The boys wrapped their trip down to Vegas by recording a new episode of the podcast from their hotel room. To kick things off, they talked about how yesterday got going. The Las Vegas strip was loaded with orange and blue and the atmosphere outside of the arena was incredible. There were high-fives everywhere and almost every bar leading up to the arena was packed. The guys shared stories of the people they met and also, what they did to try and manifest an Oilers victory (hint: it involves wagering a lot of money on the team). Of course, they had some extra cash in their pockets thanks to a big win at the plastic ponies the night before. Things got derailed a little bit as they relived their big victory and talked about what they did to celebrate after. Then, they dug into the Oilers big victory. Leon Draisaitl is absolutely unstoppable right now, Evander Kane dropped the quote of the playoffs, and Connor McDavid is starting to wake up. It feels like the series has shifted in the Oiler's favour. After the game, they celebrated the only way they know how: hitting up Freemont street. They talked about the cover band, their adventures on the famous street, and their strong run in the casino. It was another successful AMA Travel adventure and the guys were definitely feeling it this morning, as you can tell in the podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam and Emma host Jane McAlevey, Senior Policy Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley's Labor Center, to discuss her recent video for The Nation "You Voted To Form A Union. Now What?" Then they are joined by T.J. Kitchen, Organizing Director for the Teamsters Joint Council #43, to discuss the recent organizing efforts at a Chipotle franchise in Lansing, Michigan. Sam and Emma begin by running through updates on early Russia-Ukraine negotiations (including Putin rejecting a No-NATO pledge), WV's new abortion ban, and Starbucks' firing of organizer Jaz Brisack, also touching on Lindsey Graham launching his bill to finally lead America out of the wacko dark ages of “Bodily Autonomy.” Then Jane McAlevey joins as she, Sam, and Emma get right into contextualizing the growth of the American labor movement over the last two years (since McAlevey's last appearance on MR), exploring the mass growth in organized labor action in the wake of the heightened tensions of 2020 and the labor exploitation of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how the Biden administration's NLRB has failed (and occasionally succeeded) in capturing that rage. Following up on that discussion, Jane gets into the next iteration of challenges facing new US unions, looking at how the rise of independent unions (Starbucks Workers United, Amazon Labor Union, etc), fails to capitalize on the preexisting organizing expertise and experience found in national unions (and preferably in the NLRB) or to mobilize for demands on a larger-scale. After they get into the continuing complicity of the Democratic Party in undermining labor power in the US, also covering their response to the recent Freight Rail strike, they wrap up by assessing how the US working class became so overworked and under-compensated while rent and healthcare prices continue to skyrocket, and what we can do to close that gap. TJ Kitchen then joins to dive into the recent organizing at a Lansing Chipotle, discussing how the workers there reached out to the Teamsters Joint Council #43, how they were able to prepare the workers and strategize for the union-busting that would surely come (and did), and how this action can grow moving forwards. And in the Fun Half: Emma and Sam take a call from Penny on Organizing with UFCW-300, Owen from LA discusses European power policy as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, Mitch McConnell sends some warning shots Lindsey Graham's way, and Routers reveals Putin was offered a No-NATO pledge from Ukraine. Jenna from Freemont discusses fighting for the Trans community, Hannah from Kansas City discusses the “Tucker Carlson Left” and why fighting for healthcare is NOT antithetical to fighting for trans healthcare, and the crew remembers Ken Starr. Chris from Mass explores the role of the White House Press Corp, and Chris Rufo calls teenagers he's not attracted to “demonic,” plus, your calls and IMs! The love of country; the desire to serve and to protect; the brotherhood and comradery you shared. The missions. The dangers. The highs and lows. The struggles. Everyone was going through it together. Everyone was enduring the same thing. Everyone hated it and still loved it at the same time. For those that served, you know what I'm talking about. For those that did not serve, it is hard for me or anyone else to put into words. Our guest today is a veteran and part of a group that you just need to know about. It is the “Mighty Oaks Foundation” and our guest today is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Jeremy Stalnecker. Jeremy was a Marine Corps Infantry Officer with the First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division as a platoon commander in various positions. In January 2003, his unit was deployed to become part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As the war began, his unit was the first to breach the berm separating Kuwait and Iraq and they were able to secure the first military objective of the war. Continuing, they road marched forward and ended up in Baghdad and were able to seize control of the Presidential Palace in northern Baghdad on the Tigris River. Throughout this mission, Jeremy and his unit provided navigation and security for the battalion. One month after returning from war, he became the assistant pastor at his church and gained ministry experience that would equip to doing what he is doing now, serving the Lord and furthering his ministerial responsibilities. In 2008, Jeremy took on the role of senior pastor of the Bay Area Baptist Church in Freemont, California. After serving there for seven years, he accepted a full time position with the Mighty Oaks Foundation where he is able to use both, his military background and his ministry experience to help many hurting veterans, service members, their families as well as first responders and their families. The “Mighty Oaks Foundation” is committed to serving the brokenhearted by providing intensive peer-based discipleship through a series of programs, outpost meetings and speaking events... You have programs for both men and women. Do you have a program for husband and wife to attend together? Survivors guilt is a very serious emotional problem for many of our veterans. How does “Mighty Oaks” help people to answer that question of “Why them and not me?” How do you help hurting veterans to share their stories? Just the fact of being able to talk with someone can often begin the path for healing? Does your organization offer speakers for Veterans events, churches, conferences and things like that? Is there any cost for a veteran, family member, first responder, etc. for your programs? You also host a podcast, https://www.jeremystalnecker.com/ (“March or Die,”) correct?  Tell us about your program? Jeremy, this has been a great interview. I know someone out there listening to us today either needs to get in touch with you or knows someone that needs your services. How can someone get in touch with you, the “Mighty Oaks Foundation,” and apply for your services or have someone come out and speak at an event, etc.? How can someone listen to your podcast? Folks, I have spoken at veterans conferences and I have met many people in what I do that served this nation. Many of the suffer from some form of PTSD, have Traumatic Brain Injuries, have developed severe illnesses, etc. And the services offered by “The Mighty Oaks Foundation” are there to help these folks. Perhaps you know of someone that can use their services. Perhaps you can help them reach someone that can use their services. How? By making a donation to support their work. Every donation matters. For those that did not serve, it is hard for me or anyone else to put into words. I left service in 1989 after 12 years. I left the Cavalry, I was a CAV officer, and went into business and somehow found my way into law enforcement – and the rest is history. Amen! Those that have been listening to this program for any length of time knows the story. For those that are new, just keep listening or go the archives and you'll know. The reason I'm bringing this up, especially around the 4th of July holiday, is because each and every man and woman who signed up and served, did so voluntarily. They volunteered to protect this nation and the freedoms we enjoy. Many, many of them who came in after I left service, served their entire careers during conflict. Many served in hazardous areas their entire time in service. Witnessing things that no human being should witness. Participating in action that has left huge, emotional scars that haunt them to this day. Our guest today is a veteran and part of a group that you just need to know about. So I can relate to everything you shared about that on your website. Praise God. Your unit was one that breached the berm.  The unit and men that I had served with were part of that “end run” to the rear echelon area and cutting off the supply lines and avenues of retreat. First Cav Division. Praise God. You are the co-founder of the “Mighty Oaks Foundation.”  What brought you to begin this type of organization and how did

In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles, Donnie and Dale discuss the shocking murder of Candace Hiltz. Candace was a seventeen year old single mother, a junior at Brigham Young University and a newly accepted student to be at Stanford Law School. She dreamed of becoming a Supreme Court Justice. The investigation was shoddy from the beginning: The crime scene wasn't protected and sealed, evidence was left behind and the prime suspect was Candace's brother, James. After he was apprehended, he was charged with for breaking into a home and stealing some items, but not the murder of his sister. Over the next ten years, no new leads were developed nor evidence discovered. The Hiltz family and the Fremont County Sheriff's Department engaged in a rather public exchange of contradictory statements. Candace's autopsy showed she had been shot by two to three different weapons and at least two assailants as several shots were projected into her front and back simultaneously.  https://crackhousechronicles.com/ Check out our MERCH! https://www.teepublic.com/user/crackhousechronicles Sponsors: https://betterhelp.com/chc If you use this link or Promo Code CHC, BetterHELP will give you 10% off your first months bill.

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 6, 2021 8:20

No había cómo verificarlas.
