It's my weekly chat with Eric Peters from Eric Peters Autos. Among other things, we discuss the future of transportation and how to navigate our dystopian society. The concept of sound money has never been more important than today. J.P. Cortez has some excellent questions for Idaho's governor who just vetoed legislation that would have allowed the state to acquire gold and silver for certain state funds. The word "hate" has been weaponized in such a way that none of us knows for sure what we may safely say, think or believe. Rev. John F. Naugle has a gentle reminder that it's possible to hate the bad and love the good and still be a decent person. Article of the Day: You've likely noticed that it's becoming difficult to have productive discussions because of our current highly polarized culture. Russell Roberts says the answer is to check our ideological blind spots and to have a bit of empathy. Sponsors: Life Saving Food  Fifty Two Seven Alliance Iron Sight Brewing Co. Quilt & Sew

Russell Roberts is an economist, a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution and president designate of Shalem College. He is known for communicating economic ideas in understandable terms as host of the EconTalk podcast. Roberts categorizes himself as a proponent of classical economic liberalism. He has said, "I believe in limited government combined with personal responsibility. So I am something of a libertarian, but . . . that term comes with some baggage and some confusion." Roberts was awarded a B.A. in economics in 1975 from the University of North Carolina and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1981 for his thesis on the design of government transfer programs under the supervision of Gary Becker. Roberts has previously taught at George Mason University, Washington University in St. Louis (where he was the founding director of what is now the Center for Experiential Learning), the University of Rochester, Stanford University, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a regular commentator on business and economics for National Public Radio's Morning Edition, and has written for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Roberts also blogs at Cafe Hayek with Donald J. Boudreaux at George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia. Roberts writes and publishes videos on economics, some of which have been viewed millions of times.[16] One of the most widely watched videos is Fear the Boom and Bust, a rap battle between 20th century economists John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich von Hayek.

The first segment of this special interview reviews the master horseman’s long and brilliant career as a trainer and driver in the harness racing field. Fred tells the story of his grandfather taking two pacers from Adelaide to Perth by ship, while the rest of the family crossed the Nullabor in an old Buick car. The Kersleys have been in Western Australia ever since. He reflects on the brilliant training and driving career of his father Fred Kersley Snr, who had never been able to win a WA Pacing Cup.Towards the end of his career, young Fred was able to give him the winning drive on James Eden in the historic race. It was a night of high emotion. Fred looks back on his very slow start as a trainer/driver. He couldn’t have imagined that he’d go on to win 16 metropolitan premierships. The master horseman recalls his association with the great pacer Pure Steel. He won the WA Derby with the up and coming champion, but later lost the horse following a disagreement with owner Russell Roberts. Fred pays tribute to Classic Garry, perhaps the fastest horse he ever drove. He has some nice things to say about this brilliant racehorse and hugely influential sire. He acknowledges some of the great drivers with whom he competed on Western Australian tracks.

Official website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com This episode is all about the unsanctioned, I say that jokingly, Patron Ride & Meetup Event occurring in Tennessee on June 22 of 2019! That's just four days after the Official Sanctioned 2019 Law Abiding Biker Patron Meetup (Episode #194) in Salt Lake City, Utah! For the finer details of these events, you need to be a Patron Member of Law Abiding Biker Media and be in the Private Patron Member Only Motorcycle Facebook Group, which is a troll free zone. If you've been on the fence about signing up, make no mistake about it, we've got some awesome things in going on for our Patron members and you'll want to be a part of it here in 2019.  Get signed up and become a Patron Member now! Don't forget the Official 2019 Sanctioned Law Abiding™ Biker Media ride and dinner in the greater Salt Lake City, Utah area! (Podcast Episode #194) This unsanctioned Patron Ride & Meetup in Tennessee will be Patrons meeting and riding with other Patrons over and around the east coast area of the U.S., We here at Law Abiding Biker Media will not be present for this event. I'm super excited that the Patron Member community in the Private Member Only Facebook Group is taking it upon themselves to meet each other and schedule events like this! I never dreamed this sort of thing would occur when I started Law Abiding Biker™ nearly 6 years ago! That Private Patron Member Only Motorcycle Facebook Group is the best community of motorcycle enthusiasts around & you're missing out if you're not in there. It is the best troll free motorcycle forum in the world and it's all about bikers helping bikers inside with courtesy and respect for each other. It is completely searchable and you can find topics of all kinds related to motorcycles. It has collected quite a database of topics over the years as you can imagine. If you can't find a specific topic or discussion in search, just post the question and bikers from around the world with all different experience levels will gladly assist you and/or guide you with their expertise. Many of the Law Abiding Biker™ Media east coast Patron Members can't make it west across the United States to our yearly sanctioned rides and meetups & we understand that. We are unable at this time to really travel on our motorcycles any further east for meetups and events because we here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media are all still working our other full-time paying jobs. When some of us retire at some point from those paying jobs and have more time off, we hope to be able to reach out further and get further east and even outside of the country for events. A special thanks to Patron Member Russell Roberts of Tennessee, who is spearheading this unsanctioned Patron Meetup in June 2019. I have him on the mic via a Facetime call for this episode and we dive in deeper so I can learn about this event & share the details with you. Russell has an awesome ride plan set up for the day to include the famous "Tail of the Dragon" and I am so jealous I can't go. He also rented a very cool and secluded house with a private back yard to end the ride at. Once there and after the day ride, Russell has a BBQ dinner planned for everyone! You must get ahold of Russell Roberts in the Private Patron Member Only Motorcycle Facebook Group and RSVP to the Unsanctioned Ride & Meetup in Tennesee on June 19, 2019. Only those that do so will get the proper information and be allowed to attend. Deadline to get signed up is June 1, 2019. Note: Russell Roberts is paying for all this out of his own pocket at this point. At the dinner portion of the event, there will be a hat, so bring some cash and help Russell Roberts offset the personal cost he has invested to make this happen for everyone. He is doing this because he cares about the Law Abiding Biker community and wants to help further the #BikerRevolution! Again, for the finer details of both these 2019 events, you need to be a Patron Member of Law Abiding Biker Media and be in the Private Patron Member Only Motorcycle Facebook Group. Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-This episode was a direct result of Patreon Member Russell Roberts. He gave me the topic idea some time ago and he happened to be in town, so we grabbed the mics and spit this episode for you. Lurch was also in the studio and weighed in. Russell Roberts is like many law abiding bikers out there and exercises his 2nd Amendment Rights to carry a firearm while riding his motorcycle when he legally can. He wants to follow the rules, but that can be confusing, especially when traveling across State lines. Different States have different rules. Some States have reciprocity agreements and may recognize another State's concealed carry permit. Other States don't recognize any permit except their own. In some States, you can open carry and in others, you can't. It gets just plain confusing for most. Lurch and I are full-time Law Enforcement Officers and can carry across all State lines and in places others can't. We forget all the rules regular citizens have to try and navigate.  This is why it was great to have Russell in the studio to give the perspective of a regular citizen and what he's learned. He gives some great advice and some great resources for bikers who want to carry a concealed weapon (see below resources).  You really must listen to this entire episode if you are a motorcycle enthusiast and also exercise your right to carry a concealed firearm.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE! Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this episode I was fortunate to have Law Abiding Biker Patron Member Russell Roberts in the studio. He is an awesome photographer and does video too. He has much experience with using and mounting GoPro action cameras to motorcycles. LawDog was also on a mic and as a beginner had a ton of great questions to ask Russell and I. I think he asked questions many of you out there want to know and how to get started from the ground up. We reveal how you Bikaholics can get started with action cameras when out riding your motorcycle. Of course, we use high-end camera, audio gear and lighting here at Law Abiding Biker Media for many projects. But, we also utilize GoPro cameras to capture footage depending on the particular project. I do all my moto biker vlogs with GoPros and iPhones.  You can see our free videos on our YouTube Channel. Of course, we also have our very popular for purchase videos. We have tested many different GoPro mounts and motorcycle mounting positions over time and we reveal it all to you! If you are thinking of getting started with action cameras on your motorcycle then you'll definitely need to take a listen. Russell Roberts can tell you, and I agree, that the Biker Gripper GoPro Motorcycle Mounts are the best in the world. That is our #1 go to GoPro motorcycle mount.  Good luck using the cheap plastic GoPro "bar mount" to attach your camera to your motorcycle. They break after several uses and you'll get unwanted vibrations in your footage. We talk about these mounts and more. We also talk about mounting your GoPro to your motorcycle helmet, which I often do during moto biker vlogs. It can give a great rider perspective. There are mics and Yakima Rive Canyon Biker Motorcycle attachments you'll need to talk into your GoPro while riding down the road. I talk about the equipment I use and list affiliate links to the exact items I use below.  Many times I'm asked what GoPro settings I use to record video. Of course, that depends on the exact look I want, but I can say a good starting point for most bikers would be to record at 1080p and 60fps (frames per second).  I am not a fan of recording at 4K right now, due to the massive file sizes and management of those files. And the fact that most viewers will never see it in 4k anyways. I am also asked what software I currently use to edit my videos. I use Final Cut Pro X on my Mac for most of my video editing with many purchased add-ons. Rusell and I also use Adobe Premiere, which can be used on MAC or PC.  If you are not doing advanced things then for most iMovie, which comes free on Mac's, works just fine.  GoPro also has free desktop editing software. There are also free programs for PC too, but I don't use PC's so you'll have to see what's available. Last, we compare other action cameras on the market for you. We compare GoPro to those cams and give you our opinions on the many choices out there. You'll also need a good quality quiet helmet if you want to moto vlog. I use a Schuberth C3 Pro helmet to cut down on any wind noise. Adding a wind-screen of sorts to the mic can also cut down on wind noise. I'm also behind a fairing most the time on my Harley Street Glide and that helps a ton. These are all things you'll need to consider and testing will be key to see what works best for your needs.  I don't currently use any GoPro session models, but Russell Roberts does. He gives his insight and the pros and cons of the session vs. the full-size GoPro cams in this episode.
