October ends on more of a suspenseful note than a horrific one but that may be enough to not want a phone to ring during viewing. On the latest in physical media, Peter Sobczynski joins Erik Childress to talk about the cultural horror elements of the latest Criterion release. There's also a snarky self-referential horror film that pre-dates Scream. Kino has a cornucopia of 1980s ninja goodness and Peter even has something positive to say about a comic book movie. On top of all that there is one of the best action films of the year, one of the best performances of Harrison Ford's career and another round of the master of suspense in 4K. 0:00 - Intro 1:18 - Criterion (Nanny) 9:14 - Ronin Flix (There's Nothing Out There) 15:41 - Kino (Enter the Ninja, American Ninja, American Ninja 2: The Confrontation, The Challenge) 31:25 - Universal (The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection Vol. 3) (4K) 59:16 - Arrow Films (Witness (4K)) 1:06:19 – Warner Bros. There's Nothing Out There", realizando alguns anos antes. Escreva para contato@cinematorio.com.br. linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This week, Trevor conducts a solo review of Rolfe Kanefsky's, There's Nothing Out There (1991)! A silly and boob-tacular horror-comedy, There's Nothing Out There (1991) is a fun little creature feature that is made infinitely more watchable (and memorable) due to the inclusion of Mike (Craig Peck), a self-aware, horror movie aficionado/audience proxy that is thankfully more entertaining than annoying. We had our fill of new movies this past week so we figured lets dive into some practically homemade films in the 80s! As you know Alex loves going back here often. This week we watch and review The Strangeness (1985) about a creature in a cave that eats people. When will people learn to leave caves and tentacles beasts in them alone?! Then we dive into THERES NOTHING OUT THERE! (1991) about a group of kids who visits a cabin in the summer and people start dying one by one to another creature? Maybe if they listened to their knowledgeable horror fan they brought. He seems to know what to do and not do in this situation. While writing a movie called “Dead Dicks”, Chris Bavota and Lee Paula Springer did not expect to touch the lives of so many people who have suffered or experienced loved ones suffering from mental illness and suicide. The director duo/married couple have warmly accepted all interpretations of their film and share the unconventional and insane venture of making "Dead Dicks" with the boys. In the intro, Clark is on sabbatical in the Magnolia State, so Russ leads a round table of former guests and favorites, Chuggy (Wondering Panda), Terrell (The Impostor) along with the long-awaited return of Justin Coote. They go over "There's Nothing Out There", the Troma film they just screened, along with Gaspar Noe’s “Climax”. Opening night of Another Hole in the Head film festival is December 1st! There's Nothing Out There is an amateurish 80's movie that nevertheless was, in some ways, ahead of its time. But there's a lot of heart here, and some genuinely fun and funny moments. Directed by a 20 year-old from a script he wrote as a teenager, this week's movie was fun to watch and discuss.

Kicking off 90's sucked month with a movie from the 90's that most definitely didn't suck and completely defeating the purpose of the entire 4 weeks worth of programing was a terrible idea. This week we're watching the super low budget There's Nothing Out There.

This week we welcome TJ back to the show and take a look at the meta-horror/comedy "There's Nothing Out There". Predating other self-aware, fan servicing horrors such as Scream and Cabin in the Woods, this movie follows a group of friends out for some vacation debauchery as3 cliche couples endure one annoying loser who's obsessed with horror movies and uses his knowledge to try to warn them of the impending doom that they are sure to face.
For our massive 100th episode we explored Meta-Horror with Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994), Scream (1996), and Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's Cabin in the Woods (2012). (Including material from our live Tweet with fans for New Nightmare.) We also shed a little light on perhaps the first Meta-Horror movie, Rolfe Kanefsky's There's Nothing Out There (1991). “Not in my Movie”: The 90s Slasher Cycle and Grrrl Power by Alexandra West Horror Film and Psycho Analysis; Freud's Worst Nightmare by Jonathan Crane Watch Copycat, the story of Rolfe Konefsky's There's Nothing Out There.
G’day everyone. Here we go again with a batch of new releases for your enjoyment.A great mix of genres as always from previous musicians who have graced our airways over the years, these include Robert Scott Thompson’s distinctive innovative electronics, SpiralDreams infectious sequencing, the symphonic score of Moeckesch, melodic melodies of Rudolf Heimann to name but a few. It’s a pleasure to welcome on board Psychonavigate records, Ireland's leading chill-out ambient and electronic music label, we are previewing two of their latest albums, definitely one to watch. Our blast from the past comes from Tim Blake’s first solo album in 1977, ‘Crystal Machine’, after his departure from Gong, he was noted for being the first live act to introduce laser lighting in the entertainment world.
