Een hele slechte camera, maar toch is het een leuke gadget. Zeker vanwege de toegankelijke prijs. Voor zo'n vijftig euro kun je de Memo Shot Era krijgen. Het werd oorspronkelijk in de markt gezet als kinderspeelgoed, en zo voelt het product ook aan. De camera is meuk, maar via de app kun je ook foto's printen die je met een smartphone gemaakt hebt. De labels zijn als sticker overal op te plakken, waardoor het een leuke partygadget is. Voor meer dan 53 euro is het zonde van het geld, maar de lage prijs maakt het zeker een overweging aan. De 'Asus ROG Scar Strix 18' is een hele mond vol, maar als je de naam eenmaal goed kan uitspreken in de winkel, krijg je wel één van de krachtigste gaminglaptops die er op dit moment is. Alleen moet je wel geluk hebben dat het apparaat ook op voorraad is. Waarom dat niet altijd het geval is, hoor je van Niels Kooloos in de Schaal van Hebben. Aan de ROG Scar Strix 18 hangt een flink prijskaartje van 4299 euro, mits die dus überhaupt in de schappen ligt. Door de enorme vraag naar de befaamde en krachtige RTX 4090-videookaart van Nvidia, is de laptop zo'n beetje altijd uitverkocht. Dat lijkt bovendien ook niet bepaald minder te worden met de komst van de volgende generatie Nvidia-chips voor gamers. Onder de motorkop van de Strix 18 zit de nieuwste i9-processor van Intel. Die zorgt er samen met de RTX 4090 van Nvidia voor dat je praktisch gezien alle games op de hoogste kwaliteitsinstellingen kan spelen zonder problemen. De kracht van de hardware komt ook goed tot zijn recht dankzij het scherm van de Strix 18. Die laat de beste beelden in een 2K-resolutie zien met een verversingssnelheid van 240 beeldjes per seconde (240 hertz). Maar ook al zitten de beste componenten erin, de Strix 18 is en blijft een gaminglaptop, waardoor de klassieke problemen die daarbij komen kijken nog altijd voorkomen. Zo wordt de Strix 18 flink warm als je aan het gamen bent. Dat is goed te voelen aan je vingers én nog beter te horen met je oren, doordat de koeling flink gaat werken om de boel op een schappelijke temperatuur te houden. De nieuwe iPhone 16e neemt bij Apple de plaats in van de iPhone SE, maar de nieuwe naam en vanafprijs van 719 euro maken deze 'budget'-iPhone een ingewikkelde keuze. Voor wie is de iPhone 16e? De iPhone 16e is uitgerust met een 'e'nkele cameralens, een 'e'fficiënte nieuwe antennechip van eigen ontwerp, een grotere batterij en een ouder ontwerp van de iPhone 14 en 15. Een opvallende functie die ontbreekt: MagSafe. Dat betekent dat de magnetische aansluiting van draadloos-ladende accessoires niet ondersteund worden. Geen gemis als je het nooit gebruikte, een groot gemis als je alleen maar MagSafe-accessoires in huis hebt. Zegt 'MagSafe' je niet zoveel, zoek je een iPhone met een goede accuduur, en vind je een goede camera niet zo belangrijk? Dan is deze 'essential' iPhone wellicht een interessante koop. Maar dan zijn er op de tweedehands markt ook goedkopere iPhones 14 en 15 die misschien wel meer te bieden hebben.
