It's unfortunate the Los Angeles Lakers leapfrogged both the Sixers and the New York Knicks because it MAY HAVE given the Sixers the opportunity to draft a player who may have been a better fit -- Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell. Adio and David tackle that possibility, as well as other possibilities that could have risen, had the universe split into a different realm. Trade down for Devin Booker? At the end of 2015, I met Tim Coker at the legendary Grumpy's open mic. Together, we started The Misprints. Ok, we started 16 Towers that turned into The Misprints and we may have had a few other names in there as well. That year, we played at every open mic we could and quickly started getting paid gigs. Our band grew into a 6-piece with saxophone, bass, drums, lead guitar and two singer/songwriters, me and Tim. We played at Brutopia, Anti-cafe, The Bar Fly, The Pistolero and many others. We performed at POP MTL at Bar LeRitz with the Maybe Greys and May Have. Shortly thereafter, we lost our sax player to New York and everyone else just fell apart. But, we have a recording of the first time that Tim Coker, Christopher Poolman and I got together to make music in Tim's big room in the gay village. It was pretty magical.

Terminator 2: Judgment DayWritten, directed and produced by James CameronStarring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and Edward Furlong.Released July 3, 1991Budget: $98mBox office: $520.9mGross: $422.9mPlot:Intro: LA 2029 Humans battling the machines. Voiceover 3 billion lives lost on April 29, 1997 - Judgement day.S: all practical effects, no CGI-the music!-And then the Terminator coming through the flames at the end of the intro epic In 1995, John Connor is living in Los Angeles with his foster parents. Hismother, Sarah Connor, had been preparing him throughout his childhood for hisfuture role as the human resistance leader against Skynet, the artificialintelligence that will be given control of the United States' nuclear missiles andinitiate a nuclear holocaust on August 29, 1997, known thereafter as "JudgmentDay". However, Sarah was arrested and imprisoned at a mental hospital afterattempting to bomb a computer factory. In 2029, Skynet sends a newTerminator, designated as T-1000, back in time to kill John. The T-1000 is anadvanced prototype made out of liquid metal (referred to as "mimetic polyalloy")that gives it the ability to take on the shape and appearance of almost anything ittouches, and to transform its arms into blades and other shapes at will. TheT-1000 arrives, kills a policeman, and assumes his identity; he also uses thepolice computer to track down John. Meanwhile, the future John Connor hassent back a reprogrammed Model 101 Terminator to protect his younger self. S: T101 entrance badass, little spoiled by “Bad to the Bone”-T1000 intro very mincing. We also don't know what kind of Terminator he is, yet-Early 90's point: foster dad smoking inside. Weird.-John Conners friend is Danny Cooksey, who also played Bobby Budnick on Nickelodeon's show Salute Your Shorts from 91-93. The Terminator and the T-1000 converge on John in a shopping mall, and achase ensues after which John and the Terminator escape together on amotorcycle. Fearing that the T-1000 will kill Sarah in order to get to him, Johnorders the Terminator to help free her, after discovering that the Terminator mustfollow his orders. They encounter Sarah as she is escaping from the hospital, although she is initially reluctant to trust the Model 101. After the trio escapefrom the T-1000 in a police car, the Terminator informs John and Sarah aboutSkynet's history.[a] Sarah learns that the man most directly responsible forSkynet's creation is Miles Bennett Dyson, a Cyberdyne Systems engineerworking on a revolutionary new microprocessor that will form the basis forSkynet. S:-Sarah Conner is 29-Note when T1000 is questioning foster parents, dogs barking in background.-I like how both terminators are stalking/pursing John. We're not sure of their intention, yet.-brilliant how they used corporate coverup to eliminate any plot holes from the previous film.*MALL:*-The Afterburner video game (which was an awesome game) John is playing says “The End” as the terminators zero in.-when the terminator pulls the shotgun from the flowers why does he have to cock it? Why isn't it already loaded?-I love the sound design of the liquid metal terminator-The music, pacing, acting, and editing, make this first fight between the terminators perfect. Zero emotion.*CHASE:*-TOW TRUCK OFF THE BRIDGE!!-Is it normal for all the broken down/abandoned cars in the drainage things?-T101 doing the swing reload on the motorcycle = AWESOME.-How does a heavy tow truck bumping a 10-12 year old on a dirt bike not knock him over?!-Biggest complaint about the whole section: sometimes you can tell it's stunt actors.-Also, T1000 walking through flames = epic.GETTING AWAY:-followed by a LOT of exposition.-foster parents on phone, dogs barking again.-Sarah plays it REALLY smart when being questioned.-90's lingo: “Did you call MUWAH a dipshit?”SARAH ESCAPE:-I tried picking locks with paper clips bc of this movie. Never worked.-T1000 coming off the floor, awesome.-Guard has a full house, 2 aces and 3 diamonds.-Sound design, how the footsteps change when T1000 changes from guard to original form.*MENTAL HOSPITAL ESCAPE*-Iconic line: “I swear I will not kill anybody” then shoots the guard, “He'll live”-Sarah's fear seeing the T101 = excellent-T1000 going through the bars 10 years BEFORE The Rock and his CGI scorpion king in the Mummy Returns. James Cameron ahead of his time.-When did John get all the ammo?-like most sound design, but T1000 sounds like he's got a silencer, and shooting a shotgun and 45 in an elevator, they'd be deaf.-Lots of exposition, Dyson, sky net and cyberdyne. Sarah gathers weapons from an old friend and plans to flee with John to Mexico, but after having a nightmare about Judgment Day, she instead sets out to killDyson in order to prevent Judgment Day from occurring. Finding him at hishome, she wounds him but finds herself unable to kill him in front of his family.John and the Terminator arrive and inform Dyson of the future consequences ofhis work. They learn that much of his research has been reverse engineeredfrom the damaged CPU and the right arm of the previous Terminator whoattacked Sarah back in 1984. Convincing him that these items and his designsmust be destroyed, they break into the Cyberdyne building, retrieve the CPUand the arm, and set explosives to destroy Dyson's lab. The police arrive andDyson is fatally shot, but he rigs an improvised dead man's switch thatdetonates the explosives when he dies. The T-1000 relentlessly pursues thesurviving trio, eventually cornering them in a steel mill. S:MEXICO:-in the car, lots of exposition, 90's slang galore: no problemo, chill out dickwad.-Background and building Sarah Conner as more than helpless waitress from T1-Sarah realizes T101 is the best father John could have.-Sarah's dream sequence was amazing. All practical effects. So well done.  (Movie Magic show)DYSON HOUSE:-Why couldn't she kill Dyson? No fate quote? Not taking the boys father away? She knows someone else will make skynet happen anyway?-lots more exposition.CYBERDYNE:-A child can use a backpack computer to “hack” a computer engineering company lock? Ok.-Why does the T1000 need a helmet?-T101 WITH A MINI GUN!!-Mp5, iconic 90's cop/bad guy gun.-T101 hallway walk, mixture of real and fake. (Movie magic show)CHASE:-Impressive helicopter pilot skills-Love this is all full sized, real vehicles, not CGI/green screen. All practical.-Awes9me progression of T1000 freezing and breaking.-Hasta la vista, baby. The T-1000 and Model 101 fight and the more advanced model seriouslydamages and shuts down the Model 101. However, unbeknownst to the T-1000,the Model 101 brings itself back online using an alternate power source. TheT-1000 nearly kills John and Sarah but the Model 101 takes it by surprise andblasts it into a crucible of molten steel with a grenade launcher, dissolving anddestroying it. John tosses the arm and CPU of the original Terminator into thevat as well. As Sarah expresses relief that the ordeal is over, the Terminatorexplains that to ensure that it is not used for reverse engineering it must itself bedestroyed too. It asks Sarah to assist in lowering it into the vat of molten steel, since it is unable to "self-terminate". Although John begs and eventually ordersthe Terminator to reconsider, it makes the decision to defy him, bids themfarewell and hugs a tearful John before it is lowered into the vat, giving a finalthumbs-up as it disappears into the vat. John and Sarah drive down a highwayand Sarah says in a voice over, “The unknown future rolls toward us. I face it forthe first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator, canlearn the value of human life, maybe we can, too." S:-Love all the little details with the T1000 during the fight. Morphing, silver shimmer when he crushes the T101s arm.-amazing fight choreography-Again, shotgun isn't loaded?! Why is Sarah just now loading it?-When The T1000 crushes T101 face, how awesome and real it looked.-John being a dumbass and falling for the T1000 impersonating his mom?-Sarah shoots T1000 to the edge and runs out. Why not run and drop kick him over the fucking edge?-T101 being more “human” “I need a vacation” and “Terminated”-The thumbs up and computer shut down… classic and a dad move.-Heartstring ending. Epic theme music. -For a “happy” ending, they forget Sarah is an escaped criminal, they blew up cyberdyne, sure they MAY HAVE saved the future (which, future movies show us they didn't) but they're still wanted criminals. Webpage: https://theguysreview.simplecast.com/EM: theguysreviewpod@gmail.comIG: @TheGuysReviewPodTwitter: @The_GuysReviewFB: https://facebook.com/TheGuysReviewPod/

In Star Trek gaming, we share with you which game developers are taking actions for a more equitable future. Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Question Is: CQ:  Who would be your choice to play a young Picard? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan James McAvoy Wants to be Picard If you could pick ANY actor to play young-Jean-Luc Picard, who would it be? David Tristan Birkin played a de-aged Picard in the TNG episode “Rascals” and Tom Hardy had a go at Picard’s dastardly clone in the forgettable “Star Trek: Nemesis”.  Corey Stoll from “House of Cards” has the look and David Tennent of “Dr. Who” has the accent. BUT - according to one Picard-hopeful, HE is the only choice. Who would that be?  Young-Professor X portrayer, James McAvoy! Sitting down virtually with Late Night host Jimmy Fallon, James McAvoy responded to the question of whether or not he would consider playing a young Picard and later painted a picture with his words regarding his scent - and Sir Patrick Stewart’s face. Have a look at the video below to see what we mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf1zYk8D8hc&start=179 “Lower Decks” Hypes for Release All aboard, the “Lower Decks” Hype-train is leaving the station! Star Trek’s first animated series in 46 years is set to debut on August 6th, and the folks at CBS want the world to know about it. Last week, we got our first look at the trailer for the series - which we talked about in episode 469 of Priority One - and this week, we get four new screenshots - and a new recurring character announcement! On July 15th, three of the four new photos were released through fan sites like Trekmovie and Trekcore, and feature our scrappy heroes at work and at play. The fourth screenshot came on July 20th, with the exclusive Deadline announcement that “Black Monday’s” Paul Scheer would play Lt. Commander Andy Billups, the chief engineer on the USS Cerritos. In the still, we see the chief engineer, a smiling middle-aged man with a mustache, poking away at an engineering console while speaking to Ensign Rutherford. In regards to Scheer, the actor-comedian isn’t new to voiceover work, having done voices for Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time” and Netflix’s decidedly-adult “Big Mouth”, as well as Fox’s Seth McFarlane helmed “American Dad” among others. Star Trek: Discovery at Virtual Trek Con The cancellation or postponement of conventions in 2020 due to Covid-19 is a thing, but it has started a bit of a movement - the Virtual Con. This week starting on July 15, Deep Space Nine Star and 7th Rule Podcast host Cirroc Lofton spearheaded the free Virtual Trek Con - a five day “convention” that hosted stars and crew from across the Star Trek multiverse. On Sunday July 19th, Moderator Ryan Husk sat down with stars of “Star Trek: Discovery”, and though no big spoilers were dished, we did get a few interesting nuggets for the dipping. Husk was joined by Doug Jones, as well as Linus’ David Benjamin Tomlinson, Siranna’s Hannah Spear, and Dr. Pollard’s Raven Dauda. In an exchange with David Tomlinson - who has played Klingons and Kelpians among others - Doug Jones revealed that everyone’s favorite Saurian will be back for season 3. In speaking about Linus’s eating habits, Tomlinson and Jones tease a little about Linus’s screen time. Hannah Spear, who plays Saru’s sister Siranna, MAY HAVE hinted that Siranna could return in another iteration of Star Trek - think Strange New Worlds or Section 31.  The panel is just under an hour, and really highlights the love all of the people involved with Discovery share for one another. You’ll also get some insight into how Siranna’s character was created, Tomlinson’s love of prosthetics, and how Raven Dauda would love to be the Chief Medical Officer of Discovery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kLwF1sHyKQ Trek Stars Outside of Trek It’s been a while since we’ve had some new Star Trek. We’re not complaining - really - but the final episode of Picard aired back in March and since then - nothing. Well this week saw a bunch of news cross our feed about Star Trek stars in other upcoming roles or mediums, so we figured we’d share them with you now so that you have them for, you know, the next five month drought. A new documentary featuring Nichelle Nichols’ role in NASA’s recruiting program - which focus on women and people of color - has struck a distribution deal with Shout! Studios. The film, titled “Woman in Motion”, will feature interviews with friends, colleagues, experts, and Star Trek stars. It’s expected to release in 2021. If you’re itching for something this moment, and are in the mood for a bit of a downer, HBO’s documentary Showbiz Kids is out now - with stories from Wesley Crusher himself, Wil Wheaton. According to HBO’s website description ”Showbiz Kids offers an unvarnished look at the high-risk, high-reward business of working as a child actor in the entertainment industry. Written and directed by former child actor Alex Winter (Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, The Panama Papers), the film chronicles the shared experiences of prominent former child stars and the personal and professional price of fame and failure on a child.” Looking for something a little lighter and don’t mind waiting about a week? The long-awaited “Unbelievable!!!!!” is set for it’s streaming release on August 1st. The Sci-Fi comedy sports a “Team America” style marionette, Snoop Dogg - and over FORTY Star Trek alumni! To go along with the release,  there will be events all day - we’ll post a link in the show notes if you want to trek them out. And finally, a little casting news, Star Trek’s Kelvin Spock - Zachary Quinto - has been cast in the Amazon Prime animated series “Invincible”. Based on the graphical novel of the same name, the story follows the son of Earth’s greatest Superhero. As the young man begins to manifest powers, he starts his own adventures, to varying degrees of success. Quinto will play a superhero named Robot, an ally to the protagonist Mark Grayson. “Invincible” is from the same author that wrote “The Walking Dead” graphic novels, and the series is set for release at the end of 2020. So there you have it. Bookmark our show notes so you don’t forget! Star Trek Gaming News by Shane Hoover and Thomas Reynolds Star Trek Timelines Event: “Sto’Vo’Kor Lost” “Who overcomes [b]y force, hath overcome but half his foe.” Of course, you’ve not experienced Milton until you’ve read the text in the original Klingon. Brush up on the classic literature of Qo’noS during Star Trek Timelines’ “Sto’Vo’Kor Lost” Skirmish Event, running from July 23rd through 27th. Dr. Edward La Forge joins the Timelines lineup as this event’s 5-star Ranked Reward crew, with high event bonuses coming from the new 5-star Mother L’Rell, new 4-star Groom Worf, and returning 4-star Q Junior as event crew. And what is a Skirmish Event without the armies of heaven to command: with the 2-star Klingon K’Vort Bird-of-Prey, 4-star U.S.S. Defiant, and the new 5-star IKS Negh’Var, the brazen throat of war shall never cease to roar. QAPLA’! The Continuing Mission, With Terms & Conditions By now Star Trek Timelines players have no doubt been confronted with Some Kind of In-Game Pop-up Anomaly, asking them to accept publisher Tilting Point’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. On July 17 Wicked Realms announced the switch from former owner Disruptor Beam’s terms, noting that players would have to accept the terms to continue playing. The post acknowledges recent concerns with the game’s Offer Wall feature, and a review of what advertising partner ironSource’s SDK collects when the game is launched on Android (remember, the Offer Wall is indefinitely gone from iOS). However, any offers you-the-player accept via the Offer Wall “will take place outside of the game and outside the control of Tilting Point or ironSource, and you may be requested to share additional information on a voluntary basis to the third party managing that offer, and such information will be subject to that third party’s privacy policy”. So, you know, not our circus, not our monkeys, caveat lusor, etc. etc. RETROTREK The world of Star Trek gaming is vast and varied. We want to spotlight some previously released Star Trek games. Whether to celebrate a classic, or make a new introduction, we’re slingshotting around the sun for our new regular segment, RetroTrek. And now, here’s Anthony with another board game about building your own crew deck. This week, we’re trekking out Star Trek Deck Building Game! We’ll look at the Original Series deck, the Next Generation deck, and still more Next Gen decks!

In speaking about Linus's eating habits, Tomlinson and Jones tease a little about Linus's screen time. Hannah Spear, who plays Saru's sister Siranna, MAY HAVE hinted that Siranna could return in another iteration of Star Trek - think Strange New Worlds or Section 31.  The panel is just under an hour, and really highlights the love all of the people involved with Discovery share for one another. You'll also get some insight into how Siranna's character was created, Tomlinson's love of prosthetics, and how Raven Dauda would love to be the Chief Medical Officer of Discovery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kLwF1sHyKQ Trek Stars Outside of Trek It's been a while since we've had some new Star Trek. We're not complaining - really - but the final episode of Picard aired back in March and since then - nothing. Well this week saw a bunch of news cross our feed about Star Trek stars in other upcoming roles or mediums, so we figured we'd share them with you now so that you have them for, you know, the next five month drought. A new documentary featuring Nichelle Nichols' role in NASA's recruiting program - which focus on women and people of color - has struck a distribution deal with Shout! Studios. The film, titled “Woman in Motion”, will feature interviews with friends, colleagues, experts, and Star Trek stars. It's expected to release in 2021. If you're itching for something this moment, and are in the mood for a bit of a downer, HBO's documentary Showbiz Kids is out now - with stories from Wesley Crusher himself, Wil Wheaton. According to HBO's website description ”Showbiz Kids offers an unvarnished look at the high-risk, high-reward business of working as a child actor in the entertainment industry. Written and directed by former child actor Alex Winter (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Panama Papers), the film chronicles the shared experiences of prominent former child stars and the personal and professional price of fame and failure on a child.” Looking for something a little lighter and don't mind waiting about a week? The long-awaited “Unbelievable!!!!!” is set for it's streaming release on August 1st. The Sci-Fi comedy sports a “Team America” style marionette, Snoop Dogg - and over FORTY Star Trek alumni! To go along with the release,  there will be events all day - we'll post a link in the show notes if you want to trek them out. And finally, a little casting news, Star Trek's Kelvin Spock - Zachary Quinto - has been cast in the Amazon Prime animated series “Invincible”. Based on the graphical novel of the same name, the story follows the son of Earth's greatest Superhero. Bookmark our show notes so you don't forget! Star Trek Gaming News by Shane Hoover and Thomas Reynolds Star Trek Timelines Event: “Sto'Vo'Kor Lost” “Who overcomes [b]y force, hath overcome but half his foe.” Of course, you've not experienced Milton until you've read the text in the original Klingon. Brush up on the classic literature of Qo'noS during Star Trek Timelines' “Sto'Vo'Kor Lost” Skirmish Event, running from July 23rd through 27th. Dr. Edward La Forge joins the Timelines lineup as this event's 5-star Ranked Reward crew, with high event bonuses coming from the new 5-star Mother L'Rell, new 4-star Groom Worf, and returning 4-star Q Junior as event crew. And what is a Skirmish Event without the armies of heaven to command: with the 2-star Klingon K'Vort Bird-of-Prey, 4-star U.S.S. Defiant, and the new 5-star IKS Negh'Var, the brazen throat of war shall never cease to roar. QAPLA'! The Continuing Mission, With Terms & Conditions By now Star Trek Timelines players have no doubt been confronted with Some Kind of In-Game Pop-up Anomaly, asking them to accept publisher Tilting Point's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. On July 17 Wicked Realms announced the switch from former owner Disruptor Beam's terms, noting that players would have to accept the terms to continue playing. The post acknowledges recent concerns with the game's Offer Wall feature, and a review of what advertising partner ironSource's SDK collects when the game is launched on Android (remember, the Offer Wall is indefinitely gone from iOS). However, any offers you-the-player accept via the Offer Wall “will take place outside of the game and outside the control of Tilting Point or ironSource, and you may be requested to share additional information on a voluntary basis to the third party managing that offer, and such information will be subject to that third party's privacy policy”. So, you know, not our circus, not our monkeys, caveat lusor, etc. etc. RETROTREK The world of Star Trek gaming is vast and varied. We want to spotlight some previously released Star Trek games. Whether to celebrate a classic, or make a new introduction, we're slingshotting around the sun for our new regular segment, RetroTrek. And now, here's Anthony with another board game about building your own crew deck. This week, we're trekking out Star Trek Deck Building Game! We'll look at the Original Series deck, the Next Generation deck, and still more Next Gen decks!

Two of the world’s most volatile heads of state—Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump—have moved in the span of a year from trading insults to trading fawning letters. Now, they're days away from the first meeting between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader. Between Kim's nuclear ambitions and Trump's political pressures, the stakes of this exchange couldn’t be higher. Are we headed toward the world’s most unlikely match? Or its worst diplomatic divorce?
