She noticed that her father-in-law, the quiet sailor, alsoendured as did many other veterans she met. The silence of these men and women is the spiritbehind the haunting ballad, “SOLDIERS NOT FORGOT.”Released just before Memorial Day, this is a song giving voice to what generations of veteranscouldn't say out loud. It is a tribute “to my father,” Pamela says, “and all who now defend anddid defend and protect our country.”While working on the musical Artland, with Stanley Clarke, the lyrics of this song lingered as shekept thinking about soldiers returning from war. Who did they talk to? How did they feel? Howlonely they must have been. This was long before therapy apps or terms like PTSD.“SOLDIERS NOT FORGOT” is a slow burn. Singer Lain Roy, whose family has a militarybackground, carries the track with a voice that blends soulful grit (reminiscent of John Legend)with deep feeling and memory. As the song reaches its climax, Roy soars into a sustained highnote as the music drops out. It's pure emotion:In peace, we soldiers live like other menYet a hint, a sound, fans memory's embers again.“I hope that SOLDIERS NOT FORGOT helps veterans heal from such traumatic experiences ofwar, helps to raise awareness of the soldier's true stories, and shows the impact war has on ourmilitary members.”Also performing on the track is Tzuriel Tong, whose piano and cello work weave around Roy'svoice with sparse elegance. Tong plays piano and cello and mixed and mastered the track.Michael Parnell was the arranger.The song's co-producer, Pamela's partner, Mark McClafferty, feels the weight of the song, too.His father served on the USS Laffey in WWII — known as “the ship that would not die.” Hisfather never spoke about the war until he read the lyrics of this song. “My Dad got emotional. During the waning days of World War II, a group of American soldiers find themselves without a leader nor a mission so they decide to sneak behind enemy lines to attempt to steal a hidden cache of gold which even most Nazi's are aware of.  Clint Eastwood (who plays the titular Private Kelly) leads an all-star cast including Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Donald Sutherland, Carol O'Connor, and Harry Dean Stanton.  Directed by Brian G. This week sees the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Dresden on February 13-14, 1945. It was one of the most destructive of the Allies' late-war bombing campaigns over Germany. Somewhere between 22,000 and 25,000 people were killed and a famously beautiful city was leveled. It's been called an Allied war crime, and Kurt Vonnegut's famous novel “Slaughterhouse 5” reinforced that idea in the public mind for generations. But was it a war crime? Was it unnecessary? Once Upon a Time in Nazi-Occupied France....A beloved filmmaker (Quentin Tarantino) directed his first epic period piece just LOOSELY (very loosely) based upon true events....meaning World War II.  We follow several different characters all within France at the time including Shoshanna (Melanie Laurent) a Jewish movie theater owner, Lt. It's been decades since World War II, a conflict that shaped the world as we know it today. You can learn about it in history books, photographs, and newsreels, but you can also get up close and personal with some of the vehicles that were right there on the battlefield alongside the soldiers who fought for freedom against the Axis alliance. This week we take a look at the hit film, Godzilla Minus One. The movie is set in the waning days of WWII and tells the story of Shikishima, a surviving Kamikaze pilot, who was attacked on Odo Island, along with a company of fighter plane mechanics, by a gargantuan monster. After the mechanics die because of Shikishima failing to shoot the monster, an overwhelming amount of guilt weighs on him, especially when he returns to a ravaged post-war Japan and a homeless woman and the orphaned baby she cares for, moves into his home. Shikishima, now on a personal mission, teams up with a large group of war veterans to finally take down the monster known as Godzilla. Listen in and find out what we all thought!

Born in the South Bronx, New York, to parents of Spanish and Jamaican descent, Mamby converted to Judaism at a young age. He began boxing in 1963, turned professional in 1969, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mamby's boxing career included notable victories and title defenses, facing opponents like Roberto Durán and Saengsak Muangsurin. He continued fighting into his 50s and attempted a comeback at age 60, becoming one of the oldest boxers to compete in an officially sanctioned bout. Known for his durability, Mamby was stopped only once in 85 professional fights.Mae Street Kidd (1904–1999) was an American businesswoman, civic leader, and politician known for her significant contributions during a time when gender and racial barriers were prominent. Born in Kentucky to an interracial family, she had a distinguished career in public relations and served in the Red Cross during WWII.
