This one's a howler, folks! That's right, it's a serious “bad dad/werewolf dad” sitch as we delve into the first major horror title of 2025, WOLF MAN!! Frankly, that may be too many exclamation marks for this ruminative, domestic drama version of the lycanthrope we all know and love. We're officially “It's Fine” about it - and we will spend much of the show trying to figure out why. You've got Sudden Oatmeal Syndrome, some gentle parenting backlash, too-big spiders, deep woods carjacking, and dig into the only “conflict-free” werewolf drama we've ever watched. All this, plus we ask where all the guns went, wonder why Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan is so weirdly sexual, black light filters, and the triumphant return of Wolfen-Vision!! The gang's all here! Rick welcomes ZouZou Mansour, Travis Smith & Brianna Sig from Soraia to the show to discuss Robert Eggers' Nosferatu. We learn if the band saw the original or Werner Herzog's version before this new film, if anyone got the popcorn bucket, ZouZou's obsession with the film, Travis' improv skills, Brianna's hijinks & Count Orlock hanging dong! We also discuss the feminist angles of the movie, German expressionism, a majestic mustache, the plagiarism aspects, getting ZouZou to watch Jason Takes Manhattan, & how much was the films rat budget. Nammis! Följ oss på Instagram! What happens when the iconic Jason Voorhees leaves the eerie woods of Crystal Lake and hits the bustling streets of New York City? Join us on Screams & Streams as we uncover the wild ride that is "Friday the 13th, Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan." With only an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this film is bewilderingly beloved and reviled. Chad kicks things off with a plot summary that reveals how our favorite hockey-masked villain ends up stalking a ship of clueless high school grads before unleashing his terror on the Big Apple. We sip on Manhattans while chatting about why this film is both a guilty pleasure and a cinematic misstep.Through our lively conversation, Mike shares stories of his junior high fascination with Jason, while Sam questions if Manhattan took more from Jason than he did from it. We ponder the movie's place within the "Friday the 13th" series, debating whether its descent into silliness adds to or detracts from its charm. For horror aficionados and casual fans alike, this episode offers a humorous, nostalgic, and critical look at how "Jason Takes Manhattan" tried to redefine a franchise—and how it might have missed the mark. Grab your sinister sip and join us for a fun-filled analysis of this infamous chapter in horror history! Head to www.screamsandstreams.com for more information related to our episode.
It's #Fridaythe13th and weirdly enough T has never taken the opprotunity to review any of the films of the Hockey Masked Slasher on the Holiday, so it's time to remedy that with a look at not just T's favorite of the franchise, but one of his favorite #horror movies overall! Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan Mass murderer Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) is resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake. After he kills a passing boat's occupants, he stows away on a cruise ship filled with a high-school graduating class bound for New York City. Biology teacher Charles McCulloch (Peter Mark Richman) is on board with his niece, Rennie (Jensen Daggett), who has visions of Jason drowning as a child. They escape his bloody shipboard rampage, but, when Rennie and Charles reach Manhattan, Jason is close by.
Happy Friday the 13th folks. Grab some enchiladas and check out the latest episode.
It's part 1 of our ‘New York' series, and we take a slow boat to the Big Apple with “Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan”. A film in which a group of students get ripped off when they hire a “cruise ship”; New York City is a seething cesspool of crime and toxic waste; and Kane Hodder gets to pre-emptively leather the bloke who eventually nicked his job. “Jason Takes Manhattan” has our hockey-masked antihero bludgeneoning his way through yet another group of annoying teens; whilst also ticking off other touchstones of the “Friday…” franchise, such as an over-lit flashback and even a crazy harbinger. Despite this, the film somehow lacks something, maybe it's the fact that we take far too long to get to NYC, or that, by this point, we've seen it all once too often. However, like most good slasher films, as a party movie with friends and/or your recreational substance of choice, it's still a lot of daft fun. Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers and join us

This week on Thirsty for Gore, Aleks and Milenko take a ride on the SS Absurdity with Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan! Jason's out of the woods and on the streets of New York City—well, kind of. The brothers can't get enough of the wild premise, even though the movie mostly takes place on a boat. From toxic waste to rooftop boxing, this movie is full of insane moments that make it a guilty pleasure, even if it's one of the weaker entries in the series. Join the brothers as they dissect the campy chaos of Jason's city adventure and why, despite all its flaws, it's still weirdly entertaining.

Join us for the Spooky Season as we watch a Spooktacular sequel. Spooktacular as in, spooky to Friday the 13th fans. Today we're talking about Jason Goes to Hell, a movie that practically tramautized the fanbase and was seen as one of many films that basically killed the golden era of slasher movies. With its bizarre storyline involving bodyswapping, an utter lack of Jason, and a weird mythology, Jason Goes To Hell is almost unrecognizable as a F13 flick. So why would a couple of slasher fanboys defend it? Maybe it's because this is the last gasp of facemelting Practical FX. Maybe it's because it's a true video nasty compared to the corporatized Jason Takes Manhattan. Or maybe it's just because of one slick gentleman named Creighton Duke. Either way, hang with us as we talk about the misunderstood genius of Jason Goes to Hell.Website: https://thatbadmedia.com/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/33D4bKj...Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Twitter: https://x.com/ThatBadMediaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbadmedia...Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hearts-of-darkness-the-making-of-the-final-friday#/

In episode four of our Manhunt series, we explore two films that veer off the beaten path of their genre linenage. From Japan, Cure (1997), an atmospheric and fatalist horror film that helped launched J-Horror and the concept of elevated horror. From the United States, One False Move (1992), a raw and politically charged on-the-run film that still feels edgy and uncomfortable thirty years after its release.Special Guest: Good friend of the show, and our resident Japan expert, Harry BrammerEveryone loves a good villain, especially in a horror film. We might even root for them, see Jason Takes Manhattan. But every so often a horror antagonist comes along that we would like to forget. Mamiya is one of those bad guys. Cure plunges us into the existential dread of modern existence: dull grey concrete mixed with blinding fluorescence, devoid of all natural light and warmth. The film ties together a series of seemingly unrelated murders into one terrifying thread: a unknown force compelling ordinary people to commit unthinkable acts. Director Kiyoshi Kurosawa crafts an oppressive world out of everyday urban life. The conjuring of Mamiya seems so simple and casual until a shock of violence erupts. The film's realism anchors the fantasy to make it believable, and then Kurosawa has us in his hands. One False Move doesn't have good guys or bad guys. The film opens with unspeakable acts of violence and cruelty committed by our supposed protagonists. In this sense, the film is defiantly postmodern as it brackets out any notion of morality or propriety. Directed by Carl Franklin, it weaves a suspenseful and oddly poignant story of feckless fugitives on the run, crossing paths with a small-town sheriff who yearns for excitement. Here, the manhunt is not just a chase but an exploration of racial tension, broken dreams, and the suffocating weight of the past. The chase builds to a showdown that erupts with a flurry of gunfire, and the finale comes quick. But no answers are given, just lives squandered and lost.
It's our Final Friday the 13th film and we honestly could have chosen a little better, but hey, it's fun and it's takes Jason out of the lake setting for the first time. We hope you enjoy our conversation on Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason "Takes" Manhattan.
This week we're taking a boat ride to New York City with Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan. We discuss the absurdity of the film's plot, the mishandling of Jason in a city setting, and the film's questionable production choices. “You didn't get me in the lake…and you're not gonna get me now.” It's the second week of March and FRIDAY THE 13TH month continues on The Blind Rage Podcast! JASON TAKES MANHATTAN isn't exactly the most appropriate subtitle for the 8th installment of the franchise. But, as has been explained many times, the production wasn't given a large enough budget for director Rob Hedden to accomplish even a fraction of what'd been intended. Instead, what we get is an hour of stalk-and-slash aboard a yacht the size of Biosphere, lots of Vancouver alleys and street corners, and only a few glimpses of The Big Apple. On top of this, we're given a plot that makes very little sense, especially when it comes to the ultimate demise of our beloved villain. FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART VIII is far from a perfect film, but it's still head and shoulders above JASON X, a movie so bad it hurts my soul. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blindragepod/message
In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve tackle six of the recent releases; click the links to watch the trailers for each! We kick off with FREAKS VS THE REICH (Dazzler) - not the best film title, but boy, what a movie! Next is MONOLITH (Blue Finch Film) - a story about a journalist who investigates a strange phenomenon and discovers her past is tied to it. This is one of the best "Covid" films so go check it out! THE TROUBLES: A DUBLIN STORY (High Fliers) seeks to intertwine a crime narrative with terrorism in the 1980s - it has mixed results for sure... THE LIST (Miracle Media) is set in South America and sees a wealthy family the victim of a PURGE style event after the overthrow of the old regime. UNDERGROUND (Miracle Media) find a group of girls on a bachelorette weekend wander off into some disused tunnels... Finally, V/H/S/94 (acorn media) is the latest edition of the anthology series - will it be any better than the others? Our Short Shot is ASCENDANTS - this was shown at last year's @FSFFestival and is largely the work of Leroy Kincaid - check out the other films on his channel! Our DTV Throwback is FRIDAY 13th PART 8 - JASON TAKES MANHATTAN - this was the first of the franchise to go straight to video, and finds Jason Voorhees aboard a cruise ship, heading for the Big Apple... Your hosts Bryan, Matt, Joel and Ryan have a lot of work to do this week! They have to wrap up and rank everything about the Friday the 13th franchise! They rank the movies, the Jasons, the kills and so much more! This whole series has been so much fun and the wrap-up is a very fond farewell to the franchise. Bryan Dressel, Matt "Zombie Dog Fence Post" Dykes, Joel "Tree Trimming Saw" Dewitte, and Ryan "Uber Machete" Lootens take on the most recent Friday the 13th film, the remake from 2009. While this movie may have some "stupendous" moments here and there, it largely leaves the binge buddies rather disappointed. But they have a blast taking it apart!

It's a Twinning Double of Rob Hedden's Friday the 13th Part VIII Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) & Frank Oz's Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) Yes, this is Double is about a boat, but it's also making your dreams come true in the big city. Listen to Schlock & Awe on your favorite podcast app.
Your hosts Bryan Dressel, Matt "Zombie Dog His Bare Hands" Dykes, Joel "Ice Pick" Dewitte, and Ryan "Axe" Lootens tackle the hard questions this week.Masterpiece or Train Wreck?A love letter to the franchise or a middle finger to the legacy? Is this an intentional comedy or an accidental tragedy?Do the Binge Buddies actually get to the answers on any of these questions? Not really, but they have a ton of fun trying!!
Join your hosts Bryan Dressel, Matt "Zombie Dog - Joachim Kroll" Dykes, Joel "Guiles De Reyes" Dewitte, and Ryan "Lady Blue Bird" Lootens as they take on one of the oddest Jason movies out there. This movie has it all! Weird demon slugs that must be puked into people's mouths? Yup! Breaking fingers for payment? Yup! And everyone's favorite, excessive violence! Jason Goes to Hell is no one's favorite Jaons movie (for the most part) but the Binge Buddies have a blast breaking it down!
Your hosts Bryan Dressel, Matt "Zombie Dog-Andre Chicatilo" Dykes, Joel "Arthur Shawcross" Dewitte, and Ryan "David Berkowitz" Lootens do their absolute best to find the good stuff in this slog of an underfunded sequel. Yes this movie was amazing on paper, but due to budget and time it got stripped down into a frustratingly bland slasher. Not to worry, it does still have a few moments to shine and the Buddies have a great time breaking it all down!

This re-release is dedicated to buddy Tommy Kiczula who passed away a few days ago. He was the guest for this review and it was one of our favorite horror movies. Tom and my buddy Nick were over at my house in July for a viewing of Jason Takes Manhattan on my projector. RIP Tommy Kiczula In honor of having a Friday the 13th this month, we had to discuss one and we chose a non-Crystal Lake one, Jason Takes Manhattan....well sorta. Doug and Jamie invited guest Tom Kiczula, who was born on a Friday the 13th, to discuss this wild installment in the story of Jason Voorhees. They discussed how wet Jason was, his possible teleportation, most importantly...how does Jason bleed or drown, and so much more!
