France's Okain continues Volumo's exclusive series in mid-September, the third instalment comprising three originals.  Berlin-based French artist @Okain has been a staple in the underground scene for decades now, delivering his raw, stripped-back House cuts via the likes of Eastenderz, PIV, Pleasure Zone, Constant Sound, Infuse, and, of course, his very own Talman Records. Here, though, we see Okain delivering his latest collection of works for the Ukrainian @Volumo platform's exclusive series, comprised of three original tracks.  'Mercure And Ice Cubes' leads and perfectly sets the tone with a high-octane, robust drum groove, twitchy modulating synths, and sturdy low-end swells intertwined with sporadic vocal chants and Hammond organ hits.

Hailing from San José, Costa Rica, Artro has been immersed in the world of sound for nearly two decades. His multifaceted musical journey encompasses drumming, DJing, sound production, and field recordings, each serving various artistic purposes. Artro operates primarily from his studio, Trial Und Error, situated within Central America's pioneering electronic music record store and distributor, Sala Sinestesia. Artro's sonic explorations span the globe, covering a diverse range of genres such as Ambient, breaks, micro, minimal, house, Electro, Dub, Techno, Acid, IDM, and more. Since 2012, he has been releasing music and co-founded microminimal records. He is also an integral part of projects like Atypical Noise and Selected Beats within Costa Rica. When curating events, Artro tailors his sound to match the concept, collaborators, audience, and venue, creating a unique musical journey that traverses a spectrum of emotions and experiences. His compositions are characterized by rich textures, intricate patterns, and an organic, rhythmic flow that unites everything. Artro meticulously selects handpicked records and digital releases, including his own and those from his friends. He has delved into live audiovisual performances, expanding his artistic repertoire. Identifying with the limited Electronic Music scene in Saudi Arabia, Nasser calls him self DesertF!sh to represent his Saudi Arabian roots of the desert sands of Najd and west coast Hijaz region. Styles vary from uplifting aleatoric melodies to darker and sinister industrial vibes when producing Techno. With influences such as Brazilian artist Oliver Gattermayer as a mentor DesertF!sh was introduced into the electronic music world. By joining WVUM 90.5 FM the voice of University of Miami, Desertf!sh hosted The CrossFade. Through this journey he met Typ3 Records founders SpinnZinn and Luke Hunter. Alberto Arranz alias FreedomB schmeißt für euch die #21! Der gebürtige Madridler wurde stark vom Disco-Sound der Achtzigerjahre sowie dem Chicagoer Haus der 90er beeinflusst. Von Jazz, Funk und Soul, bis zum Ursprung der House Music und den elektronischen Beats, FreedomB sucht ständig nach dem Groove, der die Leuten zum stundenlangen Tanzen bringt. Verführerische Sets, produziert mit Leib und Seele, sind die Grundlage für einen Künstler der viel zu sagen und wenig zu schweigen hat. Nach einem Musikstipendium im Jahr 2010 tourte er zwei Wochen durch die USA, was ihm unter anderem auch die Gelegenheit zu Teil brachte in San Francisco aufzutreten. Wenige Monate später erhielt er die Residency im berühmten Up Club (Madrid), wo er sich die Bühne mit Künstlern wie Paul Ritch, Paco Osuna, Okain, Marco Carola, Ambivalent und vielen anderen teilte. Nach der entsprechenden Vertragsunterzeichnung im Jahr 2011 durfte er sich unter die Künstler von Monza Ibiza Records einreihen, einer renommierten Marke auf der Insel. Im Januar 2012 verschlug es ihn schlussendlich nach Berlin, wo er seither, beeinflusst durch den Sound der Stadt, an der Verfeinerung seines Stils arbeitet. Nach Releases bei Labels wie Knee Deep In Sound, Toolroom, Sola, ElRow Music, Roush oder Flashmob Records bekommt FreedomB Unterstützung seitens Künstlern wie Hot Since 82, Supernova, Hector Couto, Solardo oder Flashmob. What makes them so special? A: You can hold vinyl in your hands – that’s very special. At the moment most of the music that is released is only digital and you store this music in a folder on your laptop or the usb-stick. I love to have great music in my hand and to store them in my vinyl shelf much more old-school but still cool. Also playing vinyl is special not every mix is perfect but that’s it and that makes every set special and people listen to that – things happen during a set which you can not plan but in the end: it sounds good especially the dirty touch of this medium like the cracking and random noises. Also this podcast is made by vinyl only. Q: You planned to move to Istanbul for a while - before the attacks and the politic situation. How do you think about it today and is it still an option? A: The political situation is very worrying at the moment and you also note this in clubs. People don’t like to make big party’s there and it is a really tense situation in this country. But still - I love Istanbul a lot – it is a very magical city with a great vibe. I would like to play there, to make people happy with my music and let them forget for a moment what happens outside of the club. My movement plans to Istanbul are currently on ice. I stay in my hometown Dresden at the moment but if the situation in Turkey becomes more relaxed I will move there for a while. That’s sure. Q: Which new David Jach releases are coming soon? A: My next release will be on “With Compliments” it is a vinyl release called “Back to House EP” with an awesome remix from Okain & AGENT I work at the moment on a co-production with Sven Tasnadi. It's time for podcast round two so we felt the need to draft in a rising star on the underground house circuit.  In our constant pursuit to unearth fresh talent, we're stoked to have Underground Artists' very own Cristoph taking control of episode two.  Recently, the Geordie lad has released a slew of highly regarded EPs on Defected and Underground Audio respectively.  His dance floor focussed deep grooves have been causing a stir across the globe and this mix showcases his dramatic DJ style perfectly.  We caught up with the spinner for a chat ahead of his show here at Egg for Night Train on 14th December. Where, how and on what was the mix recorded? The mix was done in my studio, well by studio I mean spare room in my house! I used a set of Pioneer CDJ 1000's and a Pioneer DJM 800 mixer, it wasn't planned out or anything. It contains a few promo's i've been sent recently, some tracks by producers i'm really into at the moment and a new one of my own called 'You Got Me'. What are your highlights from 2013 so far? Any stand out moments? This year has been pretty crazy for me to be honest. I only started the 'Cristoph' alias at the end of last year so started on new productions this year and have been so lucky with that. I had my first tracks signed and released this year, I met my manager Kal...got an EP signed to his label and then was signed by his agency, had an EP signed by Defected, played at ADE......very lucky boy i'd say.You've made a big impact with your debut release on Defected 'Guffaz' How did the opportunity come about? Its took me massively by surprise the impact its had and the support its received, i'm very grateful for that and to Hot Since 82 who was the first DJ to give me feedback on it and play it out all the way back in march! It's a funny one how it ended up there, i'd actually sent it to Kal who wanted it for his label...he contacted Andy at Defected to get a sample in the record passed by them, Andy then asked if I had anymore unsigned music, Kal sent him over some and Andy wanted an EP choosing 'Dunka' and 'Surprised You' from the batch.Do you have any upcoming releases elsewhere? I have an EP out on Underground Audio on November 18th entitled 'Shelter Ep', one out on Extended Play in December and 2 EPs coming next year with Defected.Ahead of your gig at Egg London on the 14th for Night Train is there anything that you'd like to shout about? I'd like to say a big thank you to Kal for the support he's giving me since signing me in the summer and for allowing me to be part of his awesome agency, there's too many producers and DJs that I love to actually list but I am giving a special shout to all at the Underground Agency. Anyone who's in London on December 14th to come to The Egg to support the night, catch me and DeMarzo from Underground Artists and see the legend Kenny Larkin headline the other room. Last, but not least, for everyone to keep supporting house music as a whole. Welcome to Metroline Limited Podcast Episode 26 by French tech-house golden boy Clio. Clio released the huge For Sure Baby on Metroline Limited last summer, a track and an EP that went on to become the best selling Metroline's to date and found their way in the dj boxes of some of the biggest dj's out there! After spending the last few years in train yards across France and Europe,Clio now expresses his feelings with music. Gathering inspiration from "random minimal" sounds and tech-house, as well as influences such as Dance music, Dub,Hip Hop and Jazz . From early sessions with his friend "Romain", Clio was really introduced to music production by Kane Roth. He released his first remix for Lega and Julie Amadeo's "Sunken Sleep", on "Miniscule" netlabel (US 2008 ) Since then, he has worked on his own characteristic sound based on a groovy and funny approach of music ,aimed at the dance-floor, but "cool" enough to appreciate it at home or in the living room. After few remixes and collaborations,Clio is now focusing on his own project. With his first solo EP (Metroline Limited 37D) Clio gains some good exposure, as the track "For Sure Baby" is really well received and heavily supported during the whole summer 2010 in Ibiza by Loco Dice. Also,dj's and producers such as Matthias Tanzmann,Nic Fanciulli,Tiefschwarz,Sasha,Rodriguez JR,Ralf Kollmann,Mikael Stavostrand,Ewan Pearson,Okain,Sasch BBC,Slz,Noir,M.In (among others) selected Clio's music for their charts and/or dj sets. 2011 will feature some new EP's,remixes and appearances on various labels such as : "Saved", "Metroline" ...
