On this segment of "Real Talk", the Ring Gang crew preview Jaron Boots Ennis vs Eimantas Stanionis
Jaron ‘Boots' Ennis turned in a terrific showing to dismantle Eimantas Stanionis with aplomb inside six rounds. Yet there's still plenty to do before those labelling him great are proved correct. Critics still say he takes too many punches and one wonders if the talent pool at welterweight is deep enough to take him forward. Yet there should be no doubt he's a very special fighter. Yet Hannah Rankin's journey in combat sports might be reaching its end after a grisly KO loss in BKB saw her lying unconscious. And we reflect on the penultimate fight in Chris Eubank's career as This Week In History focuses on the British superstar climbing to cruiserweight to challenge Carl ‘The Cat' Thompson. It's a brand new edition of our recap show with only one significant fight card world wide. So, that leaves our host T.J. Rives and insider Dan Rafael with more time to discuss news and some excellent boxing and even, 80s U.S. Primetime TV drama debate! It's all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast!"They begin with the brief Recap of Boxxer card from Sheffield, England, where super middleweight Callum Simpson scored a dubious TKO over Steed Woodall in the second round and retains British/Commonwealth 168 lb. titles. T.J. takes the lead on the referee with a reference to another premature stoppage in a prominent fight in London last Fall. Also, lightweight Caroline Dubois got a technical draw at the start of the 3rd round against an already battered Jessica Camara. Dubois retains WBC women's crown, but there's debate on should this one have been an actual stoppage on the badly swollen eye from punches that had nothing to do with the cut on the other eye. For fight news:Sam Goodman is again cut in same spot over his eye and out of the January 24 Nayoa Inoue undisputed 122 lb. fight. Inoue will instead defend the undisputed junior featherweight title vs. late sub Ye Joon Kim of South Korea. We have more on him.Dan is reporting that the target date for WBC/WBO junior middleweight titlist Sebastian Fundora vs. former three-belt unified welterweight titlist Errol Spence Jr. is March 29 at MGM Grand. T.J. wonders.... well.... you know! With Teofimo Lopez inactive, no fight scheduled, as he turned down several fights from Top Rank, the WBO has upgraded Jack Catterall-Arnold Barboza Jr. final junior welterweight eliminator to the vacant interim title bout on Feb.15th.And, the IBF welterweight titlist Jaron “Boots” Ennis and WBA counterpart Eimantas Stanionis are in talks for a unification fight. Per WBA president Gilberto Mendoza, Stanionis mandatory challenger Shakhram Giyasov has agreed to step aside. Finally some nostalgia: January 14, 2017 – 8 years ago this Tuesday – James DeGale and Badou Jack fight to a majority draw in an epic super middleweight unification fight and in the co-feature sees Gervonta Davis TKO7 then-unbeaten Jose Pedraza to win the IBF junior lightweight title, Davis' first world title. Dan was ringside at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for this. And, we salute heavyweight hall of famers George Foreman, who turned 76 on Friday and the late Joe Frazier would have turned 81 on Sunday. And, the boys debate some 1980's American TV dramas between "Dallas," 'Dynasty," and "Miami Vice." It's worthwile to stick around for!Hear it all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast" and make sure to rate and review us on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!

In this episode of the Minnesota Fight Night podcast, we glance back at the nationally televised Aug. 7 card at the Minneapolis Armory. On that card, Mykal Fox came in on short notice to fight Gabriel Maestre for an interim WBA welterweight title. Most observers believe Fox won the fight, but the judges gave it to Maestre, a two-time Olympian. We interviewed Fox mere minutes after the fight, and you'll hear our conversation in this episode. Also featured are interviews with Luis Collazo, whose Aug. 7 fight with Eimantas Stanionis ended in a no-decision after a clash of heads, and Lucas Santamaria, who upset former two-division world champion Devon Alexander. The Minnesota Fight Night podcast's intro music is "Ali Shuffle," a fabulous instrumental by the great Toler-Townsend Band. Used with permission. Special thanks to Deb Toler. For the second time this summer, the eyes of the boxing world will be on Minneapolis as the historic Armory hosts a nationally televised boxing event this Saturday night, August 7. Some of the top welterweights in the world will be featured on the card, which will be shown live on FOX. Headlining the card is a WBA title eliminator pitting hard-hitting rising welterweight contender Eimantas Stanionis against former world champion Luis Collazo. At stake is the WBA's interim welterweight title. In the co-feature, former two-time Olympian Gabriel Maestre takes on Mykal Fox, winner of 22 of 24 professional fights. Maestre has taken the boxing world by storm as a pro after a decorated amateur career. He represented Venezuela in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and is now 3-0 as a pro with three KOs. In yet another compelling welterweight match-up, former two-division world champion Devon Alexander “The Great” returns to the squared circle after a two-year layoff. Alexander faces a tough challenge in the person of Lucas Santamaria of Garden Grove, California. An interested observer at the fights will be Armory fan favorite Jamal “Shango” James of Minneapolis. James holds the WBA's regular welterweight title. Premier Boxing Champions held a press conference for Saturday's card in downtown Minneapolis Thursday, and the Minnesota Fight Night Podcast was there. In this episode, we present highlights from the press conference, as well as one-on-one interviews with Collazo, Alexander and Maestre. In the exclusive Minnesota Fight Night interviews, Alexander talks about his connections to Minnesota boxing and his current mindset as he reboots his career. Also, Brooklyn, New York, fighter Collazo expands on his announcement that Saturday's fight will likely be his last -- and he throws in a mention of his favorite Minnesota Vikings player. In a stellar career, Collazo has won 39 of 47 professional fights and has been in the ring with the likes of Keith Thurman, Amir Kahn, Victor Ortiz and Sammy Vargas. The Minnesota Fight Night podcast's intro music is "Ali Shuffle," a fabulous instrumental by the great Toler-Townsend Band. Used with permission. Special thanks to Deb Toler.
