Welcome to another wild ride on "And Now We Drink," where host Matt Slayer sits down with the ever-captivating Victoria Malfoy, who is getting ready to make the big move from San Diego to Hollywood for exciting work opportunities. As they settle in with some well-mixed cocktails, they dive into the often-chaotic nuances of life in Los Angeles. Victoria, who is known for her engaging ASMR and sultry audio productions, shares the unique ins and outs of her work, offering listeners an intriguing glimpse into her creative world. She talks about the challenges and interesting facets of voice acting, and even delves into the dynamics of interacting with an internet audience, where love and criticism come hand in hand. The conversation takes a delightful detour into sci-fi territory as they debate the realities of self-driving cars, reminisce about classic films like "I, Robot," and explore the technology predictions that have come to life—or not—from movies past. And as always, Matt and Victoria keep it real, discussing everything from the complexities of artificial intelligence to the social implications of online spaces and unexpected fandoms. As the drinks keep flowing, the pair candidly discuss their personal experiences with substances like THC and alcohol, revealing stories that range from travel runs-ins to tequila-fueled teenage escapades. And if you've ever wondered about the impact of ADHD medication, tune in for a laugh as they exchange personal anecdotes and foibles about dealing with attention spans and productivity hacks. For an episode as hilarious as it is eye-opening, join Matt Slayer and Victoria Malfoy on a conversational journey that's sure to entertain and maybe even make you think a bit more deeply about the world around you. Die Harry-Potter-OperWie schön wäre bitte eine Harry-Potter-Oper? Eine Arie von Snape kurz vor seinem Tod? Mega! Findet zumindest Martin. Sophia sieht das allerdings ganz anders. The Potter Discussion: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World Fandom
Send us a textIn this episode, we discuss what role the set might play in the new Harry Potter TV show. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· Read the interview with Lox Pratt | See the new leaked set photos· 1:43 So what did Lox Pratt say? He gave us the insight that the TV show would go into Draco's home and perhaps show us another side to the professors as well.· 8:14 There were also leaked photos of the set. The first photo is a house, the second a timetable, and the third a courtyard. There are some interesting details that might point to some features of the Harry Potter TV show. The house is labeled for an old couple, and seeing as it is only for the first season, that might be the Flamel residence?· 19:34 Location vs. Set. The location is literally where the characters are, but the set is where and how the scenes take place. How should we feel? Why are the characters making these choices? Those are the questions a good set can tell us. With scenes at Malfoy Manor, Draco has an opportunity to show us how he really feels. Imagine how much we would learn in a scene with Draco walking the grounds of his house in the summer.· 25:02 Is this getting too complex? We are seeing so many peaks behind the curtain, and without the finished product to put it all together, it's hard to see the whole picture. With so many new sets and characters added, the filmmakers are now walking the line between two similar to the films and too complex for audiences to understand. I don't think it will be too complex in the end, but you never know.Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text.

Nick is joined by John Granger and special guest star Guido in their temporary headquarters as they await the move to Granger Towers. We discuss the revelation that J. K. Rowling has an inherited blood clotting disorder, and speculate that this could be von Willebrand Disease, and discuss what this could mean for a Golden Thread that John first explored more than five years ago. Nick surveys the instances of blood in all her published work, and John identifies a theme that Nick has missed - the Eucharist. Could this be the key to understanding the final narrative arch of the Strike series?Links Discussed in this Episode:The revelation of J. K. But as we know, he managed to overcome those qualms seven years later. In the second week of November, Joan's chemotherapy caused her white blood cell count to plummet dangerously, and she was admitted to hospital. She'd only once in her life had to face the possibility that she might be pregnant, and could still remember the relief that had flooded her when it became clear that she wasn't, and wouldn't have to face still more contact with strangers, and another intimate procedure, more blood, more pain.“But there was something bloodless about the man. She could see Lin's bloodstained legs, which weren't moving. They committed nine murders in all, one of them of a pregnant actress, and those young women were right in the thick of the action, ignoring the victims' pleas for mercy, dipping their fingers in the victims' blood to scrawl – Jesus,' said Strike, with a startled laugh, as he remembered a detail he'd forgotten, ‘they wrote “pigs” on the wall as well. There was also a partial footprint that had clearly been made while the blood was still liquid.'The back wall broke the monotony of the sea of silver, because it displayed many antique aprons and sashes embroidered in gold, and Robin's eye lingered on an apron embroidered with a bloody severed head, held up by a single hand.‘Yeah, somefing like… an' 'e dropped 'is doob tube, remember, Daz? Maybe that was deliberate. Maybe they didn't want blood seeping out under the vault door.'As Strike watched, life and blood started to drain from the brindle, its legs twitching ever more feebly as blood flooded from its jugular.Robin took the turn into the road at speed, then looked sideways at Strike, one of whose hands was pressed to his inner thigh, blood seeping through his fingers. The bodies of Jim Todd and a woman Strike assumed to be his mother, Nancy, were lying on the dirty carpet in a foul miasma encouraged by the gas fire that continued to blaze. Todd, who was fully dressed, had been stabbed multiple times. His now black blood had soaked his shirt and the floor beneath himBlood now gushing from his head wound, Strike succeeded in grabbing the wrist of Griffiths' knife-holding hand, then slammed it down on the rough concrete floor,He could feel a weird coldness, as though flesh that had never been exposed to fresh air was meeting it for the first time, and this contrasted unpleasantly with the continuing flow of warm blood.Possibly combining heavy blood loss and neat whisky hadn't been the very best idea, Strike was prepared to concede that now, but he had to keep talking, because he wanted the man to know he knew. The IckabogThe word “Blood” appears 11 times.‘If Beamish was half-eaten, why wasn't there more blood?' asked the second.soldiers who'd been sent back to the marsh to find out what happened to Private Nobby Buttons had discovered nothing but his bloodstained shoes, a single horseshoe, and a few well-gnawed bones. Finally, the same man cut off the head of one of the hens and made sure plenty of blood and feathers was spread around, before breaking down the side of the coop to allow the rest of the chickens to escape. In hundreds, Ickabogs were slain, Our blood poured on the land like rain, Our ancestors like trees were felled And still men came to fight us.The Christmas PigThe word “Blood” appears 2 times. They all seemed to be bits of humans. Some were mouths: one was loudly chewing gum and others smoking stinking cigarettes, which made the glowing red dots and the nasty smell. There were noses, ears, a single finger, its nail chewed to a bloody stub, several oozing spots which were so disgusting Jack could barely look at them, and a couple of fists, which were pounding the ground in a menacing fashion as though they couldn't wait to start hitting someone. The Cursed ChildThe word “Blood” appears 22 times.ALBUS (with power and strength) No, you need to listen to me, you said it yourself – how much blood is on my father's hands. Let me help you change that. Let me help correct one of his mistakes. Trust me.POLLY CHAPMAN The Blood Ball of course – who you – the Scorpion King, are taking to the Blood Ball.POLLY CHAPMAN Mudbloods of course. In the dungeons. Your idea, wasn't it? What's going on with you? Oh Potter, I've got blood on my shoes again . . .DRACO We were capable of having children, but Astoria was frail. A blood malediction, a serious one. An ancestor was cursed . . . it showed up in her. You know how these things can resurface after generations . . .Fantastic Beasts (Screenplay)The word “Blood” appears 2 times.Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of GrindelwaldThe word “Blood” appears 20 times.A baby Chupacabra—part lizard, part homunculus, a blood-sucking creature of the Americas—is chained to GRINDELWALD'S chair.SKENDER Once trapped in the jungles of Indonesia, she is the carrier of a blood curse. Such Underbeings are destined, through the course of their lives, to turn permanently into beasts. We see TEENAGE DUMBLEDORE and TEENAGE GRINDELWALD facing each other in a barn. Both score their palms with their wands. Now bleeding, they interlace their hands . . .DUMBLEDORE turns his head away, fighting the impulse to cover the glass again. Bracing himself, he looks up.From their bloody palms rise two glowing drops of blood, which mingle and merge to create one. A metal shape begins to form around the droplet, becoming more defined and intricate. It is GRINDELWALD'S vial.NEWT It's a blood pact, isn't it? You swore not to fight each other.Fantastic Beasts and the Secrets of DumbledoreDumbledore stares at him, then slowly brings a hand into view and reveals: the BLOOD TROTH. As he cradles it, its chain slowly slithers between Dumbledore's fingers, as if alive.Theseus nods, eyeing the troth, watching as the DROPLETS OF BLOOD circle one another like weights in a clock. The blood troth flashes red and flies free, caroming off the floor and to the wall. As he draws his wand, taking aim, the troth's chain, still tethered to his arm, constricts, burrowing deep into his flesh.CREDENCE I'm a Dumbledore. You abandoned me. Does the arrangement between Firenze and Trelawney to both teach Divination make sense? Was Snape really going to attack Harry? (All signs point to yes!) Crackpot Theory: Is Snape only being as awful as ever to Harry because Malfoy, now a Death Eater, is watching? Is Horace Slughorn... a good teacher?! His first lesson seems amazing. Send us a textIn this episode, we analyze the Malfoy family and discuss what should be carried over into the TV show. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· 1:53 Something has to change. I'm not saying something is wrong, that's just a fact. The books are the books and the films are the films. The TV has to show us something new, and that will mean they have to change something. They can either put in more, or less. More would make them worse and more potent, and less would draw the curtain back a little and show us a softer side to them.· 11:03 Lucius is terrible. Should we keep that? I think we should, but not for the reason you might expect. We saw enough in the films to understand that there is so much more under the surface than we might imagine. I want to see more of that.· 14:53 Narissa is the good guy. Should we keep that? For her, it might be worth a change. We don't know her as well because she was introduced later in the story, so if we can change some moments around to gain more perspective on her sooner, that might be more valuable. · 19:41 Draco is the victim. Keep that? For sure. There isn't much wrong with how he was portrayed. We got more of those deep, vulnerable scenes from him that really show us who he is. Draco is under immense pressure when Voldemort orders him to kill Dumbledore, and that should be preserved.· 25:17 More Malfoy inner workings. We didn't get many scenes where the three Malfoys were interacting with each other outside of other company, and those kinds of scenes might be the most important in terms of understanding who they are as a family.Having anything you want to hear or say? Theatre and magic collide as Erik Christopher Peterson kicks off a seven-episode Harry Potter and the Cursed Child cast takeover on the podcast. In this deep-dive conversation, Erik reflects on growing up with a theatre educator dad, trading in his baseball glove for the stage, and eventually making his Broadway debut as Scorpius Malfoy. He shares the inspiration behind some of his original plays (like the hilariously surreal The Tragedy of Clownpheus and EuridIceCream), how Shakespeare continues to influence his work, and the joy of building his version of Scorpius eight shows a week. Erik talks about navigating the illusion-heavy world of Cursed Child, from mastering time turners and flaming trolleys to discovering emotional nuance in the show's father-son themes and the beautifully complex friendship between Scorpius and Albus. He opens up about performance anxiety, self-care, and the unexpected fan art that continues to move him. It's a candid, heartfelt look at what it means to debut on Broadway in one of its most technically complex productions. Erik Christopher Peterson is a writer, director, and actor whose credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, Othello, and several original plays he co-created, such as The Tragedy of Clownpheus and EEuridIceCream. He graduated from Webster University and currently stars as Scorpius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. The Potter Discussion: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World Fandom
Send us a textIn this episode, we flip the script and discuss how the story would change if Harry was sorted into Slytherin. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· Listen to episode 285 about the new cast for the trio here!· 2:13 Harry and Draco are going to become friends. They both have difficult families, and are somewhat alone in the world. They can connect with each other, because the one thing they both want more than anything is a relationship. Harry has no friends or family, and Draco's family doesn't care for him. This would create the perfect environment for them to become friends.· 10:47 Dumbledore and Voldemort's strategies would have been different. Dumbledore has Harry in his circle in the original story, so it is easy for him to reach out. Voldemort is far removed from Harry and spends his time trying to get at him. If Harry was in Slytherin, Voldemort might try to make a relationship with Harry and Dumbledore would have to work hard to get messages and ideas across to Harry. · 17:52 Harry would feel more disconnected from his parents. Being in their same house is really how he can feel close to them, but if he isn't in the same house, that wouldn't be the case. The people he meets as a Gryffindor can tell him what they were like, but without them, most of his parents is lost to time.· 23:11 Harry's relationship with Sirius would be very different. If Harry is basically a Death Eater, he would be thrilled with Sirius when he breaks out. When he learns that that supporter of Voldemort is his godfather, that would be the best day of his life. Learning that Sirius wasn't a supporter of Voldemort would be a nasty shock. For Sirius, he would be devastated to learn that James and Lily's son is in Slytherin and part of a Death Eater family.Having anything you want to hear or say? The Potter Discussion: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World Fandom
Send us a textIn this episode, we discuss the recent casting of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and who should be cast next. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· 2:36 The Deadline article said Malfoy, Cho Chang, and Cedric Diggory were more prized roles. Really? Chang and Diggory cover only a few books. Malfoy is an important casting, however. The actor has to understand how little Malfoy understands about himself.· 10:19 Neville has a long arc, and one that should be thoroughly explored. We need an actor who can show just how much Neville learns, but also how much heart he has from the beginning.· 14:29 The Weasley family should fall into place now that we have Ron. Every one of them has a big part in the story and we should have them soon. Ginny might even be improved upon because of how fiery she was painted into the story, but how mild she came across in the film.· 19:09 The Dursley family should be terrible. I want to watch the first season and really hate the Dursleys. In the films, they're certainly mean, but we don't dislike them as much as we could. The moment when Hagrid takes Harry to Hogwarts would be so much sweeter if he was escaping from a terrible family.· 22:38 Voldemort. If the whole first episode is focused on Voldemort, that would be a major victory. He has an ancient air about him that suggests he has been through a lot, and he is willing to kill to achieve his goals. Ralph Fiennes is the perfect actor for this, and we need someone with the same deadly calm.Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text. Join Andrew, Eric, Laura and Micah as they discuss the line between bullying and fair play, and analyze whether Umbridge is making enemies of the whole school. News: The Harry Potter TV show on HBO has cast its Snape and McGonagall, and the HP illustrated editions now have their new illustrator. Is he compensating for being an unskilled Quidditch player? Did Umbridge put Draco up to the taunting, in order to get Harry & co. expelled?? is McGonagall's punishment more fitting than Umbridge's? And hey! It looks like Dumbledore has been doing something after all! in banning Harry from Quidditch, does she give Harry more free time to plot against her? Lynx Line: If you had to chant something at Malfoy to distract him while playing Quidditch, what would it be? Quizzitch: What ice hockey player had a rule named after him after he displayed unsportsmanlike tactics in an attempt to intimidate goalie Martin Brodeur, by waving his hands and hockey stick in his face?
