. And how far has the influence of BOXING 4 FREE extended THIS time? Listen and find out!

That's it. We're through it. We survived the first big fight weekend of 2014 and nothing happened that we can't recover from. Not much great happened, but most of us weren't expecting anything from the "___ of the Year" class anyway. Besides, we just went through that stuff. Some significant things happened though -- things worth blabbering about for a few hours, at least. This week on Queensberry Rules Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Queensberry-Rules' Patrick Connor cut to the heart of why exactly you're a boxing fan, and they'll make fun of everything to the point of annoyance. There was Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Carlos Burgos, Lamont Peterson vs. Dierry Jean, Bryant Jennings vs. Artur Szpilka, Jermell Charlo vs. Gabe Rosado, and much more. Also this coming week, Victor Ortiz makes his return against Luis Collazo on Fox Sports 1. Joining TQBR Radio this week, contributor for The Sweet Science and assistant boxing coach at UC Davis Joel Stern. Also, last minute special guest Queensberry Rules contributor Matt Swain. Thanks for tuning in!
