Steam Radiator Ambience — I went to military school in South Carolina in the 90s, it was a bit like Harry Potter sans magic and the Forbidden Forest. We did have impossibly large roaches that appeared in our dorms and they would have befriended Hagrid.Like Hogwarts, our school dorms were ancient, built before world wars. No air conditioning, and steam Radiators in every room. The radiators would come to life in the middle of the night hissing their parseltongues. And I got used to it.
After being dragged through a rip in the time vortex, the TARDIS returns the Doctor, Sarah and Harry to Earth. They are in medieval times, but something strange is afoot. The villagers live in fear of the sinister Brotherhood, an order of monks that upholds the sacred laws. Then there's Faustus Black, with his troupe of travelling players. What connects them is a terrible secret hidden in the Forbidden Forest... a cave from which nobody has ever returned... **Please note: the collector's edition double CD is strictly limited to 1,500 copies**

Chapter 6 - The Journey From Platform Nine and Three-QuartersFF: Not who Hedwig is named after, but Saint Hedwig of Andechs (1174–1243), Duchess of Silesia, is the patron saint of orphans.Q1 - Is Hagrid an idiot for not showing Harry how to get on the platform? He passed a round-faced boy who was saying, “Gran, I've lost my toad again.”“Blimey,” said the other twin. “Aren't you —?” “He is,” said the first twin. “Aren't you?” he added to Harry.” “What?” said Harry. “Harry Potter,” chorused the twins. “Oh, him,” said Harry. “I mean, yes, I am.”They leant out of the window for her to kiss them goodbye and their younger sister began to cry. “Don't, Ginny, we'll send you loads of owls.” “We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat.” “George.” “Only joking, mum.”Q2 - What is your first impression of the Weasley family?Houses flashed past the window. Harry felt a great leap of excitement. He didn't know what he was going to — but it had to be better than what he was leaving behind.“Are all your family wizards?” asked Harry, who found Ron just as interesting as Ron found him. “Er — yes, I think so,” said Ron. “I think mums got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we never talk about him.”Q3 - What is your first impression of Ron?Q4 - What sweet sounds the best?Bertie Botts Every Flavor BeanDroobles Best Chewing GumChocolate FrogsPumpkin PastiesCauldron CakesLiquorice Wands“Go on, have a pasty,” said Harry, who had never had anything to share before or, indeed, anyone to share it with. It was a nice feeling, sitting there with Ron, eating their way through all Harry's pasties and cakes (the sandwiches lay forgotten).Q5 - Is 500 chocolate frog cards an alarming amount of chocolate frogs to eat? When they shook their heads, he wailed, “I've lost him! He keeps getting away from me!” “He'll turn up,” said Harry.Q6 - First impressions of Hermione Granger?“You'll soon find out some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there.” He held out his hand to shake Harry's, but Harry didn't take it. “I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks,” he said coolly.Q7 - What do you think of Scabbers the rat's bravery in biting Goyle's knuckle?Chapter 7 - The Sorting Hat“Welcome to Hogwarts,” said professor MGonagall“There's nothing hidden in your head the sorting hat can't see.”Q1 - If you had to create a way for students to be sorted into their houses without using the sorting hat, what would you do?Q2 - So what house are you?Q3 - Why do you think it took so long to sort Seamus Finnigan and Neville Longbottom?“You could be great, you know, it's all here in your head, and slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that — no? Well, if you're sure — better be Gryffindor!”Q4 - Why do you think Harry nearly got sorted into Slytherin?“Before we begin out banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!”“Is he — a bit mad?” he asked Percy uncertainly. “Mad?” said Percy airily. “He's a genius! Best wizard in the world! But he is a bit, yes. Potatoes, Harry?”Q5 - Do you know what mint humbugs are?Q6 - Where do you think these ghosts come from?It happened suddenly. The hook-nosed teacher looked past Quirrell's turban straight into Harry's eyes — and a sharp, hot pain shot across the car on Harry's forehead.Everybody finished the song at different times. At last, only the Weasley twins were left singing along to a very slow funeral march. Dumbledore conducted their last few lines with his wand, and when they had finished, he was one of those who clapped loudest. “Ah, music,” he said, wiping his eyes. “A magic beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot.”Q7 - Do you know what a poltergeist is?Chapter 8 - The Potions MasterQ1 - If you had a scar, where would you want it and what would you want it of?Q2 - Do you think Harry is going to get married? If so, do you think he'd marry any of the people who were introduced in the book so far?At the start-of-term Banquet, Harry had got the idea that Professor Snape disliked him. By the end of the first Potions lesson, he knew he'd been wrong. Snape didn't dislike Harry — he hated him.Q3 - Do you think there's any reason why Snape would hate Harry or is just one of those let-me-pick-a-student-to-be-mean-to-on-the-first-day kind of thing?Q4 - Is Fang a boar or a dog?Q5 - First impression of McGonagall and Snape?Chapter 9 - The Midnight DuelHarry had never believed he would meet a boy he hated more than Dudley, but that was before he met Draco Malfoy.Q1 - Would you like to have a remembrall?Q2 - So far in the Hogwarts experience, what event/class would you be most excited for and why?WHAM! — a thus and a nasty crack and Neville lay, face down, on the grass in a heap. His broomstick was still rising higher and higher and started to drift lazily toward the Forbidden Forest and out of sight.Q3 - Was it Nevilles issue for falling off his broom or was it his broomstick?Harry saw, as though in slow motion, the ball rise up in the air and then start to fall. He leant forward and pointed his broom handle down — next second he was gathering speed in a steep dive, racing the ball — wind whistled in his ears, mingles with the screams of people watching — he stretched out his hand — a foot from the ground he caught it, just in time to pull his broom straight, and he toppled gently on to the grass with the Remembrall clutched safely in his hand.Q4 - What did you initially think was going to happen to Harry after McGonagall caught him flying?“Wood?” Thought Harry, bewildered; was Wood a cane she was going to use on him?Q5 - Is it a bit too early to make Harry Seeker after one nice catch of a Remembrall?Q6 - Would you like to learn how to fly on a broom?“And what if I wave my wand and nothing happens?” “Throw it away and punch him on the nose,” Ron suggested.Q7 - What are your thoughts on Draco Malfoy?“What do they think they're doing, keeping a thing like that locked up in a school?” Ron said finally.Q8 - Is Hogwarts really safe…like really?Q9 - Does Steak and Kidney pie actually sound good?
Chapter 14 - Norbert The Norwegian Ridgeback“But there aren't wild dragons in Britain?” said Harry. “Of course there are,” said Ron. “Common Welsh Green and Hebridean Blacks. THe Ministry of Magic has a job hushing them up, I can tell you. Our lot have to keep putting spells on Muggles who've spotted them, to make them forget.”Q1 - Now that you'd know but do you think the Ministry of Magic has ever put a memory spell on you?Q2 - On your first read, did you think Snape was the one who was going after the stone?Q3 - How much brandy and chicken blood do you think Hagrid went through to feed Norbert?“Wonder what it's like to have a peaceful life?” Ron sighed.Harry suddenly turned to Ron. “Charlie,” he said. “You're losing it, too,” said Ron. “I'm Ron, remember?”Chapter 15 - The Forbidden ForestIt was the first time Hermione has ever failed to answer a teacher's question. She was staring at her slippers, as still as a statue.Q1 - Do you really think McGonagall has never heard of four students out of bed before?Q2 - At this point in the book were you convinced Snape was the main assailant to Quirrel? Would you have bet 12 sorcerer's stones?Q3 - Is a punishment of going in the forbidden forest too extreme for any students?“I want fang,” said Malfoy quickly, looking at Fang's long teeth. “All right, but I warn yeh, he's a coward,” said Hagrid.Q4 - Is it weird that Hagrid goes by Hagrid and not Ruebeus?“Always the innocent are the first victims,” he said, “So it has been for ages past, so it is now.”Yet again, Ronan took a while to answer. At last, he said, “The Forest hides many secrets.”Q5 - How much do you think Centaurs know? “The planets have been read wrongly before now, even by centaurs. I hope this is one of those times.”Chapter 16 - Through the TrapdoorQ1 - Do you think you could make a pineapple tapdance across the classroom?“I think it's a warning…it means danger's coming.”“Neville will play quidditch for England before Hagrid lets Dumbledore down.”Q2 - What do you think Dumbledore does on a day to day basis?“You can't!” said Hermione. “After what McGonagall and Snape have said? You'll be expelled!” “SO WHAT?” Harry shouted. “Don't you understand? If Snape gets hold of the Stone, Voldemort's coming back! “I'll use the Invisibility Cloak,” said Harry. “It's just lucky I got it back.” “But will it cover all three of us?” said Ron.“I won't let you do it,” he said, hurrying to stand in front of the portrait hole. “I'll — I'll fight you.” He took a step forward and Neville dropped Trevor the toad, who leapt out of sight. “Go on then, try and hit me!” said Neville, raising his fists, “I'm ready!”Q3 - What are your thoughts on Neville?“HAVE YOU GONE MAD?” Ron bellowed. “ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?”Q4 - What do you think was the level of difficulty for that chess game?“But Harry — What if You-Know-Who's with him?” “Well — I was lucky once, wasn't I?” said Harry, pointing at his scar. “I might get lucky again.” Hermione's lip trembled and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him. “Hermione!” “Harry — you're a great wizard, you know.” “I'm not as good as you,” said Harry, very embarrassed, as she let go of him. “Harry took a deep breath and picked up the smallest bottle. He turned to face the black flames. “Here I come,” he said and he drained the little bottle in one gulp.Q5 - Which was your favorite test?Q6 - If you could add a test to the group, what would you do?Chapter 17 - The Man With Two FacesQ1 - When you first read this, did you expect that it was going to be Quirrell?“He was at Hogwarts with your father, didn't you know? They loathed each other. But he never wanted you dead”“There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it.”Q2 - What do you think Voldemort is at this moment?“How touching…” it hissed. “I always value bravery…Yes, boy, your parents were brave…I linked your father first and he put up a courageous fight…but your mother needn't have died…she was trying to protect you…Now give me the stone, unless you want her to have died in vain.”And other voices, maybe in Harry's own head, crying, “Harry! Harry!”“What happened down in the dungeons between you and Professor Quirrel is a complete secret, so, naturally, the whole school knows.”Q3 - How much elixir do you really think the Flamels have stored?Q4 - Thoughts on Dumbledore?“To one as young as you, I'm sure it seems incredible, but to Nicholas and Perenelle, it really is like going to bed after a very, very long day. After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”Q5 - What do you think Dumbledore means when he says the above quote?“The truth,” Dumbledore sighed. “It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.”“Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn't realize that love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves it's own mark. Not a scar, no visible sign…to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection for ever. It is in your very skin.”Q6 - Do you think Dumbledore meant for Harry to go after Voldemort?“Sent owls off ter all ter parents old school friends, askin fer photos…knew yeh didn't have any…d'yeh like it?” Harry couldn't speak, but Hagrid understood.Q7 - How rigged is the point system?“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award ten points to Mr Neville Longbottom.”

Our AI overlords (ChatGPT) bequeathed us another random chapter to revisit and this time it's Book 1's ‘The Forbidden Forest'. It's all of the whimsey of the first book with a nice jolt of terrifying shit deep in the heart of the school's most irresponsible detention assignment. We get a fight and we get flight. Harry, Hermione and Umbridge are heading out to the Forbidden Forest looking for the 'weapon' in an attempt to get rid of Umbridge. However, the plan backfires until Hargid's half-brother comes along and then hosts David and Kyle wonder if they'll ever see him again in the series? Plus, Harry is still honed in on the Department of Mysteries and makes the escape to London on deathly wings.
Please be respectful as you enter this simple abode. Rubeus Hagrid, a man of few words, cultivates tranquility; this is his refuge from the whirlwind of activity at Hogwarts. Settle yourself near the crackling fire – the Forbidden Forest can be damp and chilly. The copper kettle is already heating, and your host has prepared a proper tea. Please butter your toast and help yourself to the clotted cream and lemon curd. Can you feel the serenity that blankets the Gamekeeper's hut like an invisibility cloak? Only the crickets and night birds intrude upon this safe space. Fang, Hagrid's faithful sentry, is on duty. Rest now under his watchful protection. ---

In this listener suggested episode, we discuss the funniest characters and moments in Harry Potter. Enjoy!Summary/Topics:· 2:26 #7 Kingsley Shacklebolt. The reason why Kingsley is so far up on the list is his famous line: “You may not like it, but Dumbledore's got style.” It is just perfect. The perfect ending to such an intense scene where Dumbledore is threatened with Azkaban. He is part of the Ministry, but he is also part of the Order.· 8:03 #6 Ron Weasley. It should come as no surprise that Ron is on this list. I'm sorry to say he gets progressively less funny as the films go on. That's not because Rupert's acting took a dive, but because his lines work for a young kid the best, like in the Forbidden Forest when he asks Harry permission to start panicking or when he is freaking out while being strangled by the devil snare down the trap door. · 14:20 #5 Filch. Everything about Filch in the films are perfect. Even when he is trying to be menacing and scare the students, Filch has some pretty funny physical comedy. One of my favorites is when Filch runs into the Great Hall in the Deathly Hallows screaming, “Students out of bed! Students in the corridors!” It was the peak of his career, but to no avail because they were supposed to be there.· 19:55 #4 Dumbledore. This is a deserving spot right here. But what makes Dumbledore so funny? In my opinion, it is his age. He is well past 110 in the story, but he still has such a young soul. He is a glass half full kind of person, and that shows with the cheerful way he takes his defeats. “Alas, ear wax.” He is calm when talking about quite consequential events that makes his every line so funny.· 24:17 #3 Neville. Neville is such an innocent character who has some very cool lines. When he collapses the bridge in the Deathly Hallows, we think at first that Neville died. But he pulls himself over the edge and says, “That went well.” Similarly in the Goblet of Fire, Harry eats the gillyweed and jumps in the water and Neville starts to panic. “Oh my god! I've killed Harry Potter!”· 29:40 #2 Hagrid. What a funny character. First of all, he is so kind and caring for all of his friends, but that doesn't stop him from making the occasional funny mistake. When the trio and him are talking about the trap door, Hagrid accidentally tells them how they can get past Fluffy and delivers the famous “I should not have said that.” He also has had some other good ones that make his character pop. · 33:12 #1 Professor McGonagall. Without a single doubt, McGonagall is the funniest character in the entire series. Maggie Smith is the perfect actress, she received many of the good lines, and she was funny in the books. This combination makes up the perfect mixture of comedy that creates the funniest character in the entire series. “Boom!”Having anything you want to hear or say? "It was the unicorn all right, and it was dead. Harry had never seen anything so beautiful and sad.” To me, this sight is at the crux of the discourse about children's literature and contested content. This image, the purity and defenselessness of children's innocence, is what's being invoked by all sides." - Ep. 1.15 For full show notes, transcripts, ways to contact the hosts or support the show, and more, visit hpafter2020.com.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're discussing WHY Severus Snape didn't show up in the Forbidden Forest when Harry used the Resurrection Stone.Throughout the final instalment of the Harry Potter series, we learn all about the three ancient magical artefacts that together are known as the Deathly Hallows. And even though Harry, Ron and Hermione originally write these mythical items off as simply part of a children's bedtime story, they eventually discover that they are all too real. And while together they are known as the Deathly Hallows, individually, they are made up of the Elder Wand—otherwise known as the most powerful wand to have ever existed—the Cloak of Invisibility—which hides the wearer against even the most advanced magic—and the Resurrection Stone—an item capable of bringing the dead back to the world of the living. Chapter 15 - The Forbidden ForestIt was the first time Hermione has ever failed to answer a teacher's question.

Chapter 8 - The Potions MasterQ1 - If you had a scar, where would you want it and what would you want it of?Q2 - Do you think Harry is going to get married? He leant forward and pointed his broom handle down — next second he was gathering speed in a steep dive, racing the ball — wind whistled in his ears, mingles with the screams of people watching — he stretched out his hand — a foot from the ground he caught it, just in time to pull his broom straight, and he toppled gently on to the grass with the Remembrall clutched safely in his hand.Q4 - What did you initially think was going to happen to Harry after McGonagall caught him flying?“Wood?” Thought Harry, bewildered; was Wood a cane she was going to use on him?Q5 - Is it a bit too early to make Harry Seeker after one nice catch of a Remembrall?Q6 - Would you like to learn how to fly on a broom?“And what if I wave my wand and nothing happens?” “Throw it away and punch him on the nose,” Ron suggested.Q7 - What are your thoughts on Draco Malfoy?“What do they think they're doing, keeping a thing like that locked up in a school?” Ron said finally.Q8 - Is Hogwarts really safe…like really?Q9 - Does Steak and Kidney pie actually sound good?Chapter 10 - Hallowe'enQ1 - Is it shady that McG has bought a Nimbus Two Thousand — the current best broomstick in the world — for Harry?“Potter's been sent a broomstick, Professor,” said Malfoy quickly. “Yes, yes, that's right,” said Professor Flitwick, beaming at Harry. “Professor McGonagall told me all about the special circumstances, Potter. And what Model is it?” “A Nimbus Two Thousand, sir,” said Harry, fighting not to laugh at the look of horror on Malfoy's face. “And it's really thanks to Malfoy here that I've got it,” he added.Q2 - Is the Snitch worth too many points?Ron looked still more awkward at this [news Hermione was crying and wanted to be left alone], but a moment later they had entered the Great Hall, where the Hallowe'en decorations put Hermione out of their minds.Q3 - What position would you want to play in Quidditch?Q4 - Theories on how on earth someone could smuggle a troll into the castle?Q5 - Why didn't Hermione tell the truth?Q6 - Is five points a little too skimpy for two first years taking on a mountain troll and winning?Q7 - The point system at Hogwarts seems absolutely arbitrary, do you think there is a rule book for the point system? But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing the history of the Black Lake, as well as one of its most mysterious and infamous inhabitants--the giant squid. The Black Lake--otherwise known as the Great Lake--is a large body of fresh water that sits landlocked upon the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, just south of the school's castle. Its waters can be seen directly from the castle, as it is located below the school itself. For those of you who are familiar with the other wilderness areas that surround Hogwarts castle, such as the Forbidden Forest, it is rather well known that the school's grounds offer a home to many magical beasts and creatures. Acting as more than just the castle's plumbing receptacle, the Black Lake is no exception, granting shelter to a large number of inhabitants, including a village of Merpeople, an abundance of vicious little Grindylows, and, of course, the legendary Giant Squid. ...Watch the video for the restSocials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing how it is that Hogwarts Castle and the surrounding grounds are hidden from Muggles and the outside world. When we're first introduced to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry alongside an 11-year-old Harry Potter in The Philosopher's Stone, we learn that a once impoverished and deprived young Harry will be living in a spectacular Scottish castle of old. Described as a huge and sprawling castle that's seven stories high, Hogwarts is complete with one hundred and forty-two staircases, multiple towers, turrets, and even very deep dungeons all built in the Early Middle Ages. As the story progresses, we learn that Hogwarts was founded in the 10th Century by four famed wizards by the names of Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, and that it is regarded by many as the best magical institution in the wizarding world.Sounds pretty impressive, doesn't it? But then, how is it that such a magnificent building--not to mention the sprawling grounds that include the expansive and magical Forbidden Forest--could go unnoticed by neighbouring Muggles? Wir sind im Jahr 1983, der C64 ist noch ein junges, brandheißes Gerät und die allermeisten Genre-Konventionen sind noch nicht etabliert. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Harry's ‘death' from Voldemort's Avada Kedavra in the Deathly Hallows. More specifically, we're going to be diving in and dissecting the nuances of HOW it happened, WHY it happened, and HOW Harry was able to come back to life. To set the scene – we're in the Forbidden Forest and Harry comes face-to-face with Voldemort once again. However, unlike previous confrontations – from his meeting with a fragmented Voldemort attached to Professor Quirrell, to their duel in the graveyard of Little Hangleton – this time Harry does not intend to defend himself or fight back. He's come to die. Fans of the book will remember the chapter as the aptly named “The Forest Again” and movie lovers will certainly know this scene as the one right after Harry sees his dead loved ones through the magic of the Resurrection Stone – one of the three fabled Deathly Hallows. Okay, so what happened? Well, it appears that Harry gets hit with Avada Kedavra- THE KILLING CURSE. It's well reinforced in Harry Potter that ‘Avada Kedavra'- a terrible dark curse that is known to emit a blindingly intense green bolt of light, kills people. In fact, the only function of the spell is to kill. So, how is Harry able to come back from it? Let's get in to it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the complete history of the Forbidden Forest, a common backdrop for important moments throughout the Harry Potter series for both Harry, his friends, AND his enemies. As many of you will remember, the Forbidden Forest is first introduced in The Philosopher's Stone as a scary, dark place where students are not allowed to enter, never mind roam about and explore. Of course, one very large caveat to this rule is if those same students ever find themselves in a bit of trouble. As much as it really makes absolutely NO sense what-so-ever, a punishment bestowed upon multiple students over the years, including Harry, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy in the first installment of the series, is to send them INTO the Forbidden Forest. This form of “detention” is meant to help Hagrid with random duties required in the upkeep of the portion of the Forest that resides on school property. As this was the detention they were given for merely being out of bed after hours, makes one wonder what the punishment would've been for actually going into the Forest…more time spent IN THE FOREST? Like I said…it really doesn't make any sense AT ALL. Anyway, I'd like to start off today's video with a brief summary of the Forbidden Forest as we know it through Harry Potter. Because, although there are many fantastical locations and magical places in which Harry and his friends visit throughout the novels and films alike, it may not be immediately apparent just how important the Forbidden Forest is to the series. Now, it's a very typical trope for an enchanted forest – whether filled with “light” magic or “dark” – to represent a way to achieve transformation for those who enter it. What I mean is that magical forests are often used as a literary device to be a catalyst of change for any number of fictional characters. They enter the forest as one version of themselves, and emerge forever transformed. All this to say that I do, indeed, believe that there are quite a few transformations that take place within the Forbidden Forest, many of which I will get into later in the video. BUT, in my opinion, it's quite evident that the MAIN transformation that takes place in the series is at the very end of the seventh book (which, as many of you will know, is the eighth movie) and is directly related to the protagonist of the story: our dear boy, Harry. What exactly did the Forbidden Forest do to the Flying Ford Anglia? What did the teachers do all day when Ginny Weasley was discovered missing? And, should Hogwarts lock its front door? These questions and more are asked as your MuggleCast hosts delve into Chapters 15 and 16 of Chamber of Secrets on this week's jam-packed Chapter-by-Chapter episode of MuggleCast! Join Andrew, Eric, Laura, Micah, and Slug Club guest Kimberly (who came prepared with some fun HP-themed Valentines greetings) as we near the final chapters of Book 2. Welcome to the show Slug Club guest Kimberly! Is it really Valentine's Day without some Harry-Potter-themed greetings? The hosts are delighted to hear something new. Main Discussion #1: Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 15: Aragog 7-Word Summary: Andrew and Micah devise, "Spiders spiders spiders spiders vroom vroom vroom" Parallels abound between life at Hogwarts without Dumbledore in Book 2, and a similar time for students in Year 7. Should Hogwarts lock its front door at night to prevent students leaving so easily as Harry and Ron do? Harry and Ron are up to their eyes in spiders, and is Dumbledore responsible for their Anglia-driven rescue? Aragog's origins and his tale are explored in depth. In Odds and Ends for Chapter 15, Draco jokes prophetically, the Hufflepuffs come around, Fang gets some relief, and Percy is caught fooling around. Main Discussion #2: Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 16: The Chamber of Secrets 7-Word Summary: Laura and Eric come up with, "Gilderoy is revealed to have no integrity." Is it fair that Hogwarts doesn't (yet) cancel exams for the 1992 school year? Hermione provides Ron and Harry the key to solving the whole puzzle, while unconscious. Her most impressive feat yet! Ginny tries to tell Ron and Harry something, but is interrupted... ...and Lockhart reveals himself to be every bit as incompetent as everybody feared. For once, Ron and Harry brought a teacher into their circle, but it came at a cost. What are the teachers all doing the entire day while Ginny is gone? Would the person who put Hogwarts' plumbing in have discovered the Chamber of Secrets, and (literally) covered it up? Wouldn't it have been better if the tap on the sink had actually functioned? In this episode, I'll attempt to shed light on the relationship between Albus Dumbledore and Hagrid and where Arogag falls into that. How would Dumbledore have treated Hagrid during his time at Hogwarts? Did Dumbledore know Arogag was in the Forbidden Forest? What about 50 years ago? I'll also share a headcanon theory or perhaps borderline fan fiction about how Newt Scamander may or may not have been responsible for Hagrid having Arogag in the first place. I was joined by Fyrebyrd from The Dusty Caldron Podcast to discuss the events in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets chapter 15: Arogag. Link to The Dusty Caldron Podcast website: https://dustycaldronpodcast.com/ Things get a bit hairy for Harry and Ron Weasley in this chapter, with WAY TOO MANY LEGS! With no Hermione, no Dumbledore, and no Hagrid around, and Hogwarts still on lockdown our little duo makes decisions like: sneaking out at night underneath the invisibility cloak to follow spiders into the Forbidden Forest. What could go wrong??? It's not like they'll be kidnapped by giant spiders, nearly eaten, and have to be saved by a sentient car. Right? We also discuss Draco Malfoy's comments that come with a side of foreshadow, Snape as potential headmaster, what Dumbledore would have wanted, make the connection between a Basalisk and Voldemort, and discuss how this chapter really is just a giant eight-legged jump scare with no true impact on the plot of the story. But hey, at least we learn Hagrid and his buddy Arogag were innocent 50 years ago! In this headcanon episode of Belated Binge, I wrap up the discussion from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Chapter 14, Cornelius Fudge by sharing my thoughts on the Expecto Plot-Chango question: What If Harry and Ron DIDN'T let Hermione go off to the library alone when Harry hears the monster? This is my attempt to save Hermione from a giant snake and it goes full on fan fiction! But I couldn't save Penelope Clearwater. Someone had to get petrified after all... But I hope you enjoy this fun new way to get the TRIO down to Hagrid's to still witness Wizarding World politics at their finest! Let me know your thoughts on the question for the next chapter (Arogag): What if Harry and Ron didn't listen to Hagrid and follow the spiders into the Forbidden Forest?
