TEACHING SERIES: Preparing the Way TITLE: What is our Misson? BY: Tim Chilvers DATE: Sunday 27 April 2025 Bible Passage: Matthew 28:16-20 So we know Jesus as King. He has all the power and authority in the world and in our lives. We have seen the ways he has claimed the victory on our behalf—but now what? Turns out, we have a part to play as well. Jesus gives us a clear mission, one that requires faithful action and steadfast obedience. Will we accept it? We conclude the history of the Micheaux / Missick Connection as we flashback to October 2020 when, in the early days of the pandemic, the Men of Micheaux jumped on a Zoom-ish platform with actor-best friends Dorian Missick and Omar Dorsey to review Rudy Ray Moore's alter-ego Dolemite as another alter-ego, Petey Wheatstraw (1977).

In this episode with excerpts from ESPN Media Day 2024, I interview former and beloved Philadelphia Eagles player and current NFL analyst Jason Kelce, Sports Center host Elle Duncan, and NFL Live host Laura Rutledge. I recap my incredible experience at Media Day, explain how I got the invite to live out my dreams, and share how I've always wanted to be a sports broadcaster since I was young. In my conversation with Jason, we discuss how he was raised to be an emotionally available man, how he's feeling entering his first season of retirement, and what he'll miss most and won't miss about playing. He also shares his favorite characteristics about his wife, Kylie, and what he predicts for the Eagles in this upcoming season. In my conversation with Elle, we discuss how she came to sports broadcasting, how she brings her best self to work and perseveres in a male-dominated industry, and how she covers so many sports while making her voice stand out among the numbers. In my conversation with Laura, she shares how she juggles everything she does and chooses to embrace the chaos, and how she remembers all of those stats and data points. She also talks about how she's raising her daughter to be confident and self-assured, and how she makes her demanding schedule work by prioritizing intentional time with her kids.Key Takeaway / Points:On my childhood dream of wanting to be a sports broadcasterHow I got the invite to ESPN Media DayRecapping my Media Day experienceMy interview with JasonOn being raised as an emotionally available manOn the emotions around entering his first season of retirement, what he'll miss about playing, and what he won't missOn his wife, Kylie, and his favorite characteristics about herWhat he predicts for the upcoming Eagles seasonMy interview with Elle Duncan, Sports Center hostHow she came to sports broadcastingOn the most difficult part about working in a male-dominated industry, and how she brings her best self to workHow she prioritizes self careHow she covers so many sports and makes her voice stand out among the numbersMy interview with Laura Rutledge, host of NFL LiveOn juggling everything she does and embracing the chaosHow she remembers all of those stats and data pointsHow she's raising her daughter to be confident and self-assuredOn prioritizing intentional time with her kidsFollow Jason at @jason.kelce and listen to New Heights hereFollow Elle at @elleduncan and watch the Elle Duncan show here and listen hereFollow Laura at @lauramrutledge on Instagram & @laura_rutledge on TikTokThis episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Somewhere along the way, the church lost it's purpose. Jesus built the church so that his children would come together to care for each other, help the poor, and to go out and make disciples. It seems now, we see church as a “what did I get this week” instead of “how did we worship God this week.” What changed? Fundamentally, we moved from a discipleship movement to a consumer one. What if that can be redeemed? What if God is calling us out of church buildings and back with people…living on purpose to love people and share our hope in Jesus. All is not lost…Jesus is igniting a new movement among His church.

How do we connect with the millions of Muslims not just in other parts of the world, but with those who are now living in our neighborhoods, going to school with our children, and doing jobs alongside us? As a church, what should be our response to these neighbors?

In this episode, I am joined by Don Higgins to talk about several different topics that I have always thought about throughout my hunting career and where I am currently in my business. Don and I discussed many topics regarding leaving a hunting Legacy for the next generation, and how we can do that. How we can continue to be good stewards of God's creation we have been blessed to manage, and many other things to ensure we are keeping the focus on something that just might be more important than killing big bucks..
Michael shares Linda Brady's connection to “other beings” in her extraordinary life!
Bae Bloeser as a minister's daughter had seen her father help people all her life and went to several countries to help people. She dreamed of going to Africa when she was 10 years old. She got her to wish when she followed her husband to help eradicate smallpox in Nigeria during a civil war. She had two small children that went on the trip her son who was 5 years old and her daughter who was 10 months. She witnessed many atrocities and suffered traumas from soldiers going through her things with bayonets among other incidents. Then she went to Nueva Guinea which was under the rule of a horrible dictator who committed terrible atrocities. She stayed because her and her husband's mission to fight smallpox was so important. She has since written a book about her experience Vaccines & Bayonets: Fighting Smallpox in Africa amid Tribalism, Terror and the Cold War. She reminds us how is important to do what we can to help others. We all can use our skills, or time to help others in some way.
This weekly 30 minute program, sponsored by the Title Insurance and Trust Company of Los Angeles, attempted to recreate the spirit and times of the ranchos and vaqueros in Southern Califorina, when the way of life was considerably different. Although hewing to a strict story line, the show neverless also was able to supply considerable descriptive color to the manner of life in those days. For example, the listerner may learn of the customs by which the master of the house is waited upon by his wife at all meals and that she and the rest of the family may not partake until the head of the rancho has finished. The commercials, too, proceeded along similar lines, recollecting that in the period being dramatized there were but a few parcels of land and those were of tremendous size, owned by wealthy individuals. Now there are over 2,000,000 seperate parcels of land in Los Angeles County alone. The program was well written and the historical material adds nicely to the flavor.
