Thank you. It was so great having "The Couple From Galilee" aka Deborah and Noam Cohen on today. There was so much flowing from living inward fountains. Their message started out with the question, "Where are you at?" Meaning, the multitudes of the body of believers have drifted off into a deep sleep. Deborah and Noam express their deepest concern over the immediate, critical need for the people of God to start earnestly preparing spiritually. The direct key is in being completely honest before the Lord. Great distress is coming upon our nation and other nations where believers are. It will become so bad that it will demand and depend on being sharper than ever before. Noam interposes between the powerful words of Deborah. Taking key words and translates them into Hebrew. He reveals the true, breathtaking meanings of those words into new precipice views from mountain summits. It is so transforming and flows out with a kind of spiritual oppulence. Their strong, vivid expressions from what they are seeing in Israel as "eye witnesses" and their ministry is nothing else but a glorious, grand commission from Jesus Christ. They are like those "who search Jerusalem with candles" in the darkest nights of the commencing storms full of the beautiful, loving courage of the Lord. Thank you. Today I had the wonderful pleasure to have "The Couple From Galilee" on to discuss what is going in in Israel from a residential perspective. They discuss real and raw things that happened during the October 7th invasion. There is nothing like talking to people who are filled with the Holy Spirit and living in the very place where all prophecy is coming to pass. Deborah and Noam get out there every day among the Jewish people. They meet them in very natural ways, and find God-given opportunities to share their testimonies. It is so awesome to hear everything Deborah and Noam are doing in these final moments of Biblical Prophecy in Israel. Their stories are heart-melting, poignant, and deeply moving. Noam shares his very special gift of interpreting the Hebrew language in ways I have never known. It was such a powerful time and so full of the Presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. You will be filled with joy and find there is nothing to fear, and to confidently rest in "the everlasting arms." "I urge you a nearer communion with Christ, and a growing communion. There are curtains to be opened in Christ that we have never seen before... Therefore dig deep, and sweat, and labor. Take pains for Him, and set aside as much time as you can in each day for Him." ~Samuel Rutherford --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joanie-stahl/support

Lawyers get a thrill from a fight. And Noam Cohen and Hannah Genton, founding partners of transactional law firm CGL, are taking on a major opponent: cultural expectations that lawyers must burn themselves out in exchange for high salaries and big bonuses.CGL is a distributed law firm, meaning that its attorneys work wherever they want and on their own schedules. As long as they give clients exceptional service, they’re in charge of their own hours and where they spend them. For example, Hannah is a morning person who lives in Salt Lake City, while Noam is a night owl who just moved to Israel. The pair met at UC Berkeley Law, bonded over studying for the bar, and then survived careers in “BigLaw,” the collective nickname for the most prestigious law firms in the country.Noam and Hannah both came to resent the industry’s attitude towards attorneys. Huge salaries and big bonuses are based on minimum billable hours, which encourage lawyers to work as hard as possible, whether they’re actually being productive or not.“It's the golden handcuffs,” Noam says. “That's why it's really hard to leave BigLaw. Yet the burnout is so high. … It's very much ‘We'll solve this with money,’ and it doesn't work in the long run.”She and Hannah argue that allowing attorneys to work where and when they’ll be at their most productive leads to a higher quality service for clients. Plus, not spending money on a centralized office means CGL can offer competitive rates. And clients who don’t have to worry about high billable hours are more engaged. “Back at my BigLaw firm, clients would call me and ramble five things and then jump off the phone because they were so concerned with my billable rate,” Hannah says. “It was hard to get deep with certain clients because of that price point. At CGL, we’ve found ourselves becoming a strategic partner to clients, which is how I always envisioned a lawyer: as part of the team.”##Featured Entrepreneurs

The only solution, he says, is to fundamentally rethink the Internet."You look at Facebook and You Tube and Twitter today, and it's clear they're just oblivious to the harm they're causing," says Cohen.

Why do our digital assistants such as Alexa, Google Home, Siri and Cortana have "feminized" voices and what are the effects of this trend? That's what I explore in this episode. Are there negative effects of using female voices in the devices we talk to and who talk to us? Are there alternatives? Turns out there is an alternative - a "genderless" voice. What does that sound like? Tune in to find out as we explore gender roles, expectations and equality. I’d Blush If I Could (https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000367416.page=1) We tested bots like Siri and Alexa to see who would stand up to sexual harassment (https://qz.com/911681/we-tested-apples-siri-amazon-echos-alexa-microsofts-cortana-and-googles-google-home-to-see-which-personal-assistant-bots-stand-up-for-themselves-in-the-face-of-sexual-harassment/) Why Siri and Alexa Weren’t Built to Smack Down Harassment (https://www.wired.com/story/why-siri-and-alexa-werent-built-to-smack-down-harassment/) Hey Siri, stop perpetuating sexist stereotypes, UN says (https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/22/tech/alexa-siri-gender-bias-study-scli-intl/index.html) Is it time for Alexa and Siri to have a “MeToo moment”? (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/alexa-siri-other-artificial-intelligence-voice-assistants-gender-bias-unesco/) Female voice assistants fuel damaging gender stereotypes, says a UN study (https://www.technologyreview.com/f/613569/female-voice-assistants-fuel-damaging-gender-stereotypes-says-un-study/) My WIX site and online learning experience (https://www.explorelearning.online/) in which I re-create the experiment conducted by Loftus and Palmer on eyewitness testimony. The reason digital assistants acquiesce to harassment isn’t just sexism or gender inequality in the tech world, as disturbing and prevalent as those may be. No, the explanation lies elsewhere, I believe. These machines are meant to manipulate their users into staying connected to their devices, and that focus on manipulation must be laser-like. To clearly state that harassment toward digital assistants is unacceptable would mean having some standard, some line that can’t be crossed. And one line leads to another, and soon you’re distracted—the user is distracted—from selling/buying merchandise, collecting/sharing data, and allowing a device to become ensconced in their life. The moral standard most compatible with engagement is absolute freedom of expression, the standard of having no standards.  – Noam Cohen, “Why Siri and Alexa Weren’t Built to Smack Down Harassment”

Silicon Valley innovations have given rise to a class of tech titans wielding immense economic and political influence and has paved the way for a cultural shift towards individualism. Has this resulted in historically marginalized groups being left behind once again? Noam Cohen, a former New York Times technology columnist and author of The Know-It-Alls: The Rise of Silicon Valley as a Political Powerhouse and Social Wrecking Ball, argues that the disruption touted by Silicon Valley occurs at the expense of empathy, civility, and even democracy itself. The result? Everything from fake news to the growing divide between the haves and have-nots. Cohen joins technology critic Sara M. Watson and Northeastern University journalism professor Jeff Howe, who coined the term “crowdsourcing” in a 2006 Wired article, to discuss the ethical push and pull between the drive for innovation and preserving our own humanity and moral codes. Speakers: Noam Cohen covered the influence of the Internet on the larger culture for the New York Times, where he wrote the “Link by Link” column beginning in 2007. His first book, The Know-It-Alls: The Rise of Silicon Valley as a Political Powerhouse and Social Wrecking Ball, was published in October, 2017. Sara M. But you’re reading something that’s been put together from the minds and knowledge of all these people who are super passionate about that one subject. It’s cool. If I was handed a piece of paper off the street, ‘Here’s the whole summary of episode six of Glee, written by a 13-year-old,’ I’d be like, ‘Well, this is silly.’ But not having that handle next to it, it’s actually really well-crafted and really well put together.” -@trellar About Trella Rath Trella Rath has been a community manager for 6 years, with a more recent focus on social media. She got her start by managing various communities on the Wikia platform (think Glee Wiki, Lostpedia, WoWWiki). She moved over to the gaming industry for a stint and managed the North American community for World of Tanks, before then moving over to the advertising industry. There she took on the mantle of a well-known snack mascot, where she managed two communities for the agency’s Frito-Lay clients. In her free time, Trella enjoys exploring the Bay Area and attempting to train her pet parrotlet, Mochi. She is currently looking for her next gig!
