Imagine Terminator if it were based on Christmas. Now imagine it being made with a much smaller budget. Now imagine it with an ever more forgettable cast. This is what you'd get. Harbor Freight "Sarah Conner" and her band of alt punk dipshits. :)

We are actually on location in Indy this week if everything goes well so we recorded this cast ahead of time. We only do it because we love you, well, you, Ripley, and Sarah Conner.
Send us a textOk, this episode was all Nate's idea, and honestly I was pretty happy with this pairing. The Terminator. For many, an absolute staple of modern horror, but does it hold up? Let's also talk about Arnold's first movie. Hercules, but he's getting a hawt dawg and a cawhfee. An insane difference in content, but not in entertainment value. The Summer of Action continues, and it feels like a steel mill outside. Hot enough to melt a liquid nitrogen-frozen T-1000! Oh, yeah, and it's also 40th anniversary of the first movie in this series. So, chill out, dic...oh, wait! I mean, chill out and relax while we discuss some James Cameron cyborg stuff.Overshadowed by its sequel, is there any reason to watch the original movie in this series? The Common Craig argues its merit as a slasher-style horror film with a science fiction coat of paint. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a seemingly unstoppable cyborg from the future, sent to the past to wipe out any Sarah Conner that gets in its sights. Grab your phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range, and join us for a 40th anniversary celebration of The Terminator (1984)!And then from there, with reportedly a nearly $100 million budget increase, can James Cameron deliver on the promise of a sequel to match the intensity of the original? Or will it be all Hollywood polish and little substance? Get ready to up the ante, with dueling Terminators, both trying to track down a 10-year-old John Conner, with the future of the human race potentially at stake! Beware of AI, or prepare yourself for Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)!

We review the latest (and hopefully last) attempt at a Terminator sequel. Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) brought back the original characters albeit about 15 years too late. It also introduced new players that failed to connect with audiences. In this episode, we suggest better movies including making Sarah Conner the central focus and a reboot/spinoff of the concept in a different time period.

Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape. Today on Buzzn The Tower, Skynet becomes self-aware as we try to prevent a dystopian post-apocalyptic future, by talking about the movie of all movies, The Terminator. Today's movie is The Terminator directed by James Cameron. We both love this movie. The strongest part of The Terminator is probably Sarah Conner's development from an average person into a hero. James Cameron's ability to create an epic film with limited resources is also extremely impressive. It just goes to show how far good storytelling and creative filmmaking can take you. This was the final movie of our AI/Cyborg/Artificial Life themed month. European Round of 16 recap! Real Madrid and Don Carlo are just an unbeatable combo for Liverpool *deep, deep sigh*. Jennifer Lawrence made some pretty controversial comments about women in action movies. Mainly - that she paved the way since no one had ever cast a woman as the lead in an action movie before. While she's factually incorrect, let's unpack the truth behind her statement! We get super into this, but in essence: while many action stars came before Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games (Sigourney Weaver, Sarah Conner, Charlie's Angels, Angelina Jolie... the list goes on and on), her role started a revolution. The Hunger Games was a masterpiece that started a whole new genre of women in dystopian action films, mainly geared towards a YA audience. So, while we totally acknowledge that her comments were factually inaccurate, they are also kind of true. Also, we just think Jennifer Lawrence is the BEST, please let celebrities make blunders, we don't need to drag everyone. Especially since she clarified her statement in a further interview. What did you think?
The hot, hot summer is rolling along with a film about a volcano that hurls lava, fire, acid, and bridges at a quiet Washington town called Dante's Peak. Luckily, James Bond and Sarah Conner are there to...witness it, I guess. Logan and Dustin witness this film while sampling two different flavors from Leinenkugel's Summer Variety Pack. Other things discussed are The Kids in the Hall, Minx, movies that scream summer, and some badassery on and around Mount St. Helens.

Do You Expect Us To Talk? returns (apologies about the wait folks) to continue the Terminator franchise with one of the biggest films of the 90's, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Following 10 years after the first film, the sequel finds Sarah Conner locked up in a mental hospital while her son (who looks in no way over the age of 10) John is riding around LA listening to Guns N' Roses. The T-800 returns, this time to protect John from the new advanced model, the T-1000. Will they manage to protect John, or can they even change the fate of the human race by defeating Skynet for good. Come with me if you want to live. (Long awkward silence) Alright, come with me if you want to listen to our Terminator 2: Judgement Day 30th anniversary special. There we go! James Cameron's sci-fi action classic was a phenomenon upon release and the majority of it still holds up today. The Office Hours crew nerd out discussing Arnold, Sarah Conner, the T-1000, and a child actor precautionary tale. There is no time machine or nostalgia blinded by memories of our youth. It's just three film fans watching an old dvd talking about all nine of Cameron's ex-wives. Spoiler alert: Gale Anne Hurd is our favorite. It's T2 time. Dun dun dun dun dun.

Immer wieder Mittwoch kommt Na Bravo raus. The future is not certain. The words of Sarah Conner ring repeatedly in the heads of all the believers out there. The Metal Forge is visiting with Andrew Macknight from Newcastle, England's own fantasy Sci-fi Skyryder. http://www.skyryder.bandcamp.com
Terminator 2: Judgment DayWritten, directed and produced by James CameronStarring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and Edward Furlong.Released July 3, 1991Budget: $98mBox office: $520.9mGross: $422.9mPlot:Intro: LA 2029 Humans battling the machines. Voiceover 3 billion lives lost on April 29, 1997 - Judgement day.S: all practical effects, no CGI-the music!-And then the Terminator coming through the flames at the end of the intro epic In 1995, John Connor is living in Los Angeles with his foster parents. Hismother, Sarah Connor, had been preparing him throughout his childhood for hisfuture role as the human resistance leader against Skynet, the artificialintelligence that will be given control of the United States' nuclear missiles andinitiate a nuclear holocaust on August 29, 1997, known thereafter as "JudgmentDay". However, Sarah was arrested and imprisoned at a mental hospital afterattempting to bomb a computer factory. In 2029, Skynet sends a newTerminator, designated as T-1000, back in time to kill John. The T-1000 is anadvanced prototype made out of liquid metal (referred to as "mimetic polyalloy")that gives it the ability to take on the shape and appearance of almost anything ittouches, and to transform its arms into blades and other shapes at will. TheT-1000 arrives, kills a policeman, and assumes his identity; he also uses thepolice computer to track down John. Meanwhile, the future John Connor hassent back a reprogrammed Model 101 Terminator to protect his younger self. S: T101 entrance badass, little spoiled by “Bad to the Bone”-T1000 intro very mincing. We also don't know what kind of Terminator he is, yet-Early 90's point: foster dad smoking inside. Weird.-John Conners friend is Danny Cooksey, who also played Bobby Budnick on Nickelodeon's show Salute Your Shorts from 91-93. The Terminator and the T-1000 converge on John in a shopping mall, and achase ensues after which John and the Terminator escape together on amotorcycle. Fearing that the T-1000 will kill Sarah in order to get to him, Johnorders the Terminator to help free her, after discovering that the Terminator mustfollow his orders. They encounter Sarah as she is escaping from the hospital, although she is initially reluctant to trust the Model 101. After the trio escapefrom the T-1000 in a police car, the Terminator informs John and Sarah aboutSkynet's history.[a] Sarah learns that the man most directly responsible forSkynet's creation is Miles Bennett Dyson, a Cyberdyne Systems engineerworking on a revolutionary new microprocessor that will form the basis forSkynet. S:-Sarah Conner is 29-Note when T1000 is questioning foster parents, dogs barking in background.-I like how both terminators are stalking/pursing John. We're not sure of their intention, yet.-brilliant how they used corporate coverup to eliminate any plot holes from the previous film.*MALL:*-The Afterburner video game (which was an awesome game) John is playing says “The End” as the terminators zero in.-when the terminator pulls the shotgun from the flowers why does he have to cock it? Why isn't it already loaded?-I love the sound design of the liquid metal terminator-The music, pacing, acting, and editing, make this first fight between the terminators perfect. Zero emotion.*CHASE:*-TOW TRUCK OFF THE BRIDGE!!-Is it normal for all the broken down/abandoned cars in the drainage things?-T101 doing the swing reload on the motorcycle = AWESOME.-How does a heavy tow truck bumping a 10-12 year old on a dirt bike not knock him over?!-Biggest complaint about the whole section: sometimes you can tell it's stunt actors.-Also, T1000 walking through flames = epic.GETTING AWAY:-followed by a LOT of exposition.-foster parents on phone, dogs barking again.-Sarah plays it REALLY smart when being questioned.-90's lingo: “Did you call MUWAH a dipshit?”SARAH ESCAPE:-I tried picking locks with paper clips bc of this movie. Never worked.-T1000 coming off the floor, awesome.-Guard has a full house, 2 aces and 3 diamonds.-Sound design, how the footsteps change when T1000 changes from guard to original form.*MENTAL HOSPITAL ESCAPE*-Iconic line: “I swear I will not kill anybody” then shoots the guard, “He'll live”-Sarah's fear seeing the T101 = excellent-T1000 going through the bars 10 years BEFORE The Rock and his CGI scorpion king in the Mummy Returns. James Cameron ahead of his time.-When did John get all the ammo?-like most sound design, but T1000 sounds like he's got a silencer, and shooting a shotgun and 45 in an elevator, they'd be deaf.-Lots of exposition, Dyson, sky net and cyberdyne. Sarah gathers weapons from an old friend and plans to flee with John to Mexico, but after having a nightmare about Judgment Day, she instead sets out to killDyson in order to prevent Judgment Day from occurring. Finding him at hishome, she wounds him but finds herself unable to kill him in front of his family.John and the Terminator arrive and inform Dyson of the future consequences ofhis work. They learn that much of his research has been reverse engineeredfrom the damaged CPU and the right arm of the previous Terminator whoattacked Sarah back in 1984. Convincing him that these items and his designsmust be destroyed, they break into the Cyberdyne building, retrieve the CPUand the arm, and set explosives to destroy Dyson's lab. The police arrive andDyson is fatally shot, but he rigs an improvised dead man's switch thatdetonates the explosives when he dies. The T-1000 relentlessly pursues thesurviving trio, eventually cornering them in a steel mill. S:MEXICO:-in the car, lots of exposition, 90's slang galore: no problemo, chill out dickwad.-Background and building Sarah Conner as more than helpless waitress from T1-Sarah realizes T101 is the best father John could have.-Sarah's dream sequence was amazing. All practical effects. So well done. (Movie Magic show)DYSON HOUSE:-Why couldn't she kill Dyson? No fate quote? Not taking the boys father away? She knows someone else will make skynet happen anyway?-lots more exposition.CYBERDYNE:-A child can use a backpack computer to “hack” a computer engineering company lock? Ok.-Why does the T1000 need a helmet?-T101 WITH A MINI GUN!!-Mp5, iconic 90's cop/bad guy gun.-T101 hallway walk, mixture of real and fake. (Movie magic show)CHASE:-Impressive helicopter pilot skills-Love this is all full sized, real vehicles, not CGI/green screen. All practical.-Awes9me progression of T1000 freezing and breaking.-Hasta la vista, baby. The T-1000 and Model 101 fight and the more advanced model seriouslydamages and shuts down the Model 101. However, unbeknownst to the T-1000,the Model 101 brings itself back online using an alternate power source. TheT-1000 nearly kills John and Sarah but the Model 101 takes it by surprise andblasts it into a crucible of molten steel with a grenade launcher, dissolving anddestroying it. John tosses the arm and CPU of the original Terminator into thevat as well. As Sarah expresses relief that the ordeal is over, the Terminatorexplains that to ensure that it is not used for reverse engineering it must itself bedestroyed too. It asks Sarah to assist in lowering it into the vat of molten steel, since it is unable to "self-terminate". Although John begs and eventually ordersthe Terminator to reconsider, it makes the decision to defy him, bids themfarewell and hugs a tearful John before it is lowered into the vat, giving a finalthumbs-up as it disappears into the vat. John and Sarah drive down a highwayand Sarah says in a voice over, “The unknown future rolls toward us. I face it forthe first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator, canlearn the value of human life, maybe we can, too." S:-Love all the little details with the T1000 during the fight. Morphing, silver shimmer when he crushes the T101s arm.-amazing fight choreography-Again, shotgun isn't loaded?! Why is Sarah just now loading it?-When The T1000 crushes T101 face, how awesome and real it looked.-John being a dumbass and falling for the T1000 impersonating his mom?-Sarah shoots T1000 to the edge and runs out. Why not run and drop kick him over the fucking edge?-T101 being more “human” “I need a vacation” and “Terminated”-The thumbs up and computer shut down… classic and a dad move.-Heartstring ending. Epic theme music. -For a “happy” ending, they forget Sarah is an escaped criminal, they blew up cyberdyne, sure they MAY HAVE saved the future (which, future movies show us they didn't) but they're still wanted criminals. "Terminator: Dark Fate" stars Linda Hamilton reprising her role as Sarah Conner, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, and Gabriel Luna and it was directed by Tim Miller. #TerminatorDarkFate Follow us: Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Spotify Stitcher Messy
In the movie Terminator 1, Arnold Schwarzenegger was a cyborg assassin sent back in time to kill Sarah Conner. However, in Terminator 2, he returns as a retooled robot sent back in time to save Sarah Conner from a new more advanced assassin on his way to kill her. Early in Terminator 2, as Schwarzenegger breaks into the facility where Conner is held, he knows the more advanced assassin is on the way. After freeing Connor from the security officers holding her, he reaches down to Conner and makes this statement: “Come with me if you want to live.'' At that moment, Sarah Conner has to answer the question, “Who is this guy?” The story of the movie is that she trusts him and he saves her life. In His time with His disciples, Jesus brought them to that point of decision. Like Sarah Conner, they had to answer the question: “Who is this guy?” Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:13-16 We might be confused about Jesus' identity. Many in Jesus' day thought He was a prophet. We might be confused as to why Jesus came. Like Sarah Conner, we might wonder if we can really trust Jesus. We might wonder if He'll save our life or ruin our life. Notice how Jesus answers Peter in verse 17. And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 16:17 Jesus tells Peter that he is “blessed” for realizing that Jesus is so much more than a prophet or teacher. Blessed means favored. Peter has favor with God because he realizes that Jesus is the Son of God. But Peter didn't reach this conclusion on his own, God the Father revealed this truth to him. So, who do you say that Jesus is? If you aren't sure, ask God the Father for insight into the fullness of Christ. Like the robot in Terminator 2, He is reaching out to you with this message: “Come with Me, if you want fullness of life.” Andy

Fighting ladies, female bad-ass characters… There are a lot more of them around now, but once upon a time they were pretty thin on the ground. I love a good badarse lady, my own comic character Pinky TA exemplifies that character type. There's something about a tough lady who can kick butt with the best of them that's especially compelling. They evolved from something a little more exploitative, ladies fighting in bikinis basically, then we had ladies that were just the female version of a male character (Batwoman, Supergirl etc), which is something we're starting to see a little more of unfortunately, but on the good side of things we ARE actually getting fighting ladies who're their OWN women: Original characters. In this Quackcast we talk about some of our faves and some of the earlier incarnations of the character type, from Robert E Howard's Red Sonya and Valeria, to Catherine L Moore's Jirel of Joiry, to Wonder woman, then later characters like Red Sonja (from the comics), She-Hulk, Sarah Conner, Ripley, Buffy, Xena, Aeon Flux… What are some of YOUR faves? Mine are Tank Girl, Lara Croft, Motoko Kusanagi, Garnet and many more :) This week Gunwallace has given us the theme to Dolphin Bros: Jump, jump, jump up and down to this mad dolphin party scene.
