Chapter 14 - Norbert The Norwegian Ridgeback“But there aren't wild dragons in Britain?” said Harry. “Of course there are,” said Ron. “Common Welsh Green and Hebridean Blacks. THe Ministry of Magic has a job hushing them up, I can tell you. Our lot have to keep putting spells on Muggles who've spotted them, to make them forget.”Q1 - Now that you'd know but do you think the Ministry of Magic has ever put a memory spell on you?Q2 - On your first read, did you think Snape was the one who was going after the stone?Q3 - How much brandy and chicken blood do you think Hagrid went through to feed Norbert?“Wonder what it's like to have a peaceful life?” Ron sighed.Harry suddenly turned to Ron. “Charlie,” he said. “You're losing it, too,” said Ron. “I'm Ron, remember?”Chapter 15 - The Forbidden ForestIt was the first time Hermione has ever failed to answer a teacher's question. She was staring at her slippers, as still as a statue.Q1 - Do you really think McGonagall has never heard of four students out of bed before?Q2 - At this point in the book were you convinced Snape was the main assailant to Quirrel? Would you have bet 12 sorcerer's stones?Q3 - Is a punishment of going in the forbidden forest too extreme for any students?“I want fang,” said Malfoy quickly, looking at Fang's long teeth. “All right, but I warn yeh, he's a coward,” said Hagrid.Q4 - Is it weird that Hagrid goes by Hagrid and not Ruebeus?“Always the innocent are the first victims,” he said, “So it has been for ages past, so it is now.”Yet again, Ronan took a while to answer. At last, he said, “The Forest hides many secrets.”Q5 - How much do you think Centaurs know? “The planets have been read wrongly before now, even by centaurs. I hope this is one of those times.”Chapter 16 - Through the TrapdoorQ1 - Do you think you could make a pineapple tapdance across the classroom?“I think it's a warning…it means danger's coming.”“Neville will play quidditch for England before Hagrid lets Dumbledore down.”Q2 - What do you think Dumbledore does on a day to day basis?“You can't!” said Hermione. “After what McGonagall and Snape have said? You'll be expelled!” “SO WHAT?” Harry shouted. “Don't you understand? If Snape gets hold of the Stone, Voldemort's coming back! “I'll use the Invisibility Cloak,” said Harry. “It's just lucky I got it back.” “But will it cover all three of us?” said Ron.“I won't let you do it,” he said, hurrying to stand in front of the portrait hole. “I'll — I'll fight you.” He took a step forward and Neville dropped Trevor the toad, who leapt out of sight. “Go on then, try and hit me!” said Neville, raising his fists, “I'm ready!”Q3 - What are your thoughts on Neville?“HAVE YOU GONE MAD?” Ron bellowed. “ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?”Q4 - What do you think was the level of difficulty for that chess game?“But Harry — What if You-Know-Who's with him?” “Well — I was lucky once, wasn't I?” said Harry, pointing at his scar. “I might get lucky again.” Hermione's lip trembled and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him. “Hermione!” “Harry — you're a great wizard, you know.” “I'm not as good as you,” said Harry, very embarrassed, as she let go of him. “Harry took a deep breath and picked up the smallest bottle. He turned to face the black flames. “Here I come,” he said and he drained the little bottle in one gulp.Q5 - Which was your favorite test?Q6 - If you could add a test to the group, what would you do?Chapter 17 - The Man With Two FacesQ1 - When you first read this, did you expect that it was going to be Quirrell?“He was at Hogwarts with your father, didn't you know? They loathed each other. But he never wanted you dead”“There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it.”Q2 - What do you think Voldemort is at this moment?“How touching…” it hissed. “I always value bravery…Yes, boy, your parents were brave…I linked your father first and he put up a courageous fight…but your mother needn't have died…she was trying to protect you…Now give me the stone, unless you want her to have died in vain.”And other voices, maybe in Harry's own head, crying, “Harry! Harry!”“What happened down in the dungeons between you and Professor Quirrel is a complete secret, so, naturally, the whole school knows.”Q3 - How much elixir do you really think the Flamels have stored?Q4 - Thoughts on Dumbledore?“To one as young as you, I'm sure it seems incredible, but to Nicholas and Perenelle, it really is like going to bed after a very, very long day. After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”Q5 - What do you think Dumbledore means when he says the above quote?“The truth,” Dumbledore sighed. “It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.”“Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn't realize that love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves it's own mark. Not a scar, no visible sign…to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection for ever. It is in your very skin.”Q6 - Do you think Dumbledore meant for Harry to go after Voldemort?“Sent owls off ter all ter parents old school friends, askin fer photos…knew yeh didn't have any…d'yeh like it?” Harry couldn't speak, but Hagrid understood.Q7 - How rigged is the point system?“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award ten points to Mr Neville Longbottom.”
Simply splendid to see you old boy! We're glad you made it back, as we Quirrel over the first 4 chapters of HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Collywobbles! The Weasleys blow 700 galleons on a month long excursion to Egypt? We don't buy it. We can't, because the Weasleys already did. We find out Scabbers has fallen ill and lacks a connection to one of his toes. Harry gets a visit from pure-bread booze hound, Aunt Marge. Mikala wonders if mass murderers escaping from jail are actually a Sirius cause for concern? Hermione is no basic white witch and neither is Mikala as we uncover deep similarities between the two of them. You know what? Bathilda Bagshot. Join us!

Hey Y'all!Welcome back as we enter year 5 at Hogwarts. We've survived Voldemort as a brain tumor on the back of Quirrel's head; a giant snake that can kill you if you look at its eyes; time traveling and aiding an escaped prisoner; and Europe's child endangerment ring approved by participating countries. Now, we will see if we can survive not bleeding to death during detention for having the audacity to breathe in front of, as Misty so eloquently put it, "If you could take the American Education System and turn it into a person, you would get Umbridge".P.S.The beginning of this episode takes so many turns, it left me dizzy. But in the best sense."Our dream was dead before we hit elementary school."'We had no hope. Gen Z is the insanity that they are because they never had any hope'

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets, Part 8: Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets, published by lsusr. Luna had too many Calls to Adventure. If there was an author writing Luna's life, Luna would file a complaint. Luna had three magical artifacts of incredible power and at least two of them were maps. What kind of author gives her hero two magical maps? It's redundant. "Are you a map of 10th century Wessex?" Luna asked the Diadem of Ravenclaw. A princess's cute animal companion is supposed to be visible. "Maybe you'll turn into a prince for me," she said to Wanda. Luna tried kissing Wanda but the Wrackspurt dodged and went for her ear instead, "Oh well." Luna needed a mysterious old wizard to help guide her narrative. Gilderoy Lockhart's office hours were always packed. "How did you get past all the security to assassinate the Dark Lord of Berzerkistan?" a sixth-year girl asked. "I can neither confirm nor deny whether I have ever set foot in Berzerkistan," Lockhart winked, "If, as rumored, I am indeed responsible for the Dark Lord of Berzerkistan's untimely demise then my methods must remain a state secret." "Tell me how you got rid of the Bandon Banshee," a first-year girl said. "It is all in my book," Lockhart said. "How did you kill the Dementor sent to Hogwarts last year?" a third-year girl asked. "I promised not to tell," Lockhart said. Lockhart loved his little fans even though none of them cared how he had won Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award. Lockhart patiently parried their questions until one last first-year remained. She had waited to ask him something in private. "Umm. It's okay if you say no. But. Well. Canyouteachmetobepopular?" Luna asked. Lockhart brandished his award-winning smile. Then his face fell. "Such personal attention to a student might appear unseemly," Lockhart said genuinely. "It's an interview for The Quibbler," Luna said. Luna tried out for the Quidditch team. She crashed her broom into the stands. Luna tried out for the Gobstones team. She passed out from the fumes. Luna attempted to try out for Smite Club, a rumored underground continuation of Quirrel's battles. Luna could not find where Smite Club held its meetings. Smite Club may have only ever existed in her imagination. A month flew by. Luna was exhausted. She sleepwalked. 99% of other people never notice the things you fail at. 1% have forgotten by tomorrow morning. ―Lovegood, Luna. "Secrets of Gilderoy Lockhart." The Quibbler. Luna started a Welters team. No other students showed up. Luna started a Wrackspurt training club. Wanda and Luna showed up, but nobody else. Luna started a Muggle Repelling Charms study group in the Forgotten Library. Another month passed. Luna fell asleep in herbology. She wore shoes to bed. People think about themselves 99% of the time. You are competing with all of wizardkind for the remaining 1%. ―Lovegood, Luna. "Deeper Secrets of Gilderoy Lockhart." The Quibbler. Luna dreamed her classmates were casting a spell. Luna played along. "Somnium." Luna woke up. She had been sleepwalking. "Congratulations Ms. Lovegood," said Gilderoy Lockhart, "You will be representing Ravenclaw at this year's dueling tournament." You cannot predict how others will react when you do something out of the ordinary. ―Lovegood, Luna. "Who knew Gilderoy Lockhart possessed so many secrets?" The Quibbler. Thanks for listening.

SIGN UP FOR THE POTTER DISCUSSION NEWSLETTER AND CLAIM YOUR GUIDE HERE!In this episode I explain why Harry can't see thestrals. Enjoy!Summary: Harry has seen his fair share of death throughout his life. However, the magical creatures known as thestrals were only started being visible in his fifth year. As you know, when a person sees death, they can see thestrals. Btu Harry only saw them after Cedric was killed. Why? Well, maybe Harry actually didn't see death. He could have blinked right when the killing curse hit whom ever it was intended to hit. That is a solid argument for about four seconds when we realize the mental acceptance is what counts. When someone sees death and fully accepts it happened, thestrals will appear to them. I want to stay on that topic for a second. I don't think Harry fit those requirements. When his mother was killed it happened right on front of him, yes, but he was only one. As a baby, death might not be a fully formed concept in his mind. But what about Quirrel? Harry was much older and Quirrel died right in front of him. This could be explained, because I don't think Quirrel fully died. Keep in mind, Quirrel and Voldemort were very close and seemed to be the same person. You get it? Voldemort survived! He flew off right before Quirrel died so he wouldn't follow. Only half of that life force was killed. It was only when Cedric was killed when Harry realized. His friend was dead. And there was no going back.Gmail:ThePotterDiscussion@gmail.comInstagram:@thepotterdiscussionWebsite: https://www.thepotterdiscussion.buzzsprout.com
Lore Boys are back, this time with some more Hollow Knight story. We're talking Quirrel, Hornet, Cloth, Zote, the girl with the orange fog, the Pale King, the Dreamers, the Mantis Lords, and pretty much all the characters with the coolest names. We talk about the Dream, what is Soul, or Void, or The Infection -- sometimes called the plague. Who was the Pale King? What are Wyrms in Hollow Knight? Did the Pale King make sweet love to a Spider and get his head chewed off for it? You gotta listen to the episode to learn what happened behind the scenes in Hollow Knight. We had a lot of fun making this one -- Hollow Knight lore is so rich and fulfilling, and we hope you'll like it to.As always, we super appreciate you listening, and hope that if you enjoy the show you'll tell your friends and leave us a review on iTunes and the rest our social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.) We wanna hear from you guys, so shoot us an email at loreboyspodcast@gmail.com or crawl into a nightmarish realm of bugs and delve so deep you awaken in a dream, with our three faces staring at you. Welcome to The Chamber of Secrets! We had to skip the last chapter of Sorcerer's Stone because it was deemed too scary, so if you're wondering what happened to Harry as he entered the final room protecting the Stone, well, sorry, we constantly spoiled that big reveal through the entire reading of Sorcerer's Stone (it was Quirrel all along!). Don't worry, Griffindor wins the House Cup! In part 2 of my interview with tech activist Lynn Cyrin, we discuss anti-Black racism at Facebook, Google, Dropbox and Reddit. Lynn explains why Facebook won't change its "real names" policy and how Quirrel (the social network she is building with CollectQT) will be better/queer-friendlier.
