Welcome to the Co-Movement Gym Podcast! This week we are talking with Tommy Wheatley and Luke Kidwell. Raw Milk & Deadlifts was founded by lifelong friends Tommy Wheatley and Luke Kidwell. Growing up with no experience (or interest) in farming, their journey began in the gym during high-school. What started as a typical goal to gain a bit of muscle slowly turned into a passion for healthy eating, intentional living and an overall desire to know more about the food system. This ultimately led them into homesteading, and in 2020 they started Raw Milk & Deadlifts as a way to educate about fitness, real foods and blend their passions for old school strength training, traditional farming, and faith. This week we are talking with Jared and Lauren Burdick, who started their company, Miles and Macros, three years ago with the intent to help people get the most out of their running and nutrition by providing them with training to help them meet their individual goals. Their programs feature half marathon, marathon, cycling, and strength workouts, all available using their app, in-person or virtual. In addition to that, they host three trail races at three different locations, which are all beginner friendly, but also challenging enough for the most experienced runner. I was introduced to Miles and Macros by a good friend of mine Bob Galinski and have since been following their work.Instagram @miles.and.macrosThe Co-Movement Gym Podcast is supported by Lombardi Chiropractic and Native Path Supplements. This week we are talking with Andrea and David Peet. Before receiving a death sentence of ALS at 33, Andrea was living a normal life: urban planner, triathlete, and wife hoping to start a family with her beloved husband, David. In four months, she went from completing a half Ironman to walking with a cane. Like a true athlete, she decided to do one final race before her body failed her—an extraordinary experience that convinced Andrea she could create something positive from her journey. After five years with ALS, Andrea embarked on the craziest goal she could imagine: become the first person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 US states. Andrea and David created the Team Drea Foundation, raising more than $1 million for ALS research and inspiring over 400 people to take on challenges they did not think possible. With co-author Meredith Atwood, Andrea's memoir, Hope Fights Back, was released in Fall 2023 by Pegasus Books. David Peet's life was turned upside down in 2014 when his wife Andrea was diagnosed with ALS and given only 2-5 years to live. At the time, they were living in Washington, DC and David was working long hours as a young attorney in a highly-regarded law firm. Andrea's diagnosis changed everything. “I stopped thinking in terms of five- and ten-year plans,” David explains, “I want to make all of her goals and dreams come true, and I want to be there every step of the way.” Today, David works full-time as an attorney for a software company while also serving as Chairman of the Board of The Team Drea Foundation.
