I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 27th of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Proverbs 14:23:“In all labour there is profit,…” Then we go to Mark 6:3: “Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary,...?” Yes, Jesus was a carpenter. He was a blue-collar worker. By the way, my late dad was a blacksmith, and my grandfather was a master blacksmith - working men, hard-working men as Jesus was. They say maybe He was more of a stone mason than a carpenter, because in those days there were not a lot of trees around the area of Nazareth, and they used a lot of stone to build their houses.I want to talk to you about Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He wrote a poem in 1842 called “The Village Blacksmith”, and this poem is all about honesty, satisfaction, and hard work. If ever we needed to work hard, it is now. It is a beautiful poem, and for the young people listening to this, please listen carefully. This is how it goes:Under a spreading chestnut-treeThe village smithy stands; The smith, a mighty man is he,With large and sinewy hands; And the muscles of his brawny armsAre strong as iron bands. His hair is crisp, and black, and long,His face is like the tan;His brow is wet with honest sweat,He earns whate'er he can,And looks the whole world in the faceFor he owes not any man.Week in, week out, from morn to night,You can hear his bellows blow; You can hear him swing his heavy sledge,With measured beat and slow,Like a sextonringing the village bell,When the evening sun is low.And children coming home from school Look in at the open door; They love to see the flaming forgeAnd hear the bellows roar,And catch the burning sparks that flyLike chaff from a threshing floor. He goes on Sunday to the church,And sits among his boys;He hears the parson pray and preach,He hears his daughter's voice,Singing in the village choir,And it makes his heart rejoice. It sounds to him like her mother's voice,Singing in paradise! He needs must think of her once more,How in the grave she liesAnd with his hard, rough hand he wipesA tear out of his eyes.Toiling,-rejoicing,-sorrowing,Onward through life he goes; Each morning sees some task begin,Each evening sees it close;Something attempted, something done,Has earned a night's repose. Thanks, thanks to thee my worthy friend,For the lesson thou hast taught! Thus at the flaming forge of lifeOur fortunes must be wrought; Thus on its sounding anvil shapedEach burning deed and thought.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful dayGoodbye.

The Essential Timeframe between Guitar Practice Sessions

Transcript and photos included below…Here at Guitar Serious Fun, we intentionally work to have a good balance between practical and philosophical concepts.  Today's discussion is more on the practical side, but there's also a philosophy behind it.Three Pictures of RhythmI want you to envision three separate images, and I'll provide photos of them in the blog version of today's episode.  They are 1) a suspension bridge, 2) a pearl necklace, and 3) a “connect-the-dots” diagram.First: a suspension bridge:You've probably driven over a suspension bridge at some point in your life.  What you might observe as you make your way across the bridge is that it not only takes you from one piece of land to another, but that there are usually at least two points where most of the weight is supported: the towers. The towers are where the cables are connected, so as to create a parabolic shape, leading from one tower to the next.  A suspension bridge doesn't typically have a single tower.  It shares the “weight” between at least two towers.  And between those towers is a bit of “rest” or less tension, where not as much weight is carried. The second image: a pearl necklace. This is an excellent example of a balance between the connective necklace string and the pearls that are strung on it.  There's a slight gap between each of the pearls.  And it's not one long “tube-shaped” pearl; it's a collection of pearls. The last image for your consideration is a “connect-the-dots” diagram. This is by definition, a collection of dots that are (or will be) connected by lines.  Each of the dots is a marker point which can be used, usually in a sequence, to allow for a bigger picture to emerge once the dots are connected. So, each of these three images I've described has anchor points, whether they are the tower of a bridge, the pearl on a necklace, or the dot in a diagram.  And each of these images has more than one anchor point, sometimes many.If you view the trajectory of each of these images, there can be a bit of a rhythm. The bridge, from one side to the other, has a simple rhythm of: tower, swoop, tower, swoop. The necklace has a string and a simple rhythm of: pearl, string, pearl, string. And the “connect-the-dots” diagram has the rhythm of: dot, line, dot line.Rhythm in LifeOur lives consist of rhythm.  We wake up and do our work.  We go to sleep.  We're awake, then asleep, then awake, then asleep.  We walk, usually right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot, etc.  Our heartbeat is a rhythm.  Our breathing is a rhythm.Conversations and information exchange can be a sort of rhythm.  None of these is even about music…yet.  But music is, of course, an avenue where rhythm can be explored.  Sure, rhythm doesn't have to be a part of a song, but it usually is.For more on this discussion topic, I encourage you to check out Guitar Serious Fun Episode 77: Rhythms of Rest for Guitar.Where am I going with all of this?  You've probably got it figured out, based on the title of today's episode.  Here's where I plan to land this:Practicing can be in a sort of rhythm as well, especially if it's done deliberately.  To this end, I want you to think about the time between your practice sessions as essential. What our mind is doing when we're not “practicing”If you're listening to the podcast version of today's episode, I've put the word “practicing” in quotes.  Practicing, by definition, is going over musical content with the intent to improve upon it.Can practicing happen when we are not at our instruments?  Before I answer this question, I'll state that the best form of practice happens when we are indeed playing the guitar.  That's a pretty straightforward fact.I can't form chords and scales without my instrument.  (Ok, there may be an app I can tap on a device for, but the strings and the frets won't be the same.) And I can't strum effectively without my guitar.  Again, with a pick in my hand, I could strum in the air, or against the front of my shirt.  But practicing with our actual guitar is going to be tremendously effective. However…when we don't have our guitars, we can still be “practicing.”  How often have you sat back down to practice and sensed that you were “further along” than you were when you finished your last practice session? Why would that be?Because your mind was still mulling over the concepts.  You might visualize them, you might hum them, you might tap your toes, and you might sing through the musical exercise or song you were practicing. And this might happen while you're doing some mundane task that's not at all related. Each time we take a break from our practice, probably for the day, we enter this “mini-season” of rest, which allows for the connective time between the practice sessions. Based on our images from the beginning of today's episode (the anchor points of the bridge towers, the pearls, or the dots) each represent our practice sessions. But the cabling, the necklace string, or the lines represent an equally important part of the picture – the time of resting our hands and our eyes, but still allowing our minds to process the material. The Lord does something unique in our minds during this downtime.  I can't categorize it in terms of psychology or even physiology; I just know if I've experienced it.The Lord helps us process what we did, and prepares us to do it again on the next level.  If you have any desire to memorize what you're learning on the guitar (a song, a scale, a chord, etc.) you will find this process essential to your success. But here's the key – we need to have consistency between work and rest.An Analogy from the GardenIn GuitarSuccess4U, our members are welcomed into the experience right away with a video that lays the groundwork for how they can develop an effective practice regimen.Without giving too much away, in this video I use the analogy of a small raised garden bed for vegetables, where I made space, framed the garden, added soil, planted seeds, and watered regularly, keeping an eye out for weeds and pests. Each of these components in the “garden” analogy has a crossover to how a guitarist can carve out a practice space, develop a plan, take in wisdom and knowledge, and apply a moderate amount of diligent, consistent practice, watching out for hindrances and distractions.Gardening, as I've discovered, especially when it comes to growing food, has a bit of a sequence and routine to it. If I were to bring in the soil without having a frame for it, that would be out of sequence. If I were to throw down seeds and then frame the garden, later adding soil, that wouldn't be optimal either. And in terms of a routine, if I decided I wanted to pour a hundred gallons of water onto the garden one day, and not water it again for six months, that would be ineffective.  It's the consistent watering that leads to the plants germinating and coming up through the soil.  And some of the watering needs to happen for several consistent weeks before results can be seen as the plants emerge.  The watering is done in moderate, consistent amounts.Eventually, the plants are large enough to harvest.  This is a high point, before we move on to the next season and plant a new crop. But the key word is consistent, or consistency.Wisdom from an AthleteA friend of mine named Jonathan (who stays very fit) once shared this bit of wisdom with me, and I've never forgotten it.  I'm actually including it in some of the teaching I'll be offering in an upcoming online guitar web masterclass, which you'll hear about in the near future. The phrase is: consistency trumps intensity.I'll unpack this briefly from the perspective of an athlete. An athlete typically works out several times a week on an ongoing basis.  You won't see an athlete work out 10 hours straight for 7 days and then “call it good” for a year's worth of exercise, right?Consistency trumps intensity.  An intense week of exercise can be trumped by multiple weeks and months of consistent exercise, of a much shorter duration. Some athletes train for an event.  Another friend of mine, Chuck, recently ran a marathon.  He did a lot of consistent training, whether running, strength training, or even intentional measured food consumption, under the close supervision of a coach.Chuck was tremendously consistent, and we spoke at length about his process.  Ultimately, the payoff came when he ran the marathon.  His consistency had paid off.The Pit StopWe can learn consistently, but sometimes our musical development has a bit of a “pit stop” in the form of a concentrated learning environment over the course of a short amount of time, like a single day or a weekend.Worship conferences fall into this category.  They are a great opportunity to grow in our skills, but to me, the main “win” of a conference experience is just that – the experience.  It's the opportunity to be inspired, encouraged, and perhaps offered a handful of insights that can be put to use. A conference can be a “mountaintop” experience.A conference also allows for the opportunity to connect with others who are on a similar trajectory.  Tips, tools and insights can be absorbed on a moderate level at a conference. But that conference is rarely more than a few days.  Imagine if someone wanted to host a regional worship conference every day for a couple years.  Hmmm…I just don't see that being sustainable for the hosts, or the attendees. Most people need to get back to work and to their own routines, and many folks travel a significant distance to be at these worship conferences.  I recall one man traveling from the other side of the planet to be at a worship conference I taught at.So the “win” of the conference is that it inspires us and serves as a catalyst for each one of us as we go back to our routines and our “week in, week out” worship leading, songwriting, or performing schedule which is hopefully undergirded by some element of consistent practice.I've hosted multiple annual Guitar Symposia over the years.  Those have been very uplifting to worship leaders and Christian songwriters who want to grow with their guitar skills.I hosted our first GuitarSuccess4U Live event last year, and people drove and flew in for it.  Our time together was such a blessing, and although I offered some teaching on requested topics, the vast majority of the time was spent with informal jamming, fellowship, and feasting together. And when everyone rejoined the Zoom calls as we got back into our routine inside the membership, we were more closely connected. So, I totally support the conference or retreat experience. Now in Guitar Serious Fun Episode 17 and Episode 18, I offered a 2-part discussion of Guitar Through the Seasons.  In these episodes, I did allude to the fact that there are seasons where we need to set down our guitars and play them for less time. But in a normal schedule, my hope is that you would take a little time each day, ideally in the same location and at the same time of day, to provide that consistency that will lead to traction.Certain concepts like a strumming pattern can be imitated and picked up almost immediately.  Other concepts like some moveable chords, scales, fingerstyle patterns or entire songs may take weeks or months, but if we “chip away” at them consistently, we'll surprise ourselves. We'll find ourselves saying something like, “Hey – yesterday, I couldn't play this, but today, I can.”  And by the way, it wasn't a one-day transformation; much like when I planted the garden, the seed germinated below ground and then came up through the soil.It became visible one day, but only as a result of consistent care and watering.Did the plant spring up instantly?  Of course not. Did it respond to the consistent care I gave it?  Yes.Did I leave the plant alone for the rest of the day and give it some space after I watered it?  Yes. To keep watering it hourly would be similar to practicing every hour I'm awake.  I wouldn't be allowing myself the mental or the physical opportunity to…you know it: rest.Wrap-upAs we close things out today, I'll leave you with this thought.  Life is not perfect, and we don't live in a vacuum.  But if we can tether our practice to our existing day-to-day routine, and allow for rest between the practice sessions, we'll work with our minds and bodies, and not against them. When we need a longer break, like weeks or even months, we can do that. When we are excited to attend a concentrated experience like a conference, we can do that.  But the battle is not won on the mountaintop, at the conference.  It's won in the “day in, day out” routine.  It's not super glamorous, but it is worthy, and it does lead to the results we seek. So, keep practicing, get the rest you need, and watch what the Lord does in your guitar playing and musicianship. And if you want to see what other people are doing as they sharpen their skills for the Lord and share their combined wisdom, experience and encouragement, please check out GuitarSuccess4U.com.  I can't say enough about what an amazing experience this is, and I hope you'll come find out for yourself. Thanks for listening today, and I'll see you next time. Thanks for reading Guitar Serious Fun! I recently welcomed Tilly Storm, a somatic safe sex and intimacy coach, onto the show. Tilly is also the host of the Multi-Orgasmic Millionaire podcast, which has gained recognition and a devoted following of over 330,000 listeners. She is known for her unique blend of wisdom, southern sass, and unapologetic authenticity.A Journey Towards Sexual EmpowermentTilly didn't grow up thinking she would become a sex coach. Raised in a Southern Baptist household, there was no talk about pleasure, relationships, or conscious communication. However, her curiosity led her to explore her sexuality at the age of 27, leading her to discover the Taoist practice called the Jade Egg.Like Tilly, I also grew up in a religious environment that instilled guilt and shame around sex. It's a regret that many of us share, but it's also a catalyst for change and growth.Overcoming Doubts and Pursuing PassionTilly's journey to becoming a sex and relationship coach wasn't without doubts. She had to consider the financial implications. However, she knew deep down that this was her calling and couldn't ignore it.I admire Tilly's courage in deciding to follow her heart and help others in the process. It's a common struggle to second-guess oneself and care too much about what others think. But it's crucial not to let external opinions keep you from pursuing your true passion. From City Planner to Sex CoachBefore becoming a coach, Tilly worked as a city planner but was fired for breastfeeding her child. This experience solidified her determination to show her kids that it's possible to do what you love and make a good living from it. Her family, who always saw her as the black sheep, accepted her unique path without question.Reclaiming Sexuality and Overcoming ChallengesTilly offers a diverse range of programs aimed at helping women reclaim their sexuality and overcome various challenges. Many of her clients seek her help due to a lack of sexual desire or struggles in their relationships and sex lives. The Importance of Embodiment and Personal PracticeTilly's training in sex, love, and relationships required her to do extensive self-training before working with clients—this involved breathwork, shadow work, and creating an intentional self-pleasure practice. Many people feel uncomfortable when they start working with Tilly due to shame and guilt surrounding self-pleasure. However, Tilly emphasizes the importance of knowing what pleases you and how it can enhance your experiences with a partner.Exploring Different Types of OrgasmsTilly introduces the concept of eight different types of orgasms.Navigating Aging and MenopauseTilly shares her excitement about getting older and the opportunities it brings, such as being able to focus on her impact and legacy in the world. She encourages women to approach the sexual transition that comes with menopause with intention and to explore practices and training that can help cultivate pleasure and desire. The Connection Between Sexual Pleasure and Other Areas of LifeOur conversation with Tilly Storm highlighted the importance of exploring one's sexual pleasure and its connection with other areas of life.Support the showThank you for listening to our podcast. Race directors warned participants that this course may be one of the most difficult trail marathons that you will ever complete. There are technical and steep pitches including the signature Breakneck Point that at points require climbing and tolerance of exposure, technical stretches of footing, and significant elevation gain and loss. The risk associated with this terrain is significant and only those seasoned and prepared for this terrain should join the entrant pool.Links: garagegymoneida.com Instagram: bobthebodybuilder83 Sponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! The following is a conversation with Lenore Skenazy. Lenore is an American speaker, blogger, syndicated columnist, author, and reality show host, known for her activism in favor of free-range parenting. In 2008, she wrote a controversial column on her decision to let her then-9-year-old son take the New York City Subway home alone, which became a national story and prompted massive media attention, and dubbing as "America's Worst Mom."[1] In response, Lenore wrote the book "Free-Range Kids" and runs a blog of the same name. She is the president of Let Grow a nonprofit whose mission is to give kids back the developmentally crucial “vitamin” our culture accidentally removed from childhood: Independence., She was featured in the documentary Chasing Childhood released in 2020 which has received 13 film festival awards.  Lenore is a 1981 graduate of Yale University and received her master's degree from Columbia in 1983.  I remember my personal childhood like it was yesterday, playing in the woods, wandering for hours with friends, riding dirt bikes, using the full extent of my imagination, building tree forts, wrestling with friends, playing in creek beds, fishing and building sledding jumps designed for maximal air and spectacular wipe outs. Today on the other hand, we see almost none of this. Children are bubble wrapped, protected from all harm and never allowed to truly connect with their inner animal. But on the flip side, children are pushed harder than ever for perfect grades and constant involvement in structured events, leading to the highest rates of depression, anxiety and stress we have ever seen. It's for these reasons I am excited to chat with Lenore today.  Links: https://letgrow.org/ https://www.freerangekids.com/ Sponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! The following is a conversation with John Salka. John began his career in politics in 2001 having spent time on the Brookfield Central school board, Brookfield town supervisor, and county board of supervisors. He chaired a number of key committees including Planning and Economic Development, Mental Health, Social Services, Public Health and served as the vice president of the Board of Health for six years. John oversaw over 40 millions dollars of taxpayers money and his crowning achievement during his tenure was privatizing the public health nursing agency thus saving the taxpayers over a million dollars in the first year of its divestiture. He also chaired the Energy committee and was president of the Madison County Public Utilities Corp. In 2018 John was elected to the New York State Assembly representing the 121st district which encompassed all of Madison, the southern part of Oneida and most of Otsego counties. He served for two terms and due to unconstitutional redistricting he decided not to run for what would have been a third and final term.  John is currently the Director of Community Affairs for congressman Brandon Williams of the 22nd congressional district that encompasses all of Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties.  I have followed John for sometime and believes he wants the best for upstate NY. His public service contribution is one I respect. He has been in a government role 23 years and has witnessed many trends, and political discourse, which is why I am excited to talk with him today.Link:Email: jsalka3@gmail.comSponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! The following is a conversation on a topic that I find very interesting, finance. To be clear, this is a hobby project of mine, one that I enjoy learning about but I am by no means an expert in this field. Over the last 10 years I have spent considerable time speaking to individuals from many different backgrounds in the world of finance. I believe we can make this world a better place if more people understood the economic engine that drives the planet. I also believe that if we can make more individuals financially stable, overall health would improve, education outcomes and opportunity would improve, depression and anxiety rates would decrease, and the drive to pursue the American dream would be more attractive. The current system benefits those that understand it, so my hope is to break down a complicated topic into one that is digestible to all and provide a vision to those that struggle to see a positive future when it comes to financial stability. They believe It's not only about money, but manpower: a willingness to give what one can, be it a helping hand or simply an encouraging word. Their members who can pay-it-forward, do so, to support access for those who can't. Five volunteer hours per month equates to a four-week membership. Memphis Rox is the first nonprofit climbing gym of its size, standing at 32,000 sq ft with yoga and meditation space, a fitness area and system board. The campus also houses Juice Almighty, an in-house café, the Soulsville Community Closet and an Educational Food Garden.  In 2020 the documentary Black Ice premiered at the adventure film festival Reel Rock 15. The following is a conversation with Joseph Brown, founder of Heresy Financial. Joseph spent nearly five years in the financial services industry, and witnessed too many people paying high fees for bad advice. Heresy Financial exists to assist people in learning how money works, so that they can control their financial security. He provides the education needed to prepare for the coming economic storms and produces actionable content that goes against the conventional grain. Joseph is quoted saying “To the establishment, we are Heretics. To the masses, we are fools. But when the world's economies fall to pieces around us, the ones who do, what the majority do not, will be the only ones left standing.” Josephs YouTube Channel Heresy Financial has over 174,000 subscribers and has accumulated over 25 million views.  A good friend of mine shared Josephs work with me. I found his knowledge and ability to articulate complex financial topics in a simple way, refreshing and informative. Personal finance, and money are topics often times ignored and viewed in a negative light. Our schools and educational systems do not educate our youth (or adults) on how money works, and as a result many never achieve financial freedom. I believe that if you make the poor and middle class prosper and you will have a better World, a cleaner environment, less crime, and improved physical, emotional and mental health.YouTube: Heresy Financial Instagram: Heresy Financial Website: Heresy.Financial Sponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! East Palestine Train Derailment, Environmental Disaster - Co-Movement Gym Podcast S2E47

The following is a conversation with Emily Wright. Emily is a Development Director at River Valley Organizing. She lives approximately 5 miles from the devastating train wreck that occurred in East Palistine Ohio.  February 3rd of this year in a small town in Ohio, a train derailed damaging 50 cars, 11 of which contained hazardous materials such as vinyl chloride, ethylene glycol ether, and many others. These chemicals are directly linked to an increase in liver cancer, respiratory issues, loss of consciousness, drowsiness, nausea, and neurological issues. The nearly 5000 town residents were evacuated. The water, soil and air have been polluted to such an extent that fish, and livestock have been found dead up to 7 miles away. This is quite possibly the worst ecological disaster since Chernobyl.  The mass media did not cover this story for nearly 5 days, instead focusing their efforts on the Chinese balloon. Some questions to ponder? Why did the mass media ignore this devastating accident? Is it because Wall street owns 75% of the railroad company responsible for this accident? Is it because the location the accident occurred in is a blue collar, lower income, rural town? Where do all the fumes end up long term? Where do they go when they hit the jet stream? Should nearby states be taking caution? How are the real estate values for those nearly 5,000 residents affected? Have they been compensated by the company responsible? How about water quality and soil samples?? For the livestock that have been affected, is it safe to eat their food products? In an age that is so concerned with climate change and environmental steward ship, why has the government's response been so lax? Why has the budget for railroad inspectors been cut to such an extent that they only spend on average 60 seconds inspecting each car per trip, cars that contain hazardous material that has the potential to absolutely destroy the environment. Today we are going to dive into this story.Links: https://www.rivervalleyorganizing.org/Sponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! He will be returning to Central New York after graduation to work alongside his father Peter Lombardi with hopes of expanding and growing his already successful chiropractic practice in Oneida NY. Nate is an avid outdoorsman spending time hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring different parts of the country. He recently got engaged and is a soon-to-be father.  I have known Nate for many years, watching him develop into a man, pushing through tough times and capitalizing on good times. I decided to invite Nate onto our podcast because Nate is a great example for our youth, many of which are lacking direction, purpose, drive and passion. At Miles Franklin, a company that has eclipsed $5 billion in sales, Andrew has developed an operation that maintains trust, collaboration, and ethical behavior, superior customer service and satisfaction to better serve their clients. He is responsible for overseeing the firm's operations and business functions; including strategy and planning, account management, finance, and new business. I discovered Andy through Robert Kiyoski, the best-selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. Andy and Robert are close friends and their latest conversation on YouTube blew my mind, so I decided to reach out to Andy and invite him on the podcast. Over the last year I have been diving into the world of finance, trying to understand how fiat money, banks, assets and debt all work as a system. Some of you may be asking yourself, what does this have to do with health? Well one of the top sources of stress affecting people's health today is MONEY. So in this conversation Andy and I are going to get into a 101 version of the history of banking, and how money works or doesn't work for you. I am deeply disturbed that they do not teach basic finance in high school or college, nor do they give our youth any kind of education setting them up for financial success down the road, hence why I'll be diving deeper into this topic as the months and years go on. The following is a conversation with Jinnie Garrett. Jinnie grew up in southern England eventually emigrating to the US in 1976. She completed college and graduate studies at various schools around the US and moved to upstate NY, starting as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Hamilton College in 1986. She worked there primarily teaching Genetics for almost 30 years and then moved to SW Virginia in 2015 to become Dean of Science and Mathematics at Ferrum College. She retired in 2019 and now lives on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. Jinnie has kept up various forms of exercising throughout the years giving her the ability to partake is numerous adventures many would find inspiring. Jinnie has done a 550' bungee jump in New Zealand, rafted down the Grand Canyon on the Colorado Rivcr , hiked in the volcanoes of Guatemala and most recently hiked up Mt Kilimanjaro July of 2022 joining several friends on 9-day trip with the Kiliwarriors tour company. The total distance hiked was 32.5 miles, with a starting altitude at ~7500', with the summit reaching a staggering 19,340'. The average success rate for tourists on all routes climbing is 65% but for the 9-day route is 95% . As important as pre-trip preparation was, Jinnie attributes most of her success in completing the climb to the support of amazing guides and porters of the Kiliwarriors tour group.. I met Jinnie in 2011 when she joined Co-Movement Gym. Jinnie has been one of our longest and most loyal members here religiously following our remote training option. She is a true example when it comes to hard work, and will power when it comes to staying dedicated to a goal. Her adventures inspire me, as I'm sure they will for many of you. At the age of 69 Jinnie continues to plan adventures, keeps training and most importantly living life to the fullest.Links:Kiliwarriors.com Sponsors:NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! The following is a conversation with Texas Dad aka Jim. Jim is the founder of Texas Boys, a very popular YouTube channel and farm products company. After graduating from college and spending 11 years in the financial sector Jim and his family uprooted from the North East and left everything they knew about life behind them. They felt their move was necessary in order to provide a better quality of life for their children. They desired to teach them about the “real” things in life…food, family, farming, and faith and they are doing this in the great state of Texas.Texas Boys has over 81 thousand youtube subscribers, 7.6 million video views, and they sell a host of products online ranging from coffee, honey, apparel, soap and more.I found Texas Boys through another popular YouTube channel I follow, Off Grid with Doug and Stacey. While some of their viewpoints you may not agree with, I resonate with what Jim and his son Matt stand for, freedom, sustainable agricultural practices, healthy eating, family values, hard work and the homestead lifestyle.Links:thetexasboys.comYouTube: TheTexasBoys-SHARING LIFE & TRUTHSponsors: NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! The following is a walking conversation with Joel Salatin at Polyface Farm in Swoope Virginia. When Joel graciously offered to give me a private tour of his farm, I immediately took the opportunity. During the tour we documented both video and audio. If you are listening to the audio only version, understand this was a walking conversation, not the sit down style we normally do. While the video was shot by me, an amateur at best, I still highly recommend watching the video version. Joel co-owns, with his family, Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia., been featured in the New York Times bestseller Omnivore's Dilemma and award-winning documentary Food Inc., the farm services more than 5,000 families, 50 restaurants, 10 retail outlets, and a farmers' market with salad bar beef, pigaerator pork, pastured poultry, and forestry products.  When he's not on the road speaking, he's at home on the farm, keeping the callouses on his hands and dirt under his fingernails, mentoring young people, inspiring visitors, and promoting local, regenerative food and farming systems.A frequent guest on radio programs and podcasts such as the Joe Rogan Experience and London Real, he targets preppers, homesteaders, and foodies. Salatin's practical, can-do solutions for sustainability offer everyone food for thought and plans for action.SHOW SPONSORS:We negotiated a savings for YOU and we get a small kick back allowing us to keep our show FREE!   So when you use the link and coupon codes below EVERYBODY WINS!WE ONLY GET CREDIT IF YOU USE THE DISCOUNT CODES AT THE WEBSITES LISTED BELOW, (PURCHASES MADE THROUGH AMAZON WE GET NO CREDIT FOR) WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR SUPPORTING OUR WORK =)Sponsors: NativePath:Follow the link below to see all of NativePath's Pure Grass-Fed, Organic, Clean Supplements and use the CoMo15 code at checkout for 15% off!https://www.nativepath.com/Lombardi Chiropractic:https://www.lombardichiropractic.com/Mention the Co-Movement Gym Podcast when scheduling your initial appointment for 50% off Initial Consultation and X-Rays!Redmond:redmond.lifeOur team at Co-Movement Gym has used Redmond's Real Sea Salt, Seasonings, Re-Lyte Electrolyte drink and other products for years! There are 2 kinds of people in this world: People that are in need and don't know it, and people that are in need and know it. Everyone is struggling with something, and Alison's goal for this episode is to tell others they are not alone. Our world is in desperate need of truth and vulnerability, and that is what you are going to get here. Most people are displaying their highlight reel to the world, but it is so important that you connect with people that are honest, and remember to not put any person on a pedestal. We are all human and we all struggle with thought distortion. If you are feeling stuck in a pattern of unhappiness, Alison is sharing her heart with you today so you can know there is hope to reach a state of peace. In this episode, Alison explains that the reason so many people are unhappy is that they are not aligned with the part of them that wants more for themselves. We have to get to the root of what is fueling the repeated experience that we continue to have. When we show up bitter or insecure, there is a reason for that and there is a way to get out of this cycle. We live in a mistake-averse society where we don't often see others' struggles, but Alison shares her struggles with you and wants to spread the message that there is a way to find peace and show up as your confident and loving self. Surround yourself with people that will show you the truth, and start with this episode.Key highlights:How to not feel so crazy in your inner world and in the way that you experience lifeOur world is crying out for truth and vulnerabilityMost of us have been conditioned to feel crappyIt is hard to feel happy when you are not aligned with the part of you that wants moreWhat core belief is in charge of your emotional experience?Sit and reframe the belief that you have about your patternAnger is a secondary emotion, and fear is a primary emotion, most people are trying to cover their fear instead of going to the part of them that is afraid and helping that part growWe are shamed away from our rarity Follow people that are honest, don't put anyone on a pedestalWhen we show up defensive, bitter, or insecure, we're not our best selves, we're in survival modeWhen we show up happy and filled with love, that us that our identity The people that are interested in your life are confident in themselvesIt takes two to tell the truth.
