This week, we're trying the new Thai Yellow Curry and Korean Spicy BBQ chips from Calbee, we're talking about the Findlay Kitchen Fundraiser I'm emceeing and how you can try so many of their products RIGHT HERE in Jungle Jim's, and diving into our first live exit interview with an employee. Ray Jones was one of our head cashiers, and when he moved, I saw an opportunity to do something silly - and that opportunity turned into something sweet and heartfelt, that simultaneously gave us a good insight into the Jungle. Love that. Then, we're joined by Matthew Rolnick of Real American Beer, brother, to talk about their recent event with WWE's Braun Strowman right here at Jungle Jim's, as well as their plans for Real American Beer. As always, reach out to me with your ideas at Podcast@JungleJims.com!

Our card this week is Bobby Ray Jones, the 8 of Clubs from Florida.Bobby Ray Jones had just moved back to Walton County, Florida, in the late summer of 1971. It was a rebirth-of-sorts for this 33-year-old man. After getting caught up in a love affair and running off to Alabama, he had only recently returned to the sunshine state to try and reconcile with his wife. And seemingly, he was on track to do just that. He had already found a new job and a place to stay. Things were starting to turn around. So much so, that on September 29th, he even told his “mama” she had no reason to worry about him… and that he didn't have “an enemy in the world.” But the very next morning, Bobby Ray was murdered… If you have any information about the death of Bobby Ray Jones in Darlington, FL, in 1971, please call the Walton County Sheriff's Office at 850-892-8111, or remain anonymous by calling the Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS (8477) View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/bobby-ray-jones/ Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media.Instagram: @thedeckpodcast | @audiochuckTwitter: @thedeckpodcast_ | @audiochuckFacebook: /TheDeckPodcast | /audiochuckllcTo apply for a Cold Case Playing Card grant through Season of Justice, please visit www.seasonofjustice.org The Deck is hosted by Ashley Flowers. Instagram: @ashleyflowersTikTok: @ashleyflowerscrimejunkieTwitter: @Ash_FlowersFacebook: /AshleyFlowers.AF  Text Ashley at 317-733-7485 to talk all things true crime, get behind the scenes updates, and more!

This past week, the Superior Telegram released it's 24th episode of Archive Dive, which is a monthly history podcast where we “dive” into the archives of historic events, people and places in Superior and Douglas County.  For this month's episode, Telegram reporter Maria Lockwood and local historian and retired librarian Teddie Meronek explore East and Nelson Dewey high schools in Superior as they discuss the building of both schools, how the students and teachers survived the Great Depression and World War II, as well as the rivalry that grew between East High School and Central High School. "I grew up in East End so I remember that it was just like a small town, and the schools in East End weren't built next to businesses, they were built in neighborhoods and they were all surrounded by homes," said Meronek. "East End had a high school, it had a public grade school and two parochial schools, within blocks of each other and their business district included a movie theater and East End had the only branch library — an actual library building — and we had a dime store, dry cleaners and a bank, two drug stores, two hardware stores, restaurants, two hair salons, dentists, doctors. I mean, it was like a small town in itself." You can find that episode at superiortelegram.com or wherever you also get this podcast. You can find addtional episodes here. Bobby Ray Jones Jr. grew up in a two-parent household in Compton, CA. In this episode, I talk with him about how home, sports, academics,  and being an introvert  all helped keep him busy and out of trouble in his youth. Bobby excelled first in track, then in basketball. At the legendary Dominguez High School, he overlapped three years with Tyson Chandler. During Bobby's time, Dominguez won three state titles and, in 2000, the national championship. It was there that he first honed his skills on defense and as a team player; he went on to play for coach and mentor Lorenzo Romar at the University of Washington. He shares about his experience being drafted into the NBA, and we talk about travel and his years playing professionally in Italy. Finally, he talks about the value and importance of giving back to his community. Bobby is now a full-time yoga practitioner and teaches yoga to kids in his hometown.https://www.bobbyrayjonesjr.com

Currently based out of Myalup Beach in Australia, Ray Jones is an established singer and songwriter effortlessly infusing his music with wondrous passion and soul. On his newest song “Another Song”, the artist has put together an inspired mix of classic Americana and folk, all the while creating something entirely original and fresh sounding. His songwriting and cleverness is put directly on display through his lyricism, but we'd be lying if we said that his vocals weren't the real star of the show. In June 2004, 22-year-old Timothy Ray Jones, Jr. met 18-year-old Amber Kyzer. They were married a month after meeting, and over the course of their relationship, had five children: Merah, Elias, Nahtahn, Gabriel, and Abigail. Their marriage was rocky, as Amber was forced to be subservient to her husband due to his religious beliefs. They struggled to care for all of the children while keeping a clean home, and Tim developed some rather aggressive discipline habits where he would force the children to workout until absolute exhaustion if he felt they had done wrong. DSS became involved, but had failed to see the whole picture of what was going on, as they deemed the only problem to be with the cleanliness of the home. Amber and Tim eventually got divorced, and Tim had custody of the children. It seemed as though he was struggling to care for all of them and the home, as Amber had in the past, as well. One day, Nahtahn was accused by Tim of damaging an electrical outlet, causing him to have to endure exhausting physical punishment (running laps around the family home for hours) until he couldn't breathe. Tim went to check on Nahtahn later that night, claiming he had passed away in his sleep. Instead of getting help for Nahtahn, Tim then did the unthinkable. Was all of this because he did not want Amber to have the children, or was it all only because he was just truly mentally ill as he claims? The stereotypes surrounding safeguarding professionals are never helpful. But they are brought into sharper focus after a high profile. The way leaders react makes such a difference. Then the media's response will shape the way the public sees the sector. Is this all just inevitable, or do we each have a part to play? The conversation is worthy of a listen for anyone who works in the world of safeguarding or domestic abuse or who has an interest in it. About Ray Jones: Dr Ray Jones is Emeritus Professor of Social Work at Kingston University and St. George's, University of London, and a registered social worker. From 1992 to 2006 he was director of social services in Wiltshire. He was the first chief executive of the Social Care Institute for Excellence, and has been deputy chair and chair of the British Association of Social Workers. From 2008 to 2016 he was professor of social work at Kingston University and St George's, University of London. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Exeter and at the University of Bath and is an honorary fellow of the University of Gloucestershire. Ray in his own words: When I joined the Armed Forces in 2006 I wanted to fight on the physical battlefields amidst the fog and friction of war, and over the last 10 years I've been able to deliver weapons from the skies above those physical battlefields with lethal precision. But in 2019 the long awaited dream of being a pilot halted and has come to an end, and I was exposed to another battlefield I knew existed but severely under estimated. A warfare that impacts 100% of our armed forces, first responders, and general population, not just those coveted few who kick in doors, and engage the enemy seeing the whites of their eyes. A warfare afoot the emotional battlefield amidst the fog and friction of our hearts. The fight against social pressures, social conformity, finances, bills, debt, addictions, personal and interpersonal relationships, etc. This is our fight. My purpose in life is to now become just as lethal in the fight against hopelessness, anxiety, depression, etc. on the spiritual battlefield, while taking the principles of conventional warfare and target prosecution I previously learned and deliver hope, and encouragement with the same surgical precision as I learned when weaponeering ordnance to release from my aircraft. I'm not interested in learning how to save lives…..I'm INVESTED. #NeverAloneAlwaysForward thewashdownpodcast@gmail.com --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
