Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #602 is an hour of visionary improvised acoustic music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, singing bowl, acoustic guitar, mandolin and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in late December of 2024, today's show begins with concise, pretty minor ballad “I Am Enough” featuring a fine vocal from Mariam above Bob's kinetic, searching piano and Craig's steady congas groove. “Oh The River” begins as a sweet, major key folk song until it slowly morphs into a jazzy workout that evokes the return of a beautifully chaotic Spring. “Let's Turn The Page” is an ambitious, spacious ballad sprinkled with Native flute and gorgeous vocals and “Open Every Day” is a fine, imaginative, focused version of the track from Mariam's “Gaea Star Crystal” album. “That Golden Glow Within” takes shape around the stately, undulating drone of Mariam's crystal singing bowl, her hushed, whispered vocal and expressive flute passages and is slowly, intentionally raised into a beautiful, touching piece that evokes classical art song with a particular nod to Schubert in the way Mariam's lovely, understated vocals and flute make the most of Bob's formal, consonant cadences. “Open Every Day” is dancing, exotic Eastern European-flavored whimsy from the “Gaea Star Crystal” album and “In The Middle Of The Night” is a deep and beautiful midnight reflection built around Mariam's chiming mandolin and dynamic, slowly coalescing piano movements from Bob. Mariam strums her warm, intimate baritone ukulele for the affecting “When You Touch Me”, a standout of the “Smooth Sailin' Love Songs” album that receives a sinuous, deeply emotional reading with powerful congas from Craig over the tight mandolin and symphonic piano. “Receiving Misty, Misty Rain” slides slowly and effortlessly from floating, open gospel ballad to focused, driving minimalist jazz fusion and “Shine Brightly” floats in on cascades of Native flute, a beautiful, impressionistic tone poem with imaginative ensemble playing from the band and a powerful, dynamic vocal from Mariam. Beautifully impressionistic and featuring a deep heartbeat from Craig's Native drum, “Shine Brightly” cedes the stage for today's inspired closer, the pretty island song “Shamiyaya”, originally appearing on Maraim's “Release” album, evoking the islands on this deep winter day. In Ephesians 5:1-20 Paul gives some advice to us on how we can live out our new life in Christ in such a way that will shine God's love and light into our dark and broken world.
Often we underestimate the impact we can make in the world and fail to see our full capacity. In this episode of the Orchard Podcast we take a look what Jesus says about our influence when we serve in his kingdom. We also welcome Theuno Swart, Orchard: Africa's National Director of South Africa, to join in the conversation as he shares his insights and stories living a missional life.
Very easy to like...
• Romans 7:15 I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate.• Philippians 2:1-8 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross.• John 13:3-5 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.• Philippians 2:9-15a Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Shine Brightly for Christ Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.• Romans 12:1-2 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] 2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.• Romans 12:3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.• Caleb Ives quote “You will only influence the lives of those you are willing to serve. Without a heart to serve you may get respect, attention, praise & even your own servants. But life-impacting influence only results from a willingness to embrace humble servanthood. It's the way of Jesus.”
Join Karaleigh in an interview with the vibrant Alison Fraser. In this episode we talk about shining too brightly, showing up comfortably as you are, finding balance in motherhood, and of course we get some fun, real mom talk. Alison is a journalist, a communications professional and podcaster who helps other podcasters make their show what they want it to be. She is also a parkrunner and quizzer living in New Zealand as well as a mum of one. Favorite takeaways: 1. We've got to own who we are and love ourselves for it and stop caring so much what other people think. 2. We're not static! We get to grow! It's such a gift that we get to continue to improve and shift and transform and become a new, better, version of ourselves constantly. 3. We get to look back on our year and look at how far we've come and then we get to look ahead and ask, how much further do I get to go? It's easy to look at our goals and say, I'm not where I want to be. But instead we could look at them with excitement. There's a whole new version of me just waiting to blossom. 4. I see it as a privilege to change and to grow. 5. You can live your dreams. You can do incredible things with your life! Anything is possible and it doesn't matter how tough your circumstances are, anything is possible. 6. We can do hard things. We can persevere, we can figure it out. We can keep going even when challenges come our way because we are strong and we are powerful. 7. You are valuable because you are unique. Guests: Dr. Jason Snyder, Discipleship Pastor, and Jason Mick, NextGen Minister, Prestonwood Baptist Church To watch this episode, check out the PrestonwoodChristian YouTube channel. Why is going to church essential in the life of a disciple of Christ? The church resources and equips Christ-followers to grow in their personal faith journeys The church gives the opportunity for believers to serve and minister to the needs of the body of Christ - don't rob someone of the blessing that God has given you! The church gives us the opportunity to model for our children that we value Christ - your kids need to see you as you worship, as you study the Word of God, as you listen to corporate teaching/preaching - James reminds us that faith without works is dead! Men, we need to “model the mission” and lead by example! What is expected of a member? Be in worship - we are instructed to gather together as the body of Christ. Bring your worship with you! Be involved in community - don't journey in isolation, get plugged in to a LifeGroup Be available to serve the church and the community through the life of the church! Text the word “Serve” to either 74788 for the Plano Campus or 55125 for the North Campus Compare your “screen time” to the time that you spend serving the Lord, ministering to others, investing in your own spiritual growth and maturity! Text the word “Groups” to 74788 (Plano) or 55125 (North) to find out about various LifeGroups that exist for you to connect with! Titus 2:9-10 deals with the Christian worker displaying godliness in the face of all circumstances, but also addresses a common misconception of a sensitive subject in scripture. Besides presenting a careful representation of the biblical text, Pastor Aaron offers practical advice to all believers as they relate to those in authority over them.

The NFL Draft is still a couple of months out but that does not mean the process is not going full-steam ahead for everyone involved. The all-star games are over and attention now is turning to the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine. We felt this was the perfect time to catch up with Ian Cummings of the Pro Football Network to get some of his thoughts about what could be coming with NFL Draft 2023. What will the quarterback derby look like? Who is his number one right now? Can CJ Stroud accomplish something that has been a long time coming for the Buckeyes? Ohio State has three big-time linemen in the draft on the offensive side, is there a chance we could see two come off the board on night one? Zach Harrison may not be getting a lot of mention right now but why will that change come NFL Combine time? That and so much more. And be sure to follow Ian Cummings at @IC_Draft and at @PFN365

Howard Brown is an author, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, interfaith peacemaker, two-time stage IV cancer survivor, and healthcare advocate. For over three decades, Howard's business innovations, leadership principles, mentoring, and resilience in beating cancer against long odds have made him a sought-after speaker and consultant for businesses, nonprofits, congregations, and community groups. His hard-earned wisdom about resilience after beating cancer twice has led him to become a nationally known patient advocate and “cancer whisperer” to many families. Howard, his wife Lisa, and his daughter Emily currently reside in Michigan. ✨A few highlights from the show: 1. Medical technologies that played a role in Howard's recovery and expanding his family: bone marrow transplant, In vitro fertilization (IVF)/Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), scans to video, liquid biopsy, tumor burden, clinical trials, immunotherapy, and Interleukin-2 2. It is important that you, your loved ones or family, or a patient advocate ask about what medical technologies are available to treat the type of cancer that you have. As you can see from Howard's experience, there are many options that may help save your life and improve your quality of life. 3. Don't isolate yourself. Isolation brings darkness. 4. Call for help and hold on to hope. 5. Find your happy place and go there!

Yay!! The very first episode is finally here!! I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself and share a preview on all that is to come with this podcast. Thank you for joining me on this transformational journey, I cannot wait to tune in with you each week! ✨Let's Stay Connected:
According to my mother, this was my very first complete phrase, in the form of a question. Or perhaps it was a declarative statement. Hard to say, but in hindsight it seems highly symbolic, perhaps an early expression of my soul's purpose: supporting, helping, and guiding others to do just that.Much later, during a vision quest, a similar thing was shown to me, a voice speaking to me in the desert (I know, how biblical): "Shine Brightly so that others may Brightly Shine". Now the wonky grammar might be due to the fact that I hadn't eaten, spoken, or listened to any other person in days, but the message was clear, and I have subsequently adopted it as a mantra.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/back2basicsmode?fan_landing=true)
Throughout Scripture, light is used as a symbol of God's presence. It sparks life, inspires hope, and points to God's goodness, faithfulness, and beauty. God also commissioned his people to be a light to the nations. In his letter to the church at Philippi, Paul commends the believers for their obedience and commands them to continue shining brightly in the darkness of suffering and in the confusion of the culture.
Grow in your witness as you grow in your joy, love and purpose! Let your life be your message as you shine brightly each day wherever you go. Your best days are still ahead, and together we can make a difference in this world with the message of God's hope and love.
