From Capitol Hill ahead of President Trump's State of the Union, Chris Stigall interviews 23-year-old YouTube sensation Nick Shirley, whose viral videos on alleged massive fraud in Minneapolis (including Somali-run daycares and autism programs) have sparked investigations and worldwide attention. Nick shares his journey from church mission trips and self-funded content to confronting threats, facing security needs, and shaking hands with Trump at the White House. He discusses youth frustrations with affordability, college debt, Epstein file delays, and his faith-driven motivation to expose corruption in immigration, fentanyl, and welfare fraud. The next morning at the White House, Chris talks with CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz about lowering prescription drug prices via TrumpRx.gov (now offering deals on dozens of meds at global lows), flipping the food pyramid for healthier eating, cracking down on fraud in Medicaid/Medicare (including Minnesota scandals), glyphosate concerns with regenerative farming investments, and using AI to combat waste while empowering patients.A timely look at digital influence, health policy, and accountability.00:00:00 - Introduction00:00:25 - Nick Shirley Interview Setup00:00:44 - Nick's Rise and Viral Fame00:01:30 - Pre-Fraud Work and Global Reporting00:03:01 - Trump Encounter and White House Briefing00:03:29 - Youth Views on Trump and Epstein Files00:05:29 - Self-Funding and Independence00:06:29 - Faith and Drive to Expose Issues00:07:14 - Immigration's Impact on Housing00:08:07 - Young People's Frustrations00:08:49 - Threats and Security00:11:05 - Dr. Oz at White House00:11:51 - Food Pyramid and Healthy Eating Push00:13:51 - Glyphosate and Farming Concerns00:18:31 - Fraud Crackdown in Medicaid/Medicare00:21:25 - AI in Health Care and Patient Tools00:24:03 - TrumpRx Drug Price Wins00:25:30 - Faith and Freedom 250Follow The Lion on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube. The Trump Administration's rolled out a new, inverted food pyramid that places a stronger emphasis on dairy, red meats and foods higher in fat, while whole grains are at the narrow bottom. This follows HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s mission to "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA), aimed at addressing chronic disease, childhood illnesses and ultra processed foods. The FDA is using the catch-phrase "eat real food" for the campaign they say will ultimately save families money. FOX's Jared Halpern speaks with Kyle Diamantas, the Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods and head of the agency's Human Foods Program, overseeing all FDA nutrition and food safety, who says embracing the new nutritional guidelines will save your family money, and improve your health. You may have heard that there is a new food pyramid in town. In January of this year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released an updated version of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The 10-page document is a major change from the one published five years ago. The new emphasis is on boosting protein and healthy fats, like eggs, seafood, red meat, dairy, beans and nuts. It still wants us to load up on veggies and fruit and to choose whole grains. Pasta, white breads and other carbohydrates are further diminished on this pyramid in favor of more whole foods and fewer processed foods. Saturated fat, villainized in previous pyramids, has been resurrected in this one. To discuss the shifts is Gary Taubes, an accomplished science writer who has written books, including “Good Calories: Bad Calories”, “Why We Get Fat” and “The Case Against Sugar.” He knows his stuff as you can tell early on in this discussion.

Nutrition guidance evolves as science evolves, and that can feel overwhelming for parents who are simply trying to feed their kids well. In this episode, we unpack the recent changes to the federal food pyramid and explain what these tools are really meant to do.
Despite the fact that she's in the middle of calving season herself, DTN's Senior Livestock Editor Jennifer Carrico has been simultaneously staying on top of an avalanche of stories affecting U.S. cattle markets here in 2026. Today, she joins us with an update on all the latest, from cattle health to consumer demand and weather. We kick off the conversation with news on ongoing efforts to prevent the New World Screwworm from re-entering the U.S. This pesky pest hasn't been a problem for producers since the 1960s, but with a specimen found just miles from the U.S. border, USDA officials are beefing up prevention efforts with new facilities, and ranchers along the border remain on edge. We'll also talk about the growing pressure of a tick-borne disease in the U.S. herd, and hear about how to identify symptoms that are often mis-diagnosed. Then we'll switch gears to hear about a recent Cargill plant closure, and the USDA's newly announced “beef on top” food pyramid, and what kinds of impacts both of these events might have on cattle markets. We'll also hear about the potential impacts of the recent winter storms, especially on more southern cattle producers, and get introduced to the 2026 View from the Range ranchers from Montana and Alberta, Canada. Finally, we'll hear what Jenn is going to be watching as the season continues– especially evolving drought and wildfire conditions. The Maudes and the U.S. Forest Service: How a Fenceline Dispute Almost Tore a Family Apart
Most people think nutrition is only about calories and macros.Protein, carbs, fats. Numbers in an app. That's only part of the story.Food is also a delivery system. How it's packaged. How it's stored. How it's heated. And how often that happens … day after day, for decades.Ignore that layer long enough and the system pays the price. This week's YouTube coaching deep-dive breaks down in detail what the new US food guidlines said about plastic food containers and your free testosterone level. ▶️ Rad and I created a comprehensive video for you this week where we explain why metabolic health erodes slowly, what the new US Food Guidelines (and food pyramid) finally got right, and how this mirrors the way smart training actually works.

Picture two plates. One has leafy greens, colorful vegetables, berries, salmon, whole grains, olive oil, and water. The other has a big steak, butter, and whole milk. Both reflect official government dietary recommendations. But here's the twist: one plate represents what Canada, Sweden, Germany, China, the Netherlands, and India all basically agree on. The other comes from just one country—a country that looked at the same nutrition science and went in a completely different direction.Which country? And why?In Part 3 of our Dietary Guidelines series, Amy takes you on a global tour to uncover why the new U.S. food pyramid is a stark outlier from international consensus. She reveals what happened to the 400-page scientific report from 20 independent researchers—and why industry groups are celebrating while scientists are raising concerns. You'll discover:Why the food pyramid was retired 15 years ago—and why it's suddenly backWhat Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and other European countries actually recommendWhy China and India's guidelines look nothing like the new U.S. pyramidHow Canada created a science-based guide that aligns with the MIND diet for brain healthThe specific foods that can reduce Alzheimer's risk by up to 53%Plus, Amy shares her free printable MIND Diet wallet card and gives you three actionable steps to put this episode into practice. If you've been confused by the new dietary guidelines, this episode will give you clarity—and a clear path forward for your brain health.

In this episode of Food for Thought Leadership, Rebecca Fryer sits down with William Grand, founder and CEO of NutriFusion, to examine the growing health crisis tied to ultra-processed foods—and what it will take to fix it. Grand shares striking data on American eating habits, including the overwhelming reliance on ultra-processed products and the widespread deficiency in fruit and vegetable consumption. He argues that while consumer education is essential, meaningful progress may ultimately require federal legislation, clearer front-of-pack labeling, and even policy tools like sugar taxes to shift behavior at scale. The conversation also explores the evolving food pyramid, the global differences in food systems, and the role manufacturers can play in reformulating everyday staples. Grand explains how NutriFusion works with brands across categories—from snack bars to mac and cheese—to restore nutrients lost in modern processing without compromising taste or texture. Looking ahead, he outlines a vision for a more transparent, nutrient-dense food system—one where better formulation, smarter policy, and informed consumers work together to improve public health outcomes. More About William Grand: Bill Grand has over 40 years' experience in corporate management, sales and marketing. Areas of expertise include food retail, distribution, product development, logistics and administration. Formerly President of Mackay Specialties, a manufacturing business providing health and beauty products to retail customers in Canada and the US.
For decades, protein was treated like a bonus.Optional.Something you only worried about if you were a bodybuilder. Most people were told 0.8 grams per kilo was “enough.”And they assumed that meant optimal. It never did. This week's YouTube coaching deep-dive breaks down in detail what the protein updates mean for you!▶️ Rad and I created a comprehensive video for you this week where we explain why metabolic health erodes slowly, what the new US Food Guidelines (and food pyramid) finally got right, and how this mirrors the way smart training actually works.

The US Dept of Agriculture's new dietary guidelines surprised the public when they revealed a completely flipped food pyramid. Meat, eggs, and butter appear to be back! But what difference will this make in our dietary habits? Can the guidelines weaken the appeal of ultra-processed foods? And what does the fine print in the guidelines reveal? John Klar, the author of Small Farm Republic and MAHA advocate, goes over the implications of this historic announcement and the alliance between the USDA and Health and Human Services agencies. He discusses the pluses and the minuses of the new pyramid, whether raw milk will ever be legalized on a federal level, and why millennials and Gen Zers' food choices are giving him hope for the future. What if the food pyramid wasn't a mistake… but a strategy? In this episode, Dr. Richard Jacoby breaks down what he believes is Big Sugar's biggest lie—how nutrition guidelines pushed carbs and sugar as the foundation of the “healthy diet,” and why the fallout shows up as chronic disease, metabolic dysfunction, and a population that's sicker (and more dependent) than ever.We cover:• Why the food pyramid never made sense from day one• How incentives, lobbying, and “funded science” shape nutrition advice• The hidden link between sugar, nerve compression, inflammation, and metabolism• What gets suppressed vs promoted—and why• How to think clearly in a world where everyone is selling somethingIf you're an entrepreneur, creator, or high performer: your health is leverage. This conversation will change how you look at “official” health guidance.
In this episode, Eric Hörst and nutrition science graduate student Jonathan Hörst discuss the newly updated U.S. dietary guidance and the concept of a "flipped" or re-prioritized food pyramid that emphasizes nutrient density, whole foods, and protein—rather than carbohydrate-heavy intake patterns of past guidelines. Drawing from current nutrition science and academic discussion at the University of Utah, they explore both the strengths of the update and the practical challenges of applying it. Key takeaways for climbers and athletes include prioritizing adequate protein, limiting ultra-processed foods, choosing whole-food carbohydrate sources, and matching carbohydrate intake to activity level. The episode concludes by emphasizing individualized nutrition, performance context, and consistency over perfection. Jonathan also provides some breakfast and dinner tips for climbers looking to optimize energy availability, performance, and recovery. Send us a textDid the original Food Pyramid quietly help create America's modern health crisis? In this eye-opening episode of the Strong by Design Podcast, Coach Chris Wilson sits down with nutrition and weight-loss expert William Grazione (The Educated Dieter) to unpack one of the most controversial topics in modern nutrition history — the 1992 Food Pyramid and its long-term consequences. This isn't political spin or diet culture noise. It's a fact-based, no-nonsense discussion about how government nutrition guidance, ultra-processed foods, and profit-driven food systems collided — and why obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disease exploded in the decades that followed. You'll learn how ultra-processed foods became “normal,” why cereal and refined carbs sabotage blood sugar, and why most dieting strategies fail people long-term. Have you noticed that our food pyramid looks a little different? With the FDA's 2026 release of the updated food pyramid and dietary guidelines, Jenn is here to unpack why these changes matter and what they might mean for your health and your plate. In this episode, host and health coach, Jenn Trepeck breaks down the controversial new dietary guidelines released by the FDA in 2026. From the seemingly dramatic increase in protein and dairy intake recommendations to her concerns about food quantity versus quality, what do these changes mean for us on an individual level or for our families? Jenn also discusses the massive implications for millions of Americans that rely on federal nutrition programs such as school lunch programs, SNAP benefits, the WIC program, and military meals. With the slogan “Make America Healthy Again” Jenn breaks down the resources to discern whether these new guidelines are based on evidence-based research or meat and dairy industry influence. Remember, nutrition is nuanced and individualized, there is not a “one-size-fits-all” dietary plan. What You Will Learn in This Episode:✅ Why the new dietary guidelines impact millions of Americans through federal nutrition programs, including the school lunch program, SNAP benefits, and the WIC program, and how these changes will affect meal planning for the most vulnerable populations✅ The controversial shift in protein recommendations from 0.8 to 1.2 to 1.6 grams per kilogram, and why this increase raises questions about evidence-based nutrition versus food industry influence✅ The critical difference between public health recommendations and individual health needs, and why understanding this distinction is essential for making informed nutrition education decisions✅ How the removal of the health equity lens and emphasis on red meat consumption without addressing food quality concerns demonstrates the challenge of creating truly comprehensive nutrition standardsThe Salad With a Side of Fries podcast, hosted by Jenn Trepeck, explores real-life wellness and weight-loss topics, debunking myths, misinformation, and flawed science surrounding nutrition and the food industry. PRE-ORDER the upcoming book now: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/the-bookThe new Food Pyramid is released in the United States, turning the old one on its point. Regardless of how you feel about the administration it is released under, the focus has shifted from carbs and demonizing fats to centering protein, vegetables, nuts, beans and healthy fats. Camille reminds us that it is a guideline, not a hard and fast rule, because diverse bodies have diverse needs. And, she reminds us, science is always evolving, and should be questioned, so this will not be the last food pyramid. Luis is excited about the shift because so many illnesses, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, anxiety and cognitive decline can be traced to excess glucose, a byproduct of all those refined cards we were told to eat in the old mythology (funded by cigarette companies). All those ultra processed foods leave us with less macro-nutrients, therefore less nourished, and with less GLP1 in the body telling us when are a satiated. At first glance eating a balanced whole foods diet might seem more expensive, but considering long term health consequences and quality of life impacts, the balanced approach is economical. Gleefully, beans hold rank in the new pyramid. Luis and Camille indulge some excitement over this point. They also discuss grass-fed versus mass produced meat, what they think of the inclusion of dairy, and the proportions that are recommended. Dive in to geek out with Luis and Camille as they explore this new dietary recommendation. Welcome to a breakthrough episode of the NASM CPT Podcast! This week, host Rick Richey sits down with Dr. Brad Dieter—exercise physiologist, molecular biologist, and nutrition science expert—to break down the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans projected for 2025-2030.
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy recently unveiled a new food pyramid and dietary guidelines for Americans that emphasize high-quality protein, dairy, healthy fats, vegetables, and fruits. Whole grains are downgraded, and processed foods and added sugars are discouraged.“We've been consuming this ultra-processed food, which I call human pet food,” says Dr. Shawn Baker. A former orthopedic surgeon and world champion athlete, he's the author of “The Carnivore Diet” and co-founder of the online clinic Revero.“A lot of our food has become very similar to recreational drugs in the way we use and abuse them,” he says.Eating a lot of addictive, ultra-processed food—high in carbs, sugars, and seed oils—drives inflammation and can lead to obesity, diabetes, arthritis, cardiovascular problems, gut malfunction, depression, and cancers, he explains. In our in-depth interview, he explains how and why the adoption of low-carb, high-fat diets reduces inflammation and can even reverse chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiometabolic disease. There is even significant evidence that such diets can be used therapeutically for neurological and mental health issues, he says. One of those low-carb, high-fat diets is the ketogenic diet. But what happens when you take keto one step further and go on the carnivore diet?“Carnivore is basically a diet consisting primarily of animal products. So it would be meat. It would be fish. It would be eggs. It would be dairy products,” he says. This means no plant products at all.The carnivore diet is not for everyone, but many people suffering from debilitating autoimmune diseases have healed themselves with such a diet, he says. Mikhaila Peterson has famously documented her transformative experience on an even more restricted version of this diet called the “lion diet.”In our in-depth interview, we discuss many more questions regarding food as medicine and the benefits of a protein-heavy diet, including:- Why people on ketogenic or carnivore diets experience something called ‘keto calm' or ‘zero carb zen.'- Why going on the carnivore diet does not harm your nutritional intake, contrary to what many may think.- Why such diets can help reverse inflammatory bowel disease, Tourette syndrome, and hypermobility, also known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It's time for Americans to stop simply relying on America's “disease management system” of drugs and pharmaceuticals, he argues, and instead take their health into their own hands.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
Beef is back on top. Well, at least on top of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s new food pyramid, unveiled alongside updated national dietary guidelines. Have you seen the newly released 2026 USDA Dietary Guidelines and wondered if this is an improvement over the previous food pyramid? On today's episode, I break down what the updated food pyramid gets right, where it falls short, and why even well-intentioned guidelines can still be misleading if taken at face value. We'll explore how the new recommendations improve upon past versions by emphasizing whole, minimally processed foods and more realistic protein needs, while also highlighting ongoing issues with confusing visuals, contradictory messaging around fats and dairy, and an underemphasis on fruits, vegetables, and fiber. I'll also explain why no government guideline can replace personalized nutrition, and how using individual data, lifestyle context, and metabolic health markers is essential for creating sustainable results.
