Filming this videocast was a true honor because I had the pleasure of interviewing someone I respected and admire. Her organization helped me improve my health and vitality after a traumatic birth experience AND regain some sanity during the events of 2020 and beyond. Please meet Sally Fallon Morrell, founding president of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), an organization inspired by the work of a 20th century dentist and author who traveled the world for a decade studying traditional cultures and diets. She is the author of numerous books including my favorite, Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats, a farmer, activist and so much more. As a member of the foundation, I look forward to her quarterly WAPF journals and especially her “Caustic Commentary” section where she dishes up what she really thinks about current events and topics related to health; in other words, the straight talk I value.Today, the heart of her message is all about real, whole, traditionally sourced and prepared foods and supporting local farmers. This includes foods such as real raw milk (find it here near you!), organs, and meat with fat and skin intact as they all contain the animal fats that are “absolutely essential to our health.” WAPF both teaches the fundamentals of traditional eating as well as helps its members find nutrient-rich foods. (Spoiler alert — this is a more broad approach to eating which can include starchy carbs prepared properly, so in my opinion more realistic for the general population.)Many of the situations and conditions to which we've become accustomed to as the norm — chronic disease, jaws that don't fit our teeth, medication lists including injectables for weight loss, infertility, poor sleep, mental illness and issues around food, traditional baby formula, etc. are NOT AT ALL normal. I admire WAPF for boldly shining the light on these problems as well as proposing solutions, including cost effective approaches, that work, as well as combatting those who wish to silence them.Sally and I discuss that improved health happens one small change at a time — she offers two quick and easy tips to “make a huge difference in your health.” I sincerely hope you enjoy this episode, even if you find items or opinions with which you don't agree. Let me know what you think!FINE READ-Of course I offer Sally's excellent and information rich cook book, Nourishing Traditions. If you want a deep dive into Weston Price's work, his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration (first published in 1939) is a commitment that is worth it.FINE RECIPE-One of Sally's two easy tips for improving your health is to avoid store-bought dressings which contain inflammatory fats and often preservatives and not so natural “flavors.” The good news is that making your own dressing at home is both easy and inexpensive. Her cookbook has plenty of dressing recipes and below I share an edited version of the most basic:* add 1 tsp of Dijon mustard to a small bowl;* add 2 TB plus 1tsp of raw wine vinegar and mix;*add 1/2 cup EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) in a thin stream mixing well. The above makes a 3/4 cup serving. Her recipe recommends a little expeller pressed flax oil which I don't tend to have so I usually make it without it and add quality sea salt and any finely chopped fresh herbs I have. Voilà!FINE FIND-Baja Gold is one of the vendors I met at the October 2024 WAPF Wise Traditions Conference. They graciously offered me a generous sample of their mineral sea salt and WOWZA! I love this stuff.CONNECT-In closing, do you have a show idea or question? Send them my way to FavorFat-at-Gmail.com! In this episode, nutrition expert Sally Fallon Morell, who is also founding president of the Weston A. Price Foundation, educates us about what constitutes healthy food. The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) for two decades has been recognized as an independent source for accurate information on nutrition and health.   Topics covered in this interview: The freedom and liberty to tell the truth about nutrition, versus relying on government-funded studies and recommendations that include many unhealthy foods. The basis of good health, which is a nutrient-based diet that includes the fats and organ meats of grass-fed animals, and the importance of Vitamin K2 found in them. Raw whole milk and liver are also promoted. Encouraging people to use half of their food budget to purchase directly from farmers and artisans. The toxicity of many breakfast cereals, which are the number one revenue producer in the whole world (and have the highest profit margins). Healthy foods have a smaller profit margin, according to Sally. Procter & Gamble was originally a candle company before creating Crisco, which Sally claims is not healthy and lard is a better fat, as is butter.  Soy is “extremely toxic,” which is given to many prisoners.  Deficiencies in children's diets, many of whom are starving for much-needed fats. Challenging viral theory, and exploring 5G technology as a toxic contributor to COVID. Sally Fallon Morell is best known as the author of Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats (over 700,000 copies sold). She is the founding president of the Weston A. Price Foundation and editor of the Foundation's quarterly magazine.  She is also president and owner of NewTrends Publishing, serving as editor and publisher. She is the author of eight books, including Eat Fat Lose Fat, co-authored with Dr. Mary Enig; Nourishing Broth, co-authored with Kaayla T. In today’s show we talk with Sally Fallon Morell on Ancestral Traditions and how their principles can lead us to supreme health.   Sally Fallon Morell  is best known as the author of Nourishing Traditions®: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats. This well-researched, thought-provoking guide to traditional foods contains a startling message: animal fats and cholesterol are not villains but vital factors in the diet, necessary for normal growth, proper function of the brain and nervous system, protection from disease and optimum energy levels.   Sally’s lifelong interest in the subject of nutrition began in the early 1970s when she read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price. Called the “Charles Darwin of Nutrition,” Price traveled the world over studying healthy primitive populations and their diets. The unforgettable photographs contained in his book document the beautiful facial structure and superb physiques of isolated groups consuming only whole, natural foods.    Price noted that all of these diets contained a source of good quality animal fat, which provided numerous factors necessary for the full expression of our genetic potential and optimum health. Sally applied the principles of Dr. Price’s research to the feeding of her own children, and proved for herself that a diet rich in animal fats, and containing the protective factors in old-fashioned foodstuffs like cod liver oil, liver, raw milk, butter and eggs, make for sturdy cheerful children with a high immunity to illness.   Enquire now for 1:1 Coaching with Adam    Brian Sanders | Debunking Nutrition Myths And Becoming A Peak Human Mike The Heal Your Gut Guy | The Secrets To Fixing Your Digestion Which The Doctor Won’t Tell You Darryl Bosshardt | A Hidden Secret In Nutrition. Sally Fallon's Story Journalist, chef, nutrition researcher, homemaker and community activist, Sally Fallon Morell is the author of “Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats.” This well-researched, though-provoking guide to traditional foods contains a startling message: Animal fats and cholesterol are not villains but vital factors in the diet, necessary for normal growth, proper function of the brain and nervous system, protection from disease and optimum energy levels. Mrs. Fallon’s lifelong interest in the subject of nutrition began in the early 1970’s when she read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price. Called the “Charles Darwin of Nutrition,” Price traveled the world over studying healthy indigenous populations and their diets. Mrs. Fallon applied the principles of the Weston Price research to the feeding of her own children, and proved to herself that a diet rich in animal fats, and containing the protective factors in old fashioned foodstuffs like cod liver oil, liver and eggs, makes for sturdy, cheerful children with naturally straight teeth and a high immunity to illness. When the youngest of her four children became old enough to attend school full time, Mrs. Fallon applied her writing skills and training in French and Mediterranean cooking to the subject of nutrition and began work on a comprehensive cookbook that would combine accurate information on nutrition with delicious, practical recipes. She teamed with Mary Enig, Ph.D., an expert of world renown in the subject of lipids and human nutrition. First published in 1996, Nourishing Traditions has stimulated the public health and medical communities to take a new look at the importance of traditional foods and preparation techniques in human health, and to reexamine the many myths about saturated fats and cholesterol. The book places special emphasis on the feeding of babies and children, to ensure optimal development during their crucial growing years. Mrs. Fallon is the Founder of the Weston A Price Foundation for Wise Traditions in Food, Farming and the Healing Arts, a nonprofit nutrition education foundation based in Washington, DC, and editor of the Foundation’s quarterly magazine. (See www.WestonAPrice.org (http://www.westonaprice.org/)) She also founded A Campaign for Real Milk, dedicated to creating consumer awareness of the health benefits of clean, whole unpasteurized milk from grass-fed cows. (See www.realmilk.com (http://www.realmilk.com/)) During the past four years Mrs. Fallon has presented numerous lectures and seminars in Canada, the UK and Australia, as well as the United States. Most recently she was a keynote speaker for the Acres USA annual convention and an all-day seminar in San Francisco sponsored by Radiant Life. She has been a guest of numerous radio talk show hosts including Dr. Robert Atkins, Robert Crayhon, Leyna Berman and Derek McGinty. You'll Learn: Why Sally's co-authored book with Tom Cowan (The Contagion Myth) was instantly banned by Amazon Why Sally supports Terrain Theory over Germ Theory The value of animal fats in our diets Why Spanish Flu of 2018 had nothing to do with an infectious disease The value of eliminating exposure to electrical fields What 5G has to do with convid-19 Why we shouldn't ASSUME any coronaviruses are contagious... ...and much, much more. The Weston A. Price Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price's research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats. The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Today's broadcast features a lecture delivered by the president of the Foundation - Sally Fallon Morell. Sally was recorded in October 2008 by the E.F. Schumacher Society based in Massachusetts. Clean, white, wholesome milk, cream, cheeses, butter, yogurt and ice cream - very common ingredients within the diet of Canadians. Dairy was recently the centre of attention throughout the Canadian media, following a raid on a farm in Ontario where raw milk was being produced and sold. As the sale of raw milk is prohibited throughout Canada, this exposure reintroduces the controversy surrounding the standard pasteurization of milk products. Dairy products are a staple of the Canadian diet, but how much information are Canadians missing out on? As one of the most aggressive marketers within the agriculture/food industry, dairy receives a pretty positive image. But behind the production of milk are issues surrounding animal welfare, environmental impacts and consumer health. As this topic is so unexplored by the media, this will mark the first of a 2-part series on Dairy production in Canada. Join us as we explore the surprisingly un-chartered territory of dairy: raw milk vs. pasteurized, grass-fed vs. grain-fed, environmental impacts of dairy systems, organic dairy, animal welfare, and how the veal industry is a byproduct of your stick of butter. Guests Sally Fallon - President and Treasurer, Weston A. Price Foundation (Washington D.C.) - A nonprofit charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. The Campaign for Real Milk is a project of the Foundation, and promotes the production and consumption of pasture-raised raw milk products. Sally is a journalist, chef, nutrition researcher, homemaker, and community activist. She is the author of Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats (NewTrends). Dr. Alan Fredeen - Professor, Plant and Animal Science, Nova Scotia Agricultural College (Truro, NS) - Comprising NSAC's Department of Plant and Animal Sciences is the Atlantic Pasture Research Group. The APRG is an informal association of scientists in the Atlantic region with an interest in research on grazing animals and pastures. Among Dr. Fredeen's areas of interest, is the environmental comparisons of pasture-raised dairy versus the more conventional confined systems. Ric Llewellyn - Jerseyland Organics (Grand Forks, BC) - A family owned and operated dairy. Ric & Vickie Llewellyn settled there in 1985 with their herd of pure bred Jersey cattle that now number 95(+) head. In 1994 Jerseyland Cheese began commercial production after completing its transition to "Certified Organic" status. Thus making Jerseyland B.C.'s & Western Canada's first "organic" dairy and Western Canada's first producer of organic cheeses and yogurts.
