by Patrick BromleyChicago's biggest and best horror convention returns! One of my favorite weekends of the year is Chicago's annual Flashback Weekend, the horror convention created and run by Mike and Mia Kerz that takes place in Rosemont, Illinois. It's three days of panels, parties, contests, vendors, celebrity guests, live music -- everything you could want as a horror fan. This will be my sixth year hosting panels at the convention, but I've been going to Flashback much longer than just these six years. I love it.This year's Flashback features a salute to 30 years of the Scream franchise, celebrates Halloween II, a Night of the Creeps reunion, features first-time Flashback appearances from Henry Thomas, Steven Weber, and the Silent Night, Deadly Night Santas, and even has Obsession co-star Megan Lawless making her convention debut (I get to host her panel on Sunday! Come on out!). Plus, this year sees the world premiere of a brand new Full Moon movie (relevant to my interests!), in-costume photo opps, Alan Howarth playing the score to Halloween II LIVE along with the film, a tribute to Svengoolie (the greatest horror host of all time), and so much more. One of my favorite things about Flashback -- besides all the cool guests and the chance to spend the weekend surrounded by horror stuff and horror fans -- is that it's a family-run convention and really feels that way. All of the proceeds from the con go into supporting the Midway Drive-In located in Dixon, IL -- the nicest and best drive-in in Illinois -- which they bought in 2007. I love that Flashback is dedicated to preserving the big-screen theatrical experience. From this year's press release:Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror ConventionJuly 31 - Aug. 2, 2026Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago, Rosemont, IL  60018 Tickets now on sale at www.flashbackweekend.comFlashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention celebrates its 25th year with a MASSIVE Celebrity guest line-up, amazing evening events, luxurious after-parties, an enormous vendor room, and special Celebrity costume Celeb Photo-Ops.All of this and more, taking place in one of the largest and most beautiful Convention hotels in the World!FLASHBACK WEEKEND 2026 SALUTES;-30 years of SCREAM! Horror Icons! Tribute to the 1980's Golden Age of Horror!"OBSESSION" (2026)!!! Scream 7 - MOVIE REVIEW

MOVIE Morning

Welp, here we go. Scream 7, which comes from franchise creator Kevin Williamson and stars the queen of final girls herself Neve Campbell, is now out in cinemas. Listen, I don't know about you but I'm just glad we can all move on from this movie now that it's finally out. It's a shame because the original Scream is - and always will be - my favorite horror movie of all-time; it was inventive and broke the genre it ways that were needed in 1996 while still showing such love and admiration from it. Scream 7 loses the plot and does not understand what made this franchise great in the first place... and no, I'm not just hating on it because of dumb actions made by studio executives. Listen on to here why Scream 7 is the first truly terrible Scream movie.Scream 7:Directed by: Kevin WilliamsonWritten by: Kevin Williamson and Guy BusickStory by: James Vanderbilt & Guy BusickBased on characters created by: Kevin WilliamsonProduced by: Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, James VanderbiltExecutive Producers: Gary Barber, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillet, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Ben Fast, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, Ben Ormand, Chris Stone, Chad Villella, Kevin WilliamsonMusic by: Marco BeltramiDirector of Photography: Ramsey NickellEdited by: Jim PageCasting by: Rich DeliaProduction Design by: John CollinsCostume Design by: Leigh LeverettCast: Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Roger L. Jackson, Anna Camp Joel McHale, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Asa Germann, Mckenna GraceSynopsis: When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

A quiet town, a ringing phone, and a voice that knows your name—Scream still hits like a cold draft under a locked door. We dive straight into that iconic opener and trace how Wes Craven flipped the slasher on its head without losing the thrill: self-aware teens who know the rules, killers who bleed and blunder, and a meta script that lets us play detective while the body count rises. From the first “What's your favorite scary movie?” to the party that spirals into chaos, we unpack why these set pieces still work and where the film shows its 90s seams. We trade favorite lines, cringe at the moments that didn't age well (that garage door death, the principal's face-touch), and celebrate the beats that endure: the 30‑second delay in the news van, the clever bedroom door jam, and Red Right Hand pulsing through the streets of Woodsboro. Neve Campbell's grounded Sidney gives the movie its spine, while David Arquette and Courtney Cox sharpen the film's humor and tension. Matthew Lillard's gleeful mania and Skeet Ulrich's brooding presence turn the final reveal into a messy, unforgettable showdown.Along the way, we stir up the Woodsboro Snapple cocktail, compare trope bingo cards, and share production nuggets—from Roger L. Jackson's unseen voice work to the opening scene's real 911 calls. Whether you grew up browsing video stores or found Scream on a streaming scroll, this rewatch argues why the film still claws its way to the top of the slasher pile: it respects the audience, loves the genre, and isn't afraid to cut through its own myths. Hit play, then tell us your pick for most rewatchable moment—and if you'd still answer that phone after dark. If you enjoy the show, follow, rate, and leave a short review to help fellow horror fans find us. Head to www.screamsandstreams.com for more information related to our episode.

In this very special episode, Kenny and Ben tackle one of the most egregious snubs of the Best Villain category: Ghostface, the masked killer of the Scream franchise. Even when this series was at its peak neither Roger L. Jackson or the actors playing the killers got nominated so the boys correct this mistake by covering all 5 (to date) Scream movies. They talk about how every Scream is good, Jackson's incredible vocal performance, clumsy Ghostface, Scary Movie, alternate endings, how the final jump scare got Ben every time, early Emma Roberts vehicles, Jack Quaid's parentage, and more. It's a solid 2+ hours of Scream goodness so don't miss out!

Find Emily and her wonderful show on twitter @tastelesspod or on her website https://www.tastelesspod.com/ Scream (also informally known as Scream 5) is a 2022 American slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is the fifth installment in the Scream film series. Though billed as a relaunch of the film series, the film is a direct sequel to Scream 4 (2011), and the first in the series not to be directed by Wes Craven. The film is dedicated to Craven at the beginning of the closing credits. The film stars franchise veterans David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and newcomers Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison, and Sonia Ben Ammar, with Marley Shelton, Skeet Ulrich, Heather Matarazzo, and Roger L. Jackson reprising their roles from previous installments. In this film, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past. #HappyHalloween Q-Balls! I sit down with a man who has made me interested in voice acting ever since I was 17 years old. A man who has created an absolute legend in the horror genre, the iconic "Ghostface" from the Scream film franchise. Unlike most slashers who are unstoppable brutes, Ghostface is a character who possesses twisted-charm, sexiness and pure menace. I hope you enjoy my chat, with Roger L. Jackson. He is not simply Ghostface by any means. Roger is a puppeteer, sharing with me his love of Jim Henson, Frank Oz and the Muppets, a talented impressionist, and a man who can create other worldly alien dialects and beastly sound effects. Roger has also voiced another beloved character, that of "Mojo Jojo" from the Powerpuff Girls. Mojo is a stark contrast compared to Ghostface (not simply because of the genre his show is a part of) but because, while he tries to be menacing, there is such heart and humour that Roger brings to the supposed super villain and nemesis of the Powerpuff Girls. Something you will notice in a lot of Roger's work, and in the way he carries himself. You wouldn't expect the man who can make you shiver with just his voice, a man who can send blood curdling shivers down your spine to be such a soft spoken and gentle human being, but of course, that's just another thing that makes Roger great. Roger shares some absolutely amazing and honest advice about the Voice Acting industry, and of course, being a Halloween episode, we delve into how created Ghostface, working with the legend Wes Craven, and the process he went through throughout this prolific horror franchise. More importantly, it has yet to be confirmed if Roger will be back for #Scream5, and I know I'm not alone in thinking, there is no Scream 5 without him. He is as integral to this franchise as the Ghostface mask, and the Canadian Scream-queen, Neve Campbell. I will continue to push the campaign and the hashtag #noscream5withoutRoger until we hear what we all want to hear, and he's back in an official capacity! So on this COVID-Halloween, who needs to go out Trick or Treating? Stay in, watch the Scream franchise, enjoy Roger L Jackson's work, and enjoy as Roger and I discuss Tim Burton, My Cousin Vinnie, and the time he passed out doing orc noises on this screamtastic episode of Vocal Qs.
