Rebecca Larson didn't plan on becoming a real estate lawyer—it just happened. What started as a temporary gig while navigating a tough job market turned into a thriving career in real estate law, and today, Rebecca is the owner of Your Home Legal, a San Diego-based law firm helping buyers, sellers, and investors mitigate risk. In this episode, we visit Rebecca's journey from law school to entrepreneurship, why real estate law is so much more than transactions, and how she built a business that aligns with her expertise and personal commitments.Lawyer Side HustlesRebecca didn't just build a law firm—she built a business. Unlike many attorneys who focus solely on legal work, she took the time to learn the ins and outs of running a profitable practice, from financial management to marketing. This business-minded approach has allowed her to structure her firm in a way that supports both her professional goals and her personal life.“I didn't know how to run a business when I started. Law school doesn't teach you that. But I surrounded myself with mentors, learned my numbers, and built something that works for me,” shares Rebecca Larson in Episode 182 of You Are a Lawyer.Outside of her law practice, Rebecca is deeply involved in real estate coaching and professional development. She believes that lawyers—especially those running their own firms—should invest in business education, whether that's through formal coaching programs or networking with other law firm owners. By treating her practice as both a legal service and a business, she has created a model that allows for long-term sustainability and growth.LISTEN TO LEARNHow Rebecca turned an unexpected opportunity into a successful real estate law careerThe differences between real estate law across states and what lawyers should know before making a moveWhy understanding risk mitigation is essential in real estate transactionsWE ALSO DISCUSSRebecca's transition from Virginia to California and the challenges of re-qualifying as a lawyerThe realities of running a law firm and what it takes to build a business. The importance of mentorship, coaching, and knowing your numbers when starting a practiceThe importance of mentorship, coaching, and knowing your numbers when starting a practiceJoin the FREE mailing list!Get behind-the-scenes content from You Are A Lawyer. 1) Visit www.youarealawyer.com2) Add your email address to the Subscribe pop-up box OR3) Enter your email address on the right side of the screen4) Get emails from me (I won't fill your inbox with junk)!Interact with You Are A LawyerKyla Denanyoh hosts the You Are A Lawyer podcast. Know Your Contracts! Learn Now From An Attorney! Welcome to episode 20 of The Multifamily Millionaire: Real Income From Real Estate with Jason Lee. This week Jason welcomes Rebecca Larson and they discuss exactly why it is so important to have a real estate attorney be apart of your real estate transactions, even in the state of California. Rebecca Larson is a California Real Estate Attorney with a strong background in advanced real estate transactions leveraging her experience as the former owner of a title and settlement company. She is also an attorney in California, graduating from the New England School Of Law. Prior to joining the California Bar in 2019, Attorney Larson was a partner at Redmon, Peyton, & Braswell LLP in Alexandria, Virginia. She and two of her partners owned RPB Title and she was a title insurance producer in Virginia. Rebecca Larson is the owner and principal attorney of Your Home Legal, APC, where she assists clients with resolving real estate disputes, managing risk, and preventing future liability. She is licensed to practice in California, D.C., and Virginia. Here is what to expect on this week's show: How Rebecca ended up becoming involved in both real estate and law. The differences in working within the legal and real estate worlds between Virginia and California. The implications of buyers and sellers being the only ones involved in a contract that usually don't have attorneys (in California). The difference between mediation and arbitration, and why you need to understand what choosing one over the other means for you when conflict arises. Parts of a real estate contract that buyers and sellers often run into trouble with due to a lack of legal knowledge. Why an attorney is necessary in a transaction even if everything is running perfectly smoothly. A story when Rebecca was able to save the day, and a boat load of money, for a client she was working with. Why you need to focus on documenting everything during a transaction. The biggest mistake that Rebecca made that ended up being a blessing in the end. When we began planning episode 103, I don't think we imagined that it would be a themed episode. This episode we were fortunate enough to have both Elizabeth Norton and Leanda de Lisle on to talk about women, or women near the throne. Elizabeth chats with me about queen consorts (oh the fun!), and Leanda is asked YOUR submitted questions on the Grey sisters. Then I teach you a bit about Elizabeth Seymour (sister to Queen Jane) in A Brief History. And, as a treat to all listeners, everyone gets access to Elizabeth Norton's full answers in "IF I Made You Choose" this episode! As patrons you will now (after this episode) receive early access to the answers prior to the public. The Wars of the Roses, or the Cousins Wars, were one of the most deadly and tumultuous times in English history, resulting in the death of many nobles. Today, Rachael Dickzen and I talk about some of the key players of the time: Henry VI, Edward IV, the Kingmaker, and Richard, Duke of York. We also discuss the women of the Wars of the Roses, including Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Margaret of Anjou. We take a look at the family tree of Edward III and how that affected history, and we also touch base on sanctuary and quick executions. Then historian and author Heather Darsie joins us again for Ask the Expert. Today’s topic is Katherine of Aragon (and her family), and we ask Heather the questions you submitted on social media. You’re really going to enjoy this one as Heather once again shatters our idea of what actually happened between the sheets with Katherine and Arthur Tudor. Lastly, Steph joins us again to share with you the story of the amazing Bess of Hardwick - you won’t want to miss this episode….listen in segments if you need to, but be sure to listen to it all. When we look out at the Universe today, we see that it's full of stars and galaxies. And yet, we can only see those stars and galaxies because the space between those galaxies and ourselves doesn't block that starlight before it gets to our instruments, observatories, telescopes, and eyes. But early on, that's an enormous problem: there is light-blocking gas and dust, and the record-holder for most distant galaxy ever discovered is still not a pristine, first-generation galaxy at all. But there are new observatories and cutting-edge techniques that will reveal them, teaching us how the Universe grew up: from a collection of neutral atoms with no stars and galaxies at all to the structure-rich Universe we see today. Joining me on this special, bonus edition of the Starts With A Bang podcast (because don't we all need a bonus?) is extragalactic astronomer and PhD candidate Rebecca Larson from the University of Texas - Austin, in a rich conversation that takes us all the way back to the edge of the Universe as we can observe it. Find out what lies at, and perhaps beyond, our current cosmic frontiers! (Image credit: NASA, ESA, and J. Kang (STScI))

Today we are talking about all things potty and how you can actually potty train your baby in the early days. As a mom of a teen and pre-teen I’m past the years of diapers and potties but I’m thrilled to be able to bring the Potty Plan to my listeners as an alternative to using diapers only. Listen in as we discuss this a parent-led, proactive routine-based method for infant potty training (0-12months). That means – parents take the lead and offer their babies assistance to go to the bathroom following a natural elimination routine. About Rebecca Larsen Rebecca Larsen is a best-selling published picture book author from New Zealand. She lives in Pāpāmoa with her two sons (5 and 7) and Canadian husband. The couple had their children in Canada then moved back to New Zealand to be closer to family. After experimenting with elimination communication techniques, the couple found an approach to infant potty training that was easy to implement, fun and successfully had their boys wearing underwear around 18 months. Both boys quickly learned the routine with success in their first week after birth. They are passionate to share this technique with parents as a mindful alternative approach that fits in well with busy on-the-go modern conscientious parents. @AuthorRebeccaLarsen Web: www.pottyplan.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PottyPlanSupport/ Instagram: @AuthorRebeccaLarsen From the Podcast: Poop Happens!! Welcome to the Tudors Dynasty podcast, I am your host, Rebecca Larson, owner of TudorsDynasty.com and welcome to Queen Elizabeth Month on the show! Elizabeth Tudor has always been on the back-burner for me. While I love the fact that she is the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn I’ve never been as interested in her reign as I have been for her father’s. -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits: Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
