Hey there, fellow book lovers! If you're looking for some fun and engaging reads for the kiddos, you're in the right place. The Reading with Your Kids podcast just had a blast chatting with two awesome authors - Steven Joseph and Meira Rosenberg. First up, we welcomed back Steven Joseph to talk about the latest book in his Snoodle series, "Snoodles in Space Escape from Zultraz." This wacky and imaginative series follows the adventures of Herbie Snoodleman and his trusty Snoodle vehicle, which runs on noodles instead of gas. In the new book, the Snoodle-verse gets even crazier as the kids try to save the day.  Steven shared the hilarious process of coming up with all the punny character names and zany plot points. He's a master at taking the ridiculous and making it totally believable. No wonder kids (and adults!) love getting lost in the Snoodle world. Next, we caught up with Meira Rosenberg to discuss her two middle-grade novels, "28 Days of Neon" and "Indiana Bamboo." These stories tackle some heavy topics like death and loss, but with a healthy dose of humor and heart.  In "28 Days of Neon," a 12-year-old girl thinks she only has 28 days left to live, so she sets out to do good deeds and earn a miracle. And in "Indiana Bamboo," an 11-year-old sleuth teams up with her friends to solve a mystery involving stolen exotic animals. Meira's books are perfect for sparking conversations and helping kids navigate tough emotions. Both Steven and Meira shared the joys and challenges of writing for Kids and families. They love visiting schools and seeing kids' reactions to their stories - the unexpected laughter, the insightful questions, and the pure magic of connecting through literature. So if you're looking to add some new favorites to your family's reading list, be sure to check out the Snoodle series and Meira Rosenberg's novels. Happy reading, everyone! In this riveting podcast episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Steven Joseph, a distinguished lawyer and marathon enthusiast who has conquered both the Boston and New York City marathons with impressive dedication. As a first-generation American and son of a Holocaust survivor, Steven's life story is as inspiring as his professional achievements. We delved into his acclaimed series of children's books, particularly the latest installment, “Snoodles in Space.” In this thrilling third adventure, Steven, along with talented illustrator Andy Case, crafts a high-stakes battle where the mischievous Zoodle Kidoodles plot revenge by poisoning the Earth's water supply, transforming people into chaotic Willy Nilly's and Dilly Dally's. With Earth's fate hanging in the balance, we discuss whether Briana and Ricky can once again rise to the challenge and rally the outcast kids to thwart the Zoodles' sinister plan. This episode not only highlights Steven's creative brilliance but also offers a glimpse into the profound influences that shape his multifaceted life. In this episode of Hilary Topper on Air, Hilary interviews Steven Joseph, author of the new book, Snoodles, Kidoodles, Poodles and Lots and Lots of Noodles. Hear from Steven as he talks about his book and how adults and kids alike should embrace crankiness to achieve goals. In addition, learn about Steven's own journey as a marathon runner and what motivates him to continue to push himself and cross those finish lines as well as how he gets his writing ideas while running. About Steven Joseph Steven Joseph is a first-generation American, son of a Holocaust Survivor, speaker, and 5-time Boston Marathon and 17-time NYC Marathon runner. He is a humorist who likes to marry therapists in his spare time and has spent nearly a lifetime going back and forth between schuckling at the synagogues, and sitting in stillness staring at the blank wall in the Zendo. Steven Joseph is a BookFest award winner and a Mom's Choice award winner. His first book, the award-winning children's book The Last Surviving Dinosaur: The TyrantoCrankaTsuris, was the start of his crankiness journey. His second book, The Crankatsuris Method: A Grownup Guide to Effective Crankiness, also an award-winner, helped adults around the world embrace their crankiness. Now, his third book, Snoodles, Kidoodles, Poodles and Lots and Lots of Noodles seeks to inspire kids, parents, educators, and everyone still feeling a little cranky with humor, insights, and of course plenty of those all-too-necessary noodles. About Snoodles, Kidoodles, Poodles and Lots and Lots of Noodles Steven Joseph is back with a new book for kids and adults to help them laugh a little while embracing crankiness. We are all naturally cranky and the pandemic has made us even more cranky than normal. But with a sense of humor and the delightful metaphors found in his new book, Snoodles, Kidoodles, Poodles and Lots and Lots of Noodles, Steven gives us all a new perspective on embracing our crankiness. As an attorney and negotiator, Steven knows a thing or two about shifting one's point of view to see things anew. Snoodles, Kidoodles, Poodles and Lots and Lots of Noodles casts fresh light on how we handle everything from mask-wearing to distance learning, to the climate and environment. We all get cranky. You have a bad day, a bad week, a bad month, and everything seems to bother you that much more. It can be a continuous cycle and before you know it, you're cranky all of the time. But maybe, we need to learn how to embrace crankiness and not bury it. About the Interview In this episode of Hilary Topper on Air, Hilary speaks with Steven Joseph, author of the Mom's Choice Award-winning The Last Surviving Dinosaur: The TyrantoCrankaTsuris as well as The Crankatsuris Method: A Grownup Guide to Effective Crankiness. Hear Steven's advice on how adults should accept their crankiness and not use it on other people. Learn tips on how to process your crankiness and express yourself in a healthy way. About Steven Joseph Steven Joseph is a first-generation American, son of a Holocaust Survivor, attorney, negotiator, speaker, author, fully cured overweight person,  five-time Boston Marathon and 16 time NYC Marathon runner, a humorist who has spent 28 years as a partner with therapists, a lifetime of schuckling at countless synagogues, many years sitting on a cushion staring at a white wall at the Village Zendo, but is a person who still smart enough to know that he hasn't figured everything out – except for crankiness. He is the author of the Mom's Choice Award-winning The Last Surviving Dinosaur: The TyrantoCrankaTsuris as well as The Crankatsuris Method: A Grownup Guide to Effective Crankiness. About The Crankatsuris Method Using good humor throughout, Steven Joseph observes that we typically do not hesitate to pour out our CrankaTsuris all over our spouses, kids, parents, and siblings-and then there can be a CrankaTsuris retaliation. Before you know it, you are in the middle of a CrankaTsuris food fight. We're all cranky at times, but it's imperative we find a more effective way to be cranky while still making the world a happier place. In this book, learn how to: – Create space for both yours and your family's crankiness – Utilize a fun “team” approach to crankiness – Take steps to avoid being too cranky – Improve communication with friends and family – Handle cranky dinosaurs in your life (including children) – Effectively diagnose and treat the “Common CrankaTsuris” When it comes to crankiness, the infection rate in a given room is likely close to 100 percent. When trying to manage that crankiness-as well as your own-the ultimate answer will always be love. To learn more about Steven and or purchase his book, visit www.stevenjosephauthor.com.
