The Tailem Bend Christmas Parade is back this December 10. There'll be stalls, food, kid's entertainment and Tailem Bend Auto Club for all enthusiasts from 4.30 and a parade from 6pm. Architectural draughtsman Michael Holliday has been named the 2022 Tailem Bend Citizen of the Year by the Coorong Council. The community man helps Murraylands groups and sporting clubs to navigate through the daunting process to get development applications approved with council. Michael is also the Treasurer of the Tailem Bend Auto Club and is involved in a local church project in which men come together to restore old cars. The Tailem Bend Netball Clubs has reported it is finally back-on-track financially after being scammed out of more than $150,000. After undertaking much-needed upgrades to the club's courts and facilities, the club received a fraudulent email last April, directing payment of a legitimate invoice into a scammers' bank account. The Tailem Bend Christmas Parade Committee is finalising this year's event today. On Saturday December 11, the Parade will meander through the streets and come to the people. The Grinch plans to return, but at least Father Christmas got his VISA this time and will be there too. Payment redirection scams have increased five-fold this year. The Tailem Bend Netball Club was scammed out of more than $150,000 in April after getting legitimate work done on their courts and being sent an invoice from a scammer pretending to be the contractor.
