Many of us think that if we could just take a confidence pill that everything in our life would be different, because confidence impacts our courage to step into new and sometimes scary situations and to take risks that could make our lives better. And yet, we all have confidence. Sometimes that confidence is just in things, but what we mostly struggle with is confidence in our SELVES. The confidence to believe that regardless of the outcome we will figure it out and have our own backs and still love and appreciate ourselves. When we can learn to have confidence in us, then our lives become more of what we want them to be. Sometimes we go into a one-down space and spin in shame, other times we might go into a one-up space and justify our poor behavior by blaming others, both responses that harm our relationships. When we can, instead, approach our struggles from an ‘all people are equal' mentality, we have the capacity to offer ourselves grace for our humanity. Understanding that all people are humans who make mistakes, who are figuring it out, levels the playing field and gives us permission to offer ourselves and others grace for those human moments. All of us have people who don't like us, even if we are the most kind and Christlike person we know.  It's just part of our human experience. When we can learn to accept other people's agency to not like us, we can let go of self-defeating behaviors like people-pleasing, perfectionist tendencies, trying to buy their love with time, money, energy, or resources, or beating ourselves up for ‘not being enough.' The stronger our sense of self, the more we don't need other people liking us, or validating us, to feel valuable and of worth. It really is okay if other people don't like you. Relationships can be hard. If we have created a pprotective pattern over the years, we may find that we are in a pattern of leaning out emotionally in our marriage and not having the intimate connection that we inwardly crave. When we choose to be all-in, we take a risk in our relationship, but it is also the only way to open a door that makes emotional intimacy an option. There aren't any guarantees how your spouse will show up when you choose to lean in, but I promise, you will be a better person on the other side of you couraging up and being all in regardless of the outcome. God created us to be sexual beings. Through a lot of social conditioning in the 70s and 80s (and probably before, but I wasn't there), we got a lot of mixed messages about our sexuality as women, and one of them was not that as women we were created to be sexual and find a lot of pleasure and enjoyment there. From this conditioning, many of us struggle to be at peace with our sexuality and to engage in healthy and happy sexuality. When we have a strong sense of self, we are more fully capable of addressing these challenging conditioned thoughts and moving into a more whole version of ourselves that includes healthy sexuality.   Thanks for listening!  Want to learn more about this concept?  Check out these podcasts: 29 Validation 34 Self-Compassion 46 Choosing to Love Yourself 78 Playing Small 104 Cultivating Self-Love 105 Self-Love In Our Past, Present, and Future 106 Fierce Self-Love 113 Self-Acceptance 114 Confidence 137 Not Enough? How does our sense of self impact our spirituality, or our ability to connect with God? Significantly. When we have a strong sense of self we see ourselves as worthy of God's love, deserving of His mercy, and accepting of His grace.  When we have a struggling sense of self we don't beieve that God could love us and forgive us for our human frailties. Though God is always there with love and an outstretched hand, our feelings of worth and confidence will determine whether we are willing and able to reach out and accept what He is offering us. Our connection to God, our spirituality, is determined not by what God is offering, but by what we are willing to accept. This week we are continuing with our discussions about sense of self, and focusing on how it impacts our marriages.  It is really difficult, if not impossible, to have a strong, healthy, intimately connected marriage relationship if we don't have a strong sense of self.  When we have an underdeveloped sense of self, we lessen our capacity to really love and accept the other person and we severly limit our ability to do the repair work that is inevitable and so important to our marriage, two things that are vital for deep, intimate connection.  Let's dig a little deeper so we can clean some things up, shall we? Continuing on with our sense of self series, today we are applying it to dating. When we have a strong sense of self, we approach dating with courage, confidence, and conviction. We aren't afraid of saying 'no' or being rejected. That's not to say we love it when it happens, but it doesn't rock our world because we understand that people's preferences don't mean anything about us. A strong sense of self approaches dating from an abundance mindset, while a reflective sense of self approaches it from a scarcity mindset.  And a scarcity mindset will set us up for a struggling relationship, while an abundance mindset will more naturally steer clear of people who won't be a good fit, and we won't be willing to 'settle'.  A strong sense of self is the key to having a fun and successful dating in mid-life experience. I believe the term Self-Love gets tossed around too much and way too loosely for my taste.  At the core, what does it truly mean to love,  celebrate, and empower your Self? It takes a special kind of courage to chase your dream. What with all the limiting beliefs, clutching fear, notable uncertainty and debilitating doubt that comes with the crazy idea that the greatness that you seek is on the other end of your own audacious decision...that's a lot to wrestle with. Now, here's a kicker - what if your dream required you to face your own insecurities about yourself? What if your dream was pretty much guaranteed to put you in the direct line of fire as it would surely offend what your cultural upbringing would consider socially acceptable? What if your dream, quite literally, demanded that you shed the layers, and bare it all? These are just some of the incredible topics I had the privilege to discuss with my next guest. As a Muse, Nude Model, Poet, talented writer, and seasoned Entrepreneur, she provides engaging and thought-provoking insights expressed through her sensuality, erotic writing, ideas and visions. Topic:  Heart - Centered Consciousness    Anna Brown:  Ascension Guide, Heart Centered Teacher   Q:  Have you always had access to this wisdom?  What is your story of spiritual awakening?    A:   I would say my whole life has been an awakening  As I kid, I had paranormal visions - when I was young, my conditioning had me automatically going into fear  These awakenings led me to my larger awakening  About 5 years ago, I had a big awakening, which led me into exploring heart centered consciousness  It has been something that I have been deepening and embodying more over time    Q:  I can imagine that it was confusing for you in your conditioning when you were younger.  How did you move past this?    A:  I always had a little bit of a rebel side.  I was always questioning authority. I also had a side that wanted to serve God/the light but I didn't know what it was.  It was easy for me to shift away from it because I had always questioned it anyway.  It was about broadening my perspective and learning more    Q:  What do you mean by Ascension?  Are we here to ascend?    A:   If you're watching this video, you're here to ascend.   Ascension is playing “catch up” to the light that is you  You are embodying your soul, the Source as Self - It is a process  Your heart holds your blue-print  You're ascending your consciousness & your physical body to connect to something that already exists  Bridging Heaven + Earth    Q:  Why do we have this separateness in our world right now?    A:   Everyone is playing off each other to have what they need in order to ascend to their next level.  It's a play.  Source wants to experience itself in as many ways as possible  When more people have ascended, there will still be separateness + differences, but there is a deep respect and understanding that we're also all one/source    Q:  How do you see this ascension journey playing out? Do you see a lot of people that are awakening? Do you see it speeding up/expanding?    A:   I see it accelerating It means embodying the awareness  The more people that embody this vibration, it will create a tipping effect on the planet to awaken more people    Q:  Is it similar to how we can influence other people's energetic fields with our vibration?    A:  Yes, but people have to want to wake up, they have to have an intention to ascend  They have to have a desire to want to open up   Q:   So the intention and the openness is an essential part of the ascension process. When you're speaking to people early on in the ascension process, if they have a lot of lower vibrational energies, how can they transcend those?    A:   It's a very natural, organic process  We all have a dark night of the soul, realizing; getting intimate with our inner trauma and consciousness  Become the mom + dad to your heart that you never had  Become your own soul mate  Turn consciousness in on itself, love those parts of yourself that you're embarrassed about or ashamed of  Embrace the darkness, let it dissipate Transform darkness into light with the power of your own love    Q:  Embodying source energy, pure consciousness - is this all done by opening up your heart center?    A:  Yes.  It's DNA.   To activate your DNA, you need to create heart coherence  Body, mind, and heart in alignment  Embracing + practicing gratitude  Place your hand on your heart and train your consciousness Consciousness goes wherever there's a sensation  You have to have a clear intention - a vision of what you want in your world    Q:  Can you describe in more detail how we activate the DNA?  A:   When you live in stress, your DNA curls in and gets distorted When you go into coherence, it activates + unwinds  There is more than the 2 strands of DNA that we know and can see through a microscope  You can train your DNA to go into activation with higher vibrations  A healer may help you activate your DNA, but you have to practice keeping your vibe high, to hold the experience    Q:  There is a lot of distractions in our world.  How, in those moments of distraction, can we remember to come back to our heart?  What are some tips we can use in a busy modern world?    A:   If you don't have a morning practice, start one  Get present, set the tone with your subconscious for the day  Every morning when you start the day, set an intention  Tell your subconscious what to look for throughout the day.  It is a mindless servent. Understand that you're the master.    Q:  How much of that is an action oriented process? How much effort is required on our behalf?    A:   An intention is like your aim, what you're setting out for  If you set an intention that is new and different, your body will provide resistance & turbulence from your old self.  Your body will go back into the pattern of the old self. Think of it as detoxing out of your old self, your old consciousness  When you're old self comes in, notice it, see the old self-dialogue without judgement and go back to your intention  There's always an opportunity for gratitude   Q:  When we come up against obstacles, is that the process of facing the old self?   A:   Yes, you have to hold the frequency of the new you to walk into the new reality.  It's like every time you want to walk into a new paradigm, a new reality, you're met at the door by your old self Q:  Are external events something that we're attracting through our energy?    A:   You will attract evidence to confirm your beliefs.  You experience your reality based on your core beliefs.  This is how collectives benefit us - groups of people who share the same beliefs   Q:  Can you explain what's next?  What does the ascension process look like & feel like from your experience?    A:   For me it's unconditional love.  The more you're in your heart-center, it's almost like a dream state.  You're always in the moment of NOW  It becomes lighter, more vibrant As you embody more light, your world becomes brighter   Q:  As we're accessing these new dimensions, how does this effect manifestation?    A:   The more you're in your heart, you don't want to control the external.   You start to feel aligned with what's already here  Your personal will takes a back seat, and you start to desire what is best for the greater good.    When you're in the purity of your heart, you are supported by the whole universe because you're there for the greater good of all  Desires take a back seat when you're really here for the greater good.  What you really want is to know who you are  The Universe sees everyone as equal.  You can manifest from your mind/ego effectively, but you won't feel fulfilled until you're aligned with your heart and soul Visualization is a powerful tool.  You do use your mind… but your mind becomes a servant to the heart.  It's coming from a different place.    Q:  What are some tips to really prioritize heart-centered living and understand this ascension process?    A:   Start a meditation practice if you don't have one  Practice gratitude  Drop your awareness into your heart space.  Every time you breath into this space imagine it filling with light (Do this throughout your day)  Bring presence into your life - mindfulness  Start to notice when you're coming from stress and when you're coming from love  Notice when your field is closed, and when it's open Become aware of how you feel - How you feel is how you vibrate Slow down, nourish yourself with food & self-care  It all begins by practicing love, but first on your own heart    Q:  Are there any books you recommend?    A:   Becoming SuperNatural - Joe Dispenza        The Wayshower - Sondra Walter  Q:  Can you tell us more about how people can work with you?    A:   I meet everyone where they are in consciousness  DNA activation, heart coherence  Organic, intuitive, in a flow-state  It's all about opening the heart  Visit my website for more details LINKS:    Website: https://www.awayoflight.org/   Instagram: https://instagram.com/annaebrown7/   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/annabrown

We were drinking when we podded, forgive us if it goes astray. We recorded this a couple weeks ago during a game night so it's a little loose and a little time travel nonsense-y. Still, we've got Jacqueline Grunau, Emily Lowrance-Floyd, Matt Gaus, and Jay Maus packing the recording table and it is 1999 heavy.  The notes were unsurprisingly bad, but here’s the corners: Parenting Advice!
