His favorite cruise line, Virgin Voyages was the host of this journey in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. In Part 2 we finally made it to Iceland and wow, this was the highlight of the cruise. After a relaxing sea day and a quick stop in Lerwick, Shetland Islands, we sailed into Akureyri, where the excursions were some of the best we've ever done. Think rushing down river rapids, visiting Icelandic ponies, and standing in front of incredible waterfalls!From there, we headed to Ísafjörður, a small town tucked between dramatic fjords that instantly felt like stepping into another world. Between the scenery, the fresh air, and the charm of the town itself, this stop completely surprised us!Just like Part 1, we're talking through what was worth it, what wasn't, and what we'd do differently if we went back. This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome Anwar and Lametrius Arif, creators of the Mete and I YouTube channel, Instagram, and Facebook page. As frequent listeners know, I watch cruise YouTube videos incessantly as I work on the podcast seemingly every waking hour—often with the sound down. When a Mete and I video comes on I turn the sound up! Their channel is described as follows. “Our channel is dedicated to love, fun, weight-loss, travel and honesty. This platform will be used to show the world how great married/family life can be. We want to motivate people like us, create memories and to keep our content as transparent as possible.” Mete and I says, “Our cruise adventure began in 2004, and we've been hooked ever since. Over the years, we've set sail on more than 20 unforgettable voyages—each one adding new memories, friendships, and destinations to our journey. For us, cruising is more than just a vacation… it's a lifestyle. Through our YouTube channel, we love sharing that joy with our community, inspiring others to relax, explore, and live fully—one cruise at a time. As of recently we have been exploring other cruise lines.  Our latest cruise was aboard MSC Seashore for our 25th Anniversary this past May. We also sailed the Celebrity Ascent for Reconnecting at Sea in February. Our upcoming Group cruise to Celebration Key sailing 7/29. In February 2026 we are sailing Virgin Voyages (which ship) for my wife's 50th birthday.   Based on Mete and I videos, they always appear to be to be fun-loving and purposeful. Take the time to try something new, something that you really desired, but never got around to ever starting. Virgin Voyages is providing Commander Drew and his lovely wife another great adventure in the Mediterranean Sea. He is such a regular on the Virgin line that he knows the layout of all of their big ships. He is having such a good time he actually had flashbacks to being in the Navy when he volunteered to  participate in an exercise in survival with U.S. Marine Corps that took place on the largest island in Greece, the island of Crete. He had to rough-it for a while but survived the encounter. This time the ship is heading to Crete, but he won't be roughing-it; he will be sitting in the lap of luxury probably lounging somewhere on a beach frequented by the rich and famous, where a simple lunch for two costs about $500.00 (give or take.) For some good news in the world, consider that recent studies suggest that eggs, once cited as unhealthy due to cholesterol, was said in error as egg consumption may actually lower unhealthy (bad)  cholesterol when used as part of a diet low in saturated fat. There is no need to die of loneliness if you have the strength to get out in the world and try something new. Meet a wingman who did a good deed and lifted the spirits of a group of elders   who needed to see a new view of the outside world.

I spent a week on the Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady cruise ship, which actually has an impressive board game collection on board. Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed to May of 2026 in a tradition that has been happening since GTA3. EA lays off 300 employees and cancelled the upcoming game in the Titanfall universe. Polygon has been sold from Vox Media to Valnet, and lays off 2/3rd of their staff. Valnet claims that it will still be the quality that is best for Polygon, despite all of its other sites being click-farms.
