Harvard scientists fell for table-flipping séances while 8-year-olds saw through million-dollar magic tricks. The revelation? Your organization's most intelligent people systematically miss the most obvious solutions and risks —and this expertise blind spot is limiting every "intelligent" system we build.Stacy Alan, licensed therapist turned mentalist, and Jason Alan, master magician, reveal a counterintuitive truth: highly educated professionals consistently overlook simple explanations that children spot immediately. Their unique lens—combining clinical psychology with perception science—exposes how expertise creates predictable blind spots that limit innovation and increase risk in interconnected systems.Paradigm Shifts:→ The Expertise Paradox: Smart professionals focus on complex explanations while missing obvious solutions—the same bias that blocks breakthrough innovation in "intelligent" systems→ Instant Reality Revision: False perceptions can be implanted in minutes through repetitive messaging—revealing how quickly teams can lock onto wrong assumptions in collaborative environments. Complex market environments carry the same risk.→ The Back Row Principle: If your least technical stakeholder can't navigate your system, you've lost everyone—a design law from magic that could revolutionize innovation adoption→ Group Think Acceleration: Individuals abandon correct perceptions to align with group consensus in seconds, preventing teams from recognizing simple risks and solutions hiding in plain sightEcosystem Impact:→ Traditional innovation focuses on technical complexity vs. elegant solutions that educated professionals systematically overlook→ Magic's core principle: audiences accept complex premises while missing obvious methods—identical to how expert teams can miss breakthrough opportunities→ The "smarty pants syndrome": engineers, doctors, executives overlook simple solutions that 8-year-olds spot immediately because expertise creates predictable blind spotsThe Innovation: Two-decade field testing of human perception vulnerabilities combined with clinical psychology expertise reveals how collective reality can be architected—or weaponized. Their framework distinguishes beneficial wonder (theater magic) from harmful manipulation (false psychics), providing ethical guardrails for reality-shaping technologies.Strategic Application: Any ecosystem involving expert stakeholders—from aerospace missions to financial systems to AI governance—can dramatically improve innovation outcomes by incorporating fresh perspective principles from performance psychology.Strategic Reframe: The most adaptive ecosystems will shift from asking "How do we leverage our experts' knowledge?" to understanding: "How do we architect systems that capture breakthrough insights and address hidden risks that our smartest stakeholders systematically miss?"#NASA #ShoshinWorks #EcosystemicFutures #InnovationBlindSpots #ExpertiseBias #BreakthroughThinking #SystemsInnovationGuests: The Alans - Stacy Alan and Jason Alan | www.TheAlansLive.comEpisode and Series Hosts:Vikram Shyam, Lead Futurist, NASA Glenn Research CenterDyan Finkhousen, Founder & CEO, Shoshin WorksEcosystemic Futures is provided by NASA Convergent Aeronautics Solutions Project in collaboration with Shoshin Works.

After a rocky relationship between Deep Cut and Mr. Pablo Larrain, we come back to the final film in Larrain's “important 20th century white women” trilogy (as Ben describes it). Will Larrain redeem himself with a portrait of the final days of Maria Callas' life? Or will he and Stephen Knight sh*t the bed again? Wilson praises Angelina Jolie's comeback performance, Ben praises how pretty the film is, and Eli praises the prop glasses, but is all that enough to get the film over the line? Listen to find out. Welcome to Liberty Baptist Church's Sunday Evening service and online broadcast! We're so glad you've joined us. We pray the message is a blessing and encouragement to you. Esther 5 is full of irony, strategy, emotion—and divine fingerprints. One person steps forward in surrender. Another spirals into pride. One risks her life to save others. The other plots a murder to protect his ego. This chapter presents a powerful contrast: one decision is bold, prayerful, and led by faith. The other is driven by pride, rage, and self-importance. One path leads to favor—the other, to a fatal fall. Give online: lbcsearcy.com/give Prayer request: lbcsearcy.com/pray Begin a relationship with Christ: lbcsearcy.com/heaven
BT and Sal engage in a heated debate regarding the New York Knicks' hiring of Mike Brown as head coach. BT champions Brown's resume, highlighting his past success with winning teams and his potential to elevate the Knicks' offense and utilize their star players, particularly Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, more effectively than his predecessor, Tom Thibodeau. Conversely, Sal expresses strong skepticism, viewing Brown as a "retread" whose previous successes were overly reliant on generational talents like LeBron James, questioning his ability to lead the Knicks to a championship given his past postseason shortcomings and perceived lack of sustained success outside of those situations. The conversation delves into contrasting coaching philosophies, player utilization, and the realistic championship aspirations for the Knicks under Brown's leadership.

In Podcast 95, Len and Dean delve into the critical flaws of the 2023 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rule, emphasizing its detrimental impact on banks and communities. Len highlights the rule's exclusion of crucial loan types like multifamily mortgages and open-end mortgages, arguing they are vital for community development. He criticizes the rule's overly complex performance rating system, which he claims is incomprehensible and undermines its intended purpose. Len urges bankers to actively support the rule's repeal, emphasizing the need for public education and constructive feedback to reshape regulatory policies effectively. Dean underscores the importance of understanding these flaws and advocating for regulatory changes that enhance rather than hinder the CRA's goals. Brought to you by GeoDataVision and M&M Consulting

Welcome to the second episode in a series called “The Failures of Old Earth Creationism.” Many Christians attempt to fit old earth ideology into their beliefs, adopting uniformitarian or evolutionary pieces into their worldview. While this is often done in an effort to appeal to science, it can cause major logical, scientific, and theological issues. The conversation surrounding human origins has always been an intriguing one. One of the most debated subjects is the nature of the beings labeled ‘hominids,’ particularly Neanderthals. Biblical Creationists firmly place Neanderthals in the ‘human’ category—descendants of Adam and Eve, thus bearing God’s image. Most evolutionary biologists today also agree with Neanderthals being mostly human, leaving their genetic mark on our DNA through interbreeding. Some old earth creationists suggest something quite different. They claim that Neanderthals were nothing more than animals—truly bipedal animals that are able to make and use tools, paint, and bury their dead—but animals nonetheless. Is there any truth to this idea? Were they just animals? Or were they fully human, bearing the image of God? In today’s episode, we’ll dig into “The Mystery of the Soulless Hominids,” ex... More...
